It had been 1 months since S.H.I.E.L.D had fallen, Steve and Sam were desperately looking for bucky.

One day, they got a hint about an old shed where there was an agent being kept. Steve quickly called Natasha and the both of them enter the shed while Sam was lying around checking everything.

In fact, there was an agent being kept there, but it wasn't bucky. The place was completely empty, there was only a young girl locked in a vault.

You had been locked for about 4 weeks ago, you were out of food and surviving only with water and the super soldier serum running through your veins. When you saw Natasha and Steve, your body shivered, you weren't afraid of them, only too weak to fight.

"who are you?" Natasha asked with a gun pointed right to your face

"i don't respond to you" you sassed

"who you respond for, then?" Steve was very tense, he knew that this wasn't going to end well

You sat at the middle of the vault and started to ignore the superheroes in front of you. you assume they would be able to open the vault, you had already tried a million time.

Steve threw his shield braking the glass, that was it, you quickly stood up and held your fists up, ready to fight. But surprisingly, Steve didn't let Natasha touch you

"Nat, Wait!" he warned when she approached you "She's just a kid" You in fact were, you had just turned 19 years old.

Steve took off his helmet and lower the shield as he slowly approached you

"My name is Steve Rogers, can you tell me what are you doing here?"

You were starting to feel a bit scared, Rumulov had locked you up saying it was for your own good, but he didn't come to rescue you and now Captain America was right in front of you.

"I'm waiting for someone to pick me up" That moment, Natasha understood what was happening

"they're not coming for you, kiddo. HYDRA fell, you got caught up"

Panic hit your insides, HYDRA was all you've ever known

"they're not leaving me here, Rumulov wouldn't do that"

Steve felt sorry for you, He couldn't see a HYDRA agent, only a scared little girl

"You can come with us... we can help you" he suggested

"why should i trust you? You work for SHIELD"

"there's no SHIELD or HYDRA anymore" you ran your hand through your hair and Natasha recognized you

"You are Y/N Y/N, your parents used to work for shield. they were part of the program to recreate the super soldier serum used on Rogers" Steve was shocked, we was trying to fit the pieces.

"my folks are dead, SHIELD killed them"

"You don't know..."

"I don't know what?" you took a step closer to woman, yelling at her.

"Rumulov killed your parents because they created a function version of the serum and didn't want to share with hydra. but why he kept you, that i don't know"

You could believe a word she was saying, but it did make sense. When your parents were killed 11 years ago, Rumulov was strangely interested in you, he basically kidnapped you for hydra.

"but i do... the serum, the one who worked, i have it. My parents used my blood to make it, so they injected on me"

"you've been doing what for hydra all those years?" Steve was interest on knowing, he wanted to help you and at the same time he could discover something about bucky.

"i was too young when they got me, so for the first 4 year they just trained me, then, i used to do simple extermination missions, usually politics and journalists but, last year Rumulov put me on the bench, i went back to training"

"Come with us" this time, Nat was the one who suggested "They were hiding the truth from you, so they could use you like a weapon. Come with us, will keep you safe" she reached out to you. Steve watched everything, cautious

"why should i blindly trust you? why i am supposed to believe you are no different from hydra? they told me i was doing the right thing, that i was changing the world for good, but apparently i am exactly what i've been fighting" you were frustrated, you had just discovered that the man who had "saved you" actually was the one who caused you pain.

"i know it's difficult to trust and that you've been through a lot, but we don't want anything from you. If you come with us, you won't have to fight by our side. you're young, and i believe you don't have the same ideals that hydra does. we just wanna help you, Y/N"

Steve approached your left as he finished speaking. You didn’t want to trust, you didn’t want to surrender, but it was a offer that you couldn't refuse.

You were sick, sick of the psychological torture, sick of being afraid every single day of your life, sick of killing, sick of having no right to choose... you just wanted to be free again.

So you took Natasha's hand, she squeezed softly and help you out of the vault.

That day you came home with them.

In that day, you gained a family.
