Hi, this is Part 3 of the Senses story that came out a few weeks ago, I hope you enjoy.
Sight : Sound : Smell : Taste : Touch : Cryptaesthesia
Jessie Fleming x Putellas!Reader
Description: R decides to cook for Jessie
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
"Alba, mija, go get hermanita, por favor," Mamí asked, her back turned to the table as she chopped vegetables.
“Alexia, Mamí asked you to go get hermanita,” Alba said, nudging her older sister with a raised eyebrow, hoping to pawn off the chore.
But Mamí’s ears were sharp, and she picked her middle daughter's words instantly. “Alba,” she warned, her voice deepening – a sound that always meant trouble. Both sisters recognised it immediately, their mother’s serious tone enough to end any argument before it even started.
“Lo siento,” Alba mumbled, a hint of embarrassment colouring her cheeks. But Alexia, never one to miss an opportunity to tease, shrugged, her face breaking into a cheeky grin.
“It’s fine, hermanita likes me more anyway,” she said with a playful smirk, sticking out her tongue as she darted off to find you before Alba could argue.
The funny part was, Alexia wasn’t wrong. You absolutely adored your oldest sister, had from the moment you were born. Your bond with Alexia was something special, something that couldn’t be defined in words. When you were a baby, crying inconsolably, Mamí, Papí and Alba would try everything, but it was always Alexia who could soothe you. With just a gentle word or a soft lullaby, be cooing and babbling, utterly content, gazing up at your big sister.
There were times you’d become grouchy and irritable, the way all toddlers were when their emotions overwhelmed them, snapping and shouting at anyone who tried to come near you. But Alexia would appear, and without fail, your scowl would disappear. Her presence alone was enough to melt your frustration, and you’d find yourself tucked into her arms, feeling the world slip away as you rested your head on her shoulder.
And if you were overtired, refusing sleep, she had a foolproof trick that only she seemed to know. She’d lie beside you, tracing soft patterns along your back, the gentle strokes lulling you to sleep in a matter of minutes. Her fingers in your hair or along your back always worked like magic, and you’d fall asleep knowing she’d be there when you woke up.
"Hermanita?" Alexia called gently, sticking her head through the doorway of your bedroom. When silence answered her, she stepped inside, only to find your room empty. A small frown crossed her face as she scanned the space, wondering where you might be hiding. “Hermanita?” she called again.
Just then, she heard a small thud from the room down the hall. Her bedroom.
"Hermanita, if you are in my room, así que ayúdame dios," she muttered as she stormed down the short distance.
Swinging open her bedroom door, she found you sitting on her floor, your little body tangled in one of her jerseys, your own shirt discarded to the side. You were trying your best to slip it over your head, your head fighting against the armhole instead, the collar twisted and bunched around your shoulders. Alexia couldn’t help but stifle a laugh.
“Hermanita, no," she squeaked, wincing as you continued to tug the jersey, the fabric protesting slightly. "That’s my Barça jersey.”
"But... but... I be you," you insisted, your small voice muffled as you struggled with the fabric, fully convinced that the shirt would fit if you just pulled hard enough.
Alexia huffed, guiding the fabric off your body. “Well, you can’t wear that one. It's my special Barça one for when I play professionally with them.”
“No, Ale, I you,” you repeated earnestly, as though that simple declaration should explain everything. You flashed her a wide, triumphant smile when your face reappeared, clearly proud of your clever plan to become just like her.
She shook her head, moving to crouch beside you, gently smoothing down the mess your hair had become. “How about my España shirt? The one that Papí got me with my name on the back?”
Your eyes lit up, and you nodded eagerly, lifting your arms up as you waited for her to help you slip into the new shirt. “Beno!” you chirped, beaming as Alexia grabbed the España jersey from her wardrobe and carefully slipped it over your head.
Once you were properly dressed, she leaned back on her heels, eyeing you with an affectionate smile. “So demanding,” she said, tickling your tummy, her laugh matching yours as you let out a giggle.
In response, you wrapped your arms around her in a tight hug, burying your face in her shoulder. For a moment, Alexia simply held you close, feeling your small hands cling to her, the warmth of your smile pressing into her shirt. To anyone else, you were just her little sister, but to Alexia, you were a tiny part of her heart that she wanted to protect more fiercely than anything.
You looked up at her, proudly patting the España logo on your chest. "I Ale," you said one more time, grinning.
Alexia laughed, pulling you even closer. "Sí, hermanita," she whispered, kissing the top of your head. "You can be me anytime you want."
“There you are,” Mamí laughed as Alexia walked back into the kitchen with you perched comfortably on her hip. “I thought we were going to have to send a search party.”
“Sending Alba to find us doesn’t count as a search party, Mamí,” Alexia replied with a smirk, sticking her tongue out at Alba, who was standing by the counter with a pout. You looked from Alexia to Alba, sticking your tongue out too, copying Alexia’s every move.
“Mamí,” Alba whined, crossing her arms. “They’re sticking their tongues out at me!”
“Ay, mijas,” Mamí sighed, rubbing her temple in exasperation. “Dame un momento de descanso, por favor.” She shook her head, but the hint of a smile softened her expression as she looked over at her three daughters. All three of you fell silent, looking a little sheepish
“Mamí?” You asked after a moment, voice sweet.
“Sí, pequeña?” she answered, looking over with that gentle warmth she saved just for you.
“What cooking? Smells yummy”
“Ahhhh, that,” Mamí said with a grin, stepping closer as she gestured toward the sizzling pan on the stove. “That’s my special recipe, mija.” She reached out, smoothly scooping you from Alexia’s arms and settling you on her own hip as she explained. “Mi abuela taught me how to make this paella when I was about Alexia’s age." She beckoned Alexia and Alba to come stand next to her. "She told me that it should only ever be made for the people you love.”
You looked up at her with wide, curious eyes. “You love us?” you asked in that innocent, serious way only young children can.
Mamí’s expression softened even more as she hugged you close. “Of course, I love you, mija. I love all of you. Con todo mi corazón. If you even have to ask, then I must not be showing it to you enough.” And before you could reply, Mamí smothered your cheeks in a flurry of warm, tickling kisses.
An excited peal of laughter burst from you as you squirmed in her arms, your laughter blending with Alexia’s chuckle and Alba’s giggles as they wrapped their arms around Mamí.
“Baby, what smells so good?” Jessie called as she stepped through the door to your flat. She had barely dropped her bags when the aroma hit her, filling the air with warm, rich scents.
“Oh, I’m just cooking some paella for dinner, is that okay?” you called back, glancing nervously between her and the simmering pan, the familiar mixture of spices and seafood filling the kitchen. You knew the recipe by heart, but you couldn’t help the little flutter of nerves. Jessie’s opinion always mattered.
“Is that okay?” she asked, eyebrows shooting up in delight. “I come home from a long day of forced shopping with Niamh and mi hermosa novia is cooking something that smells absolutely phenomenal. It is more than okay.” She grinned, making her way over to you, slipping her arms around your waist from behind. She pressed a gentle kisses to your shoulder as she worked her way up to your temple, the warmth of her touch seeping through your shirt and making you blush.
“It’s my besàvia’s recipe,” you explained, a soft smile on your lips. “She taught it to my mamí, who passed it on to me.” You glanced down at the pan, watching as the rice absorbed the fragrant broth. “When I was little, she’d say esta paella solo la haces para la gente que amas.”
"W-what does that mean?" Jessie asked gently, her hands rubbing soft circles against the skin of your stomach.
"You only ever make this paella for the people you love." You looked at her as best you could, trying to gauge her reaction.
Jessie’s face softened as she absorbed your words, her hands pressing you back against her. “Well, I feel incredibly honoured,” she murmured, her voice low and full of affection. She rested her chin on your shoulder as she gazed at the pan with you, inhaling the mouthwatering smell. “I love you too."
You looked down, smiling at how natural it felt to share this with her. “I was hoping it’d feel like home,” you admitted, tilting your head slightly to rest against hers. “A little taste of my family here, for us.”
Jessie’s arms tightened around you, her lips finding your temple in a tender kiss. “You’ve already made this feel like home,” she whispered. “But this just makes it even more perfect.”

MILE HIGH - Jessie Fleming x Reader (18+)
Tumblr media
A/N: Hey all, I've been struggling with writers block on top of life stuff lately so I've not been writing. I've had this idea for a couple of weeks and finally pumped it out, I don't know if it's any good and I haven't proofread it. I just wanted to give you guys something as I've had a lot of people asking. Word of warning this might be my last post for a long time as I'm just not feeling it lately, I apologise that I have left some fics unfinished and will eventually get them done. Just for now I will be taking an indefinite break.
Synopsis: Jessie and you go on your honeymoon
W/C: 2.2k
Warnings: g!p, smut, oral (both), penetrative sex, breeding kink, marking, choking, little dirty talk, gagging, think that's it?
MDNI 18+
Yourself and Jessie had taken many flights before, her for games wether with club or National team. Yourself following her around the country and the world.
What was rare though was for you and your wife to be taking the same flight somewhere, god it felt so good saying that, wife. You'd just eloped and now here you were sat next to her on the airplane taxiing down the runway on your way to your honeymoon.
You'd managed to strike it lucky with the flight as the aisle seat next to yourself and Jessie wasn't taken so after some time in the air you decided to lay down across the seats covering yourself with a blanket as the cabin lights dipped.
You wanted to get some sleep as you'd already been up for hours, however that being said there was another desire burning more than your need to sleep.
Your head lain on Jessie's lap as she began to stroke your hair, you stroking her thigh.
You felt Jessie squirm in her seat, palming at her sweats before clenching her fists. Tactically shifting her hips away from where your head lay, a grin fell over your face where Jessie hadn't concealed her burgeoning hard on as well as she had thought.
Sneaking your hand up under your head you gently stoked higher up her thigh letting out a small giggle when you cupped her over her semi. A muffled growl coming from Jessie as she bit down on her lip eyes darting across the cabin to see if anyone could see.
Looking up at her your eyes meet and she shoots you a look of warning as you continue your ministrations, putting a hand over yours stilling it she whispers down to you.
