Maya and the Three + Analog Horror

Hey guys! I have been thinking of a Maya and the three au. So I’ve been interested in analog horror, and thought if Maya and the three + analog horror would make a pretty good au.

So here’s my summary of the au. In the modern times, a newly wed couple (Maya and Zatz) are two archeologists, while having an expedition throughout South America, as well as their honeymoon 😁, but they hear rumors, that people have gone missing in the forests of Brazil, as well as in the mountains of Peru. There have also been rumors of vengeful spirits roaming around South America, looking for those who wronged them. These spirits are known as “The Three” (Rico, Chimi, and Picchu) and there is also a story, of 3 outcasts from Luna Island, Jungle Lands, as well as the Golden Mountains, who were forced to be sent to the god of war, Lord Mictlan, in order for the kingdoms to be saved. The Three died very brutal deaths, and because of Lord Mictlan, cursed to live as monstrous entities, for 500 years. The Three had hope, that the Teca army, but they came too late, and were slaughtered as well. There were gods who chose to escape because of Lord Mictlan’s insanity (Camazotz, Lady Micte, Vucub, Cipactli, and Cabrakan). The escaped Gods went away and started new lives in North America. The wife of Lord Mictlan, Lady Micte, started a family with a man and his wife, and they loved each other very much (King Teca and Queen Teca), and had 4 children. Two children are also expected from the family. Lady Micte then decides stop Mictlan, as well as free the spirits of the Three, but she sadly fails, along with Camazotz, who also left his family behind. Before going to South America to stop Lord Mictlan, Lady Micte makes a video message to Maya, one of her youngest children, that she’s sorry she had to leave her behind, because of a cause, as well as revealing that she’s the Goddess of Death. This leaves to a 27 yr old Maya, and her new husband, Zack (Zatz), while also having their expedition, as well as their honeymoon, to look for their missing parent, as well as free the Three

And now, for the Three!

Rico: Rico’s a very tragic soul, whose limbs can float, as well as his head. He tends to stay hidden from the people, who don’t know that he lives in this part of the area. But he also has company and basically journeys through South America with his friend, the Stone Giant (Picchu), while also trying to seek friendship from the Forest Spirit (Chimi). However, if angered, he will try to kill, with his magic. There is a 50% chance that you can survive Rico. But if you succeed in being friends with Rico, he will come with you, as well as have faith in you, to get the other two of the Three. He may look dangerous, but he’s just hurt, wanting to go home. He also disguises himself as a beggar when the sun arrives, always wearing a scarf, so people wouldn’t see that his head’s floating. Whenever he floats with his head, his hair also spreads, like Medusa. He also does Peasant Magic, which he mastered over the 500 years of his misery. He will try to help you go against the God of War too, as well as finding the other spirits. Rico always wanted to be lovingly embraced, if a mortal understands what he has been going through.

Chimi: Chimi’s a soul who has been deeply wronged, and is the one with the most vengeance. She has no lower body, her arms are stretched and sharp, so she can slice victims, but she also knows how to use her bow, often jumping and shooting. She has very sharp canines, clothes covered in mud and blood, her hair down and messy, her very tainted makeup, pitch black eyes, and also a very, very disturbing smile. She often talks to the Stone Giant, and also to the Sorcerer Spirit, sometimes, and often has a soft spot for them, that they are suffering the same fate as her too. If angered, Chimi will chase you on her arms (like the Japanese yo Kai, Teke Teke), and will slice the victim with her hands. Another alternate, she will try to shoot her bow at you, and once you’ve been impaled by one, she will pounce and attack you. There is a 30% chance you can survive against Chimi. If you do end up making friends with the spirit, always, I mean always, make sure that you’re not going to leave her behind, as well as betray her, so she wouldn’t get hurt and try to kill you again, but if you do, she will be very loyal to you, as your protector, while also being starved of physical affection.

