Babel by R. F. Kuang (Go read it people, it's So Good. <3)

2) A book I recommend:

Babel as above, hah. Also, Murderbot.

3) A book that I couldn’t put down:

(Hard same:) Gideon the Ninth and Harrow the Ninth by Tamsyn Muir. I was listening to them as audibooks at night until some stupid AM. Couldn't stop, wouldn't stop.

4) A book I’ve read twice (or more):

"Eureka Street" by Robert McLiam Wilson. I love this book so much.

5) A book on my TBR:

Oh dear. What isn't on my TBR list.

The Poppy War, R. F. Kuang. Dune, finally. Olga Tokarczuk books I bought errr a year ago. Etc etc etc

6) A book I’ve put down:

I haven't yet, but I think I'll give up on the Archive of the Forgotten I'm currently listening to. I finished the first audiobook (Library of the Unwritten), but for the second one the narrator changed, and with it, the voice of the character I'm most curious about and ARGH. I may try and get the physical book, but audiobooks are a godsend if I want to do some crafts and read at the same time.

7) A book on my wish list:

Everything else by Martha Wells that's not Murderbot

8) A favorite book from childhood:

The Children of Bullerbyn Village by Astrid Lindgren (among many many many others. I lived in books as a kid.)

9) A book you would give to a friend:

Murderbot my beloved! I've convinced a few people to read it and I couldn't be happier. Those books deserve all the love.

“Alone, barefoot and in your night-robe? Please Ciri. As your political adviser I’d be embarrassed if you told such obvious lies.” She shook her head. “You were visiting general Voorhis chambers weren’t you?”

Some of the earlier anger flared back. “Were you spying on me?” she demanded.

Triss continued unfazed. “Of course not, don’t be absurd!” She waited a second before adding as an afterthought, “Fringilla was spying on you.”

I'll go with Ciri then, so that our brat is not forgotten - Witcher books/TW3 though it does feel like they're two different characters. Fortunately we have wonderful writers in the fandom that bridge that gap beautifully. A traumatised bi disaster kicking asses who deserves two donuts and a hug, and then some smooches from some hot people.

Mara Jade - Star Wars. My blueprint for badass women with weapons, Done With Everyone's Shit. "Heir to the Empire" was released in Poland during my formative years and I've never been the same again.

Chrisjen Avasarala - the Expanse. Seeing her chew the screen in season one, only to read the second book where she proceeds to chew and spit out and stomp over what's left of everyone for good measure was a delight.

My newest favourite gremlin: Harrowhark Nonagesimus - The Locked Tomb. A prickly pile of ambition and competency and guilt with a strong moral core hidden under a fuck-off or my skeleton construct will bite you attitude. Someone give her a hug and a puppy.

Seven of Nine - Star Trek: Picard. Have I mentioned competent women with weapons, tired of everyone's shit?

Some Sentences Some day

It was a childish hope that drove her to Stygga: a hope to put an end to the world's demands of her. Then came a bruised, beaten hope to be free when–he–let her go.

It's almost adorable how naive she still was, despite everything that happened. How she still believed in fairy tale endings, like in the stories Grandmother read to her in another life.

There will be no freedom for her to decide her own story–for this story isn't even about her. Nobody wants her, after all; nobody cares. They only want her spawn.

Poison of choice. Ideally Malbec, because (1) MENDOZA (and Argentina) MY BELOVED (Self-guided bike tour around the vineyards? Where they give you wine to try? For free? In each vineyard? Thank god they're spread out...) and (2) I've never had a bad Malbec and (3) since the grape grows in certain conditions, it's easier to come across as a snob even if you know fuck all about wines. Like me. 🤣

Coffee

I used to drink coffee only with milk, now I drink it black everyday, and treat myself to latte or flat white in cafés.

Coke

Original Coke only. Not Pepsi. Not Coke Zero or whatever other abominations are available. If it doesn't kick my brain into other dimension with the amount of sugar it contains, it doesn't count.

Mango lassi

A drink or a dessert, opinions vary. LOVE. Will indulge and get it any chance I have.

Tea

Black tea, no sugar in the country of choice, black tea with sugar in the home country. Green tea with jasmine, or peppermint tea. Tea is love.
