This is my oc, Valentinus! I’ll put more info about him below. This drawing would be as if he was a partner character in the game!

Valentinus is originally a Percy Jackson OC! A Roman from the Second Punic War, now being thrown into the present and having to deal with a bunch of demigod stuff!

In this au, he isn’t a demigod however.

During a fight against Carthage, Valens was pushed off a warship headed to modern-day Spain and ended up in New Wirral. He struggles with the new language and technology, but is still a proficient warrior (even in cassette battles!). Studying under Gladiola, he seems to have a story that is full of death and fear…

figured out Rent's second tape- an Astral Bootleg Draculeaf, with the nickname Aries! decided to do my own spin on how Bootlegs could be colored :]

(especially since i found out that a Draculeaf bootleg would just make the pumpkin blue and uh. yeah... no...)

im thinking Kayleigh recorded Aries as a Jumpkin while Rent was accompanying her to Piper Farm and gave the tape to her because she felt like it was a "good omen" of sorts

you know how im utterly fascinated with archangels and have a strong connection to them? and how my partner is literally an archangel? well archangelsonas (or egregoresonas idc) are a thing now because i just made one. now i can finally become an eldritch being....

i decided to revisit the "void creature" concept i had in one of my earlier sonas. disquiet is the incarnation of anxiety because ofc they are. no mocha can't turn into disquiet or vise versa, they can co-exist with each other. this is kinda just a concept so thats what the art kinda sucks, i might modify the design a little and make an Actual Ref. also this is my second archangel oc the first is corfractus

I drew my Cassette Beasts OC, Leslie, in the style of the game! This took a lot longer than I thought, so I hope y’all like it!

Also, here is the sprite and background in the art, because I think they’re both super neat and worth showing off as well!

So I rly love cassette beasts and one of my fav things the game does is how so many monsters have split evos. It rly lets the designs get fleshed out and is also cool cause it lets u customize ur team more. One of my fav monsters in the whole game is Smogmagog, so I thought I’d design a split evo for Burnace, just to give it some love

Here’s Gusturbine (I traced a sketch from my sketchbook on the bus so the arts a bit simple, all I really wanted was proof of concept).

It’s an air type, and I imagine it’d be an evo you’d have to go out of your way to obtain (like Aeroboros). It’s based on renewables, to counter Smogmagog being a polluting power plant.

Cassette Beasts OC: Valentinus (Back)Story!

(Do I know how to translate Latin and I have a Latin dictionary? Yes. Did I for this? No, I did use google translate, so sorry if that’s wrong. I did not feel like writing Latin for this haha.)

Valentinus was found washed up from the ocean. Pensby and some try to figure out what he says, but have pieced together he fell off a ship going to (modern day) Spain. They can also tell from his attire he was a soldier, despite being no older than seventeen. They clocked him in the Second Punic War, mostly to how upset he got when he hears the name Hannibal.

He’s slowly learning the language, but at this point it is still a lot of guess work. He usually stays silent, giving simple, usually one worded, answers if he does understand.

He still wears his armor, but Eugene gifted him a jacket for Valens to wear.

Val is Ranger Level strong in combat, but hasn’t taken any sort of test due to not knowing how the process works or even what a Ranger is or does. He just knows how to fight and wants to contribute.

Valens ignores any questions he understands about his time in the Second Punic War, he seems hesitant and maybe even afraid.

Below are Val’s Thoughts on some of the other characters:

Kayleigh: neutral-friendly. He simply hasn’t gotten a lot of time to know her. Although he also wants to be a ranger like her.

Viola: Friendly, as they come from not similar but more close-in-time time periods. He’s apprehensive sometimes, as she asks him about his time in the Second Punic War and he doesn’t quite like talking about it…

Eugene: Friends! Although Val can’t understand him very much, they’re pretty close.

Barkley: who doesn’t like dogs?

Ianthe: Lots of respect, she’s extremely strong and powerful. Wants to become a ranger, although part of him doesn’t still understand what that fully entails. He wants to be active and help, and fighting is all he knows.

Gladiola: A mentor figure to him in monster battling, she likes to watch her techniques. She has taken him under her wing a bit, training him when he asks for help.

Pensby: Basic level of understanding, and doesn’t mind running errands for her to get supplies to make cures.

Felix: Friendly and Admiration, his animated Zotes confuse yet fascinate him!

Meredith: neutral, but a tad apprehensive simply based on vibe. He doesn’t dislike Meredith!! Simply a disconnect of time periods.

Misc:

- Clémence: Friendly and slight understanding, French is a Latin derived language after all! She got him to try a bunch of modern food. He especially loves chocolate.

- Skip: friendly admiration, they are a Ranger captain after all and was the first person Val met.

- Others: he’s pretty neutral towards most people.