Picchu: Picchu is a soul made of stone, who always roams around the Andes Mountains at night, and turning into a mountain when day comes. Picchu’s eyes are just two very deep holes, with jagged cracks below, and is always crying two water falls. He doesn’t talk, but can make sounds to show how he’s feeling. His hair is grass and vines, as well as a fruit tree on his head. He sometimes walks around the mountains, with his friend, the Sorcerer Spirit. Picchu isn’t really a spirit that kills people, but when angered, his body will have cracks, with lava inside, and well as his hair also turning into lava. His chest has a very huge hole that goes through his body. He and Rico are the most nicest spirits from the Three, but also likes spending time with his friends. There’s a 10% chance if you can survive against Picchu. If you become friends with Picchu, he’s really nice once you get to know him, and he’s also really sensitive, if you hurt his feelings. Picchu will try to give you a ride around the mountains, as well as the whole South America, if he doesn’t get caught. He too, has been starved of physical affection.

Perhaps my interest in birds was not as “Normal” as I thought…

Seriously, Vucub had to be my favorite in Maya and The Three bc he’s a giant humanoid bird. I remember looking at all the Gods’ designs and going “Ooh pretty girls…HOLY SHIT THAT’S A BIRD!”

Not only that, we saw the other Gods simply hate humans just bc they’re humans and see themselves above humans. Vucub had a legitimate reason to be angry at humans, they killed all his Jungle animals! And he is the God of Jungle Animals! That conversation he has with Chimi is so important to me bc the scene is like a reflection of Chimi. He reminds Chimi of how she was dehumanized and raised by animals and then humans killed her animals, saying how humans are terrible and calling her a traitor

But! While talking to her, he realizes that he shouldn’t kill all humans and that not all of them are bad. She informs him how she has learned that she can trust some humans and they aren’t bad. He then decides not to fight Chimi or her friends and simply leaves them alone and comes back during the final battle to fight alongside our heroes just like Cipactli and Cabrakan and Lady Micte

I just love his design. All the designs are banger but he may actually be my favorite design

Cipactli: (Sips Maya-themed drink. Stops when Mictlan glares at her) Heh heh. Thirsty?

Cabrakan and Cipactli

I got the urge to try my hand at the 9 children of La Muerte and Xibalba. So here they are! 😂

Now, I attempted to base it on El Tigre character concept art styles and a dash of research into Mesoamerican mythology, but I may go back one day and do it more like my own/ take my time on details.

Sartana, we know from El Tigre.

Then there's Mariposītz (a spin on the Spanish word for butterfly and the goddess Ītzpāpālōtl). She used to have these black butterfly wings, but I imagine the thing that got Sartana banished from the realm of gods was her removing them in a jealous rage because she was the only of their siblings who had wings like their father and the potential to become a death goddess to replace Lady Micte. I wondered about just letting her BE Ītzpāpālōtl, (and maybe calling her Lottie) but I'm going to have to do more research for that. 😅

Ek Cacao is based on Ek Chuaj, the deity of merchant travel, war, and chocolate. I wanted them to have a kid with a melted chocolate theme, but then I learned there actually IS a Mayan god affiliated with chocolate, so BOOM!

Sombra is made of shadows, but has a sort of bandito theme, and I liked the idea of him being obsessed with teeth (especially the old bejeweled Mayan kind). Since his mom and some of his siblings are made of candy, I thought it was funny if he was more of a "tooth fairy" character who carried a a macuahuitl.

Pantano is made of swamp murk and stone, and is supposed to be more elemental, like La Noche and Chamuco. His size is similar to Mictlan, but he is more of a timid, gentle temperament and is greatly invested in nature (kind of like post-quinceañera Micte, I guess?). His design could use some work, but I was going for the JRG luchador style. Accidentally, I think he turned out a lot like Cabrakan and Cipactli from Maya and the Three.

Xochitl is based on poinsettia flowers and I ran with that for a whole Christmas theme. I wasn't sure if I liked black hair like La Muerte or Silver color like Xibalba, so I did the anime thing and just split it down the middle.