"Don't start something you can't finish"
"Who says I can't finish" you smile up at her
Your hand snaking under her sweats and briefs, grabbing onto her now hardened length, sliding your hand up and down with ease, lubed by the precum dripping from the head of your wife's cock.
The blanket concealing your actions, Jessie's reaction however would arouse suspicion if she didn't ground herself. Looking up at the roof of the plane and breathing deeply through her nose her hands found the back of your hair pulling gently and kneading trying to keep her composure.
Pulling your hand back you lick your palm before spitting in your hand and gripping a struggling Jessie yet again. Freeing her from her confines as she shuffles her clothing down her thighs and recovers herself with the blanket.
You look across to the aisle next to you seeing your neighbours asleep. With a sudden burst of bravery you lay slow sensual kisses along her shaft, pressing longer when you reach her tip. Your warm pink tongue flicking out along her slit tasting her excitement causing the Canadians eyes to roll into the back of her head.
Hollowing your cheeks you take her into your mouth swirling your tongue around her as she grits her teeth trying to say silent. Her hand stroking along your arm and around your front.
You close your eyes relishing in her taste, a smirk appearing on your cock filled mouth satisfied with your wife's crumbling composure.
Jessie's hand snakes across your stomach and under the blanket making its way under your waste band, groaning when she feels your arousal coating her finger tips.
Your eyes similarly to hers roll back as she bottoms out in the warmth of you throat, a small gag from resistance coming from you has her shuddering. Your panties almost destroyed from where you dripped and ached for her.
Removing you from where she needed you most you gave her a questioning look, nodding her head you realises she's signalling you to the restroom.
Silently you get up and signal for Jessie to play it cool and wait a minute before following, you notice how most people on the flight are asleep and find your way into the surprisingly decent size room.
Jessie manages to shuffle her clothes back on, tucking her aching cock into her waistband in a way to conceal herself.
Running her hands along her thighs, closing her eyes and taking a deep breath counting down from thirty before releasing the breath. Opening her eyes she gets up and heads towards the bathroom, after what felt like a lifetime your wife was finally behind you in the cubicle.
"Hey pretty girl" she says placing a kiss on your shoulder and making eye contact with you in the mirror.
Kissing up your neck and nibbling at your ear as she cups your throat her other hand on your waist pulling you back into her.
"You going to be a good girl for me?"
You groan closing your eyes and rolling your hips back
"Huh princess? I said are you going to be a good girl? Use your words, speak up"
"Fuck... yes Jessie" you breath out biting your lower lip
"Take these off" she signals at the clothing on your bottom half, before you can even reach to do as you're told she tugs them down exposing your bare ass before she does the same.
Her cock jutting up towards you as she helps you place your clothes on a hook.
Grabbing a condom from her pocket before adding her pants to the pile, she tears it open with her teeth and spits the wrapper to one side.
She strokes her length a few more times before sliding the condom on with ease, she grins at you in the reflection before running her tip through your dripping folds.
"So big for me" you groan as you sway your hips pushing back to tease her, unable to fathom how you're going to fit her thick cock inside you from this position.
Shuffling your feet wider so that your pretty hole was on display for her, Jessie groaned and bit her lip as she took in the view.
As she continued to rut through your folds she once again made eye contact with you in the mirror as her tip threatened to stretch your entrance, revelling in the way you wrapped around her.
Your eyes slamming closed at the feeling of her forcing you open, her cock slowly pushing through your warm canal engulfing your new wife in a pillowy bliss.
You'd taken her before, so it wasn't entirely new but from this angle it was a slight struggle that you gritted your way through.
One again you bite your lip to hold in your moan as she bottoms out holding your arms behind your back and pushing your head again the mirror so you stay in the position she wants you in.
You close your eyes at the cool sensation of the glass against your cheek and a moan spills out of your lips. It's at that moment Jessie's eyes come across your panties hanging on the hook.
Her eyes widen as an idea flashes through her mind, grabbing them she wraps them around her hand.
"Open" she demands
Opening your eyes you look at her confused until she grabs your jaw tilting it toward her, squeezing harshly on your cheeks until your mouth opens and she shoves your soaked panties into your mouth.
Pushing your jaw closed she kisses your shoulder before gently grazing it with her teeth, trailing her way to your neck where she bit down harshly sure to leave her mark.
A moan barely makes its way past the makeshift gag as you bite down on the fabric quietening yourself. Unable to tell Jessie verbally how good you feel you instead throw your head back and reach around to claw at her forearms.
"You like that baby?" She says smugly watching as she flexes her biceps and abs in the mirror at an attempt to pound you harder.
"Such a good girl for me" she smiles as you nod your answer to her question.
Slumping forward she wraps her arms around your waist and pulls you into her with more fervour her hips slamming into yours filling the small room with the sound of your wet pussy dripping for her.
Her hands graze over your breasts slipping their way under your loose fitting shirt and into your bra, her finger tips circle your hardening nipples before she gently tugs and pinches on them.
The sensations of her entering you and playing with your chest sets your skin on fire, her lips coming back your neck as she kisses and soothes your skin that she had just harshly bitten, a bruise already threatening to break through.
You throw your hips back harder as she snaps up into you, cupping your breasts and squeezing hard using them as leverage to fill you even deeper.
That's when you hear it a faint snapping noise, only just audible. Thinking nothing of it you urge the footballer to keep going, her athletic thighs and calves tensing as she ruts up into you.
"Keep going, I'm close" you groan out as Jessie pulls the panties from your mouth, she continued to snap up into you as your orgasm approached.
"Me too sweetie, I'm gonna fill you up so good. I want you to have my babies" she growls in your ear
"Fuck Jess, put a baby in me"
"You'd look so good and so full" she cries out before the last few thrusts.
"Show everyone I'm yours"
You shudder as you cum hard on her cock as she begins to shoot rope after rope of her seed inside the condom... or so you both thought.
After panting for a few moments regaining your composure and Jessie hers, you wife slid her self out to see the remnants of a snapped condom and her cum dripping out of you.
"Shit"
"What? What's wrong?" You say in a haze
"Condom split" she mutters still staring at your breeded hole
"Oh"
"Well I wasn't joking, I really do what your babies Jess"
"You do?"
"I do" you confirm
"Fuck" she whispers starting to get stiff again "Right now?"
"I know we haven't talked about it much but I'd love to start a family with you"
"So would I" she says full of sincerity
Eying her up in the reflection you feel yourself throbbing once again.
"Might as well put that to use" you say reaching around and stroking her back to full attention
"Try again shall we" a slight lilt in your voice
"Don't have to ask me twice" she says turning you around throwing you against the door, a slight jump from you as you wrap your legs around her waist, her thick cock back inside you once again.
One arm wrapped around your back another braced against the wall as you clutched her shoulder, your other hand holding onto the top of the door frame.
Bouncing up and down on her cock as she slammed upwards matching your thrusts, burying your head in the crook of her neck you whisper some filthy things in her ear that have her crying out in pleasure.
"Fill me up with your babies Jess"
"Make me such a good mommy"
"Only you can stretch me this good" you emphasise with a moan and a bite to her ear lobe
Grabbing your hips she pistons into you faster and harder your nails scratching down your back.
Hissing in pleasure and pain her forehead beading with sweat as she continues to bottom out in you, pulling back leaving you empty before stretching you out again.
The feeling was so intense that you could hardly hold yourself up and clung onto Jessie as she fucked you into oblivion.
"Cum inside me please" you wail out as white heat blinds you, Jessie whimpering as she fills you with yet another load. Holding herself there hoping her seed will take.
When she pulls out you feel yourself gush all over your thighs, taking your fingers you dip them into your core before cleaning your sodden digits off in your mouth, swirling your tongue around them as Jessie looks you in the eye.
Dropping to her knees she looks up at you with pleading eyes
She grabs your leg throwing your thigh over her shoulder before kissing her way up to your molten core.
Dipping her tongue inside tasting your mixed arousal, her eyes fluttering back at your heady scent.
She couldn't help but suckle on your throbbing clit and bring your folds into her mouth lapping at you, already over sensitive you approached your third orgasm quickly and with a small whimper and shuddering legs you came once again.
Jessie caught you and stood up kissing you gently
"Hopefully that will help" she smirks before helping you get dressed again.
You gave yourselves a once over before Jessie whispered in your ear "go lay down so my load gets you knocked up" she kisses your temple before you both exit the cubicle.
An airplane of eyes on you both as yours found the floor, you found your way back to your seats and got comfortable, hiding you face under the blanket away from all the judgemental stares you were getting.
Apparently you weren't as quiet as you'd both thought...

Moments
Jessie Fleming x Reader
Summary: This is possibly the most meaningful moment of Jessie’s career. Even then, there are moments bigger than football. You deliver some big news to Jessie.

A/N: Jessie x Reader pregnancy announcement fic. Side note: I love this damn team. They never give up and I adore them for it.
Tumblr media
“Elysse.”
The wind was almost knocked out of you as Jessie’s sister threw herself into your arms. Tears immediately sprung to your eyes as Jessie’s parents and brother surrounded you in a large embrace.
“We’re so glad you’re here,” Jessie’s mom said, her own eyes watery as you all slowly disentangled yourselves from one another.
“I wouldn’t miss it,” you told her as you wiped at the corner of your eye. “Not under these circumstances.”
You felt the wave of emotions you’d been struggling to process rise up once more. The drones. The scandal. The public doubts. The criticisms. The injustice. It was horrible. And you - Jessie, the team, felt powerless.
You weren’t supposed to be arriving in France until later, but given the pandemonium, you flew out early. You texted Elysse right away and soon enough you had it all coordinated.
Jessie, on the other hand, had no idea. It was normal for her to retreat almost entirely to the team during competitions of this caliber, especially now as captain. With the added scandal, she didn’t need more distractions. She had more than enough on her shoulders. You didn’t need her worrying about you leading up to this game with France.
But you had to be here. There was no way you’d miss this game. Win or lose, you’d be there by her side after the final whistle.
Besides. You had something to tell her. Something bigger than football. Bigger than this moment.
