Playing devil survivor 2 and thinking about the concepts and plot points it introduces in the game. Mainly the Akashic Record.

It makes me think about like. The universe’s creation in Pokemashe and makes me want to incorporate the akashic record especially with the multiple timelines.

I might do a full write up about Arceus’s role in the universe, how it was created, and the record sometime soon it’s very interesting to think about worldbuilding wise.

Cain & Abel in Devil Survivor 1

Devil survivor is really the game ever.

The Norse God Loki is just casually just there. He’s knows the biblical Cain, Cain hates him. Loki is just hanging around Tokyo in the middle of a government lockdown just to see shit go down cause it’s amusing. He isn’t even a major character or anything, he’s just there. You won’t even learn that he’s Loki in most play throughs, so he’s just this weird guy who helps you sometimes. Or insults you to your face if you choose the bad ending or let a certain character die

that doesn’t even scratch the surface of stuff happening in the story, and while it may seem cluttered it all just works

Ah yes, the human world. Full of many many things be it anger, pain, sadness, or happiness. As well as the occasional soul that refuses to cross over for any rhyme or reason. Be it they have unfinished business or other reasons unkown to most. This soul in particular had been evading reapers for nine years now, her reasons for doing so unkown. Luckily there was some information on her for any reaper to go off of.

Name- Roxie Meadows

Roxie is a tricky case, somehow always managing to evade being guided over to the other side. She died in a car crash over nine years ago with her daughter, Luka Meadows, being the only survivor.

It is unknown why she refuses to let us guide her over, but if she keeps this up she'll likely fade from existence at this rate.

It's speculated that she's haunting her daughter as she's never to far away from the girl. In conclusion it would be best to find the Luka and it's likely you'll Roxy as well.

There have been been attempts to find Luka Meadows, but she has somehow managed to evade our sights as well. From what other reapers have said, the girl os not normal. She is in fact a half-devil. Her power is unkown but soul seeing seems to be one of them.

Luka Meadows is approximately sixteen years of age now, she has albinism and heterachromia with her right eye being red and her left eye blue as well as white hair, she stands at about 5'6 and is rather scrawny for her age.

While there isn't much detail on the daughter of the soul refusing to cross over, it should have been painfully obvious to any reaper why Roxie was refusing to cross over.

ARG-05

I traced him from @tenebris-metallum's wonderful work with his skitarii OC; and even with that, it took a long fucking time. My hand hurts :\

Still, I'm happy with how it turned out, and will probably use this as a reference! Problem is I always planned on their palm-eye being in their left hand, and the face-eye on the right. Oh well... if anything, both being on the right makes it more interesting. It might also change over time and depending on their incarnation.

With that being said... maybe it's time I properly introduce the little guy! I realize I've never actually talked about him here on Tumblr, just in the Discord.

This is ARG-05, short for Advanced Reconnaissance Guard, version 05. Even in the grim darkness of the 42nd Millenium, awful acronyms exist.

They were once Arestor Phasian III, heir to hiveworld nobility and wannabe commissar (and Cain fanboy) who ultimately had to settle for being a captain. Their cocky, devil-may-care attitude lead to them failing spectacularly as a strategist, and losing their own hiveworld of Patinae, and the neighboring forgeworld moon of Verdigris, to a tyranid onslaught. They only survived because they saw it fit to flee. An Arbiter looked over their case and took mercy, and decided on a punishment deemed more just than execution: they would be inducted into the Cult Mechanicus, apprenticing under one of the survivors of Verdigris. His family's (former) personal tech-priest: Magos Panoptes.

Suffice it to say Panoptes was not happy about the sudden loss of his own forgeworld, his home, and being stuck with the very man responsible for it only fanned the flames of his hatred. Under him Arestor endured acts of cruelty like no other, and was torn apart and rebuilt time and time again. They "died" four times in total, each death eating away at his mind more and more. Finally, he was rebuilt not as an apprentice, but as a skitarius. Panoptes' masterwork: ARG-05. Built, in a way, to fail. To scout ahead of forces and deliberately fall onto enemy hands, for the purposes of inside surveillance. To be found when the fighting was done and rebuilt, and sent back in. Over and over and over again.