For the last 3 sons, Mayor, Menor, and Sol Bemol, I wanted small, mischievous triplets, personalities akin to the "detention schoolkids" from the Book of Life. They're named after musical notes as an homage to Manolo's guitar playing which inadvertently helped rekindle La Muerte and Xibalba's marriage. I was calling them the "Alux Trillizos", Alux being little sprites in Mayan mythology, and Trillizos like "triplets" or like the chords played on a Spanish guitar.

So quick thing about Maya and the Three

SPOILERS AHEAD BTW

Aside from two minor issues there was only one major thing that's bothered me about the show

And it's these three and how the show/Jorge Gutierrez "utilized" them.

Acat and the Skele-twins are, in my personal opinion, the most underused Goddesses in this show.

Let me explain.

Acat is delegated to an off-handed love interest to Zatz in a relationship that does nothing to the plot (and then gets killed off and seemingly forgotten about.

Heres how I'd have fixed Acat:

There are better ways they could've used them (maybe have Acat flirt with Zatz, alluding to her interest in him idk anything other than their "relationship" in the film)

Acat and Zatz being together does nothing for the plot and, if you remove that one detail, the plot would remain the same.

As for Bone and Skull:

They just really annoy me because it feels like Gutierrez just didn't know what to do for anymore God's and made another set of twins.

Hura and Can are actually intimidating, prove to be challenging for the main group, and are integral to the actual plot. Bone and Skull are just kinda there honestly?

Like compared to Xtabay and Cipactli they're not as interesting physically just shorter versions of the Adolita Cousins from the Book of Life

And they aren't thematically relevant either, since their only notable feat is that they belittle Maya and threaten to steal the gifts left behind by her brothers (and after one dies the other is left as a joke character and then killed off by Miclan)

Comapred to Xtabay who uses their fears against the characters and actively confronts Picchus morals/past while Cipactli becomes an ally alongside her husband Cabrakan.

You wanna who would've been cool to see as a Goddess instead of these two?

The Scorpion Warrior from Picchu's past.

I've seen some people complain about how alot of the women in Maya don't have as much creativity behind them as the male characters do, eith some exceptions. But are we really going to ignore this chick who i haven't seen alot of people talk about?

Scorpion Warrior is the one who killed Picchus family/entire village.

And she is by far my favorite secondary character in the film and I stand by this.

But pray tell, why is she my favorite? Well how about a list of reasons:

Has arguably the most unique design for a female besides Lady Micte.

Is responsible for what is one of the saddest character origins in the whole series.

Scorpions are always a plus.

So yes I do in fact thoroughly enjoy this character, but why do I think she should've been a Goddess?

She has arguably more presence then Bone and Skull, she has a much more unique design and is by far more standout than the Skele-Twins, and is arguably more intimidating than most the other female gods.

Adding on to that she could have added more fun banter with other Gods and Goddesses (I imagine her having been very loyal to Miclan)

But now you may ask, "How would one character fill the void left by 2 others?"

Simple:

Combine the Skele-Twins

You can still have a Goddess of Theivery you don't need to have 2 of them; you can even keep the pirate theme and have the one Goddess be something like "Madame Refelar, Goddess of Theives" (Refelar being a Spanish word for Steal) don't quote me on that I haven't done Spanish in years that's a ruff example

And if you wanted to you could even keep the sibling dynamic between the Goddess of Theives and (in concept) a Goddess of Scorpions.

Yes it's a sibling dynamic, but you don't have another generic twin gimmick like with Bone and Skull or Hura and Can.

One sister is a Thief, and the other is a Backstabber (Scorpion Warrior directly quotes the story of the Frog and the Scorpion even)

As far as a name goes for Scorpion Warrior maybe Alacrán again a ruff example don't kill me for my Spanish if it's bad

Also just something that I think would've been cool to see, in the first all out battle between Mayas group and the Gods, have Alacrán lead them into battle alongside Chivo; and while they fight have Alacrán battle Picchu and have Xtabay and Relefar fight Maya since that thematically makes more sense.

