antares grant is beta class mutant with the ability of dragon physiology. they’ve been in new york for twelve years where they spend most of their time as guitarist/drifter. when i think of them, i think of choking on embers, glimpses of scales through pale skin, well-worn cardboard stencils. they are affiliated with no one ( neutral ). || (matt smith, thirty-seven, cis man, he/him) — [ira, twenty-two, he/him, pst, n/a!]
hello, sorry for the several day lapse between my initial task and this intro. i got unexpectedly busy with irl stuff and didn’t have the time to get this prepped and posted. let me introduce you very briefly to my pathetic meow meow.
antares (tares, ares, ant, he will accept any shortening of his name) was born in rural louisiana and raised primarily in foster care.
he was always a little weird looking, he came out looking like an overcooked russet potato which was actually NOT due to his mutation, just his genetics in general. but he was bright and quick and got along with the other children in the foster ward in spite of his mutated features.
the adults within his life were not as accepting, and he received a lot of mistreatment that would’ve otherwise passed him by. a typical experience for an identifiable mutant, i think. he often ran away from the ward and later from homes he was fostered into.
he was thirteen when that got him into more trouble than he had bargained for though! zipping out into a dark street after vaulting several fences had him in the stoplights of a mom-van that sideswiped him. if he were just a human child, the blow probably would’ve killed him—instead, it activated those dormant dragon genes.
emboldened by a second form and presumed dead-via-sedan, the irresponsible preteen set out on his own; stealing, breaking-and-entering, swindling, sleeping under dumpsters. a less than glamorous lifestyle for sure, but he got by until he didn’t.
several stints in juvenile detention and one three year stay in whitey bulger's final airbnb (prison) sees our draconic idiot a thoroughly unemployable twenty-four year old, substance addicted and disenfranchised to the max. with little else to resort to, he is back on his bullshit stealing and causing problems in new york.
sleeping rough and living rougher, antares has had many professions, none of them very swanky. for almost six years he was skimming by working alternately as an escort, the worst imitation of walter white physically possible, ticket scalper, thief, waiter, or cutting copper wire out of phone booths thanks to his relative immunity to being electrozooted to death.
thankfully he found a niche. or rather… the niche found him? weaned (by force) off his various chemical confections, a semi-soberised antares worked making custom guitars with a fellow mutant in a dusty little instrument shop in the bronx. freshly thirty with his own bedroom for the first time, what a slay indeed.
by this time it had been 8 years since he’d gone dragon. his first time getting back in the skies after that long was so painful that he nearly gave up on being a sky lizard. however the freedom… was too delicious to pass up. he can never do in the city as the damage would be…. cataclysmic, he takes a motorbike out into rural rural new york state every weekend just to galavant. this has resulted in a litany of dragon-shaped myths popping up.
he still makes guitars. hes very good at it. he plays them too. his band is called hand of the sock puppet or HOTSP for short (said like hots with a p on the end) and makes shitty grunge-y mutant orientated music for when you’re a mutant and it makes you feel sad because life sucks. open for auditions, he’s the only member and he can’t sing but he’s doing his best.
hes also a graffiti artist because why not. theres so much free space in new york to slap a stenciled or freehand painting on. his art was shit at first and is still a bit shit but it’s gotten better. signs that shit DRAGON. why not. (he's not original at all)

BACKGROUND
Leon was born in California, September of 1963. His Mother, a widow, died in childbirth. No immediate family was available or capable of taking in a newborn baby, so into the system he went.
It wasn’t more than two years before Leon was adopted by, at the time, what he thought were parents. But, he wouldn’t be so lucky. He had become part of some Government underground organization that left him in the grasp of the Government to be trained and molded to their will.
When Leon was six, his intelligence was starting to show. He was far above the levels of comprehension that he should have been as a child, and put forth little effort in most training session, grasping things on a level even the Government officials didn’t understand.
Naturally, they had the resources to have his intelligence tested, and it was discovered that he was, objectively speaking, a genius. His IQ was higher than average, brushing similar levels like Einstein, and more greats. They wasted no time putting it to their use, testing Leon on anything and everything they possibly could.
As he grew, things got easier and easier for Leon, and he found himself growing bored. He preferred to not try, and to be free of the responsibility that came with the never ending effort to be the best. Why try when he just was?
Eventually, Leon was approached by Linda about MRD, and the opportunity it could present him. He was a strong young man, intelligent and bold. He seemed like the perfect candidate for her test. The benefits? He could become a mutant, powerful and nearly unstoppable to most. The possible risks? He could die. Leon felt the odds were worth letting Linda do her experiments. It wasn’t as if he had all that much to lose.
He was one fo the first few to be experimented on. He watched the others die. He watched how agonizing it was, and how their bodies basically collapsed from the inside as this foreign DNA was injected into them. He’d be lying if he said it didn’t scare him, but there was little chance he could bow out now. When it was his turn, they injected him, and they waited. Days turned to weeks. Weeks turned to months. Nothing happened. Nothing except the way his mind seemed to morph everyone else’s. Suddenly, he was in complete control of every situation, and he loved it.
His stint with such power was short lived, but they soon trained him to use his new found power. Not for good, no. The MRD was never about doing good that’s what x-men were for. But, they gave him near complete control over his abilities through any means necessary. He was powerful enough to win a fight without lifting a finger.
The one success story because two, then three, and so on and so forth until Linda had gathered seven of them, and created her own little task force.
Leon became a therapist. Not necessarily out of passion. He was nosy, he liked hearing about people’s stories, whether they were useful or not. But, he was also a great therapist with minimal effort. He knew, by some moral code kept by society, he wasn’t meant to interfere with other people’s minds in therapy sessions. But, there were times it felt necessary, and so he would wipe their concerns and anxieties from their minds. Mend their depressive episodes with ease, and they’d consider him a miracle worker. All it really was, was. a transferred thought. But, if it kept them coming back and him in business, so be it.
There’s a new task at hand with the unfolding mutant situation. They’re tasked with, mostly, watching and waiting. Two things Leon is impressively good at.