You were absolutely beside yourself all match. Your stomach was in your throat and you were literally on the edge of your seat. Minus the two times you and her family erupted out of your seats to celebrate Canada’s goals. Tears in your eyes as Jessie equalized and ran to her teammates. Then again when Vanessa slotted it home to seal the 3 points.
When the ref finally blew the final whistles, you were all on your feet again cheering and crying. It felt as satisfying as a gold medal match. You knew how gratifying and validating this win was for Jessie and the team; it was obvious.
The on-pitch celebrations began to transition as team members started climbing into the stands to see their families. Your throat tightened with emotion and you beamed as Jessie took the stairs two at a time.
Elysse tried to pull you forward, but you shook your head and gave her a small nudge, opting to stay concealed at the back of the group.
Jessie’s voice filled your head, immediately eliciting emotion as she threw her arms around her parents, then siblings, her head tucked down as always in an embrace until she came up for air and her eyes locked on you.
She stilled momentarily, blinking, a wide smile lingering on her lips as she registered your presence. You were about to speak when she threw herself forward, her arms wrapping tightly around you and she clutched you to her, tightening her grip on you several times as she held you desperately to her. You heard her start crying in your ear, her shoulders shaking and you felt your body immediately mirror hers.
“I didn’t know you’d be here,” she told you, her voice strained in your ear as she refused to let you go.
“I couldn’t miss this,” you told her. “There’s no way I was going to let you finish this match without me being here.”
Jessie finally pulled back to look at you, though keeping you in her embrace. Tears stained her red cheeks and she gave you a mild shake of her head.
“You didn’t need to come,” she told you, not very convincingly.
“Jessie,” you chided. She laughed and pulled you into another embrace, kissing you this time.
“You’re the best,” she declared, her voice wavering with emotion again. You gave her a wink as you wiped away a tear that rolled down her cheek.
“You married me for a reason, you know.”
She laughed and hugged you tightly once more.
“I’m pretty smart sometimes, aren’t I?” She joked.
You didn’t respond. Hardly even chuckling as your mind seesawed back and forth. You’d debated the timing of this since the moment you found out, and that debate had only heightened in light of recent developments.
Jessie pulled back, a smile still on her face as she studied you.
“Are you okay?” She asked lightly. You gazed into her deep brown eyes, full of love and devotion.
This was the moment.
“I’m so good,” you told her, your voice softer as you held her gaze. Her smile persisted, but she narrowed her eyes slightly at you and gave a curious laugh. You cupped her face and leaned in to give her a slow kiss. When you pulled back she smiled further, eyes idly searching your face.
“What did I do to deserve that?” She chuckled. You shot her a look.
“What didn’t you do?” You retorted with a smirk before taking a quick breath. “I would’ve been here for you during this game no matter what, but I also came to tell you something.”
At this, Jessie’s smile faded and her brow furrowed slightly as she grew serious. She seemed to steel herself slightly and she nodded for you to continue.
You smiled adoringly at her and cupped her face once more.
“Jessie,” you said and she stood still waiting intently. “I’m pregnant.”
You watched her just as intently, gauging her reaction. Her expression remained fixed and she stood there wordless, breathless, for a moment before her jaw dropped slightly as her eyes searched yours.
“You’re…we’re…I’m…” she stammered, her eyes still rapidly scanning you as a smile began to tug at her lips. You nodded, now beaming at her.
“I’m pregnant. We’re having a baby.”
This time the words set in and Jessie scooped you up into her arms, spinning you around, laughing brightly in your ear before gently setting you down. Her eyes were brimming with tears as she gave you a watery smile.
She continued to stammer, eyes fixed on you as she struggled to find the right words. Eventually she found them. Simple and true.
“I love you so much,” she said, voice wavering again with emotion. “I can’t believe this. We’re going to have a family.”
You laughed warmly as Jessie blinked back more tears.
“We are. And our baby is-“
“Our baby,” Jessie mouthed, lip trembling as tears began to fall once more. You chuckled, beyond endeared by her reaction and emotion, as you leaned in and kissed one of her tears.
“Our baby,” you repeated, “is so lucky to have you as a mom. I’m so grateful that they’ll have someone raising them and loving them - someone they can look up to - who is so passionate, and kind, and full of heart. Someone who led during an unthinkable time, and fought and didn’t give up - on herself or others - when it would’ve been so easy to. I couldn’t be prouder. And I know they’ll be so proud to call you their mom.”
Jessie let out a sob as she pulled you tightly into her arms again.
“I didn’t know if I should tell you now or not. I just-”
“Yes!” Jessie laughed as she pulled back, hands cupping your cheeks as she grinned. “Oh my god! Yes. I’m so glad you did.” She swallowed, steadying her emotions. “I actually think I’m going to be a little bothered that you didn’t tell me sooner, but we can deal with that later,” she went on with a smirk.
She stared at you lovingly, her thumb caressing your cheek. You idly noted that a lot of players had retreated to the locker room. You knew she’d have to go soon.
“I love you so much,” she repeated, voice growing tight again as she fought off another resurgence of emotion. “Thank you for telling me. This is so much bigger than all of this bullshit.” She paused before placing a hand gingerly, in wonder even, on your stomach. “This is what matters more than anything.”
You placed a hand over hers and gave a nod to the pitch.
“Regardless of what happens over the next week. You showed the world what this team, and what you, are made of.” You paused purposefully. “You’ve won already, Jess.”
She gently stroked your stomach with her thumb and smiled brightly at you.
“I really have,” she assured you. She gave you a wink and a quick kiss. “But I’m going to win us another medal.”

Dress to impress | Jessie Fleming x Ucla!Reader
5k celebration prompt: "Only bought this dress so you could take it off."
Warnings: alcohol consumption, and slightly suggestive at the end
Woso masterlist | Words: 2k
-----
There were only four minutes of stoppage time left to play in the NCAA Women's College Cup. UCLA Bruins versus Stanford Cardinals, with a dead even score since the first half. Both teams had been fighting hard to get the winning goal.
Your legs were killing you, but you kept pushing because you did not want to go into extra time. The full 90 minutes had been so high speed that you didn’t think you’d be able to keep running another 30 minutes.
Time was ticking down as both teams fought for the ball in the midfield. Then in a split second Jessie was able to turn away with the ball, and looked up to find you, sending a long ball your way over Stanford’s back line.
With a new found source of energy you sprinted to reach the ball before the defender did. Somehow you managed to be quicker than her, kicking the ball ahead of you and continuing your run. Two other defenders came rushing in, but you noticed in time. Cutting back and looking up for just a second.
You strike the ball with power, watching as it soars toward the top corner. Time slows. The Stanford goalkeeper stretches desperately, fingertips grazing the air, but it’s not enough. The ball hits the back of the net, and your hands fly in the air.
In celebration you turn around to point to Jessie who was already running your way. She jumps into your arms, followed by the rest of your teammates joining in on the celebratory huddle.
Play starts again, but shortly after Stanford kicks off, the final whistle is blown. Signaling that you had won the cup. Within a second all of your teammates were around you again, you had scored the winning goal and they were going to celebrate that big time.
In all the chaos Jessie finds you again, and hugs you tight. Her sweaty jersey sticking to yours, but you don’t even notice. “We did it!” You say full of excitement. Jessie smiles, “You did it.”
You shake your head, “Couldn’t have scored that without your assist, Fleming.” Her arms were still around you and your heart was pounding out of your chest. Sure some of that was from running around on the pitch, but her arm around you was adding an extra layer to it.
Before you can think too much of that though, Kelsey jumps onto your back, nearly tipping you over. “Champions, baby!” She shouts over everyone.
The celebration with your teammates continues. You were taking it all in, the biggest tournament at college level, and you had won it with your team.
Once you got on the bus to head back home, you were barely able to keep your eyes open. You were exhausted, so it was to no surprise that your eyes fell shut moments after the bus started moving. Not even realising that your head fell onto Jessie’s shoulder.
Jessie shifted a little, getting comfortable and letting you sleep. Kelsey who was sitting across from you smirks and snaps a quick picture. When Jessie glances at her, confused, Kelsey just wiggles her eyebrows. Jessie shakes her head with a laugh, but she doesn’t move away.
When you got back Jessie gently woke you up. “Hey, we made it back?” You lift your head up and look around you confused. Had you slept the whole drive? You looked out the window and indeed saw you had arrived back on campus. “Sorry for falling asleep on you, you should’ve woken me up.” Your cheeks redden slightly. Jessie shakes her head with a smile, “You’re good."
“Come on, sleepy head, let’s get back to our dorm.” Kelsey says as she gets up. “Right, see you later Fleming.” You hurriedly get up, hoping to not embarrass yourself more. But Jessie stops you, “Wait up.”
You turn around slowly, hoping she won’t say anything to make you even more flustered than you already were. “Will I see you at the Phi Psi party tomorrow?” You smiled at her, “Yeah, I’ll see you there.”
Then you turned around again and followed Kelsey out of the bus. “I thought you weren’t going to the party?” She asked you, full of amusement since you had declined her invite just a couple of days ago. “Can a girl change her mind?”
Kelsey laughed as you walked towards your dorms. “Yeah, a girl can change her mind, but you don’t just change your mind. Something made you.” You rolled your eyes at her, really not interested in having this conversation, but knowing Kelsey, she wouldn’t drop it that easily.
“Actually, scratch that,” As you figured, she continued on. “Someone made you.” You shrugged and opened your dorm room. “Maybe I just decided it sounded fun.”
Kelsey plopped down onto her bed, eying you with a knowing smirk. “Two days ago you said, and I quote, ‘Frat parties are always sweaty, crowded, and full of drunk dudes who don’t understand personal space.’ But now you’re suddenly into it?”
You turned away from her, aimlessly digging around in your backpack, “I just changed my mind.” Kelsey sat up, fully looking through your lies. “Jessie asked if you were going.”
“So?” You answered a little too quickly. “God, you really think I didn’t figure it out? You talk about her non-stop.” Had you really been that obvious? It didn’t matter right now, you wanted to end this conversation, so you grabbed your stuff to head to the bathroom and walked out of the room.
