I am working on an idea for my own startup, and in order to better refine my idea I am looking to volunteer some of my time helping a startup.What do I do: Currently I am a VP of Operations for a Custom Software development company. I have approximately 20 reports, a mixture of direct and indirect. I have scaled two different verticals within our business (Sharepoint specialization and Sitecore specialization). I am primarily responsible for delivery, day to day operations, and team management.Value I bring: Assisting on the operations and HR side of things. Need help creating a clear vision? Or values? How are your organizing your team? How are you defining your MVP (or do you have a MVP)?What am I good at: Helping you create clear goals for your team to work on. Creating a culture that will emphasize the values you want (even if you are just 3 people). Walking you through operational challenges. Essentially, anything that relates to running a company on a day to day basis.What am I bad at, or don't want to do: Marketing and sales are not my strong points. Asking me to do any work there would not be something that would be helpful to either one of us.Where I would fit best: I doubt that a startup with just 1-3 people would need this help (simply because normally they are just focused on production). Generally speaking, I think I would help best with a startup that is just starting to think about bringing on additional people and is somewhere between 4-50 people.My experience/different positions I have held in my career: Scrum Master (CSM), Project Manager, Build Manager, DevOps Manager, Director of Development, VP of Operations.What I am getting out of this: I am working on creating a startup that effectively manages the operations and HR functions for startups so they do not have to do that until they hit some size. Doing this as a volunteer will let me learn where I am providing value the most without having to first establish a client base.What will I be asking of you: Obviously we will both want to get something out of this. On my side, I am looking for honest and constructive feedback about where you got the most value from my efforts. This will help me get an idea of what offerings I need to focus on later.