INTRODUCING...
danica ‘dani’ reznik is a gamma-level mutant with the ability of bone spike protrusion. they’ve been in new york for nine years where they spend most of their time as a student at the xavier institute. when i think of them, i think of antlers tangled in thorny vines, muffled sobs, bloodshot eyes, and a taste of something sweet to hide the bitterness. they are affiliated with the former essex house residents & the xavier institute. || (kathryn newton, twenty-two, cis woman, she/her)
@c23intros
BASICS
Full Name: Danica Reznik Nickname(s): Dani, ‘Jane Doe’ Age: 22 DOB: October 31st, 1976 Zodiac Sign: Scorpio sun, Libra moon, Pisces ascendant Sexuality: Unsure Traits: reserved, skittish, quick-tempered, affectionate, bitter, determined Occupation: Essex House survivor Student at Xavier’s Family: Ivan and Sofia Reznik, parents; Klaudia, Amalia, and Lukas Reznik, younger siblings.
APPEARANCE
Height: 5’4” Eye Color: green/hazel Ethnicity: White Nationality: American Aesthetics: messy blonde braids, oversized clothing and hunched shoulders, fading bruises, candy wrappers torn to confetti. Tattoos: None Piercings: None Scars: So many. Anywhere she’s grown a bone through the skin and retracted it without cleaning and bandaging the wound, or anywhere a bone spike has remained external for an extended period of time, there’s a scar. Additionally, she has a permanent pair of bone antlers growing from her skull thanks to a series of ‘experiments’ at Essex.
HISTORY
The early years of Dani’s life passed in relative normalcy; she was born the first of four children to a Czech immigrant couple in Providence, Rhode Island, and spent her childhood running around the suburb they lived in befriending anyone who’d stop long enough to talk to her. Kids her own age, their parents, the mailman, no one was too big or too small for a healthy dose of Dani’s cheerful chatter. At school her teachers despaired of ever getting her to keep quiet for an entire class period, but most simply encouraged her to write things down and save them for later rather than reprimand the one little girl almost everyone liked.
When she was nine, Dani made her first real best friend - a boy named Matteo, who’d just moved into their school district when he was placed with a new foster family. The two quickly became inseparable, and for four years they played together, studied together, shared secrets and planned adventures without a thought to all the ways the world might separate them.
That separation came far too soon, provoked by a middle school bully who couldn’t resist making Dani a target, though she no longer remembers why. The other boy got too close, made a threat that was a little too genuine, and all of a sudden Matteo is between her and the bully while the florescent lights overhead burst like balloons. Everyone in the room stares, but Dani’s eyes are full of wonder and admiration rather than the fear that seems to have struck their classmates and teachers.
Of course they hustle Matteo to the principal’s office to wait for his foster parents; Dani doesn’t want to stay behind in class, but the teacher insists and so she grabs Matteo’s hand and promises she’ll wait for him at their bus stop the next morning. And she would have, if only she’d gotten the chance, but when she tells her own parents what happened they tell her in no uncertain terms never to go near ‘that boy’ again. Her father says he’s dangerous, her mother says they won’t let him go back to school tomorrow anyway, and Dani begins to realize that she may never see her best friend again.
Her own mutation makes itself known later that evening, when her father catches her trying to sneak out a window and grabs her arm to pull her back inside. Furious and distraught, Dani barely feels the bone pushing through her skin until Ivan lets out a yell of pain and jumps back clutching his now bleeding hand. She is dangerous now too, and with very little deliberation Ivan and Sofia make their choice: she can’t stay.
One phone call and a four hour drive later, Danica Reznik becomes a resident of the Essex House, and her former life becomes little more than a memory. Through it all she thinks of Matteo, looks for him in every new face she sees, sighs with relief every time a dark-haired boy turns around and isn’t him. Wherever he is, it has to be better than here.

BIOGRAPHY
Daniel Bright and Morgan Lee met in college where Daniel was studying to be a geneticist and Morgan was studying biology. The two only met because they both had a work ethic that was better than most of the other students at the college. They quickly found that they both liked to be in the labs at the same time and started hanging out outside of working on their own projects. Though they had few friends, it was no surprise to anyone that the two of them started dating and got married. Both of them landed jobs in their field after graduating with PhDs from Columbia. Not long after Cassidy was born and the family moved to a comfortable brownstone in Manhattan. Three years after Cassidy came their son, Daniel. Holland was a bit of an accident, but none the less an excitement to the family. By the time Holland was born, both Daniel and Morgan knew about the existence of mutants, given their respective scientific fields and they were both terrified of anything different. So they sheltered their children.
While Holland’s childhood was particularly boring and not very interesting. At least until 1983. Although the Brights did their best to shelter their children from the news, the two older children were able to pick up on what was going on around them. Holland, being too young to understand, had no idea what was going on though, which was fine enough for her parents. Holland’s life mostly didn’t change, but she noticed her parents pulling away from society. She and her siblings weren’t given the freedom they once had been. When the Essex House opened, Daniel and Morgan both secured jobs there. From then Holland’s life changed even more.
Instead of going to school like a normal child, the Bright family decided to hire vetted teachers and tutors to teach their kids. The staff at the Bright house were all closely watched through bodyguards and other staff members spying on each other. Anything stranger or unusual was reported on by other staffers and then the guilty party was fired. So from a young age the only constant in Holland’s life was that her parents were always gone and she wasn’t allowed to do anything. Most media was banned from their house, so she learned to draw, learned to entertain herself with whatever her parents did allow in the house. Holland grew up hearing arguments between her older siblings and her parents about how they were prisoners in their own home, yet they still had more freedoms to leave than Holland ever had. But it was the only thing she’d ever known, so how could she complain?
Holland always felt like a bit of an outsider among her family members, though she never knew why, nor would she get an explanation for years. Her life was a constant state of not feeling like she could trust or talk to anyone. She grew into a kid surrounded by money, surrounded by people, but isolated and lonely to a point that she was sure other people didn’t live like this. Years and years of asking her parents why they weren’t allowed to leave the house without body guards or why they had to learn from tutors rather than school like some people, or why they even had a television if it wasn’t allowed to be turned on and she got no answers.
At least not until she was fifteen. Her siblings had moved out by then, it was only Holland and her parents. They told her there were monsters in the world. People capable of harming her without touching her. Some of them looked like regular humans while others were monstrous beings. Holland was told she was safe at home, safe behind closed doors and away from the general public. “We’re doing everything we can to protect you from them,” her mom said, misty eyed. And who was Holland to distrust anything her mom said? “We want to stop these monsters from hurting people,” her dad told her. Holland believed her. Her parents gave her more freedoms then, more books to read and information about the world around her, even if it was all a lie.
At seventeen, Holland was finished with school and her parents allowed her to go off to college. The world was different than Holland expected though. Open and positive. She quickly found out she liked music and video games, brightly colored clothing in comparison to all the drab stuff her parents made her wear. She made friends. If there were monsters, Holland couldn’t find them. Her parents wouldn’t have lied to her, she was sure of it. All they’d ever done was protect her and her siblings. Even Cassidy and Daniel told her the world was a dangerous place. Still, Holland didn’t see any of that, she only saw the wide wonderful world. She moved in with some people from college later that year, though her parents were not happy about it, they made her a deal: when she was eighteen, she’d work as an intern with Essex. Holland agreed. To earn her own keep though, she got a job at the roller rink.
Two years of working for Essex hadn’t changed much of Holland. In fact, she’s almost certain that her parents lied to her. What monsters were there in the world? Who had they been talking about? Nineteen is when it changed for her. Holland met one of the “monsters” her parents had spoken about, but the real kick to the teeth? Holland was one of them too. As the other mutant got close to her, Holland was able to mimic their power. Scared of her own self, she ran off without even talking to the other mutant. Had her parents known? Was that why they’d kept her sheltered for all those years while her brother and sister were allowed to leave? It opened up a whole bunch of questions.
Now twenty with Essex House publicly being destroyed, Holland is more confused than ever about who to trust. She’s one of the monsters too and her power can be dangerous. Holland also has no idea how to control it. What the limitations of it are or anything of that nature. She puts a brave face on though, goes through her day pretending like nothing is wrong when her own reality is crumbling before her.
this is def tldr;
Holland Bright is a mutant who’s parents are anti mutant scientists, going as far to tell her that they’re monsters. She’s been sheltered by her parents her whole life and at the age of nineteen is when she discovered her ability. Very few people know about her ability since she doesn’t know who she can trust.