Picchu confronting his demons in the form of Alacrán doesn't change his actual fight when comapred to the film as it can still end the same way.

And when Maya fights with Xtabay and Refelar they can have Xtabay uses her illusions to belittle Maya into blaming herself for her brothers death, while Refelar attacks her from the shadows.

And come the end of the fight when they're united against the Gods have Maya still kill a God, but have it be Refelar (it'll play out like when she killed the one twin)

Alacrán can be enraged, swearing vengeance on Maya just like the other twin did in the original scene.

And when the climax comes pit her against the Puma Army in place of the remaining Skele-Twin (keep that comment about one at a time or all at once, and add a side remark about Picchu and how she'll enjoy destroying the rest of the Puma people like they did)

The relationship with the Scorpion Warrior and Picchu, and possibly the Scorpion Warrior being a Goddess herself could've made for a great addition to the story.

I'll admit this was more of a rant then i planned, but hey these happen.

Maya and the Three / Maya x (god/goddess of parties reader) Platonic

(Saw a story about if Lord Mictlan died and Lady Micte took Maya to live with her and the other gods and goddesses. They then had a second quinceañera for Maya, so I’ll be following that plot a bit. I don’t own the AU since I’m getting ideas from someone else I just didn’t get their username.)

“Are you not enjoying the party mi flor?” Lady Micte asked leaning over to look at her daughter who was watching all of the other gods mingling. “No no, I am!” Maya answers waving her hands and fixing the beads in her hair. “But?” Micte ask. “I don’t know I just feel a bit out of place,” Maya signs.

She’s talked with some of the gods and goddesses that helped her mother, but it was hard since she felt like an outcast being only a Demi-god. Sure Zatz was there too but Acat was protective over him and was always around him at any chance. Didn't help that Acat hated Maya. Camazotz was her mother's right-hand man and was quick to become a good father figure for Maya since he too had a Demi-child (not a Micte & Camazotz ship).

Cipactli was quick to grow on Maya taking care of her as if she were her own daughter teaching her how to fight and stay safe. Cabrakan wasn’t as quick as his wife, but soon also warmed up to Maya (partly just to make his wife happy). The other gods such as Hurra and Can, Xtabay, Skull and Bone, and Vucub would casually talk with Maya, but not that much not that they hated her just they saw no real interest. Chico was just a bitch, still mad about the fall of Lord Mictlan he would use his magic to make Maya’s new life in the underworld slightly harder. I didn’t help that some of the other gods found these pranks to be funny. Luckily Cipactli was always quick to help and put Chivo in his place.

Taking a sip of her drink Maya turns to the god/goddess her mother was talking to. They looked cool and fun having some bright color paint on their body and messy hair with confetti stuck in it. “Are you having fun?” The other god/goddess ask. “Huh? Oh yes!” Maya answers.

“Oh how rude of me!” They exclaim bowing down. “I am (Reader) God(dess) of Parties. I would have meet you early when you were given gifts, but I was busy helping set up. Speaking of gifts here,” you offer holding out a wine bottle to her. “(Reader)! She can not be drinking that this early in the party!” Micte scolds. “What? Why not I wasn’t sober at my party,” you justify “Hell most gods and goddesses aren’t”.

Taking the bottle Maya then gives a quick thanks feeling shadowed by the other outgoing god(dess). “Maya why don’t you go with (Reader) to meet some of the other guests. They’re quite a social butterfly and know about everyone in this room,” Micte explains. “That’s sounds wonderful!” You exclaim grabbing Maya’s arm. “Come on I’m going to show you how to really party!” You finish before dashing off pulling Maya behind you as Micte laughs at the sight.

After a while of you dragging Maya around meeting new gods and introducing her by her name and not Micte’d daughter or as the Demi-god of death. You were fun always cracking jokes and making sure Maya was involved in the conversation, but also that the attention wasn’t just on her so she felt comfortable. At one point Maya mentioned how Chivo was messing with her.

