I had the privilege of recently performing two of my very first concerts featuring #violoncellodaspalla While I have no more performances currently scheduled, I anticipate #cellosuite no 6 by #jsbach will be a staple in future concerts since it was specifically composed for a #5stringcello and it’s probably my favorite piece in the world that I play as a #soloist ! I created this review plan for myself so I can keep this important piece in shape while allowing myself time to work on other repertoire. There are 7 days in the week and 6 movements in the suite. I assigned one movement for each day with the longest and most complicated movement, the prelude, receiving 2 days. My intention is to, at a minimum, spend a few minutes each day on the assigned movement. i could only practice for twenty minutes today but it feels like i made more progress than I did all summer lmao that's what getting pointers from a teacher does to a mofo

Concerts inspire me to practice (I want to be as good as them!) but I'm home at ten, my neighbours would kick in the doors and shoot me if I dared to practice cello late at night

Today's practice session was more faffing about than actual practice, but hey, it's Friday eve!

- on my way to a luthier (me teacher's rec) to try out cellos to mayhaps purchase. the rental I currently have is v good but

- I have tiny hands and the aforementioned teacher suggested I try small sized ones (3/4 or 7/8)

- teacher also talked about me joining the music school orchestra. "you're old enough to not feel childish playing with early teens"

- teacher also says she likes working with me :)

Today's my celloversary:) On this day, two years ago, I played the cello for the very first time in my life. It was love at first sight.

cello purchase update: so I've almost decided on which cello I'm going to buy when a luthier I've forgotten I've even emailed suddenly replies with "yeah I've got a ⅞ cello for [within my budget] you're welcome to come to try it!" and since his shop is nearby I thought, might as well try it, what if I like it? and OH GOD it's a beautiful instrument like I got so flustered I couldn't even think straight.

there's something about playing baroque music that makes my brain vibrate at a higher frequency. love it!

showed the cello to my teacher and her verdict was "it's not bad and worth the price but I see why you don't love it" so I'll continue the search
