Snowflake Challenge - Day 2

In your own space, share a favorite memory about fandom: the first time you got into fandom, the last time a fanwork touched your heart, crazy times with fellow fans (whether on-line or off-line), a lovely comment you’ve received or have left for someone. I'd actually had shallow roots in Star Trek, but way on the periphery; my oldest sister took me to a Star Trek convention when I was probably 12 or so (so late 70s?), and we got to meet a bunch of the cast.  That was cool and all, but I didn't feel like I was in fandom.  Then in 1993, The X-Files premiered, and I became a Duchovnik, setting up Squidge.org a year later.  Then came The Sentinel, and between the two, I began to write a bit.  And even though I was around fandom, I didn't feel like I was totally in fandom.  I really wanted to be in fandom with Scrubs, but again, it didn't happen. And then came a fateful work-from-home week back in 2010 when I blazed through both seasons of Sports Night - and I just had to find others who liked it.  That got me on LJ, and immsersed me into fandom for what felt like the very first time.  Before then, each diversion into fandom felt like a dry run; sitting in the DMV waiting room with a ticket number that never got called.  But after I delved into fandom, it was awesome - because I found people as passionate as I was.  But on top of that, I reconnected with my friend elderwitty  whom I hadn't talked to in like almost a decade! As for the last time a fanwork touched my heart, that could honestly be every time I interact with fandom in one way or another, because fandom has the bits of my heart that Patrick hasn't scooped up.  But I have what I call my "Cameron" moments; it's something that I experience when I read something that reaches down and touches my soul.  I've had a few of those, two in the SGA fandom, and once in the Breakfast with Scot fandom. When it comes to crazy time with fellow fans, some of my most memorable times are either when elderwitty  and I (and many, many others) did the Stargate Chicago Convention, or any of the times I went to Squee Weekend.  I miss both, but at least I get to go to Squee this year! ::knock wood:: And as for a lovely comment, I've received many compliments over the year, which touches me deeply.  But there are a few that I received from Claire (clwilson2006) who was an avid Parrish/Lorne fan, but not much of a Sheppard/McKay fan, when she would say things like, "Dammit!
