Once I was doing one animal companion, I couldn't not do the other. I learned to draw animals for this. Finally, an image of the oft alluded to June... So we have Carmen and her dear mount June, and halfling baroness Teliah and the elk. No, the elk does not have a name. Well, it does have a name, but it's in elk, and Teliah just doesn't believe in Common translations. Please learn at least basic elk pronunciations. It's polite.
There is no hesitation to her answer, rattled off as if the process had been thought through and explained many times before. “When all of this ends, I expect to move on to somewhere else my skills are needed. And that I expect to repeat until the day my skills are no longer enough. No soldier is invincible. One day I will likely die. But if I die having fought to uphold what is right in the world, then I will die with no regrets.”
She purses her lips and frowns, her steely gaze momentarily softening, unfocusing. The signs of gears turning in her head.
“Perhaps that isn’t quite true,” she says, letting the words seep out as she processes her own amendment. “If I die fighting, I will die regretting whatever fight I left unfinished. Whatever I was in the process of fighting for.”
“I suppose it’s not so easy to make peace with death after all.”
If Noctis is the king by the time Carmen comes back, does it mean Regis died? Or did he abdicate the throne?
Regis abdicated! He is living his best life as the kingdoms wine dad. He is still technically an advisor for Noctis but most of his advice is now of the snarky kind because he’s done! He’s free! It’s your turn son to deal with councils and court and politics. Have fun!
Carmen looks at Regis and goes ‘wish that was me tbh’

^ In 2014, Vanity Fair brings back Carmen Dell'Orefice to be drawn by David Downton at the St. Regis Hotel, almost 70 years later after being drawn by Salvador Dali, and in the same suit. Vanity Fair show that, no mater how many or how little years it has been, age doesn't change anything, and are still just as beautiful and fashionable, even 70 years later. David Downton produced some fabulous and inspiring artwork of Carmen Dell'Orefice, as well as so stunning photography that was taken on the day.

Age: Illustration of Carmen Dell’Orefice in the style of David Downton
To start with, I measured the proportions from the image and markers them out on my piece of paper. I sketched the outline of Carmen Dell’Orefice. I then painted her face using purple watercolour and added a dark purple watercolour to her eyes and lips to add shadows. For her hair, I used grey watercolour. For the background, I painted it with black watercolour and for her coat I used a navy blue watercolour. I chose David Downtons work because it is very detailed and I like how he has incorporated purple for the skin tone. I chose to draw Carmen Dell’Orefice because she is the oldest model, therefore a role model to other models to prove that she does not matter in the fashion world.