When you got back Kelsey still had an amused smile on her face. “You’re so gone for her.” You didn’t even look at her, knowing exactly what her face looked like right now. “Goodnight, Kels.”
The next morning you were emptying your closet, trying to find a good outfit for tonight. None of the clothes you owned seemed to be good enough, and you let out a frustrated sigh as you threw the last item you owned onto the ground.
Kelsey walked back into the room at the same moment the last item fell to the ground. “Oh my god, what happened in here?” She looked around at, most of the room covered in your clothes. “I have nothing to wear for tonight.” You say with another sigh.
“It’s okay, we are going shopping. You have to dress to impress.” You protest, “I don’t need to go shopping.” Kelsey looked around the room again. “Yes, you do. You need a dress that’ll make Jessie lose her damn mind,” Kelsey insists, dragging you out the door. “And for the record, I will not be spending the night in our dorm. Just saying.” You groan, but you let her pull you along.
The Phi Psi party is in full swing when you and Kelsey arrive. Music is blaring, alcohol is passed all around, and the house is filled with partying people. Your new dress hugs you in all the right places, and you can’t help but feel your confidence grow as you feel everyone’s eyes linger on your body.
One pair of eyes jumps out from the rest though. Jessie’s eyes are on you from across the room, she’s staring at you while some other girl is talking to her. “I told you this was the one.” Kelsey tells you and drags you to the bar to get some drinks.
When you got back, and looked to where Jessie had been standing, she was nowhere to be found. You looked over to Kelsey nervously. “Relax girl, she’ll come to you. You saw the way she looked at you. Let’s go have some fun.”
Kelsey was right, after a few drinks, Jessie made your way over to you and Kelsey. “Hey.” She said looking at just you, and Kelsey has to keep in a chuckle not to ruin the moment. “Hi.” The two of you stay silent after, so Kelsey steps in. “The beer pong is open, come on.”
She drags the both of you to the table and searches the crowd for a fourth player. “Micah, come join us!” She yelled to your goalkeeper. “Alright, you and me versus Jess and Teagan.” Kelsey announced. “Trust me.” She whispered into your ear.
At first you didn’t understand when she said trust me, but then you realised Jessie’s eyes kept moving up and down your body. Clearly she was distracted, missing most of her shots. Luckily for her Teagan was actually doing pretty well, so all of you had to take quite a few of the shots, before Kelsey won you the game. “Let’s go! Drink up Fleming.”
Jessie drinks up the contents of the last cup and congratulates the both of you on a good game. With Jessie there, Kelsey sees it as her moment to head off, leaving the two of you to it.
“Can I grab you another drink?” Jessie asks and you nod, “Yes please.” The alcohol in your system was definitely helping you gain confidence, and you knew you were going to need more of that right now.
Jessie made her way over to the bar and right away a frat boy approached you. “I’ve been waiting all evening to get you alone. You look absolutely incredible.” He looks you up and down, stepping closer than you would like, but you can’t step back because the beer pong table was there.
He reaches out his hand to touch your waist, but before you can react, Jessie steps between you and him. Two drinks in her hands and her jaw clenched. “She’s not interested.” She says firmly.
The guy looks between you and Jessie, scoffing as he lifts his hands. “Relax, I was just being friendly.”
“Go be friendly somewhere else.” Jessie says sharply. He glares at her for a moment before turning around and disappearing into the crowd.
Jessie turns around, concern etched onto her face. Your heart was racing. Jessie was close, there hadn’t been much room between you and the guy, so even less room now between you and her.
“Are you okay?” She asks, her voice softer now. You nod with a smile, “Yeah I am, and that was kinda hot.” Jessie blinks, caught off guard by your boldness, her cheeks turning a dark shade of red.
You hadn’t meant to say the last part out loud, but her reaction made you grateful that you had. The smirk coming onto her face as she slightly tilted her head, made your head spin. “Yeah?” She asks as she hands you your drink.
You take a quick sip before saying, “Yeah. Thank you.” Jessie follows your lead and takes a sip as well. “Of course, anytime.”
“Come on, let’s dance.” Jessie says with her hand held out to you. You don’t hesitate and let her guide you towards the makeshift dance floor filled with people.
The heavy bass of the music vibrates through you as Jessie pulls you in, her hands resting on your waist. Your arms instinctively loop around her neck, pulling her even closer. The world around you fades away as you move together, your bodies pressed against each other as you move to the beat.
You wonder if Jessie can feel the way your heart is pounding out of your chest as you feel her hands move slightly lower. When you look at her, there is something dark and unreadable in her eyes, which makes your stomach flip.
She leans in to tell you something. “You look incredible tonight.” The feeling of her warm breath on your neck gives you a newfound confidence. “I only bought this dress so you could take it off."
Jessie stops moving to the music instantly, her lips slightly parted in surprise, but then you see her smirk grow. She pulls you closer again, and crashes her lips onto yours. You tangle your hands into her hair and deepen the kiss.
The people around you all disappear. There is only Jessie, and the faint taste of beer on her lips. When she finally pulls back, her forehead rests against yours, “Wanna get out of here?” You nod without hesitation, taking her hand and leading her out of the crowded house.

y/n smiled softly as she pulled on her second boot, watching as Jessie hummed to herself while she pulled on her jacket, the young Canadian excited to go for her evening walk with her girlfriend.
The two couldn't be more different from each other, Jessie was short, sweet, and a happy looking girl with a gorgeous smile - which was what drew y/n in.
y/n was tall, curved, dark and almost scary looking from how her dark eyes were always cold and narrowed - people crossed the street to avoid passing her.
If seen together the two would look almost comical. Jessie in her blue shorts and grey hoodie, holding her coffee mug with a wide grin. y/n in her black jeans, fishnets and leather jacket.
y/n's hair was slicked back in her usual shag, and her lips were painted their usual dark colour as she held out her hand to Jessie who happily took it.
Jessie let y/n lock their apartment then skipped happily down toward the doors, y/n's hands swinging in hers as the tall woman easily kept up with her excitable girlfriend's skips.
Jessie and y/n passed one of their usual neighbours and the man chuckled at them as Jessie happily said 'hello' and y/n just nodded, watching as her girlfriend sighed in relief as they stepped into the city air.
"We'll walk to the park and back?" y/n offered to Jessie who nodded, happily taking her hand tighter as she wraps around y/n's arm. Sighing in relief as the taller woman wrapped her arm around Jessie's shoulder and brought her into her side.
"I've been thinking." Jessie begins softly.
"Oh no, that is never good." y/n chuckles and Jessie rolls her eyes, giggling as she nudges y/n with her hip.
"Shut up." Jessie hums. "I'm thinking about telling people, like about us." She continues and y/n smiles.
"Okay." y/n nods and Jessie looks up grinning.
"Really?" She asks and y/n nods. "Great." Jessie smiles.
y/n and Jessie had been together over a year. The main reason no one had figured it out was because y/n was a managing director and designer for a newer fashion company.
The company had taken off and y/n was now in charge of a team of 200 people instead of 20 when she first started the company with her friend over three years ago.
The few TikTok's her employees had managed to get her in people loved her, for her style and her youth, her humour and her sarcasm, but usually, y/n was just too busy to deal with the younger people's fun.
Some footballers had worn some of their clothes, though their main collab was with the Manchester City girls, which Jessie didn't forgive for a week.
However, occasionally someone would clock Jessie wearing some jeans from their 'Hopeless Blues' collection, or a top from their 'Fruity colours and quotes' one.
Though no one had expected it and therefore paired it up, with the main office being in Manchester, y/n could assume why people thought she worked there.
y/n had stopped to grab her and Jessie juice, paying the stall man with a smile she could see Jessie on her phone, but y/n assumed she was taking a selfie.
She walked over, mind running through the four meetings she had tomorrow, always finding their walks helpful to plan out her work day ahead for the next day.
"Thank you baby!" Jessie smiles, posting the video without much of a thought.
"Of course." y/n smiles, pecking Jessie's lips before the two continue their walk.
As they walked neither checked their vibrating phones, so neither saw the reaction to Jessie's video about her guard dog boyfriend - in trend with the Babushka song - going viral.
As the two continued walking a group of teenage boys walked past, rolling their eyes as the group snickered at the slurs they threw at the two.
"Fags honestly."
"Lesbos."
"Can I watch?"
"What did you just say?" y/n asks, turning to face the group, the three teenagers suddenly becoming very still and shocked.
"Well, we..." One of them tries.
"Think it's funny, hurling words you don't understand the meaning of because you see two girls holding hands?" y/n asks.
"Well..." one of them tries again.
"Think it's funny that you kids won't ever get respect from others outside of the level of people with two braincells because you think being homophobic is funny?" y/n asks them.
Their eyes had widened comically now, y/n was nothing short of scary when she needed to be, and despite having a 5ft 3 girl still connected to her hand, her point had clearly got through.
"Do better." y/n tells them angrily, before rolling her eyes and turning back to Jessie. "You okay baby?" y/n asks and Jessie can't help but smile as she leans up and kisses her girlfriend.
"As long as I have you baby." Jessie smiles before they continue their walk, leaving three sheepish boys behind them.

"Babe!" y/n called out, a small snort falling from her lips as she hears Jessie's feet run across the apartment, y/n's eyes glued to her phone screen as she stops typing on her laptop.
"Yes?" Jessie asks as she sticks her head around the corner with a wide grin. "Wait, are you working?" Jessie asks. "Babe!" She huffs.
"I know, I know, I'm coming to watch the movie baby, I promise." y/n says trying to calm the Canadian down.
"It's half eight! Just put the laptop away." Jessie whines. "You said you were going to shower." She adds.
"And I did, hair all washed, see?" y/n tries. "I just thought I could get a quick email in about tomorrow's presentation." y/n tries but Jessie huffs and folds her arms.
"You always do this when we have our nights together." Jessie says, a pout on her lips as she fiddles with her hoodie. "I just wanna spend time with you." She adds and y/n sighs.
