honestly, will and mike will always have a strong platonic relationship. they’re obviously best friends. BUT!!!! that’s not all there is between them. they are literally both so down bad for each other.

a strictly platonic relationship wouldn’t really work for them, because of the feelings they have for each other (especially if mike is still in a romantic relationship with el,,, we’ve literally been shown how will and mike don’t work as friends— ie. being unable to communicate with each other and having tons of misunderstandings— when mike is with el)

if mike wasn’t with el? i still don’t think that byler could be strictly platonic. they won’t be able to truly understand each other without the closure of knowing that they share romantic feelings for each other. if that makes sense???

idk idk i definitely prefer romantic byler over platonic byler. especially if we’re talking canon show
