📚 Meredith & Isseya?

Meredith has always stayed consistent through and through. The only thing that changed about her and her story is that instead of killing Arl Howe with her bow, she took one shot with an arrow and decided he needed to feel more pain to match her suffering and instead took out her daggers to fight the man. She was always intended as a study in “oh this vengeance actually Helped” and has kept true to initial concepts.

Isseya has also stayed true to her original concept, because it was pretty solid and hasn’t had reason to change since she hasn’t seen any play time, only a little bit of expansion on her family and small tidbits of her story. Closest thing is her FC changing once or twice, but that’s just because I’m indecisive and sometimes things change what about it

i know wardens technically can’t have kids, but does your warden have kids?

Valerie and Alistair have two kids! Caleb and Duncan! 

Caleb was born two years before the events of DAI. For the first 5 years of Caleb’s life, Valerie was off trying to find a cure for the calling. 

Since Valerie wasn’t around much for the beginning of Caleb’s life, they are closer to Alistair. When Caleb was a toddler, Alistair would tell them stories about being a Grey Warden. As soon as they could walk, they had a sword in their hand. Alistair personally decided to teach Caleb all about being a warrior. 

Duncan was born in 9:44 Dragon when the Exalted Council met to decide the fate of the Inquisition. Alistair didn’t want to leave Valerie while she was recovering from childbirth, so he sent Teagan to the Council in his place. 

Since the disbanding of the Inquisition, Ferelden’s royal family would spend the summers at Skyhold. Here, Duncan could practice his magic safely. Although the circles were going to become better places for mages, Valerie decided to teach Duncan about magic.

fun little facts about my wardens

iloren mahariel: thank you complete bi overhaul for removing the weird gender restrictions from the origin mini romances. iloren and tamlen were very very close. they were basically the clan delinquents and spent literally every second of the day joined by the hip ever since they were liddol liddol. in my head they became close with merrill after iloren got in a literal actual fight with a clanmate that was bullying her when they were kids (tamlen was not at all involved in the confrontation before the fight but he still joined when iloren threw hands because of course), and since then merrill like. helped cover and lie for them whenever they snuck out at night to explore the forest and probably make out. oh also him and caleb are the ones with the most beef and anger towards duncan because he had to use to rite on both of them, so they obviously feel a little more like prisoners than recruits .

rourat brosca: i do think he was a little in love with leske but he also didn't trust him. at all. he doesn't trust anyone in orzammar besides rica don't worry about it. anyways in trisha's worldstate i imagine he probably actually Talks (he's mute) to leske for the first and only time as he's starving to death specifically to tell him to take care of his family, so when leske escapes he takes kalah rica and the baby to the surface. in my gay lil brain they're given heavy protection by the friends of red jenny, which endrin eventually joins once he grows up.

caleb cousland: okay fine bioware if you're so insistent on introducing casual mysogyny to the setting you literally introduced as equal treatment between genders i wanna actually Understand it. if i ever actually get around to doing a full run with him, caleb would theoretically be basically my way of exploring why and How sexism in thedas exists despite. andraste. he has the same weird mindset like 90% of the other npcs have if you play a woman ("damn you're a girl? you're a fucking woman? you're fighting and you're a chick? holy shit") and im hoping that like. roleplaying through that would give me a better meta idea of the religious and cultural attitudes behind it all. he would also spare loghain and marry anora in my brain and the entire landsmeet is going to make eamon go into another coma

trisha amell: omg ❤️ war criminal princess ❤️ not much to say that i dont think has already been yapped about, but i'll reiterate my entire thesis on her, which is trisha's character basically revolves around the idea of "innocence lost" and my personal favorite paradigms in dragon age's morality. like the warden is meant to be Young right. like they can't be any older than maybe 25 and even then i feel like that's a big stretch for most of them. and the magi warden has been raised in an extremely controlled and isolated environment all their life, and now suddenly they're thrown out into the big bad world and told they have to save all of it. they have the least experience and the least knowledge, and on top of all of that they're still essentially a child in the eyes of the world, and they are expected to lead armies and strategize against an enemy they know literally nothing about. how would that affect you, having your most formative life experiences revolve around war and suffering and death and betrayal and fear, all within the span of one year? you're gifted freedom, but is it really freedom if you've been forced onto a pedestal as an icon of hope, and all you've known since you've earned this freedom is violence? it makes for an extremely fascinating dynamic when she gets into politics that i'll always be a whore for.

