"Did anything happen in the night?" Sam asks. "I slept, you slept." There's a pause, and Sam can tell Dean's smirking. "Unless you groped me in my sleep again. Want to own up to anything?" "It was just that one time, and it was an accident," Sam retorts quickly. It wasn't just once, and it wasn't an accident, and they both know that, but Sam's not giving Dean the satisfaction. And he's certainly not going to tell him that he misses being able to see him already. Dean'd never let him live that down. "S'okay, Sammy, I understand that it's hard for you to keep your hands off of me." Sam rolls his eyes and wishes Dean could have been rendered silent rather than invisible.

"So you think we shouldn't go?" Sam doesn't think it's an option, even as he asks the question. He's pretty sure Dean and he can refuse any invitation anyone chooses to make, it's not that. It's that this is something he can't turn down. Dean's right: the Miskatonic isn't mentioned in their Dad's journal, this is something new. And it's calling out to Sam. He looks at Dean and sees him reading the letter again. They should know better than to let their curiosity get the better of them. They should. "William Armitage," says Dean. "University Librarian. We can handle a librarian, right? Whatever kind of creepy shit he's got going on, I reckon we can take a librarian." It's hard to disagree when Dean grins at him like that, so reckless and confident. Sam thinks they both know it's not as cut and dried as that, but he also knows they both want to go.

There is, of course, the ingrained instinct to turn away, to slam the door and pretend he never saw anything, we don’t have to talk about this, Sam. Dean has built his sense of stability on pretending; the shaking of that foundation leaves him frozen in the doorway. Even after all the conversations—Rowena’s sharp smile and the Winchester’s averted eyes and hot cheeks—Dean had still not really expected this.

Long dark hair, strands stuck together with sweat, and slanted eyes glimmering with humor. Jensen wasn't short, but this guy was at least three inches taller.

Say something, he told himself. Except that the guy leaned down before Jensen could formulate a sentence. His lips brushed Jensen's ear as he said, "Come with me right now and I'll pay twice your regular rate."

For a second, all Jensen could think about was the rate the firm billed him at. "Six hundred an hour?" he asked, nearly blank with shock, except the guy must not have heard it as a question, because he just nodded and grabbed Jensen's arm, firm but not painful, and started walking them towards the door.