“Wait here and watch,” you say getting up and making something with your magic, but it was hide from Maya’s view. “Hey Chivo?” You ask sliding in next to him as he talks with Vucub and Xtabay. “What do you want?” The god retorts. “How’s the party huh? Does it live up to your standers?” You inquire getting ready. “I suppose,” the goat responds carefully. “Have you had anything to eat?” You ask getting closer. “No not ye-,”

Bam!

“Why you!” Chivo shouts with pie dripping down his face. Xtabay and Vucub cackling as they lean on you for support while other gods turn to see what’s the commotion before joining in the laughter. “What? You said you were hungry,” you say innocently. “Alright alright here,” you say offering the smaller demon a handkerchief. Taking it Chivo becomes surprised as it seemed to just continue to come never seeming to end.

“What is this?!” He exclaims getting frustrated. “It’s magic man. Aren’t you the god of magic anyway,” you say pulling the handkerchief out all the way making the god look like an idiot. “God of black magic to you!” He shouts storming off as you turn toward the two other gods.

“How about you two? We you having a fun party?” You ask. “(Reader) any party with you is always fun,” Vucub says patting your back. “Agreed,” Xtabay adds. “Wonderful! Catch you at the after party!” You call out as you leave to go stand next to Maya again. “Soo?” You ask. “That was amazing!” Maya cheers jumping up and down. “I- what- how?!” “Oh just some old party tricks,” you wave your hand like it was nothing.

“You have to show me how you did that!” Maya pleads giving you puppy dog eyes. “Only if you agree to come to one of my parties,” you add. “Deal!” She exclaims shaking your hand. “Great! Now I’m hungry after that pie gig,” you say looking for the food table. “I guess meeting all of those gods and goddesses made me hungry too,” Maya adds. Leading the way you walk up to one of the tables.

“Mine!” “No it’s mine give it back!” Bone yells trying to take the glass back. “What’s happening?” You ask heading over to help as Maya grabs a plate. “She took my drink!” Skull explains pointing to her sister. “You already had some!” Bone responds. Grabbing the glass from the two you snap your fingers causing the glass to duplicate. “There now you each have your own,” you say handing them each their own. “Thank you (Reader)!” They exclaim running over while giggle with each other.

”You’re like really good at making people happy,” Maya says munching on some weird underworld berries. “Huh? Oh yeah,” you answer grabbing your own plate. “It’s kind of my thing since the whole god(dess) of parties and whatnot, but I also feel the vibes from people,” you say taking a bit. “The vibes?” Maya questions. “Yeah if someone wasn’t having a good time I can see a dark cloud around them and I know that I have to go help so that their energy doesn’t rub off on others. That's why I have such killer parties since I make sure all of my guests are having fun,” you finish taking a swig from some wine.

“Who makes sure you’re having fun though?” Maya ask. “No one really besides alcohol,” “That’s ruff,” Maya mumbles taking another bite. “Yeah, but hey I think I have I new friend to keep my sprites high,” you say nudging her. “Who?” Maya asks clueless to your hints. As you give her a blank stare Maya starts to get nervous she said something wrong. This thought was cut short as you burst out laughing. “Girl you are just a hoot,” you say between laughs. “O-oh thank you,” Maya responds slightly embarrassed.

“Ah don’t worry about it!” You exclaim punching her arm. “And that is why you’re going to be my new friend,” you add putting your plate down. “Me?” “Sí,” “But why I’m not as cool as the other gods and goddesses,” Maya says as she looks around at all of the gods who are way more powerful than her. “Psh, that’s the thing all gods and goddess are kind of boring,” you retort waving your hand.

