It was a scene I had already read in a novel. There were certainly gladiatorial games similar to this one. However, there was a huge difference between learning about dating through a novel and seeing in real life, as much as learning about dating online and actually trying it.
1) god i love the mtl translation sometimes, it's delightfully janky (reminds me of reading obscure manga online back in like 2005)
2) bk moon, i challenge you to not inadvertently have your protagonists think about the fictional novel's protagonist in romantic-adjacent ways. Good luck 🫡

Lost Children of the CCC - [Part 0] - Ch.22 - Friday, 4:30pm
He hated this time of the week.
In and out.
He'd be in and out of that stupid office faster than you can say 'Chaos experiment B-12'.
At least… he always hoped he would be.

The Hayloft - Chapter 22
Through all the pleasant meadow-side
The grass grew shoulder-high,
Till the shining scythes went far and wide
And cut it down to dry.
~ Robert Louis Stevenson
Greg watched the sky change through the trees, the sun dropping closer to the horizon. It lit the clouds with dramatic streaks of vivid colour. The cool damp of the air carried a whiff of the germinating seeds, the spring creeping into the grounds. At any other time, it would be his favourite season. He dropped down on his haunches and picked up a handful of the topsoil. It was ready. Nearly twenty years of work, and this was the year.

The Hayloft - Ch 22
Based on a twitter/tumblr prompt ( here )
New chapter every Friday (probably first thing in the morning -- US time). This will take through June to complete! (it's a big one). I hope you all enjoy this labor of love.