anamika/makali sinha (lust) is an omega mutant with the ability of shapeshifting. they’ve been in new york for three years where they spend most of their time as a bartender at o'donahues/government agent. when i think of them, i think of knives hidden under silk gowns, laughter that bounces off the walls, and goodnight kisses sent to the moon. they are affiliated with the seven deadly sins. || (freida pinto/megan suri, thirty-one, cis woman, she/her) @c23intros
connections . pinterest . tasks . the seven deadly sins . tw: death
Anamika doesn’t remember much of her years before the government adopted her. There’s zero memories of her parents, no pictures, no gifts given to her, just blank. But she does remember bits and pieces of her grandmother. A kind older woman who always calls her love. Then she’s gone, dies due to old age, and Anamika is left alone in the world. She’s sent to a local orphanage in Wisconsin, the most she brings with her is a bookbag full of clothes and fat tears that don’t stop falling.
She remains at this orphanage for a year before someone adopts her. Some guy, tells her his name is Lucas and that he’s going to take her to a new family. It’s all a lie, she’s taken to a boarding school and she barely ever sees this Lucas man. Instead, she sees a bunch of kids around her age and teachers who scream at her. It feels like hell, she cries for her grandmother, saying that she hates it here and that she’s so lonely. That she’ll never find anyone who will love her like her grandmother. Until she meets her, Makali. Two years older than Anamika, the nine year old wipes away her tears and smiles down at her. “It’s okay! You’re not alone because you have me now!” Just an ordinary nine year old, she appears as an angel to Anamika.
The two become instant best friends and stick to each other the entire time. The two help each other with training and sometimes, Makali helps Anamika with her schoolwork. No matter what they’re doing, Anamika smiles because she has Makali at her side. Nothing could hurt her ever.
As the years go on and the two become closer, Anamika realizes something about herself: that she has feelings for Makali and that she likes girls in general. It takes her months to come to this conclusion. Lots of heartaches whenever Makali talks about her crushes on the boys at the boarding school or how she can’t wait to get married to some cool guy in the future. Nights spent dreaming of holding Makali’s hand, kissing Makali, just everything Makali! It’s frustrating because she’s always thinking of her, goodness!
Out of fear of rejection, Anamika keeps her feelings to herself. Her friendship with Makali means more than some stupid feelings that will disappear soon enough. She’ll get over this silly crush and find some pretty girl to date, yeah. Exactly that! Unfortantely for her, the feelings don’t simply go away, they stay there, always reminding her that Makali is the only one for her. God this sucks.
Two years later and she’s waving bye to Makali as the other graduates and becomes an official agent. It’s great to see her best friend but it sucks because she’s all alone. She spent most of her life with Makali by her side, will she be okay for two years without her? Well, she does alright without her! Gets good grades, her teachers praise her during her combat classes, she’s good. Great even! And it’s the motivation of living with Makali in two years that get her by. The two girls made a promise that once they both graduate, that they’ll get a house overseas and live together for at least ten years. It’s a dream that seems easy enough to reach.
Until she’s eighteen and the experiments start. A woman name Linda McCall enters and tells the graduates that she needs them for a top secret mission. She doesn’t like it at first until Makali is at her side, telling her that she was called to come back for this. “I heard that they’re turning us into mutants, cool right? Knowing the two of us, we’ll be fine and come out as the best mutants in the field, don’t you agree?” Anamika does agree and once again, it’s the motivation she needs to enter the testing room and get injected with the strange DNA.
Anamika and Makali enter their rooms at the same time, both smiling and telling each other see you later.
Only Anamika comes out alive.
She’s heartbroken. Her only family, best friend, and first love... gone. Within seconds. During that moment of hysteria, she does the unexpected... she transform into Makali. She doesn’t realize it until the scientists are looking at her strangely and Anamika looks into a mirror. That’s not her face, what’s going on?
A shapeshifter. With the touch of the hand, she can become whoever she wants. She should be cheering like the other three before her but all she could do was cry and lock herself into her room. When she does come out, the last of their bunch have been created and it’s time for training. She doesn’t cry anymore, she tells herself that Makali wouldn’t want her to cry like this. So she toughens it out and does what she promised her best friend: to become the strongest mutant in the field.
When their shared training ended and Linda allowed all of them to leave, Anamika goes straight into espionage work. She steals information for the government, steals the faces of whoever, and learns how to take some of their memories. For ten years she betters her ability before moving to NYC where she becomes a bartender. It’s a mission Linda gives her, to take up a job that allows her to see, meet, and talk to everyone. Oh and of course, steal their faces while she’s at it.
Anamika also walks around as Makali a lot, in memory of her best friend. You can find Makali at a small coffee shop where she works at and sometimes at Club Nyx where she parities at.

Hannah Mori / Gluttony is an omega level mutant with the ability of absorption. they’ve been in new york for 10 years where they spend most of their time as a private masseur / government agent. when i think of them, i think of bloodshot eyes, the sickly sweet scent of wilting flowers, a well loved and tattered sweatshirt. they are affiliated with [ the seven deadly sins*]. || (sonoya mizuno, 36, nonbinary, they/them )

STATS
FULL NAME: Mori Hannah / 森 羽奈 GOES BY: Mori, Glut (only by other Sins) GENDER: Non-binary, They/Them AGE: Thirty-six D.O.B: 1962 HEIGHT: 5′7″ OCCUPATION: Private Masseur MUTATION: absorption
TL;DR
> Taken from neglectful parents at age three. > Raised in a government home, groomed to be a government agent and a good one at that. > They were an outgoing, bubbly child and young adult until the Seven Sins experiment’s success. Their ability takes a toll. > Works as a private masseur to the wealthy. Is very good at their job. > Has been a member of the Brotherhood for a decade.
FULL BIO
Mori has always been left wanting. They wanted a loving home, they wanted to be important, they wanted... something. An intangible thing to want, the sort of thing they'd only recognize once they had it.
Born to a young couple who were not in a good place to have a child, too immature, too low on cash and too interested in having their own youth to properly raise a child. Forgotten whilst their parents indulged in their own excess, their parents barely noticed when their child was taken.
Raised in a government home, the young happy child took to the training like a duck to water (and other such clichés).
They were an outgoing, bubbly child and young adult. Until the Seven Sins experiment’s success. At 23, they’d seemed to finally get that thing they wanted. It was power, it was a family of sorts, something more tightly bound than something simple like blood. Linda and the other sins are the only family Mori ever needs, ever needed. Why should they have to preen or parade around for anyone else? Of course, the only person they will put on a show for is Linda, and if Linda asks, Mori gives.
Their mutation was absorption: the ability to take from others. Be it their energy, their life force, parts of them and when it came to mutants? They could take their ability. At first it overwhelmed them. Unable to distinguish whether they were taking their life force, ability or even parts of them, they would step back disorientated. Fragments of other’s personality lingered like a bad smell, every nerve lit up in the best way possible. When it comes to absorbing the abilities of others, they don’t simply mimic, they take. The other mutant in question loses their mutation. Entirely. It returns, of course, but can take a couple hours and is a gradual process.
They worked for a few years simply as a masseur in NYC. Given their ability they quickly became sought after, everyone left their sessions boneless and calm and simply at ease. Building a reputation quickly, they took full advantage. Working only with the higher class (aka wealthier) clients so they can work as little as possible but still reap the benefits of a healthy pay cheque. The other reason for wanting life to be easier for themselves was their real goal in NYC.
Mori has been a part of the Brotherhood for the last decade. Slowly working their way through, befriending everyone they can in their own quiet, unobtrusive way, simply waiting for the call from Linda.
CONNECTIONS
BROTHERHOOD! They have been a member of the BH for a decade. Let’s plot.
CLIENTS! Wealthier the better.