“Don’t get me wrong there are some good ones, and it’s great to see family again, but they’re all mostly self-centered. Besides your are funny, smart, and brave. By the way you have to tell the the story of how you sacrificed yourself,” you ramble causing the Demi-god to get confused. “Of course, there are others like my fiancé (insert your favorite god(s)/goddess(es)/human(s)) who I adore, and your mother is great too, but she’s a little too serious for my liking,”

“You want to be my friend?” Maya asks looking up at you. “Yeah, why?” You ask looking down at her. “Do you not want to?” “No no no! I would love to be friends I don’t have that many friends here,” Maya explains. “What about Zatz aren’t you both Demi-gods?” You question. “We are, but he’s dating Acat and she can be…protective,” “Psh more that obsessive,” you chuckle. “True,” Maya laughs.

After a while of you two just standing in a comfortable silence you break it. “Come in let’s get you back to your throne so you get more gifts and once this party is done you can ask your mom if you can go to the after-party,” you explain starting to walk. “After-party?” Maya ask rushing to catch up with you. “Yeah I always host an after-party after most events, of course, if the main host is there then it gets really lit, but if you don’t want to I won’t force you. Cause that’s not what friends do,” you finish as you both approve the thrones. “They do tend to have more alcohol and gambling games though,”

“There you are mi flor. Did you have fun?” Lady Micte asks ushering Maya to sit down and tell her all about it giving you a cue to go and make sure others are still having fun. “Hey Mama, can I go to the after-party?” Maya asks sheepishly. “Oh, let me guess (Reader) hyped you up about it?” “Maybe,” Maya says stretching the word. “Hmm, (Reader)’s parties can get pretty intense,” Micte says thinking about it. “I'll she how I feel later,” Micte says sitting back to talk with a new god that came up to congratulate Maya.

“So can you make it,?” You ask walking over to the throne as other gods and goddesses leave to head to your own temple. “Well,” Micte starts. “Please mama! I’ll be safe and drink responsibly,” Maya begs. “(Reader)?” Micte ask looking over to you. “Your Highness,” you bow causing the goddess to smile at your antics. “I vow to keep Princess Maya safe and have her home by a reasonable time,” you say standing back up and talking in a silly accent.

“Alright you can go,” Micte says gesturing for Maya to leave. “But change your clothes I don’t want to party in your nice clothes Acat gave you,” she orders. “Fine,” Maya groans walking away. “Acat gave you those?” you ask as you walk down the halls together. “Yeah, it was her gift, but really she just wanted to get rid of the old outfit,” Maya explains.

After changing and stepping out of her room she sees you waiting down the hall talking to Hurra and Can. “Once off the bridge, you take a left and go straight till you come to a fork and take a right, not a left or you end up at my brother’s casino then follow the stairs till you see a bunch of bright colors,” you explain again. “Left, straight, right, stairs, colors. Got it!” Hurra exclaims before pulling his brother away. “There you are girl I’ve been waiting forever,” you sign dramatically. “Nice outfit by the way,” you add. “Thanks, I like yours too,” Maya says. “Really?” “Yeah, it’s so cool and fun just like you,” Maya answers. “You flatter me too much. Now come on!” You say using some of your magic to teleport to your temple.

“Ready to have the best party of your life?” You ask grabbing her shoulders and looking Maya in the eyes. “Totally,” she answers excitedly. As you both approach the doors with music blaring on the other side and gods and goddesses all laughing Maya starts to get nervous. “Hey don't worry I'll stay with you the whole time okay,” you reassure. “Okay!” Maya says with more confidence this time happy to know she now has a new friend who’s always going to look out for her.

They had a decent chunk of The Book of Life’s cast in Maya and the Three. Most notably:

Manolo = Zatz

María = Maya

La Muerte = Lady Micte

Pepe = Picchu

General Posada = Chivo

Luís = Cabrakan

My god! I knew all their voices were familiar but at the same time Manolo was the only one where I instantly recognized it. Absolutely crazy but I love it!

Also kind of funn that the actors that played Maria and Manolo also play each other’s live interests in this as well.

Okay but I love the Fight Scenes in Maya and The Three

Maya’s battle with Acat is one of my faves. I love the silly dialogue between them, The way Zatz is enjoying this and clearly on Maya’s side. And of course the line “That was amazing! If you weren’t trying to kill me, we could be best friends!”