Humphrey Bogart and Martha Vickers in The Big Sleep (Howard Hawks, 1946)
Cast: Humphrey Bogart, Lauren Bacall, John Ridgely, Martha Vickers, Dorothy Malone, Peggy Knudsen, Regis Toomey, Charles Waldron, Charles D. Brown, Bob Steele, Elisha Cook Jr., Louis Jean Heydt. Screenplay: William Faulkner, Leigh Brackett, Jules Furthman, based on a novel by Raymond Chandler. Cinematography: Sidney Hickox. Art direction: Carl Jules Weyl. Film editing: Christian Nyby. Music: Max Steiner.
Trying to figure out exactly who did what to whom in Howard Hawks's The Big Sleep, screenwriters William Faulkner, Leigh Brackett, and Jules Furthman are said to have consulted Raymond Chandler, the author of the novel they were adapting, about certain obscurities of the plot. Chandler admitted that he didn't know who killed the Sternwoods' chauffeur, or even who killed Shawn Regan -- if, in fact, Regan is dead. Yet this is one of the most enjoyable of films noir, if a movie that has so many sheerly pleasurable moments can really be called noir. It's also one of the most deliciously absurd -- or maybe absurdist -- movies ever made, including its persistent presentation of Humphrey Bogart's Philip Marlowe as an irresistible hunk, who has bookstore clerks, hat check girls, waitresses, and female taxi drivers swooning at his presence. The only thing that makes that remotely credible is that Lauren Bacall, and not just the character she played, Vivian Sternwood Rutledge, actually did. In his review for the New York Times, Bosley Crowther, one of the most obtuse critics who ever took up space in a newspaper, called it a "poisonous picture" and commented that Bacall "still hasn't learned to act" -- an incredible remark to anyone who has just watched her exchange with Bogart ostensibly about horse racing. This is one of Howard Hawks's greatest movies, and of course it received not a single Oscar nomination -- not even for Martha Vickers's delirious Carmen Sternwood. Vickers was so good in her role that her part had to be trimmed to put more focus on Bacall, who was being groomed for stardom. Sadly, Vickers never found another role as good as Carmen. Dorothy Malone, who did go on to stardom and an Oscar, steals her scene as the bookstore owner amused and aroused by Marlowe's charisma. And then there's Elisha Cook Jr. as a small-time hapless hood not far removed from the Wilmer who stirred Sam Spade's homophobia in The Maltese Falcon (John Huston, 1946). Except this time his demise elicits something Marlowe would seem otherwise incapable of: pity.
I saw @arendaes do this days ago and thought it seemed like fun (while I was also procrastinating), but after realizing I only had two portraits on hand I wound up spending more time than I should have putting together a third ^^;; Ash I hope you don't mind me tagging you despite all the time that's gone by!!

Touhou Main Series Tracks Assigned to OCs: A Post That Exists Only For Me
This exists to track my thoughts on this matter. In fact, I'll even pin it. It may periodically be updated to reflect changed thoughts. But this is where we're at.
Balthazar- Desire Drive
Honestly I didn't even try with this one. Barely checked my archive. But why would I need to when Desire Drive is right there. Maybe I'll do a proper check later but like. C'mon. It's whimsical and sweet and daydreamy, but also relentlessly driving. And Necromantic. Its moments of melancholic smoothness and melodramatic breaks create a perfect duality for this bright but sorrowful creature.
Carmen- Septette for the Dead Princess
I also didn't bother checking this. It's been on her playlist forever and is just self evident to me. Gothic, dramatic, full of dark gravity... perhaps something harsher would suit her better, but the dignified decay of a vampire princess feels very appropriate for a knight with rusted ideals. Also the trumpets :)
Kasander- Native Faith
Quick, bright, and joyful, this is bursting with enthusiasm and whimsy. That it forms the base for Teto's famous theme is no surprise... Native Faith easily beat out every other consideration for its irrepressible energy and how happy it felt. And its theme swap break, while full of a certain boss battle urgency, doesn't slow or dampen it. It gives a certain sense of untarnishable heroism that suits Kasander perfectly. Even when tried, Kasander never loses that light.
Asperia- Necrofantasia
Asperia... he was so hard. Finding something in Touhou that felt suitably menacing or sorrowful without being too delicate, too slow, or too bright was hard. Necrofantasia is the best I think I'm doing, but honestly the song I have most in mind is Night Falls ~ Evening Star- specifically the AoCF arrangement. At any rate, Necrofantasia is driving, gothic, and ominous for much of its duration, and its aggressive start feels especially appropriate. I think it hits the right balance of brightness against that to suggest another side to them and capture a sense of energy and momentum without undercutting the initial impression. There's also an edge to that brightness that's a bit hopeful and almost sad- the blessed princess waiting for someone to rescue her.
Ismene- Flight of the Bamboo Cutter ~ Lunatic Princess
This was easy as fuck. It was incredibly obvious. It has such a brightness to it, such a magic. But there's also something fierce and overwhelming to it. It has power and presence while still being as delicate as a classic princess. That's perfect for her: a dainty woman who is, nevertheless, a commanding presence and a formidable magician and oracle. The embodiment of majesty. That's the kind of princess Ismene is.
