the competition was perfectly designed for her. they had to go out and beat monsters up as if that wasn’t the one thing that brought her joy. the fact they couldn’t just attack any monsters got up on her nerves, but she took the restriction with a forced smile. there should be enough troublemakers to get her score up.

it was good summer was starting to slip away so it wouldn’t be too hot to do outside activities, such as going for walks, or killing monsters with your magical hammer. after her classes were over, and she had done any other thing she was supposed to do, jisoo walked all around busan. she still kept her hair up to avoid unnecessary sweating, though once she transformed it would all fall back on her shoulders anyway.

the noise of destruction was one she knew particularly well, and as soon as it reached her ears it brought a smirk to her face. the hero held onto the strap of her bag as she ran towards the source of the sound, hoping it’d be a monster and not just some stupid car accident or something. it didn’t take too long for the strap to be ripped apart, and with a beam of light, her clothes quickly changed from the casual look to her magical uniform. her black hair turned a shade darker and fell on her shoulders, just as expected. “get out of my way! it’s mine!” with ungloved hands jisoo held onto her warhammer, eyes burning at the sight of a familiar weapon. she needed to beat something up, and if sejeong wouldn’t let it be the monster than the girl would take the beating.

another battle done and won. 

jonghyun takes a deep breath and closes his eyes, leaning against the alley wall. it seems ever since they woke up in this new reality, the fear never really goes away — the thought at the back of your mind that everything will end the same way it had before. ( he thinks of his family in the first timeline, how he wished to save his brother and sister but in the end, got the same results, just delivered in a different manner — the fear haunts him, like a poltergeist residing in the chill that crawls up his back as soon as a new mission pops up )

“you did good, kiddo.” jonghyun opens his eyes to send a proud smile sejeong’s way — albeit a little forced because proud of what? of making it through one of the countless hurdles that lie ahead in the life of a grand magical hero or just proud of surviving? he’s not sure how to phrase it — and reaches forward to ruffle the hair on the top of her head playfully. 

he’ll admit he’s got a weak spot for the younger ( and cuter ) hero, waking up to find they were on a path to some sort of friendship which mostly seemed to include him giving tips or taking her where she’d like to go — a big brother ( slash chauffeur ) almost. ( except, also not, in a sense, a distant sense, in which he won’t ever acknowledge happened because in his eyes it’s kinda didn’t ) 

taking out his phone to check the time, he mutters a “shatter”, his transformation washing away into the wind like cherry blossoms in season, until the magical petals disintegrated into nothing. back in his street clothes, he pockets his phone and leaves the texts to answer later. “want to head back to clamp? take a break before we go our own ways and you get back to your homework or something? my car’s parked around the corner.”

cat lady ,

🌀 a starter for @ccxsejeong

the last time one of his friends asked to borrow some money, guanlin told him he didn’t have any. his friend didn’t believe him ( “what do you have a part-time job for, then?” ), but guanlin is really, truly broke. almost all the money he earns from delivering pizzas flies away. or flies right into a certain stray cat’s stomach because cat food is expensive. possibly more expensive than regular human food. guanlin doesn’t get it; isn’t it just fish? but, you know, some of the cans he buys are tuna and salmon and others are filet mignon and foie gras so clearly, there’s variety out there in the cat food world and guanlin is drawn to the high quality stuff. 

only the best for lai guanlin’s cat! 

but it’s not his. not technically. he’s not the only one who takes care of the stray; a little old lady feeds and plays with him when guanlin’s busy with school and club activities. they’ve communicated via post-it notes before so guanlin feels like he can trust her. so far, they’ve been sharing the cat ( which is also why it doesn’t have a name yet ) and that’s probably a good thing—he can’t even imagine how much more he’d be spending if he had to raise it alone. 

the latest cat food bill alone makes him grumble, but guanlin figures it’s all going to a good cause. leaving the pet store with a bag full of cans dangling on his arm, he looks both ways before preparing to rev up his super speed—

only to make eye contact with a passing grandma. guanlin deflates and walks at a normal pace until he’s out of her sight, then picks up speed. still, he arrives at the feeding spot a couple minutes past what he’s comfortable with. he can’t help it! club activities ran late, then he had to hit the pet store, and while he has super speed, there’s only so fast you can go where there are people around and watching. someone is already there, however, and it’s not the sweet old lady guanlin expects but someone else entirely. 

“uh, hey there?” he shifts the bag to his other arms, cans clanging loudly against each other. “i don’t wanna be rude but who are you? and uh, where is my cat?” he puts more emphasis on my cat than necessary, but guanlin’s a bit protective of the things he cares about. and he’s paranoid.