Jessie pouts and y/n groans, throwing her phone on the side and shutting her laptop. Jessie's eyes sparkle with victory as y/n walks over, arms wrapping around Jessie to hoist her onto her hips.
"Weeeee." Jessie says quietly, smiling as y/n sits on the bed, bringing Jessie onto her lap so she can connect their lips.
"I'm sorry I'm a work-aholic. But this company is my baby." y/n sighs.
"And you have done, still do and will do an amazing job, as long as you are able to take a break and give love to your adorable girlfriend." Jessie states.
"I can definitely do that last part." y/n smiles, leaning forward and pressing multiple pecks along Jessie's face, the footballer laughing as y/n's fingers dig into her sides.
Jessie jerks to the side, squealing in shock at being tickled, she tries to scramble away but y/n chuckles and uses her long legs to roll them, so she could stay on Jessie and keep tickling.
Jessie's squeals had now turned into breathless laughs, occasional begs to stop as y/n watched with an evil grin as tears of joy raced down Jessie's cheeks.
"Okay, okay, I'm done." y/n promises, holding her hands up as Jessie lets out a huff of relief, glaring at her lover who chuckles.
y/n grins and leans forward, pressing several kisses to Jessie's lips, each one longer than the last, Jessie humming happily into the physical attention she was receiving.
"Also, guard dog, really?" y/n asks Jessie who giggles. y/n rolls her eyes but stands up, Jessie scrambling after and attaching herself to y/n's front, legs curled around her hips.
"Yes, really, you're my guard dog." Jessie states and y/n huffs but says nothing as she sits down on the sofa, bringing Jessie to the side of her.
Just as the two go to begin their movie, there is a series of rapid knocks on the door and y/n groans, pressing her lips to Jessie's cheek before moving to the door and ripping it open.
A determined Sam Kerr shrieks at how quick the door opens and her jaw drops as she looks up at the tall woman in front of her trying to figure out her height.
"Fuck you're tall." Sam says in shock.
"What do you want?" y/n asks her, confused as to why she had turned up.
"Um, my friend admits she has a girlfriend I haven't met on TikTok and you thought you could have a quiet night in?" Sam asks and y/n sighs, running a hand over her face.
"She's in the living room." y/n explains and Sam storms in, y/n shutting the door rather firmly.
"JESSIE FLEMING." Sam's shout rings and y/n chuckles at that. She may have never met Sam before, but she could already tell they would get on.
"Babe! Help!" Jessie calls and y/n sighs, walking back to her girlfriend where Sam sat on her, hands trying to tickle at the giggling girl's sides.
y/n's shoulders roll back and she reaches over and pull Sam from her girlfriend, throwing the footballer onto the other sofa and falling next to Jessie.
The Canadian grins widely and scuttles into y/n's lap Sam watching with wide shocked eyes.
"You're a strong'un." Sam states.
"She's mine to touch Kerr. You lay off." y/n warns and Sam snorts in shock as Jessie presses a kiss to y/n's cheek.
"Sam, meet my girlfriend/guard dog y/n. y/n meet one of my closest friend's Sam." Jessie explains and y/n chuckles.
"Pleasure to meet you Kerr." y/n smiles, leaning over to shake Sam's hand, her other arm wrapping around Jessie to keep her stable on her lap.
"I so need you to fight Millie!" Sam grins and y/n laughs.
"Look forward to it." She nods.

moving on to you
jessie fleming x reader
summary: after leaving your old life behind in germany, you realize that you'll have a better one in portland
warnings: none
Tumblr media
being back in the states was exciting to your fans.
to most, they’ve believed that you would’ve never left your old club in germany.
bayern munich was your life at one point, you arrived in 2019 from washington spirit and never wanted to leave.
now, in 2025– you found yourself in portland, wearing new colors.
many people know why you left germany, it was obvious to anybody who’s kept up with your lifestyle over the last three years.
however, you pushed it to the back of your mind. you wanted to restart instead of holding onto something that will never be the same.
your national teammates– sophia, sam, and olivia– greeted you with open arms. when you walked into sophia’s apartment the afternoon you arrived in portland, you threw yourself into her arms and didn’t let go for a few minutes– ignoring her fiance on the couch who was waiting for your “hello” too.
sam offered her extra bedroom for you to stay in until you were ready to move in your own.
the problem wasn't finances– portland offered a record breaking salary to you.
you didn’t want to live alone yet, especially in the emotional state you found yourself in.
on the first day of training, you met all of your new teammates.
during that training, you were paired up with jessie fleming for penalty drills.
you knew of jessie due to her time at chelsea, but you weren’t friends with her.
she was gentle with you from the beginning, jessie knew what you were going through.
months later, you were doing better emotionally. besides sophia, you’ve been a star with the thorns.
you’ve found yourself closer to the canadian on your team as well.
jessie and you went on solo dates to cafes, national parks, record stores, anything you can think of. however, she always made a move on you– you never seemed to make a move on her.
some of the girls noticed this, and you had to defend yourself.
“do you like jess?” sophia asked one night, she had a cup of green tea in her right hand that she gently hands over to you.
you take the mug and sip on the peppermint beverage, thinking about the question your bestfriend asked.
“i do—” you pause. sophia almost speaks before you mumble,
“that’s scary.”
“what’s scary?” sophia asked. she looks over at her fiancé who sits on the recliner in her apartment as you zone out, looking at a book on sophia’s coffee table.
“the whole idea of getting into another relationship again.. everyone knows what happened last time.” you sigh as you take one more sip of the tea, before putting it down on the coffee table.
sophia frowns before pulling you towards her. she wraps her arm around your shoulder as you sigh.
hugs felt foreign to you recently.
“you can’t let one bad relationship affect you for the rest of your life.” sophia whispers, scratching your back with her manicured nails as her fiance looks at you with sympathy.
“that's the thing.. lena and i didn’t have a bad relationship. i thought everything was great until she tells me that she didn’t love me anymore and moves on to another girl in the same week. what did i do wrong? i don’t want jessie to see what lena might’ve seen in me and run away– you know?” you let yourself go from sophia’s arms and rub your eyes, resting your head in your hands as your elbows rest of your thighs.
you never wanted to leave munich.
lena used to be the love of your life, someone you dreamed of marrying.
dreams don’t come true– most times.
“there’s nothing wrong with you, y/n.” sophia’s fiance, mike, says.
sophia nods her head in agreement.
“there is nothing wrong with you. you’re beautiful and you’re one of the best defenders in the world. she might kill me since i am telling you this– but jessie highly values you. she really likes you a lot and you should give her a chance whenever you’re ready.” sophia says, scratching your back before standing up to grab everyone a snack.
a week later, jessie and you were walking out of a pizza place in the heart of portland. this was after an afternoon full of training then a tiny-bit of bar-hopping.
in your mind, you knew that you had to make a move to show jessie that you did like her– and that you were ready to move on to her.
“jessie, i’ve been having so much fun with you lately.” you say as you stand closer to her.
the both of you were waiting on her uber ride, so you had to be quick before she left.
“i’ve had a lot of fun with you too, y/n” she smiles. you blush– not realizing how much she’s made you happy lately.
“i’m not going to cut corners with you jessie. i like you a lot. you’ve been my everything since i’ve arrived in portland.” you spill as a tear poured out of your right eye.
jessie blushes as she takes her thumb and wipes your tear away. she holds your right arm and her left arm comes down to your waist.
“i like you too y/n. trust me, you might’ve not been verbal about it– but i know how much you like me through your actions.” jessie quietly says as she leans in and kisses your cheek.
the canadian was right. your subtle touches, hugs, praises at her during game-days, constant invites to events, and looks told her all that she needed to know.
“can i be your girlfriend?” you mumble.
a piece of jessie’s hair flys onto her face in the same moment, you take your fingers and move it behind her ear as she closes her eyes– relaxing as she hoped that you would be the one to ask.
“yes you can, as long as i can be yours?” jessie smirks as you gave her a cheeky smile.
“yes you can.” you gave her a peck on the lips.

Sound
Hi, this is Part 2 of the Senses story that came out a few weeks ago, I hope you enjoy.
Sight : Sound : Smell : Taste : Touch : Cryptaesthesia
Jessie Fleming x Putellas!Reader
Description: R just loves the sound of Jessie's voice
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
You were never much of a talker. Anyone who knew you well was painfully aware of this. Maybe it was because you grew up with Alexia and Alba as your older sisters, maybe it was because you never felt like what you had to say would be listened too. But either way, you weren't much of a talker.
Alexia seemed to understand this though, much better than Alba did anyway. She'd spent years deciphering what each nod, each eyebrow twitch, each small smile meant. Whereas Alba had tried to force you out of your shell through demanding conversation, Alexia let you be.
It wasn't until you moved to Chelsea that she realised how hard you not talking truly was. There were times when she’d joke that getting you to talk on the phone was like pulling teeth, but it was only half a joke. She wanted to connect to check in on you, especially after you’d moved to London. At first, she insisted on calling you every single day, determined to make sure you were okay, that you were adjusting to your new life. You knew her intentions were wrapped in love, but each call felt like a marathon, leaving you emotionally drained as you struggled to fill the silences with words that just wouldn’t come.
It wasn’t until your Mamí stepped in that Alexia reluctantly agreed to cut back on her calls to just twice a week. You loved your sister fiercely, and the last thing you wanted was for her to think you didn’t want to hear from her. But the truth was, each conversation could feel overwhelming. Growing up, you watched Alexia light up any room she entered, effortlessly holding conversations and making connections, no matter how awkward she seemed. While you always preferred the quiet comfort of being a listener. You were the shy girl, the introvert at heart, finding refuge in the background.
For you, being able to fully know someone without the need for words, was all that you were truly after. Your sisters always said that it was a foolish thing to wish for. That the only way you could completely know someone was through talking. But you had always thought differently. To be so in synch with someone that you knew exactly what they wanted, what they were thinking just by the way they held their coffee cup, or looked out the window. That was what love truly was to you.
