Montezuma’s Castle

We started the day off at Montezuma’s Castle. It was very crowded, but well worth the wait in line to get in. We did the short, paved walk around the ruins - very impressive! After that we drove over to Ft. Apache, we didn’t visit the fort but we did stop at the local park for a lunch break. We then headed down to Montezuma’s Well - this was a cool spot. A nice little oasis in the desert! We hiked up to the well and then down to the bottom of the well.

Located a few miles south of Montezuma’s Well is the incredible Tuzigoot National Monument. We are so glad that we decided to make the drive. The museum exhibits of artifacts is extensive and impressive. After checking out the museum, we climbed up to the pueblo. The views and the pueblo are incredible - such a great story of how they discovered the pueblo - well worth a visit when you are in this area.
