Hello good evening I am thinking about Merrill. I am thinking about how sometime between the beginning of DAO and when Hawke finally makes it to the top of sundermount is a gap of OVER A YEAR. I am thinking about how Merrill decided in that year to rebuild the eluvian. I am thinking about how she decided to try and get a spirits help to do it. I am thinking about when that happened - probably pretty soon after the beginning of DAO because otherwise they probably wouldn't have taken the mirror with them to Kirkwall, and Flemeth implies that Merrill's clan is either already on route to Kirkwall by the time lothering is destroyed or already arrived. I am thinking about how people treat Merrill when you meet her. 'the keeper finally found someone to take you away' a member of the clan snears at her. Dalish clans are usually built up of about 50 members. 50. Being trapped with a group of FIFTY who are slowly coming to hate you and your decisions over the course of a year. When did they stop inviting her to tell them stories? When did they stop calling her their first? When did they stop laughing with her? When did they stop including her in her songs? For how long was Merrill sat around the corner to the main clan like we find her, staring at a piece of the mirror instead of being with her family? How often did Marithari bad mouth her in front of her family? How long was she so so so alone and so so so ostracized and unable to leave or do anything about it?