Jessie understood that in a way that felt almost magical. She had an innate ability to sense when you needed silence instead of chatter. On days when talking was the last thing you wanted to do, she would never push you to be anyone but yourself. She was perfectly content to create a cosy little bubble of comfort, filled with unspoken understanding. You’d often find yourself nestled against her, your head resting on her chest, lulled by the gentle rhythm of her breathing as she lost herself in her book.
“Can you read to me, mi vida?” you murmured one evening, your voice thick with sleepiness, your accent a bit more pronounced than usual. The sound of your soft, sleepy voice made Jessie’s heart flutter, and she felt herself swooning at how natural it felt for you to call her that. It was moments like these that she had sort so desperately as a teenager. And now that she had them, had you, she was never going to give that up.
Jessie laughed lightly, brushing a stray strand of hair from your face as she asked, “You want to know about the crater that’s been discovered that might have killed the dinosaurs?”
“No,” you replied, a lazy smile spreading across your face. “But I like hearing your voice.” As you looked up at her, your eyes sparkled with the quiet affection she cherished beyond anything else.
Smiling, she leaned down and pressed a gentle kiss to your forehead. “You’re too sweet, baby,” she whispered, her voice warm and playful. Clearing her throat, she traced lazy circles on your shoulder with her fingers, settling back into her book.
With each word she spoke, her voice wove a calm, soothing rhythm that wrapped around you like a soft blanket. You felt yourself drifting, the stresses of the day, of life itself, melting away as you surrendered to the peaceful atmosphere she created. Jessie read on, her fingers brushing gently through your hair, another reminder that sometimes this simple closeness was all you needed.
As Jessie continued to read, you let your eyes flutter shut, surrendering to the warmth. The gentle cadence of her voice, blended with the soft rustling of the pages, pulled you deeper into a peaceful state. You could feel the steady rise and fall of her chest beneath your head, the comfort of her heartbeat syncing with your own, pulling you deeper into sleep's embrace.
You drifted in and out of sleep, caught in that dreamy state where reality softened at the edges. In those moments, you felt safe, safer than you ever had before. It was a feeling you hadn’t fully appreciated until Jessie had entered your life. Here, in this little bubble, there were no expectations or pressures; just a simple, shared understanding. Even when you were with your sisters, they always wanted something, asking you to move over, or change the TV channel, or tell them about what was happening in your life. Jessie never asked for more than you were willing to give.
Jessie paused mid-sentence, and you stirred slightly, the sudden quiet bringing back to consciousness. “Que esta mal?” you murmured, blinking up at her, your eyebrows creasing in concern, your mind still hazy from sleep.
“Nothing, just… I was thinking,” she said, her fingers pausing on the page. Her eyes softened as she looked down at you. “I love these quiet moments with you. It’s like we’re in our own little world.” Her sincerity washed over you like a warm wave, your heart swelling at her words.
You nodded, a sleepy smile forming on your lips. “Yo también,” you replied, your voice barely above a whisper. “It feels nice to just be together like this.” You shifted slightly, snuggling closer against her, drawing comfort from her warmth. "I've never had this before."
Jessie chuckled softly, her laughter gentle. “Es perfecto,” she said, her tone playful. “Especially when I get to read you random facts about dinosaurs and craters.”
“I love your random facts,” you laughed, your smile growing wider.
With a grin, she set the book aside, allowing the silence to settle around you again. “We have to leave soon, you're Mamí and Alba are landing at 6” she reminded you, her fingers still gently stroking your hair.
“Just stay here for a bit longer?” you suggested, your voice soft. Yes, you had missed Alba so much, and your Mamí even more, but they would have to wait a little longer. You sighed happily, feeling your body melt against Jessie.
“Of course,” Jessie promised, her voice low and soothing. She leaned back against the headboard again, adjusting slightly to accommodate you better, and you couldn’t help but feel a rush of affection for her – a deep gratitude for how effortlessly she understood you.
Time seemed to slow, and you found yourself lost in the rhythm of her heartbeat and the gentle rise and fall of her chest. Eventually, the outside world faded even further away, and you felt your eyelids grow heavy once more.
Just before you drifted off again, Jessie’s voice broke the silence, this time filled with playful curiosity. “You know, if we keep spending all our time like this, I might get a little spoiled,” she teased, her tone light.
You smirked, peeking up at her. “Spoiled?”
“Like, I’ll want to keep you all to myself,” she said, her smile turning mischievous. “Just me, you, in the quiet, for the rest of our lives.”
Your heart raced at the thought, warmth blooming in your chest. “Well, if you’re going to spoil me, I suppose I can handle that,” you replied, your voice laced with teasing agreement.
“Good,” she said with a grin. "Go to sleep, sweetheart. I'll wake you with enough time to get ready."
"Bueno, mi vida. Te amo," you mumbled, already half asleep.
"I love you too, baby." She smiled down at you, her fingers tracing soothing patterns across your shoulders. "Sweet dreams."

Jessie Fleming x Reader
Summary: Sometimes you forget Jessie’s an engineer. A very thoughtful, but shy one at that. One who feels more comfortable renovating your apartment than telling you she likes you.
Warnings: No warnings.
A/N: I'm hearing some fluff is in order. Hope you all enjoy!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
"Where do you want this?" Jessie asked as she stood holding a large box in the doorway to your new bedroom.
You looked over your shoulder and pointed to the walk-in closet. "Over there would be great. Thank you."
"No problem," Jessie replied as she walked over and set the box down. She looked around as she stood. "Are you doing anything with the shelving in here?"
"Oh yeah," you said as you got up and joined her. "I'm going to move these shelves up and add another set here to create more storage."
"Smart. That'll be good," Jessie affirmed as she scanned the space.
You tried not to stare, but her profile, curious eyes, and the way her baby hairs stuck to her face after several trips to and from the moving truck made it challenging.
"Hey, I think that's everything."
Both you and Jessie turned when Janine's voice filtered in from the bedroom, seeing Kelli standing beside her.
"Oh amazing. Thank you so much, all of you. I'm sure your coach would have my head if he knew you helped me move, but I'm very grateful. And hey - no injuries! Knock on wood. I guess you all still have to make it home in one piece," you joked.
"Anytime," Janine said as she crossed the room and gave you a hug. "The new digs look great. Condo ownership looks good on you."
You laughed. "Thank you. And it's even better when highly trained athletes do all the heavy lifting for you."
"No unpacking though," Kelli joked. "That's where I draw the line." You held up your hands in mock surrender.
"I can handle that part. Thank you. Next round of dinner and drinks are on me."
Once everyone left and you continued the tedious task of unpacking, your phone dinged with a text. You retrieved it to see Jessie's name on the screen.
"Hey. I hope unpacking is going well. I just wanted to say that if you need any help redoing your shelves I'm happy to swing by. I like projects like that."
A small smile tugged at the corners of your mouth.
"Sometimes I forget you're an engineer. You've done so much as is - I already rolled the dice by getting you to help me move furniture and precariously packed boxes. I don’t want to push."
"I really don't mind! And setting up shelves is a lot less risky than holding the bottom end of the couch on the stairs while Kelli and Janine argue about how to angle it through a doorway."
You laughed recalling the scene in your mind. She had a point. Plus, spending some time alone, just the two of you, wouldn't be unwanted.
You'd met through Janine a few months back and had become friends in your own right since then, but it was still the norm that you typically only saw each other with Janine. This could be a nice change of pace. And, you know, if seeing her work in such a capacity would turn out to be eye candy - so be it.
"Alright. You've convinced me. When are you free? And please, please know that if you change your mind it's really not a problem at all. Please don't feel pressured or obliged."
"Excellent! Does next Sunday work for you? I'd say Saturday, but we have a game that afternoon."
"I'm aware lol. I'll be there, after all. Sunday sounds great."
"Right lol. Okay, Sunday it is! Let me know if you need me to pick anything up prior. I'm happy to."
"You're too sweet. See you then."
-----
"You brought your own drill set?" You asked with an amused smile. The blush on Jessie's face was immediate.
"Well, I didn't know what you had." Her voice rising in pitch. "And I have a spare battery. There's nothing worse mid-project than running out of a charge."
"Nothing," you mocked affectionately and she averted her gaze as her cheeks grew redder. You smiled at her and ushered her to the walk-in. "Okay, well, between the two of us I think we're all set. Let's get started."
It didn't take long for it to become Jessie leading and you helping. Going in, you felt you had a decent grasp of what to do, but as the work progressed, you realized how good it was that Jessie was here because she guided things with confidence and ease that you had to admit you probably wouldn't have had in her absence.
You were expecting this to be an all day venture, but with Jessie at the helm the work went by quickly and smoothly.
"Hand me that last shelf, please," she instructed calmly as she double-checked her work.
You were ready with it and handed it up to her. You watched in what you hoped was subtle appreciation as she set it in place.
She stood perched on the ladder, wearing her black hat and her shirt was tucked in. The tape measure was hooked onto her pocket and she wore a soft look of concentration on her face. When she took the shelf, her biceps popped as she lifted it and set it down on the brackets with ease. The pencil tucked behind her ear was the cherry on top.
Once she was confident the shelf was secure, she turned to you with a bright smile.
"All done! What do you think?"
"It's fantastic," you relayed, forcing yourself to refocus. And it was true. Not only was her workmanship thorough, but she'd tweaked a few things in your plan to optimize the setup even further. "Thank you so much. This is better than what I could've imagined. I owe you big time."
She shrugged and focused on her feet as she stepped down off the ladder. "No, it's all good. It was fun."
"Well, I really appreciate it. Truly," you went on, seeking eye contact, but she seemed to readily avoid it as she began cleaning up her tools. Eventually, she looked to you with a small smile.
"Don't mention it. Thanks for letting me help."
You rolled your eyes teasingly. "You're funny. Can I at least order us in some dinner and make you a drink or two?" You saw her begin to hesitate, a blush creeping up on her cheeks as she fidgeted. Early on, you would've immediately backed off, fearing you were making her truly uncomfortable, but by this point you knew she was just shy. And a bit skittish. You went on gently. "Consider it a small token of my appreciation."
She gave you a crooked smile as she distractedly readjusted her hat before seeming to catch herself and clasped both hands in front of her. "Okay, sure. That sounds good."