BIOGRAPHY
It should be known that Minno Patton never knew who the father of her child was. Some one night stand with some man in some city she was in for a few days before moving on. Minno wasn’t the type to settle down. Even when Chris was born, Minno moved from city to city with her child in tow, holding down a job for a couple of months at a time. They were never poor, but the two of them never really had a ton of spare money. The two of them had a good life though and although Chris sometimes wished for more stability in his life, he was happy and his mom made him aware that there was nothing he could ever do that would make her love him less. That turned out to be the truest statement ever too the older Chris got.
Eventually stability did happen for the two of them, when Minno met Vienna Green and her son Drew. Chris was six. Around the same age as him, Drew and Chris got along well. The four of them ended up living together and while nothing was ever official between Minno and Vienna, the two were practically married. The two boys grew up with their family being less than typical. When Chris came out as trans at the age of ten, his mother and Vienna were supportive of him. Because ultimately, their kid being happy was more important than anything else.
Although his parents were supportive, no one else in town really understood what their family was. Chris called Vienna mom even if she wasn’t his mother. He also called Minno mom as well, which only added to the confusion of the rest of the town. Still it didn’t change how Chris saw his family. When people bullied him and Drew, he stood up for them. When people bullied his mom, he stood up for them. From a young age, Chris understood what it was like to be different and other, so he made it a goal of his to be a light among all the darkness he saw. He was political to a fault and made sure that other people heard his opinion. The underdog always deserved to have someone on their side. His moms were proud of him.
One thing that was always important to Chris was his education. He worked twice as hard as the rest of the students in his grade to get the best grades he could get. It wasn’t a surprise when he ended up being valedictorian at his high school graduation. Chris was a bit of a golden boy, good at sports, editor of the school paper, president of several clubs, and he still managed to hold down a job. Some people had no idea how he did it all. Chris had always been a hard worker, the type to want to make something with his name. When he was accepted into Cornell University with a full academic scholarship, Chris was happy to move from his small town to the big city. His parents and brother followed close behind after Drew graduated high school a year later.
Cornell is where he really flourished. While he wasn’t competing for a spot at top in high school, university was a whole different ballpark. Chris didn’t need to get the best grades though. He already knew he wanted to be a journalist. Writing had always been a passion of his and Chris wanted to be a voice for those that didn’t necessarily have a voice. So that’s what he studied. Even as a freshman, his major was declared and he submitted stories when he had the time to the school paper. While not all his stories were published, he did see a decent few of them in print.
His first college roommate was a man named Victor. The two of them ended up being very close, especially after Chris found out Victor was a mutant. Like he had always done, Chris made sure he knew his roommate was aware that as long as Victor didn’t hurt people on purpose, Chris respected him. From that moment on, Chris stood up for mutants. He stood by his friend’s side through thick and thin. He watched the president’s speech with distain and anger. If the general public decided they weren’t going to stand up for mutants, then Chris was going to do it, even if he was alone.
Chris graduated from college and started a page job at the New York Times where he’s worked ever since. Now he works as a journalist. Over the last eight years, Chris’s name has been the byline on some of the more progressive opinions and articles that are pro-mutant. He’s made it his goal to make the world he lives in a more positive and accepting one. He and Victor still talk from time to time, but Victor moved out of the country, so they don’t talk as often. Yet, Chris still talks the same talk, making sure that everyone knows that his opinions won’t waver. Ever since he was a child, he has always believed that being the voice of reason and to use his own voice to spread awareness.
As much as his career has flourished, Chris’s personal life has not. He has spent the last several years focused on reporting and his career. So unlike his brother who’s gotten married and has children, Chris is still alone. In fact he really doesn’t have a relationship and hasn’t thought about that part of his life very much. He does want to start putting less time into his work and more time into his friendships and spend less time in the office. Although, he doesn’t really know how to do that since Chris believes his work is important, even if he’s just telling the truth.
Unlike most people, now that Essex house has been destroyed, Chris isn’t sitting idle. All those positive mutant organizations he’s now wary of. He has no idea if people trust or believe that his voice is genuine or not, but he’s at least trying to remain optimistic about the future.
this is def tldr;
Christopher Patton is a non-mutant who has always had a thing about sticking up for the underdog. He does his best to listen to the voices around him and amplify the ones that need to be amplify. He works at the New York Times as a journalist.

@c23intros // tw: mention of death.
sketchpad splayed on his desk, hands covered in what seems like charcoal, unfinished sketches in each pages, worn out t-shirt, green fumes leaving his skin, labored breathing, the smell of cigarette smoke stuck in his hair, masking that scent with old spice, bright sun light hurting his eyes.
it takes time -- years -- of life taking everything from him. he used to be so happy, or at least that is what he wants to remember.
how can a man born with such love and warmth turn into someone so hateful?
he remembers how his father comes home with snacks for him and his sister. he remembers how his mother will cook him fried chicken and make him kimchi fried rice, he remembers how they’d try to find a korean convenience store because somewhere out there in queens there should be one.
he used to be so happy. he used to be so loved.
his dad would tell him stories of his conquest in the war, of how he used his ‘superpowers’ to save their country. and little jaewon would always reply “i want to be like you someday” with such hope, even if he knows he can barely control his own.
his mom and dad were always so gentle and careful with him, afraid that one day jaewon’s going to hurt himself, or worst reveal himself to the world. after all they ran away from their own country in fear of jaewon being used as a weapon of war, leaving death upon his wake. that was the truth, and more of the truth was that his father never wanted jaewon to be like him. all his father fed him were lies, as he was not the man he’s showing to his son.
he wanted jaewon to be perfect, they had high hopes for him, they had dreams for him, so when they found out that there was a school helping gifted children like jaewon, they were ecstatic to send him to xavier’s institute. jaewon spent his years there, honing his ‘gifts’, despite control being so hard to grasp, he had high hopes.
he just wanted to be like his father, he badly wants to be that good. he tried his best not to miss a sunday in church, he’d always go home to be with his family during weekends.
but one day, due to his ambition of being the best, he missed a weekend, and bad news had been delivered to him in return. his family was killed. . .and he never really know why. something’s amiss and he had to find out. he needed to bring justice to his family.
he was seventeen, burying his mother and father, and also an empty coffin of his sister’s, tears in his eyes, and hate scorching in his heart. he had nothing. everything was taken from him. he was fueled with hate, vengeance and the need to kill, and god did it fuel his ability.
he tirelessly works on honing his mutation.
one mishap ended it all in his stay in xavier’s though, angry and ashamed of seeing the disappointment in his professor’s eyes, he ran away. he told himself he could do better and he’d do so very well without anyone holding him back.
he knows that some students watch him with fear in their eyes, know that he’s different, that he’s gone. he knows he’s scary and he lives off of that. but he knows there’s no use to let himself be known to the world, so he hid while he tries to make sense of his family’s death, inching closer to the truth, even though there are times of frustration when he ends up in nowhere.
jaewon lived in his own world. no care for what’s happening in the world until he reaches his goal. then suddenly a spark gets ignited inside of him when he’s found out of the brotherhood. his interest was piqued. jaewon believes he might find his answers there.
-/-
tlrd: jaewon’s angry, all the time, because well everything is taken from him. think of batman you know but he’s like on the way to his villain arc. he used to be such a good person, and that’s probably still in there, it’s just getting pushed back in the deepest corner of his being because hate, vengefulness, and bloodlust are the ones that is driving him to live. he aspires to be an omega level mutant and he’s reaching there, 25 years of existence working to be perfect with using toxikinesis. basically there are two paths jaewon can go, especially in the peak of this war, he can be persuaded by xavier’s institute to come back or the brotherhood recruits him. (it depends on how things go with plotting and stuff with him!)
other facts about jaewon: he’s basically living off of the money his parents left for him and it’s a lot, and so he can earn money of his own he works as a tattoo artist, the only way he can think of doing something out of his art aside from doing commissions and trying to sell his paintings to some art curator.
despite all his wrong doings, he still goes to church, he begs for forgiveness, and prays to get what he wants. he’s just very contradicting right now.

basics
korean name: lee jaewon westernized name: finnegan james lee legal name: jaewon finnegan james lee nicknames: jae, jamie, wonnie, won, finn age: 25 occupation: tattoo artist species: mutant, alpha, toxikinesis - the ability to control, generate poison, venom, etc.
too fucking lazy to add more, maybe i’ll update this when i’m not.
-/-
plot ideas / wanted connections
old professor from xavier: persuading jae to come back in xavier and help out and stuff and yanno make him realize there are still good things in life and like he can channel all this anger in a better medium and in a better way.
someone from the brotherhood: they are making him succumb to the darkness you know and his goals align with the brotherhood rn so it’s really perfect for them to get jaewon.
a police detective: someone helping jaewon figure out the murder of his family, we can talk about their dynamics tbh, but i imagine that this person is looking out for jaewon too and they have like some kind of parental figure-son dynamic.