I also found the battle with Maya and Rico vs Cipactli and Cabrakan kinda silly especially with the music. I love how Rico attacks one and then accidentally hurts himself and then Maya goes “Wait wait wait hold on, let me get the other one” bc it shows how they’re new to this

Maya and Zatz’s romantic fight scene is another one of my faves, the music is so good! And I love how Maya claims she’s gonna kill him and hates him yet has the biggest smile on her face and laughing and looking at him all lovingly and then they almost kiss during the fight. Seriously, they’re flirting with each other!

And when Maya and her friends have their very first Battle together as a team, I love it! It once again shows us how they’re new to this and get better

Then the final battle always has me close to tears bc it’s so emotional and there is so much happening 😭 I love it so much

So consider this an extension of this rant (kinda)

I really am miffed when it comes to The Gods and the lack of them cause like, here's the thing.

If you exclude Candle Maker, Xibalba, and LA Muerte, there are 11 Gods in total.

Which if you now most cultures and lore, that's not nearly as many as there can be.

But that's not my beef with it.

My beef with it is the personalities of alot of the gods and who they are as characters.

Acat is generic Love Triangle character

Hura and Can are meat-head twins

Cipactli and Cabrakan are bickering married couple and small ego husband

Bone and Skull are skeleton twin gimmick

Chivo is Satan that's the joke change my mind

Xtabay... there

And after that the only other gods with personalities are either the villain or characters who don't get nearly as much screen time as they should.

Lady Micte, Lord Mictlan, Vucub, and Camazotz are the only characters I personally think get propper screen time and character development.

Camazotz doesn't get much at the start other than "My boss is kind of a dick" but he does get more screen time as it goes by do I think he should've gotten the chance to fight at the end alongside Lady Micte yes yes I do

Vucub, despite having less screen time than Camazotz, does have a good bit of character growth/screen time, and he does help Chimi grow as a warrior with her bow/baggage with her family(also man went out like a GOAT)

Lady Micte and Lord Mictlan have most the character personality in the show, with Mictlan being one of the better "God of War" villains in a show, and Lady Micte having a solid arc going from "I willingly had a kid just to gain power" to "Yo wtf killing kids is bad maybe let's not do this"

But what gets me still is the other gods are just... there. Like if you enjoy Chivo or the Skeletwins thats fine, but personally theyre just there as filler. And yeah that's the idea since they're secondary characters not main characters. But here's the thing.

When a character who has a whopping 6 minutes of screen time has my interest over the actual God's and Goddesses in your show, maybe they need some tweaking.

I said it before and I'll say it again, Scorpion Warrior is one of the most interesting side characters in this and it sucks that we only get a glimpse to who she is, when she could've carried this film as a major antagonist, but instead she is delegated to just a footnote in Picchu's origin (but damn if it isn't one of the best origins)

It's characters like her that make me wish more of the gods were interesting, because let's face it alot of the Gods are boring.

I'm not gonna get too the designs since, like my last post, the only two who's designs I think aren't great are the Skele-twins; aside from them I'd say maybe pick something else besides a goat for Chivos form? Like you have a God of Black Magic maybe do more than just a generic Satan clone tell me I'm wrong

All in all, the gods could've been done more justice.

What is something about Maya and the three you have mixed/conflicting opinion(s) on? I'll go first.

One of these opinions is that I adore Zatz and Maya's relationship to bits but I would love their relationship way more if it was properly developed. Don't get me wrong, I'm aware the series in-universe most likely is in the span of about 9 months (regarding Queen Teca's pregnancy) and that the team behind the show did the best they can with the limited time they have with this creation. I knew the circumstances behind the scenes, but I can't help but feel somewhat unsatisfied by the way Zatz/Maya happened so fast to us viewers it's laughable.

I know many people voiced and opinion similar to this, but I want to let mine out....