brynne aeducan: ok i know gorim canonically gets married to someone else after the exile but i just think the idea of brynne being the wife he offhandedly mentions to the warden is cute. this means brynne actually never dies. don't ask how the hell that happens idk. i might write a little thing about that because that whole dynamic really does something for me. the power imbalance and rank disparity thats always loomed over their heads like a fucking anvil suddenly flipped and now they have to adjust and learn each others boundaries as equals. also she was named after her grandmother (brynhal aeducan) heart. her beef with trian is also tragic in that they were originally very very close when they were younger. he taught her everything he knew about combat and politics and she idolized him but their relationship got absolutely fucked up the older and older they got and he watched how beloved she was with the people of orzammar, until eventually bhelen saw the opportunity to exploit his envy and completely turned his siblings against each other.

dahlia tabris: iiiii'm still workshopping because. ok i'll be honest i'm mostly ambivalent towards the city elf origin so i kind of just played it entirely straight. but my mind does tend to veer towards making her the most cold out of everyone. she would probably have the most "evil" run because she grew up with a very "everyone for themselves" mindset. but by evil i mean like. she isn't cruel and she isn't going out of her way to hurt people, but she is very vengeful and ruthlessly practical. i would definitely have her side with the elves in nature of the beast rather than broker peace, probably kill connor, and i'd Consider siding with branka but the forced slavery makes me wonder so. i'll get back to you on that one .

Absolutely! Usually just a short ‘thank you’, but I still try to respond to anything I get!

Hmm, a lot of my fics fall into the ‘angst with a happy ending’ category, so that’s a bit hard to say... best fit for this would probably be To The Bride (Dragon Age, F!Cousland/Anora)

What’s the fic you’ve written with the happiest ending?

Again, hard to say! I have a lot of short fics that sweet & simple endings.  Coffee And Honey Cake (Pillars Coffeshop!AU) is probably the fluffiest all the way through, since that’s kind of my apology to Nona for her canon-verse being so angsty XD

Do you write crossovers? If so, what is the craziest one you’ve ever written?

Not really...I do quite a bit of AU’s, but that’s not really the same. Closest I’ve come is with The Dunryd Archives, my Pillars MagnusArchives!AU

What’s your all-time favourite ship?

*shrug*? I never really had a favorite ship, since my fav ships vary depending on my mood and what I’m into at the moment

What’s a WIP that you want to finish but don’t think you ever will?

I will finish all my WIPs! I cannot be stopped! (Although I admit  Prodigy has been on the back burner for a good while, but still. It will be finished!)

What are your writing strengths?

I think do pretty good characterization, especially with inner dialogue, and character relationships- I have been told I write good banter, which feels like a fantastic compliment XD

What are your writing weaknesses?

Plot, my goodness. I admire people who write original plots so much- I can make OC’s and world-build in my head, but I almost never have a plot to go with it

What are your thoughts on writing dialogue in other languages in a fic?

I don’t really have any? Obviously it works best if the author is actually fluent in the language and doesn’t just use Google Translate, but I don’t care much one way or the other

What was the first fandom you wrote for?

Harry Potter, which is probably like...the basic bitch of fandoms, lol, but middle school me loved it!

What’s your favourite fic you’ve written?

Ooh, that’s really tough! I like a lot of my fics for very different reasons. Of Diamonds And Dust (Dragon Age Origins novelization with Aeducan & Brosca) is the one I’ve been working on the longest, and I’m always going to be very fond of it. I think Divinity (Pillars, Goddess!Nona AU) has some of my best writing. And With Grace In Your Heart (Pillars, Desta character study) will always have a very special place in my heart because it was the first fic I wrote for Pillars and was when I really established Desta’s character.

4 ) What kind of clothing does your OC wear?

