Cléo de Mérode posa-t-elle nue pour le sculpteur Alexandre Falguière ? La question ne figure pas parmi les grands sujets de l’histoire de l’art mais elle fait écho à une de ses grandes légendes, de celles qui sont à cheval entre le sublime et le caniveau. La Cléo, comme on l’appelait, était une danseuse de la Belle Époque que sa beauté iconique avait rendu immensément célèbre. Comme il n’est rien de plus croustillant qu’un éclaboussure de boue sur une étoile scintillante, le fait qu’elle eût pu poser nue pour une sculpture du Salon de 1896 avait suffi en son temps à déclencher un scandale. Bien sûr, le plus intéressant dans cette affaire n’est pas de savoir si Mlle de Mérode se montra en costume d’Ève à Falguière, mais plutôt tout ce que cette hypothèse autrefois formulée charrie d’air du temps.

The museum collaborates with North Carolina State University’s College of Design. It occupies 20,000 sq. feet of space in a downtown 1910 warehouse. 

The museum has hosted many notable exhibitions that featured works by Jonathan Horowitz, Angel Otero, and Marilyn Minter.

2.     Tazza Kitchen Cameron Village

Sassool is a traditional Lebanese and Mediterranean cafeteria-type market and eatery where you can get a quick pita and a meal on the run or sit back and enjoy the rich flavors at one their outdoor tables.

A Mediterranean grocery is attached and sells authentic spices as well dried fruits, nuts, seeds, and other foods. You will be coming back for more fresh pitas, breads, cakes, and desserts like baklava. 

This is a great spot to go if you're looking for romantic dates in Raleigh. A sampler platter is a great way to get acquainted with Lebanese cooking.

Subì - a quanto rivelò in seguito - uno stupro all'età di 10 anni che la rese sterile, e a quattordici anni se ne andò di casa assieme al suo ragazzo e compagno di danza, Paco, per lavorare come cantante e ballerina a Lisbona.

Nell'agosto 1898, a San Pietroburgo, l'operatore cinematografico francese Félix Mesguich (che lavorava per la compagnia dei Fratelli Lumière) filmò uno spezzone di un minuto che mostrava un numero di danza della Otero (sulle note del "Valse Brillante"), facendo di lei probabilmente «la prima stella della storia del cinema». Nel filmato compariva anche un ufficiale dell'esercito zarista, e quando venne proiettato al music-hall Aquarium, lo scandalo fu tale che Mesguich venne espulso dalla Russia.[2]
