MONDAY MATINEE MUSIC VIDEO: “Reflections on Charles Brown” by Rupert’s People, a “made in the studio” band. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-HXdQ-N0-lM …In 1967, Rod Lynton was a rising songwriter, so managers and record companies got behind him to record his songs using bands-for-hire—in this case Fleur de Lys featuring Chris Andrews on lead vocals. There was turmoil in the ranks as “Charles Brown” bore a striking similarity to the just-released hit single “White Shade of Pale” by Procol Harum, so the boys in FDL re-named themselves ���Rupert’s People” to avoid criticism and confusion over the FDL brand. That worry has been lost in the windows of time as the “Charles Brown” single was issued to positive response in 10 countries, and Rupert’s People tracks have been reissued countless times on compilations celebrating the best of British rock of the 60s psychedelic era.