All the while, Panoptes' bitterness began to fester. No matter what, he couldn't seem to get rid of Arestor, nor ARG-05, no matter how many times he sabotaged him and killed him and left him for dead. He fell into a putrid pit of his own bitterness, and sought to make a pact with Nurgle. ARG-05 seemed a fitting sacrifice, and was cast onto the altar. But at the last minute the god of fate, Tzeentch, thought to claim ARG-05 as his own, and wrestled control away from the plague god. ARG-05 was possessed, and killed Panoptes in a daemonic frenzy. (Or was it perhaps their own spite that drove them to do it?) Then they were forced to flee yet again, this time from the Mechanicus and the Inquisition. A heretic, an abomination, they wander from hiveworld to hiveworld, attempting to find redemption. Or is it purpose they search for?

Being under the control of not one, but two Chaos Gods, they have a plethora of cursed powers. The Eyes occasionally cast beams of pure Warp energy in fits of delirium, and can change color for... seemingly no reason? The most important aspect, however, is the fact that ARG-05 cannot seem to die. Ripped apart, burnt, dismembered, disintegrated... they always seem to wake up sometime after, in a body just barely repaired enough to keep them alive, and a mind even more fragmented than before.

In other words, his name is Shithead and he is a single-celled organism.

There is a very sad lack of historical fic and historical crossovers for Devil Survivor. One bunny that I had after the first few MCU movies came out was WWII.

Because Naoya’s reaction to the Nazis being after ‘a thousand-year Kingdom of Law’ would have been ‘fucking angels.’ And the whole ‘murdering everyone ‘impure’ or otherwise considered not good enough’ would have just confirmed it. 

So a lot of shit blowing up, and you have Howard Stark and Hydra super-science people in the MCU who would be able to look at the explosions and go ‘That’s something a lot more powerful than any explosive we have’ so you’d have like, everybody trying to get their hands on one particular resistance fighter. Who would stick out like a sore thumb except he figured out how to make colored contact lenses quite awhile ago & hair dye has been a thing since that one nephilim. 

One possible introduction would be Steve managing to finally find the guy’s current hideout and goes in and there’s a kid tied up in there?? Which is sketchy as hell only when they untie him and the kid’s bitching is translated it turns out this is his little brother and the dude has to tie him up sometimes to keep him from following him on missions. (Yea sure Naoya lets Abel run around in the Lockdown but like, that’s with demons and backup and he’s not like 8 at the time.) Bucky instantly has fellow-feeling for this dude who has to deal with a tiny lil bro who is raring to throw down iwith people 2x his size with machine guns. 

Lil Abel has a knife! And Naoya invented agriculture but Abel invented slitting throats~ He wants to kill Nazis too and he and Naoya are trying to find his birth family - Abel was separated from them and stuck on a train to the nearest gas chamber for immediate liquidation bc kids aren’t useful as slave labor. 

Howard doing a ‘you should lend your genius to the war effort!/let me use your ideas’ speech and Naoya going, ‘hahaha no, fuck America’ because he’s had a few lives in that country or among nearby Native Americans and they were Not Fun: he knows how that country treats the Othered. People do figure out at some point that Naoya’s got occult knowledge but that just makes him a bigger prize to people who were going after legends like the Cube.

But like, he’ll randomly show up where the Howling Commandos are going, “Ah there you are Bucky, babysit my murder child,” and Bucky is, “Only if you babysit Steve on the mission,” which is an acceptable trade bc unlike Bucky Naoya can fly and therefore can keep up with a running Steve instead of letting that maniac run around on his own. 

Anyway after Bucky falls from the train Naoya is like, “If I reveal I can resurrect the dead that’s like the only thing that could make me even more of a priority target, but on the other hand I take my eye off my little brother for two seconds and he’s stealing some of my supplies and recruiting locals to help him poison a Nazi dining hall’s food and do you know how hard it is to find babysitters with hero-wrangling skills okay.”

Hero: Th-that's what I've been told, yes.

Abel *softly, but with great emotion*: ...Dad?

Hero: ...I...What?!?!

-Naoya lowers his COMP-

Naoya: -turns to face Bel(l)- No more talking to him

Bell: -raises his COMP to show his copy of Loki- Do I need to get rid of this as well?

An East of Eden-themed Devil Survivor fic lives rent-free in my head. I feel like Naoya would really like the idea of timshel, although he definitely wouldn’t like EoE’s depiction of God.