narcissa cromwell / greed is an omega-level mutant with the ability of gold manipulation. they’ve been in new york for three weeks where they spend most of their time as maxine’s personal assistant / a government agent. when i think of them, i think of gold dust fingerprints left on wine glasses, perfectly tailored designer suits, a tongue as sharp as a knife. they are affiliated with the seven deadly sins. (katie mcgrath, thirty-four, cis woman, she/her)
basics;
full name: narcissa ciarán cromwell nicknames: narcy, cissy, cece gender: female birthdate: january 13th species: mutant affiliation: the seven deadly sins
personality;
alignment: lawful evil zodiac: capricorn mbti: entj positive traits: motivated, disciplined, ambitious, responsible negative traits: stubborn, pessimistic, materialistic, critical
abilities;
title: gold manipulation category: manipulation/physical power definition: the ability to create and manipulate gold limitations: metal manipulation can override her control. the things she creates can melt under extreme heat and shatter under extreme cold. gold is a softer metal and can be easily bent and penetrated if she doesn’t make her constructs thick/solid.
backstory;
narcissa is the only child of the mrd scientist, linda mccall. she is also the seventh deadly sin.
she was born a human in new york city, and only a few months after her birth, her mother returned to her research and left narcissa with various nannies.
throughout her childhood, she had to beg for even a minute of her mother’s time. even when linda was home, she wasn’t really there. she was always buried in paperwork or taking important calls.
her nannies encouraged her more than linda ever did. they praised her good grades, helped her with her homework, tucked her into bed at night. however, to give credit where it’s due, linda always helped with the science homework.
the first time she ever saw her mother express how proud she was, was when narcissa won a science competition at the age of 10. linda kept the volcano her daughter had made in her office. it’s still there now.
she was the perfect daughter, never once rebelling. everything she did was for linda’s approval (not that she got it very often). she passed every exam with flying colours, never turned in her homework late, focused on her studies rather than forming friendships. she’d completely shut herself away from her peers to focus on good grades and expanding her knowledge.
she was sent to a catholic, all girls boarding school in ireland from the ages of 13-16. her grandma lived there and had recommended it to linda. as strict as her teachers were, and as much as she hated some of the girls there, narcissa’s best memories are at that place.
away from her mother and nannies, she started to come out of her shell. she secretly drank and smoked with her new friends, experimented with girls and discovered her sexuality, relaxed and put her happiness before her grades.
at 16, she graduated and spent a year travelling with her friends around europe. linda had tried to call her back home during that year, but narcissa had ignored her in favour of some freedom.
landed back in new york a couple of days after her 17th birthday. linda gave her college brochures as a birthday present. narcissa went to nyu to study law that fall. after three years of blood, sweat, and a few tears, she graduated. linda looked on proudly.
for a couple of years, narcissa worked at a local law firm. it was hard work, but also extremely rewarding. during this time, she learned of her mother’s experiments. she’d even met a couple of the sins.
growing jealous of linda spending so much time with kids that weren’t even her own, narcissa became resentful. her mother kept telling her how important the experiments were and how respected she was going to be once her project was completed. she called them her children.
every family dinner, every shopping trip, every phone call — every time they spoke or met up, conversation always circled back around to the sins. how strong they were, how talented they were, how goddamn fucking perfect her new children were.
eventually, narcissa asked to be the final mutant. after years of being thankful to be human, her mother had turned her so resentful, and desperate for her love, that she allowed her to manipulate her and wear her down to the point of asking to become one.
the dna being injected, the fear of dying, the experiments, the training, the figuring out who she was all over again. it’s all a painful blur to narcissa now.
eventually, the sins were released into the wild by linda. some of them left the city, some of them stayed. narcissa went back to ireland. she took care of her grandmother during her final years, working part time at a tourist bar. after her grandmother passed, she stayed in dublin and worked at a law firm.
skip to june of 1998 and narcissa gets a call from linda telling her it’s time. it’s finally time for the deadly sins to assemble and do what they were created to do. she drops her job and returns home post haste to a loving mother so excited to see her children.
narcissa is now working as maxine brandt’s assistant at brandt & goetsch. she’s ready to cause some trouble.

{serena motola, twenty-four, cis woman, she/her} || TIFFANY CHIBA is a non-mutant who has been in new york for twenty-four years where they spend most of their time as a receptionist at the hello motel. when i think of them, i think of angel rays falling across sleepy eyes, oversized knee socks pulled up again and again and again, and half wilted flowers in an empty sauce jar on the windowsill. they are in support of mutants.
@c23intros
task 1 - the mutant situation [X] task 2 - home [X]
QUICK FACTS full name: tiffany chiba age: twenty four gender: cis woman personality: soft, kind, hard working height: 5′4 star sign: capricorn (born 25th december) fc: serena motola
Your muse may recognise her as the only daughter of two (as of yet unnamed) members of the Xavier Institute. They are highly regarded pillars of the community, thought of as kind, heroic, and generous.
They were thrilled to welcome their daughter into the world, but as the years went by they realised Tiffany had no powers. She was only human.
It wasn’t overnight, because this realisation was more of a slow dawning, but somehow that was worse. Tiffany watched her parents slowly lose interest in her, changing the topic if she ever came up at the Xavier Institute, and fobbing her off onto a nanny wherever possible.
This has led to her becoming intensely insecure. She’s sort of a desperate people pleaser, but sort of too much of a shrinking violet to actually try and please people. For a while she thought she might go to university, but the application process intimidated her and she didn’t think she could do it.
As soon as she was old enough, she got a job at the Hello Motel -- it was seedy and scary but she couldn’t rely on her parents to support her. They were too disinterested, and she couldn’t go on being little more than an ornament to be ignored in her parent’s home.
Now, she’s got a little place of her own in Belcourt Apartments. It’s pretty sparse, but it’s hers, and she tries to cheer it up with jars of flowers and postcards tacked to the walls.
Tiffany has a lot of love to give, because she wants to be loved back. Despite her parents making her feel inadequate for her humanness, she really supports the mutants and hates seeing how they’re spoken about. Having been raised among them, she knows that there’s plenty of good mutants in the world.
She looks like she’s about to cry all the time. This is because she is about to cry all the time.
A few things that make her happy: strawberry ice cream, disco music (ABBA stan through and through), hugs, and Sunday morning cartoons.
TL;DR Tiffany is a nepotism baby who will never fit the crown so now she’s gonna get love & hugs from YOU and that is a threat <3

NEW RECRUIT, an introduction.
BASICS. Full Name. LTC. Adam Mohammed Rahim Nickname(s). Adam Alias. Perennial Occupation. Superhero & Veteran Affiliation. The Omegas Classification. Alpha Level Mutation. Invulnerability - Perennial is immune to all forms of physical damage and harm regardless of its level of power, he is immune to bleeding or loss of limb or any body parts for that matter. He cannot get even a simple scratch. He can withstand pain, meaning he can still feel it though the level of power for him to feel physical pain must be really high. The only way to kill Perennial is to affect him in a deeper level than just his material body, it may be through the mind, emotion, or soul. Aside from this, he has increased strength than an average person, his strength is empowered by his invulnerability, he also has enhanced durability.
POINTS. ○ born in the UK to mutant parents. when he’s 11 he moved to US because of his dad’s job. his relationship with his parents is healthy. they raised him well. ○ he figured out that he wanted to help people, make the world a better place, so at the age of 18 he enlisted in the military and applied for Special Operations when he was finally eligible, it was difficult but he endured and got in. (special thanks to his mutation!) ○ it’s not easy being a soldier - of course - he had to follow orders that do not align with his principles, nonetheless he did it. he’s an obedient soldier. it wasn’t long until he climbed in ranks. ○ being a mutant was a secret (it wasn’t obvious to begin with), however due to some required medical examination he has to do, they are not able to get blood from him because the needle will bend every time. and so he admitted, he is in fact a mutant. ○ adam was assigned to more dangerous missions due to this and soon enough he was a favorite, he’s efficient and impossible to kill, earning him the alias perennial. ○ word got out that there’s a perfect hero in the special forces, it took a lot of convincing and meetings for the omegas to recruit adam. his final decision was to join the Omegas Initiative.