Elide — A big fan of skirts and dresses, though she hasn’t been able to wear much of either recently. She has begrudgingly adapted to wearing pants on her adventures. While currently in the North in the beginning of winter, she has taken to wearing heavy layers to combat the cold. (A drastic change for a lady who spent 23-years on an island that was almost in eternal summer.) Outside of her armor, she wears a pair of black pants, and a deep green long-sleeved shirt that is covered by a long black fur-lined coat in a hi-low cut that leaves her legs open, but satisfies her desire to wear a dress in some small way as it falls nearly to her ankles at the back and sides. On top of those, she wears a dark cloak with fur around its neck.Though!!! she very recently acquired a new set of studded leather armor, that as part of its enchantment she will no longer need to wear so many layers and is protected from the cold.Meredith — She is quite fond of her set of Grey Warden armor, and for some time wore that without much change. After stepping away from the Wardens and settling into her role as queen beside Alistair, she found herself wearing leathers still for just a little over another year as she adjusted to the noble life once more after time spent adventuring and battling near daily. For that year and some, she had taken to wearing some kind of protection to her upper-body while she eased herself into wearing skirts again. There was another adjustment period after that year where she felt comfortable enough to slip into dresses, but she was very glad in doing so. They come in varying styles, but Meredith is now often found to be in a long-sleeved dress that just keeps from trailing along the floor behind her as she walks. … Well, until she takes up that quest to hunt down the cure and she returns to wearing leathers. She doesn’t have an ounce of faith, but she was praying to the Maker that she would be able to adjust quickly to wearing armor again after only pulling it on every few months to keep herself from fully forgetting that feeling. 

8 ) What is your OC’s theme song? 

Elide — Stand By You by Rachel Platten. (Natural by Imagine Dragons is a close second, representing her growth that comes with her party’s goals.) A soft and cute song that wonderfully handles the theme of Elide being a source of support and comfort for many people in her life. Meredith — The Wolf by Phildel. There are a few other ones that would do well, but taking vengeance was a large part of Meredith’s story and this song does great with handling those types of vibes she had going. “You know the blood that I’m owed is all yours”, @arl howe turn on your location she just wants to talk

23 ) What is a random fact about your OC? 

Elide — Because she is trying to keep her uncle from discovering and/or copying her firearms, as he has been trying to see the designs finished for decades now, she has sewn concealed pockets into her winter cloak and hidden all of her finished designs in them. She had these pockets on her coat back in warmer locations as well, but had to swap for the North.Meredith —She keeps melee weapons strapped to her legs during adventures so that she can swap fighting styles if an enemy gets too close to her. This was a quick decision she made very early on after a darkspawn had closed in on her and she had to beat it into the ground with her bow itself. (She misses that bow, may have ruined it with that beating.)

44 ) How does your character react / accept criticism?

Elide — Depends entirely on who is giving her the criticism. If it is someone that she does not know well, she will give some clipped and automatic ladylike response to appease them and then not think about what they said again. Last movie I watched: Some horrible horror movie on Netflix, I’m sure. xD I’ve marathoned so much stuff on Netflix lately that it’s all kind of blurring together. Let’s see. Ah. The Haunting of Molly Hartley. It was garbage, but watching garbage horror is one of my favorite spare time activities.

Last song I listened to: The Plagues cover by Caleb Hyles and Jonathan Young. I sung along first until Moses’s bit in English and then the rest in Finnish lmao. xD (and before that, the whole entire Hamilton song list xD)

Last book I read: All the way through...? Hmmmm. I think Shepherd’s Crown by Sir Terry Pratchett, which was published posthumously. I cried.

Last thing I ate: ... sour cream and onion chips. What a healthy breakfast. xD #adulting!

Where would you want to time travel to: I’d love to see Finland pre-Christianity, see what life was like and see what the old religion of ours was like in practice. ;u;<3 It pisses me off we had this whole cool spirit-based religion/lifestyle before and then it was all just swallowed up by Christianity.

Fictional character I would hang out with for a day: Moominmamma. Just. Moominmamma. I really would like to try her fabled pancakes plus she’s just so. chill. I feel like I could learn so much from her.

If I could be anywhere right now, where would I be?  The family summer would be pretty cool. I haven’t been there in ages and I adore the atmosphere. ^u^