You two talked fairly late into the night and you noted how Jessie relaxed into the evening. Conversation was easy and naturally weaved from the light and fun to the more serious and heavy without getting uncomfortable or awkward. The night only came to an end because you had to work in the morning.
"Thank you again for all of your help," you told her as she stood at your front door, shoes, jacket and backpack on. "Not only does the closet look great, but it was a lot of fun - thanks to you. I can't help but think about projects half that serious that I've done with exes and they've turned into all out brawls. So, thank you."
Her posture straightened slightly and as she blushed with a nervous laugh. "Well, what can I say. We work well together." If you were right, the flush of her cheeks deepened. She averted her gaze, shuffling her feet a bit before she shoved her hands in her jacket pockets and nodded over your shoulder.
"You said you were going to change out the lighting fixtures in the living room, right?" She asked. Her smile morphed into a smirk. "I mean, I'm not an electrical engineer, but a couple lighting fixtures is no big deal. I could come over next week and help with those."
You gave her a smirk of your own, unknowingly looking her up and down.
"If you'd really like to. I certainly won't stop you."
The easy confidence she was trying to channel a moment ago flickered before she gave you a nonchalant shrug.
"Sure. It's not a problem."
"Alright," you accepted. "I'm looking forward to it. Thanks again, and good night." You leaned forward and pulled her into a short hug - something you hadn't done before - and it seemed to catch her off-guard as she very belatedly put her hands up around you as you were already beginning to pull away, and even then, her movements were stiff and tentative. When you fully broke away her face was beet red.
"Okay." Her voice was high and tight. She gave you a quick, awkward wave before turning to leave. "Have a good night."
-----
The next weekend rolled around and Jessie was yet again up on a ladder in your new apartment. She tilted her head and frowned in concentration as she installed the last set of screws on your new lighting fixture.
"Okay, go ahead and turn the breaker back on," she told you as she stepped down and walked over to the light switch. You did as you were told.
"Okay, done."
The switch went on with a soft click and light filled the room. You watched her before looking up at the newly installed fixture. She smirked.
"Looks good," she said. “How do you like it?”
“It's brilliant. Thank you again. But what I’m really interested in is this,” you said as you closed the space between you two and grasped her hand, she tensed at the contact, but didn’t pull away. You lifted her hand to see the cut on her knuckle.
“I knew it. Let’s get you cleaned up,” you said and at that she pulled her hand back, hiding it behind her back.
“It’s nothing. I’m fine.”
“I know you are, but still,” you told her gently, noting the embarrassed look on her face. “Indulge me. Let me at least put a bandaid on it.”
She grumbled in contemplation but eventually conceded. You smiled to yourself at how her head jerked away when you glanced up from her hand to catch her staring at you.
When you finished placing the bandaid on her you released her hand and took a step back. You waited to catch her eye and spoke, “Make sure you clean that up more when you get home.”
Her cheeks grew pink and she rolled her eyes. You caught the hint of a smile on her lips though.
“Yes, ma’am.”
Jessie stayed for dinner and a drink once more. Conversation flowed even easier, if that’s possible, than last time. You tried to hide the smile over how pleased you were by this since you and Jessie had been texting all week in between. It would've been understandable if you ran out of things to talk about by this point, but you didn’t - at all.
"I noticed there were a couple of dings in the drywall - probably from when we were moving stuff in. Probably Janine's doing - I'm much more conscientious," Jessie relayed with a facetious eye roll. "I could patch those up for you. I imagine the previous owners left some of the original paint or we could just get it paint matched."
You smirked at her from across the couch.
"You know, we could always just hang out - no reno job required. You don’t have to do something every time."
She blushed and took a sip of her drink.
"Oh, well, you know. I don’t mind."
"Well, how about we just hang out next time. If you are desperate to repair the drywall even after that, well, have at 'er. But maybe a work-free, normal hang out would be nice," you told her with a soft laugh. She nodded, blush fading as she returned your smile.
“Okay, that sounds like a plan." She swirled her drink, looking down at the churning liquid and speaking into it. "You could come over to my place? I could make us dinner. Or whatever." She finally mustered up the courage to look back up at you.
Now it was your turn to blush. You fiddled with your glass and offered her a hint of a smile. "Okay. That sounds nice."
————
“Whoa. That’s fancy,” Jessie commented as you set down a nice bottle of Chardonnay on her counter.
“Well, it’s my first time over. I had to break out the good stuff for you.”
Jessie grinned and retrieved a couple of glasses for you before setting down two plates of food on the kitchen table.
“This looks amazing,” you told her as you looked at the meal she prepared. “And I can’t help but think this just isn’t fair. You did all this free work for me and now you’ve made me dinner.”
“Was it free?” She squinted at you teasingly. “You had to listen to me babble on about metric versus imperial for a solid 20 minutes there.”
“I didn’t mind. I’d listen to that any day. I like hearing your facts and tidbits and about whatever you're interested in,” you assured her and she tried to conceal her smile. “How’d you become so handy anyway? I mean, I know you have this engineering background now, but still.”
She shrugged. “I liked helping my dad with projects around the house. Helping him build stuff. It was just always fascinating to me to see things come together like that and to know you did it with your own two hands.”
“That’s cute. And very sweet,” you told her as you took a bite. She dismissed your comment with a small wave of her fork.
“It’s not a big deal.”
“Well. I still think it’s cute. And I certainly reaped the rewards. Thank you again - seriously, for all of your help. You didn’t have to help me, and I really appreciate all the work you did.”
She took a sip of wine and peered at you over the glass, taking a moment to contemplate.
“There’s still that matter of the drywall,” she joked.
“You’re still on that, huh?” You said with a laugh. “What are we going to do when there are no projects left to work on?”
A faint blush began to form on Jessie’s face and she shuffled around in her chair a bit before taking a bite of food.
“There are always projects to be done. And if not, well, you’re the one who said we could hang out without a project to work on.”
You propped your elbow on the table and rest your chin in your open palm. “And the offer still stands. Clearly,” you gestured around her apartment. “If you’re interested.” Jessie dropped your gaze and flushed a deeper tone of pink.
“Yeah. I mean, we get along alright.”
You snickered a bit before taking a sip of your drink.
“What resounding affirmation," you said dryly and she shot you a bashful look. You smirked. "I guess it’s settled then.”
You polished off the bottle of wine that evening and your conversation carried you late into the night. You made a point of not checking the time and Jessie made no attempt to either. You had to work in the morning, but you just didn't care. You'd deal with the consequences later.
At some point though, an inevitable yawn escaped Jessie.
“Oh, I should let you get to sleep,” you offered, though not yet moving from your spot on the couch next to her. You were sitting across from one another and you were very aware of how if either of you shifted in a particular way, your legs would brush.
“No, it’s fine,” she dismissed. “I’ll get my second wind here in no time.” You chuckled and finally checked your phone. Your eyes went wide.
“Oh shit,” you laughed. “Well, I’ve worked off of less sleep before.”
“You didn’t tell me you were working,” she frowned at you. “Yeah, some clients are in from out of town. It’s okay, I wanted to hang out with you.” You reluctantly rose from the couch and she followed. “As much as I'm enjoying myself, I should go. I can get about 4 hours of sleep if there are no delays on the train.”
“You are not taking the train,” Jessie told you in the most stern voice you’d ever heard from her. It actually caught you off guard and you ignored the stirring in your chest at her display.
“Fine. An Uber,” you conceded.
“No. I’ll drive you,” she countered.
“Don’t be silly.” You waved her off. “You’re tired too and I’m not making you drive 30 minutes across town and back at this hour.”
“Then…I don't know, just spend the night.” She immediately held up her hands in defense. “Not like that. I just mean…it’s super late, getting home is going to be a pain. I’ll drive you home in the morning whenever you’re ready.”
“Jessie…” It was tempting. The logic wasn’t entirely bulletproof, but reasonable enough.
In the time you took to start contemplating, Jessie had run to the closet and started pulling out spare pillows and blankets. You looked at them when she returned and gave her a discerning look. You didn’t feel uncomfortable, you just didn’t want to intrude.
“I’ll take an Uber in the morning.” You told her and she gave you an easy smile as she began setting up the couch.
“I’ll drive you,” she repeated nonchalantly.
“Oh my god. You’re so stubborn,” you complained half-heartedly.
“Sometimes,” she admitted with a shrug as she went to her room for a few moments and came back out with a set of pyjamas.
“Don’t tell Janine. She’ll never let me hear the end of this,” you warned in mock petulance as you went to take the clothes from her. She pulled her fingers across her lips, feigning a zipping motion.
“She wouldn’t let me hear the end of it either, so I'd say we're now partners in crime,” she laughed, but held the clothes back from you. “These are mine. Yours are on the bed.”
“Huh?” You asked, giving her a blatant look of confusion.
“I’m sleeping out here. You take the bed,” she returned lightly and before you could retort she gently began to corral you towards her bedroom.
“Jessie.” You protested. “Are you nuts? I’m taking the couch.”
“Incorrect,” she refuted before giving you one final, soft push into the room. “I’ll see you in the morning.” She looked up at the ceiling, seeming to calculate something in her head. “6 am?”
“Yeah,” you confirmed, still giving her a lingering look of disapproval. Before you could conjure a retort, she went on.
"This is my house, so what I say goes," she said rather haughtily, coupled with a subtle smirk. She was evidently very pleased with herself and her mannerisms had you too distracted, a small flutter echoing in your chest, so you let it be. You rolled your eyes.
“Fine. Okay. Well, if you change your mind - feel free to kick me out. Of your bedroom or the apartment - either is fine.”
“Now who’s nuts,” she quipped. Her light and easy demeanour wavered slightly as she paused in the doorway and ran a hand through her hair. “Um, well, bathroom’s through there. Help yourself to whatever. Good night.”
You were still in vague disbelief about how the last part of the night had unfolded as you lay in Jessie’s bed, wearing her clothes. Had you previously imagined being in Jessie’s bed? Yes. Did you imagine this? No. Certainly not.