full name: alfred rubin hwang. nicknames: alfie, freddie, cheshire. birthday: 01/01/1969, a standardised date afforded to him due to it not being clear on his exact birthday. age: twenty-nine. zodiac: capricorn. ethnicity: korean. nationality: american. gender: agender. pronouns: any.

physical.
build: tall, muscled and lean. height: six foot five. eye colour: blue (left), brown (right)
details
notable: fanged, antlered, has small wings that do not aid their flight, pointed elf-like ears, hundreds of bioluminescent freckles, and the tail of a hare. scars: none. scent: autumn leaves, burning wood.
biography.
as most unsightly things are, freddie was discarded shortly after birth and found home in a situation that might’ve passed him by were it not for his appearance. fanged, antlered, with a small pair of fluttery wings and the tail of a hare, they may have fallen victim to an early death, had their capabilities not been understood early.
there was nothing to them, they floated easily through wall and ceiling, survived purely by pilfering until found by the SEEKER. another mutant, with the ability to detect powers and their potential intensity, who wordlessly guided the child to a place where their absence would be beneficial.
they were treated as a breathing wire-tap, they spent their childhood unseen and unheard in places where the information was the richest. learning to write and recount secrets before they could even write their name. and the forms—there were so many reflections to pick from, but even after years of practice freddie’s heterochromia always remained.
he kills for the first time as a thirteen year old, pushing off from the wall like an olympic swimmer and diving through the bodies of three men, emerging on the other side with their hearts in hand. it did not feel wrong, people lived and they died, what did it matter the means when the end was always the same?
that ambivalence, disregard for human life, it puts them on probationary leave from his duties when he is sixteen. for over a year they remain on the compound, biding time, caching whispers, and they become so good at lying, at luring, they mislead prey into their clutches to satiate that insipid little hunger to see nothing staring back at him. blank eyes–no fear, pure oblivion.
they leave of their own accord when they are seventeen. what is there to stop him? walls are of no consequence, distance is of no consequence, form is of no consequence. they chase the scent of blood, the clouds preceding a storm—war, in new york city.
was he a mutant? he was certainly not human. they have not discovered what they are—their true nature, perhaps eternally, is cryptic even to them. he chooses the side with the most to lose, he loves to see underdogs succeed.

BIOGRAPHY
Maritza was born to two mutant parents, who were both relatively high profile people (although they weren’t known mutants). Her parents met in Meixco when Francisco was visiting his very sick grandmother at the time. They met, fell in love, and married after a few years of dating. They originally lived in Los Angeles and that’s where Maritza was born. For the first eleven years of her life, Maritza’s life was normal. Until the day her parents say her down to tell her that they were divorcing. She moved with her mom to New York rather than staying with her father in California. Although Maritza did go visit her father every summer.
Both her parents were the creative types, but Maritza was one of those people that was more driven by scholarly achievements. It was rare for her to bring home horrible grades and while other students her age focused on their social lives, Maritza sat at home rereading assignments and doing extra work to make sure that she understood the assignments that she was being given. Both her parents were always baffled by this although they supported their child because they weren’t sure what else to do otherwise, she clearly was smart and driven enough.
Growing up, Maritza was aware of mutants, as both her parents were. They never really talked about mutants, nor gave her a reason to like or dislike them. Maritza turned out to not have any sort of mutation. There was an unspoken rule of just “not talking about mutants” in their household, though Maritza often asked questions, and as a curious, bookish child, she ended up learning what information out there. Like most things, she came to the conclusion that like non-mutants, all humans had good and bad in them. It’s also unspoken that Maritza has no idea her mom is involved with the Hellfire Club.
Since her family never had to worry about money, Maritza had a bit of a bleeding heart. When she saw someone in need, she tried to help them out with whatever she could. She got into arguments with tons of people over little things that she thought were important. From a very young age, she wanted to be a lawyer. She was passionate about the law. Maritza focused on her school, getting good grades and padding her resume for college applications. Her senior year of high school, she applied for several Ivy League schools and ended up going to Brown.
Like in high school, Maritza focused on her school when she was in college, but her roommate at the time was a lot more of a party girl. Despite the fact that they were opposites, Maritza ended up being really good friends with her roommate. She ended up going to parties with her roommate every so often. Her junior year of college, towards the end of the year, Maritza ended up at a random party with her roommate and met someone. She doesn’t remember everything that happened that night, but she does remember the guy’s first name. That’s about it though. Maritza’s fun little night out turned into a pregnancy she wasn’t exactly prepared for.
Thankfully, her mom was understanding and supported Maritza, but her father was furious at her, resulting in her not speaking to him. She finished the rest of the school year off with the intention that she’d come back the next fall, but it was a tough summer for her and ultimately she decided that she couldn’t have a child. Right before giving birth, Maritza ran off to Boston to stay with some family friends. She couldn’t keep the child, so she left him with a note, wrapped in a small green blanket, placed in a cardboard box at the doors of a church. And then she returned to her home.
After that Maritza focused on her education, shutting herself off from the distractions of boys and girls around her age. She finished school and applied to Yale Law School where she graduated, while working a temp job at a local attorney’s office. She moved back to New York after graduating and began focusing on her career. Being a driven person meant that she focused on work until she had a partnership at her firm and took it over.
As an attorney, she has a reputation as being the type to help most people. Her firm does take on a ton of pro bono cases and since she is managing partner at her firm, she decides a lot of the cases. Her mom helps out with money when necessary, as she still is wealthy. Maritza is the type to listen to most of her clients before making decisions and wants to believe the best in people. Although she has mostly made a name for herself with civil cases rather than criminal ones. She puts a lot of heart into her work because she thinks this is the best way to help people and it makes her feel less guilty about abandoning her child. However, she does like to have a little fun here and there, finding her job less stressful. A lot of her hobbies include things that are more academic, like book club and playing chess with people in the park. And she always has a glass of wine with her dinner.
Maritza has always felt like a part of her has focused on her career to distract from the fact that she did abandon a baby at a church, but for a long time she put off thinking about it. She always said that when she was older, when she felt like she could handle it, she’d go in search of the child, make sure they had a stable home and a family that cared for them. Now, at the age of forty one without a family, she decided to hire an investigator to follow paper trails and find her child. She is nervous for whatever the investigator finds, but she knows if she would have raised the child, neither of them would have ended up happy. Still, she pushes any guilt she has regarding that down because it does no one good.
this is def tldr;
Maritza is the only daughter of two wealthy mutants, unlike her parents she isn’t a mutant, although has never harbored ill will towards them. In college, she ended up pregnant and left the baby at a church. After that she focused on her career as an attorney and is known for having a bleeding heart.

{ricky whittle, thirty-nine, cis man, he/him} || mark jensen is a mutant with the ability of snake magic (snagic). they’ve been in new york for twenty years where they spend most of their time as a televangelist. when i think of them, i think of lies on the tip of a forked tongue, evil expelling from the chest, country roads turning to cityscapes as hymns turn cacophonous. they are affiliated with the brotherhood.
omg 6′5 ? omg 6′5 ! <- i wrote this when his fc was casey deidrick and it became a bit™ so just pretend that he’s still 6′5.
QUICK FACTS:
full name: mark thomas jensen
date of birth: april 18th, 1959
zodiac big three: aries sun, scorpio moon, taurus rising
gender & pronouns: cis man & he/him
sexual orientation: bisexual
enneagram: 8w7
mbti: istj
temperament: choleric-phlegmatic
alignment: neutral evil
ability: snake magic (snagic)
affiliation: the brotherhood
alias: leviathan
BACKSTORY:
triggers: a lot of fuckery with religion ( christianity pentecostal, to be specific ), briefly implied abuse
born and bred in hancock, west virginia, mark had a steady community, found both within his family unit and the many folks who lived around him. for all he knows ? it was either unique in that there were no other mutants, or all other mutants feared themselves and concealed it with their entire being.
however, his family was heavily into pentecostalism. there were the gatherings, then there were the ceremonies that they were paired with. miracle healing ( of which, even mark heard a few confess their doubts of ), baptism of fire ( speaking in tongues ), and the one that could not be faked: serpent handling.
the latter of the three was treated as a fun celebration, of sorts. they would pass the venom of a snake around and drink from it while tempting the beast to bite them through their handling. and... a lot of people were bitten. a test of their faith, a test of whether or not their Father would save them...
mark’s family thought of each ceremony like a party, but he began to grow anxious during the serpent handlings. he couldn’t place his finger on why. it seemed the snakes were unhappy, but he had always seen them as this being that did not so much deserve any pain as it did simply not feel any. these were simple odd feelings, though, correct ? he never spoke on it.
but when he was ten, an unspeakable pain behind his ribs began developing. it was like something was trying to break his ribs from within.
and, wouldn’t you have it ? during one of the snake handling ceremonies, he began feeling that same terrible pain behind his ribcage. concerning everyone enough to stop the ceremony, it took five minutes until he contributed his very own beings to it: snakes broke through his ribcage, through the flesh of his chest, slithered down him, and commingled with all the other serpents in the room. then, as if nothing had happened, his ribs repaired and his chest stitched itself back together, no scars or residual pain.
obviously... that was very confusing. but, given the circumstances and what had protruded from within him, the parish began looking upon him as something given directly from God. evil had expelled itself from within and began to obey him, slithering around and over him, but never -- never -- harming him. never even acting like it would consider it.
you know those faith healer kids ? that was mark, but with snakes.
...up until something new and much worse happened when he was 13. instead of taming evil, evil being expelled from within, or anything of the sort, he turned into the face of the devil, unwillingly taking on the form of a snake. snake physiology, besties. snisiology.
the soul of the snake entering his body, he, in his much larger form than the other copperheads. the ire he held as their thoughts became his own, he bit into a good half of the parishioners before transforming back into himself. their admiration turned to fear, the ones left unscathed forced him out of the house. and the family members he had left unharmed treated him with terror at best, with violence of their own at worst. he left by his own accord at 14, but had he thought himself able to stay ? he would have.
from ages 14-17, he found himself wandering various streets and roads, having to break various commandments to keep himself alive. he stole, he developed a violent streak, he became more in touch with the snake within.
it was not by choice so much as it was by coincidence -- by sign -- that he wound up in new york city. a preacher found him and offered him shelter. in the cold, still not fully in control of his physiology ( snisiology making him weak in the cold ), he found a reluctant acceptance. and this preacher became the pipeline to his career. he would prove himself by reciting all he still knew, even as his faith dwindled, with an unparalleled passion. although the denominations were not the same, the preacher told him that he had connections he could use to set mark up with this booming career. he would need some favors in return, but mark would be better off for it.
he was good on his word... both his connections - political, of course - and the favors he was looking for. but mark turned him into exactly what he was: a snake. ( but, like, not the cool kind ! not his buddies ! )
but 18 brought with it an actual career -- unexpected. but the younger, the better ? it began as a load of shit, believing maybe 1/10 of what he preached. it was more a way to make fast money from the gullible. ‘god this, jesus that, send money!’
however, as he became acquainted with the fact that there were other mutants out there -- many other mutants, in fact -- all of whom, including himself, had been and were being fucked over by everything from the government to the home, he began to slowly alter the course of his ‘sermons’ to have... an actual message.
essentially: man has been made in the face of God. his soul runs through our veins. but mutant has been made in the face of Jesus. mutant is the second coming, and God has made no mistake. they heal the weak, they come back from the dead, they may even turn water into wine. -- you get the point. of course, it started off much less obvious... and just grew.
at 25, somewhere in the middle of his hidden message and his overt message, he found and joined the brotherhood, picking the codename leviathan and killing the ‘kinder’ family members of his, turning the more violent ones into snakes.
more years stripped him further of his faith until the only thing he said that he believed was that mutant was superior to man, the next step in God’s plan for the great, green earth. ( mutant will replenish it, yada yada )
which brings us... twelve years later, to today. he knows all that he is capable of, even if he has yet to fully control the two most powerful aspects ( more on that in his task ) ; he feels the wrath that those snakes felt so many years ago often ; he speaks when necessary... overall, a stone of a man.
also. total side-note to say that he’s made a point to keep his accent. some of the slang - like ‘tote’ instead of ‘bag’ - has been blended together though and he 100% accidentally alternates between ‘proper’ english and mountain speak.
TIMELINE:
BORN -- in ‘61 to a tight-knit community in hancock, west virginia.
AGE 3- -- began regularly attending pentecostal ceremonies with his family. faith healing, baptisms of fire, snake handling...
AGE 9 -- felt an inexplicable connection to the serpents during the ceremonies. they were unhappy, to say the least. thought of it as just... a passing feeling, never said anything of it.
AGE 10 -- after weeks, if not months, of feeling like something was trying to break his ribs from within, snakes burst forth from his chest during a ceremony.
AGE 10-12 -- he was treated as a gift of sorts. the snakes, the evil, had expelled themselves from him and would never dare bite into him.
AGE 13 -- out of his control, he transformed into a large version of a copperhead. he bit, thus gravely injuring, half the parish.
AGE 13 -- he was cast out of the church. the better portion of his family treated him with fear, the worse portion treated him with violence.
AGE 14 -- he left of his own accord.
AGE 14-17 -- he wandered around the states, breaking commandments to survive.
AGE 17 -- he was taken in by a preacher in new york city. the preacher promised him a career in the booming business of televangelism if he would repay him with unspecified favors.
AGE 18 -- the preacher made good on his word, using political connections to get mark a slot. but mark turned him into a snake when he learned of the favors he was looking for.
AGE 20- -- turned his bullshit sermons, all made with the simple intent of getting money, into something covertly pro-mutant.
AGE 25 -- joined the brotherhood. took on the codename ‘leviathan.’ killed the better part of his family and turned the worse part into serpents.
AGE 27-PRESENT -- turned his sermons into something much more overt in their nature. mixed reception at first, but gained long-term followers. who were humans.
AGES 14-29 -- really had to work on deprogramming himself !
CONNECTION IDEAS:
guest stars ! mutants willing to face possible scrutiny by coming on his broadcasts and showcasing their ability -- the ‘miracles’ they can work.
folks who only know him as a televangelist ! idk it would just be funny to me if they knew his name ( since, like... televangelism really was an oddly big thing in the ‘80s and ‘90s ), but didn’t know anything about the content of his sermons. ‘so you’re that religious weirdo...’
folks who helped ‘deprogram’ him ! for example, samson falls under this category in that he was his first m/m experience. this could be anything from the first person he had sex with ( he thought masturbation was a sin, okay ) to someone who indulged him in his violent tendencies -- as in, violence for the sake of violence.
evil buddies ! be hot, do crime.
folks who just get the short end of the stick ! aka, mark does not like them... which can, indeed, lead to violent outbursts. it’s what he knows best <3
folks who are helping him with the two super powerful sub-abilities ! he largely trains himself, preferring the comfort of isolation to the help of others, but these two could almost make him op ! therefore, if nothing else, i can see folks wanting to help -- so... probably exclusive to the brotherhood.
new recruits ! ( derogatory ) this man is not going to trust any recruit unless they’ve been there for at least a year... let him suss your muse out <3
anything and everything else ! from fwb to neighbors to ppl who are like ‘did that snake just come out of ur chest wtf’