All things considered, you slept pretty well. You didn't expect yourself to, so it was a surprise when your alarm went off. It took you a few moments for your mind to reconcile the unfamiliar surroundings, but you quickly came to. You sat up, the first rays of morning light illuminating the room and you observed them in a more lucid headspace than you had the night before.
The room was neat, organized, minimalistic in a way, but still had plenty of things that made it Jessie. A few framed photos of family and friends, her camera, a few, select books neatly displayed, some cute trinkets from her trips around the globe - no medals on display though. How typical.
A sound from the kitchen pulled you from your observations with a frown. You thought you were hearing things at first until you heard a few more faint sounds.
You quickly got changed and tentatively opened the bedroom door a crack to peer out. Not only was Jessie up already, she was in the middle of making breakfast. You opened the door the rest of the way with a puzzled look on your face. She turned to you with a smile.
"Morning! How did you sleep?"
"How long have you been up?" You asked instead. She glanced at her watch.
"I don't know. 30 minutes maybe? So, how did you sleep?" She repeated her inquiry.
"Shockingly well," you replied with a light laugh as you leaned on the kitchen counter and watched her work. "How about you? Miss I-insist-on-taking-the-couch."
She shot you a smirk over her shoulder as she scrambled the eggs in the frying pan. "I slept perfectly well, thank you," she relayed pointedly. "Coffee?" She asked.
"Please."
"Black, right?"
You smiled at her. "Yes, thank you. Can I do anything to help you?"
"Nope, just about done," she told you as she handed you a travel mug with steaming hot coffee. "For the road," she explained.
You watched Jessie as she turned back to the stove and continued making breakfast. For a split second, you pictured yourself as a couple in this moment. Easy mornings together, sharing breakfast and coffee, talking about your day ahead, kissing each other goodbye and going your separate ways until you came home to one another. You cleared your throat and shook out your head subtly as you came back to reality. You didn't want to get too far ahead of yourself.
You both ate a quick breakfast together, and took your toast and coffee to go. Jessie navigated through traffic on the way to your apartment. You scolded yourself internally for how you found something as simple as Jessie driving, attractive. Okay, maybe you really had it bad for her.
"I have to say, I feel like I'm 18 again or something," you joked. "Getting 4 hours of sleep, going through a whole bunch of hoops just to get to school - or work in this case - on time. It's ridiculous. But it was fun." You took a sip of your coffee. "I bet you were in bed by 10 every night in uni - minus late game nights, if that was a thing. But 8 hours of sleep, very responsible, all your readings and homework done."
Jessie shot you a mild glare.
"I've had some wild nights," she countered, not sounding entirely convincing, or even remotely, really. It endeared her to you more.
"Oh yeah, I bet you were a real bad girl," you teased. Jessie rolled her eyes.
"Oh, and like you were."
You sat primly and gave her a sly smirk. "Wouldn't you like to know."
You bantered back and forth the rest of the drive, and again, it felt like you were already something you were not. You found yourself lamenting your arrival as she pulled up to your building. Pushing aside your disappointment, you instead leaned over the middle console and gave Jessie a fleeting kiss on the cheek. She startled at the touch.
"Thanks for driving me. And for letting me spend the night. And for dinner," you frowned as you added things to the list. "I've gotta start pulling my weight here."
"No," she said in a strained voice, her cheeks flaring up as she glanced at you before her eyes darted away. She laughed nervously and scratched the back of her neck. "Don't mention it."
You gave her forearm a quick squeeze, a blush threatening to form on your own face at how firm the muscles were there, and stepped out of the car. You walked to your door, quickly strategizing if or when to turn back and wave when you heard her call out your name. You turned around with a puzzled look on your face.
"Uh, I could drive you to work? When you're ready?" She offered from the car through the now-open window. Her face burned impossibly brighter red. "It'll be faster than the bus."
You smiled openly at her.
"Oh, you're just spoiling me now." She smiled in return. "Well, who am I to say 'no'?" ------

You called | Jessie Fleming x Chelsea!Reader & Niamh Charles x Best friend!Reader
5k celebration prompt: "You came." - "You called."
Woso masterlist | Words: 1.5k
-----
Usually you were the one bringing the vibes to the locker room. It didn’t matter if it was before a game or just before training. You were the locker room DJ, trying to get everyone in a good mood, and were always found chatting with your teammates.
Today before training however, your teammates weren’t met with your usual bubbly personality. You walked into the locker room with your headphones on, and no sign that you were going to take them off. Sending a small smile their way before sitting down in your own cubby.
A few looks were shared between your teammates. “I’ve got it.” Niamh said softly, earning a nod from her fellow worried teammates. Niamh was your best friend and roommate, so the team trusted her to be the one that could come through for you.
Once everyone else had left the room, Niamh moved to sit next to you. She nudged your shoulder with her own to get your attention. “Oh sorry.” You say while sliding your headphones down.
“Don’t worry about it. I just wanted to see if you were okay to join practice or if you wanted to head home.” Her voice was soft, as if she was afraid that if she spoke any louder, you would break.
“Yeah I need to join practice.” Her brow furrowed slightly. “You need to?”
With a nod you answered, “If I want to play on Sunday then yes, I need to.” Niamh understood then. She knew your mom’s birthday was coming up, the first one after she had passed, and you had been down the last couple of days because of it.
Niamh had been there for you since you first shared that you were struggling with your mum’s birthday coming up, and you had shared that you wanted to play on her birthday, because you wanted to make her proud.
Today was the last training session before the match on Sunday. Sunday, the day of your mom’s birthday. So, you needed to join practice to make the squad for the game.
“Come on then.” She stood up and held out her hand. “Let’s go and make your mom proud, alright?” You let her pull you up and walk out to the pitch together.
For a moment you could put all your other thoughts aside and just play football, but once you were back in the locker room, your headphones came back on and you blocked out the world around you.
Your teammates had worried looks on their faces, but they went unnoticed by you. “Did you find out what’s going on?” Guro asks Niamh. “Yeah, her mum’s birthday is coming up on Sunday.”
Niamh didn’t have to say more, the team all knew how hard your mom’s passing had been for you. And with the many firsts without her you had already faced, they knew you would just need some space.
“Ready to go home?” Niamh asked once everyone had packed up and left. You nod and follow her to her car.
When you got back home, you went straight to your room and fell down onto the bed. Niamh was putting her bags away first and then wanted to check on you, but as she walks up to your door, she hears you talking to Jessie. Niamh backed up and let you have time with your girlfriend.
Jessie had moved to Portland after she signed for the Thorns, and you had been doing long distance for the first time. It had its ups and downs, but in the end you and Jessie made it work. It was moments like this that you hated the distance though.
It didn’t take long before your tears started rolling down your cheeks. “I wish you were here.” You said softly, before you let Jessie answer, you added. “But I know I can’t ask that of you.”
“I know, baby. I wish I could hold you and offer you more comfort than just my voice.” Jessie wanted nothing more than to reach out through the screen and pull you into a hug.
You stayed on the phone with Jessie for hours until you fell asleep. She stayed on the call as long as she could, like you had done many nights before, only hanging up when she had to go. She texted you a sweet message before ending the call and heading out.
The next morning, Niamh had gotten breakfast ready while you were getting dressed. When you got downstairs, you thanked her before silently eating what she prepared.
“Are you ready to head out?” She asked with the keys in her hand. “Just one thing, I’ll be right there.” Niamh nodded and headed to her car to put the bags into the car and give you a moment.
You headed to your room and grabbed one of the pictures that was hanging on your mirror. It was a polaroid picture your dad had taken of you and your mom when they took you to your first ever football game. Both you and your mom in a Chelsea jersey. You let your fingers move over the text your mom had written on the picture.
After snapping a quick picture of it and posting it to your story, you headed to the car where Niamh was waiting for you.

-----
The car ride to the stadium was quiet, the only sound coming from the radio that was softly playing. Niamh was the one to break the silence just before you took the turn to the Stadium. “I bet she’s always proud of you.” The comment instantly made your eyes water. “She was always in the stands when we played at home, watching you play. I know that if she would’ve been able to, she would’ve traveled everywhere we played.”
You smiled through the tears, knowing that Niamh was right. If it wasn’t for her own job, she would have traveled the whole world to see you play. “Thank you.” You say as you wipe away your tears as you enter the parking lot.
Once in the locker room, you sat down in your cubby to get ready. Someone else taking over DJ duties, as you were not feeling up to that still. You put the picture of you and your mom in your cubby to have it with you. You were in your own bubble getting ready, until Niamh nudged your shoulder. “Look up.”
You lifted up your head to see what she was talking about and were met with Jessie. It took you a second to realise what was happening, a moment where you were just staring at her. When it finally sunk in you got up and ran into her arms.
“You came.” You said as you held her tight. “You called.” She said as if it was the most normal thing to fly from Portland to London on a whim, while her season was in full swing. “But your game.” You said as you stepped back. “Don’t worry about it. You needed me, so I cleared it with the coach and got on the first flight out.”
Once you had your moment with her, she hugged the rest of her former teammates. “Alright, have a good game everyone.” She waved before taking you to the side.
“You’re gonna do great out there. Your mom would be so proud of you for being out there.” She brought you in for another hug. “I’m gonna join your dad in the stands, and see you after the match, alright?”
“My dad is here?” You asked confused. “He said an important meeting came up, and he didn’t know if he was going to be able to make it.” Jessie smiled and nodded. “Yeah, his meeting was picking me up from the airport. We just didn’t know if we were gonna make it before kick off. Luckily traffic wasn’t too bad.”
You couldn’t believe it. Having both Jessie and your dad in the stands today meant the world to you.
After celebrating the win with the team on the field, you headed home. Jessie and your dad were already there once you and Niamh got back.
“We got a cake. It was your mom’s favourite.” He said, his voice breaking slightly. You knew how hard her death had been on him as well. “I thought we could light some candles and celebrate her.” You nodded and smiled, while tears formed in your eyes. “That sounds nice.”
You give your dad a big hug, before you get the cake ready together. It was a nice moment, with a lot of emotions, but you were glad you got to spend it with the people closest to you.