MYTH, an introduction @c23intros
name. yunjin song nicknames. jin, jinnie alias. myth age. 22 occupation. cook at gracie’s diner affiliation. former essex house residents
mutation. harpy physiology - yunjin can turn into a harpy. her arms turns into wings, her hands and feet into talons, her legs and some parts of her body gets covered in feathers too. she retains her face and hair, fortunately she doesn’t grow a beak.
life before essex house. ⇢ yunjin was born in milford, new jersey; a small town where everyone knows everyone. her family’s the known local ranchers and farmers, as they own an estate where they ranch and farm. everyone in her family lives and works there. as far as she remembers, they never really had any employees, it was strictly a family business. ⇢ it was a fairly normal childhood - she goes to school, helps around the estate, play and hang out with her friends - until she turned eight and found out she’s a half-birb. she knows that’s not normal, she doesn’t know anyone who turns into something like that. so the first time it happened, she hid in one of the barns until she turned back to normal. ⇢ she carried that secret around and tried to act fine and okay, her mom did notice she’s a bit distant, of course like any loving mother she was worried for yunjin and became more attentive to her only daughter. ⇢ her mom found out eventually - around the age of nine - her mom was scared but accepted yunjin (i mean that’s her daughter), they made sure to keep everything a secret because it was scary if everyone else in the family will find yunjin monstrous and kick her out. ⇢ yunjin tried her best to keep it hidden from everyone and for a while she hated that part of her. she got curious of herself, of this weird thing she has going on, of her being half-birb, birds fly so she tried to learn how to on her spare time when she’s all alone and no one can see her. ⇢ she got reckless in flying around the estate and eventually her older brother and cousin found out. they freaked out and so did yunjin, but she tried her best to explain herself, her older brother is understanding (i mean that’s his sister!) and he had to threaten their cousin not to snitch. ⇢ anyway one day a rumor around their estate spread. because one of her uncles saw her flying around because again she’s a reckless little shit, that there’s probably some kind of monster or like a really big bird they have to hunt down cos they think it was her stealing some crops or whatever but it’s most likely crows. ⇢ her mom confronted her and berated her that that’s really stupid of yunjin and that she should be more careful then her father overheard and demanded them to tell him, he forced yunjin to show what her mother was talking about and she did and he got freaked out and screamed and it was really ugly. ⇢ yunjin’s anxiety peaked after that incident, so at sixteen stupid bitch ran away from home, afraid that her family will disown her now. eventually she ended up in new york, i have no idea how she took care of herself during those times, but eventually she heard of essex house and strolled/flew? her merry way there and signed up for that shit. (little did she know that’s going to be one of the biggest regrets she’ll have one day)
life during essex house. ⇢ regrets ensue. it was not the best time of her life. fear, hatred, confusion blossomed inside yunjin. every day she woke up she wondered if she’s going to survive their experimentation and forced training on her. ⇢ she became braver though, learned to love that part of herself she hates, learned to take advantage of her gift, she became determined to grow stronger, to learn and know better because she didn’t see the point wasting her time self-pitying when she can do something about her situation. ⇢ yunjin wanted to escape that hell hole, but she never really got the opportunity to, since she knows she has to be smart about it. ⇢ thankfully a miracle fucking happened and someone finally did something about it. life after essex house. ⇢ she really had no place to go to, she’s not sure if she’s even welcomed back home, so she accepted the help monique offered. she’s forever grateful of them for giving her shelter. ⇢ it was rough for yunjin, the moment she got out she immediately went job hunting, it took time but she landed one at gracie’s diner. ⇢ her vibe right now is trying to survive the real world. wanted connections. ⇢ former essex house resident ⇢ friends ⇢ enemies ⇢ childhood friends ⇢ regulars in gracie’s ⇢ anything at this point, just dm me!

III. Background
He came in this world on Valentine’s Day—on a morning where the temperature dipped and teased (but did not fulfil) the promise of frost. That time of year, when the gray clouds rolled in and the Atlantic lay stagnant like a great black cloth, the tourist town in which Ashley Duran grew up sat empty. Summer would, of course, bring tourists once again and a reprieve from the stillness. But the boy himself had already shattered any semblance of quiet to which his mother may have been clinging.
He was, of course, a surprise, not necessarily an unwelcome one, but an unexpected one, the product of short-lived fling that really did not mean anything to anybody. To that end, there was not a father waiting for Ashley, but there were still grandparents, a man and woman who managed a small motel for an “out of towner” during the “season” and relied on that season to fund them for the rest of the year.
They would stand by their daughter, and in their small but warm home, she would bring up her son. The three of them named him after somebody’s uncle, although he himself would never meet the man. He once heard he smoked too many cigarettes, and that was perhaps the habit Ashley would eventually inherit. Still, despite the long dreary winter months, his childhood was largely a pleasant one, punctuated by beautiful, blazing Junes and the promise of the boardwalk coming back to life.
What Ash himself could not shake, though, was the monotony. The splendor of summer could not last forever, and as a child, he grew too tall too quickly. Until his classmates caught up, then, he could dominate the schoolyard by throwing his weight about if only to have something to do. A troublemaker with a smart mouth, inherited from his grandmother, he became popular only for his rebellious streak, not necessarily charm. He knew how to get free games out of pinball machines and how best to hide candy in one’s pocket while shoplifting. Classmates were afraid to stand up to him.
To that end, there was a time where braces were the worst thing to ever happen, the single, most awful affliction that would ruin his entire image. Although his grandparents and mother had saved, in earnest, for the orthodontics, he did not take to them easily. Funnily enough, however, the braces themselves would kick off the chain of events that revealed his true nature.
That year, the President had made an historic speech, one that revealed there existed a group of people all around them who were different. Ashley can remember even now, with embarrassment, to his credit, jeering across a classroom at one of the shorter boys: “Look out! It’s a mutant!”
But then, the braces came off, and Ashley found that he had, to his surprise, started to grow into his own face. On a date, then, his first, with a local girl, he begrudgingly joined her in an arcade photo booth. And having grown accustomed to not smiling, lest he show his metal mouth, he earned them a strip of particularly dour looking snapshots.
That night, though, Ash would psychically imprint an image for the first time, double exposing a proper smile on the pictures. And it was with utter horror that he realized that he was the other, the something else.
The revelation, though, did seem to sober the teenager eventually, perhaps reframing the things he once took so seriously. Only bullies sneered at people for things they could not control, and having done just that, he resolved not to anymore. The kids around him began to catch up to his height, no longer cowed by him, and Ash, for the first time, found a personality and a real sense of humor. He made genuine friends, ones who sincerely liked him. And while the troublemaking streak never quite left, he still found his heart.
He played with his abilities throughout high school and made up stories about seeing aliens or meeting famous people, things he could “prove” with a hastily created photo. And to that end, Ashley found himself genuinely well-liked, something of a hometown hero, beloved for his wealth of eccentric experiences, but still a veritable bad influence.
Still, a teenager with a big mouth and a slick joke or an unbelievable story, one who can sneak you a cigarette or get a tourist to buy you a six-pack, is still very different than an adult, The people around him began to go to university or get married, and Ashley simply did not. He began working odd jobs, along the boardwalk, in the motel, about town, but genuine ambition never quite arrived. And the boredom never quite went away. He lived, as always, for the summers, when he could break tourist’s hearts and regale outsiders with his signature tall tales.
After a decade of it, though, the trip to New York came on something of a whim only a month ago, a grand, spontaneous relocation spurred by a current girlfriend, who was going to be a fashion designer and broke up with him almost as soon as they stepped off the train.
Pride perhaps has prevented Ashley from returning home, but settling into the city, he has managed to hold down a job at a video store, where he continues to expand on his powers. However, he is still very much up to his old tricks, caught in the rut of laziness and the sort of directionless apathy that has always guided him.
Perhaps now is the time for him to really blossom into his own; he just needs a guiding hand. That said, he has successfully kept his mutant status a secret with no real need to perform any feats beyond silly parlor tricks.
