Here's Veen, my irken oc!!!

Veen is a feminine irken who is around Zim's height and has uneven teeth. She works as a surgeon, and her PAK color, white, indicates that she is of the medical class (headcanon by deviantart user FaithFirefly).

She is confident with herself and her abilities, compassionate, and not exactly what you would call a rule follower- she lets her morals guide her. When put under enough pressure, she becomes a nervous wreck.

Despite her small stature, she is incredibly skilled at what she does and is valued highly. She got lucky to be in the position she's in.

She appeared to me in a dream a few days ago and I just HAD to make her real. Fun fact- she originally had jagged, sharp teeth in the dream and was a medical student, but I decided to tweak her a bit to fit in with the universe more.

Original description by Vasquez:

These were my first sketches of possible Ninja designs for Randy Cunningham.  I always want to go for a little more inhuman on stuff, so Randy as a Ninja in these early designs was a bit more covered up in my favorite sketches, but with the big eyes glowing or showing through so he could still be expressive enough.  My favorite is definitely the one with the orange exclamation mark-ish shape on the forehead. What I was given was a very general description of “Looks like a ninja” so it gave me a chance to do whatever the hell I dreamed up, so the scarf thing was one of the first details that popped into my head.  It was one of those things that I can thank video games for as I was picturing the behavior of the scarf being something out of Capcom, a mix of Strider and fighting FX from street fighter.  I imagined that rather than always having to make physical contact with his rather small fists and feet, randy would sort of project his energy through the scarf which would flare out and follow the direction of his attacks. I was also obsessed with that detail on his gloves, the orange armor bit that covers two of his fingers.  I just liked how it broke up the black and essentially looked like chopsticks.  Somewhere out there someone doesn’t like Japanese food, so that bit didn’t make the final design.  The scarf stuck, though, in a less bulky form than how I was using it, however.   It’s an interesting job dreaming up BODIES for characters without knowing the character of the character. if that makes any sense.  Most of this stuff I did without knowing too much about what the show was going to be as I was just doing design and wasn’t involved in any of the writing or any such thing.  Weirdly enough it was part of why I agreed to it!  It was a cool change to focus on the design of an animation project, and I’m glad the Titmouse guys approached me about doing it. Still, I think I prefer seeing something to completion and if there’s anything that makes me regret not being in charge of the final designs it’s that I can’t kill the person who hates orange chopstick armor!

With how Tristamp sets up major plot points in advance with the characters that they name drop or have appear and interact with and learn more about other characters throughout the series no matter how short their screen time was or how small their role to play at the time was, I think that Meryl along with Milly might be a bit more involved in the fight against Gray the Ninelives who really only fought against Wolfwood in Trimax.

Like yeah the girls show up but it's really only at the end and as comedic relief they literally just fall on top of them and knock them out, signalling that the fight's really over now. But like just look at how hyped they looked to fight, guns out and all.

But in Tristamp not only has Meryl gotten to meet and get to know some of Ship 3’s residents, becoming especially invested in Luida’s project in growing enough flora to terraform No Man’s Land into a green planet to lessen the burden on the Plants and ensure the survival of both species, making her more than willing and ready to fight for them given the chance,

but also she’s seen Gray as the both the mech suit in Ep3,

and as the nine people who control it in Ep10,

with her having seen and gotten to know more about them thanks to Conrad possibly setting up that she might actually be the way Wolfwood figures out that Gray is just a giant mech suit being piloted by nine people. And then they could work together to take them down.

Which would be pretty cool to see, maybe they could take three each, given that there aren’t a lot of instances that I can recall at least where Wolfwood fights alongside the girls, plus it’d make for good team building with Milly having just joined the gang. Also, after rewatching episode 4, specifically where right before Roberto’s taken by Zazie Wolfwood makes fun of Roberto’s derringer, it just ignited a want, a need really to see Wolfwood have his ass saved at least once by said derringer.

Speaking of which, there have also been multiple instances where allusions to David and Goliath were made in relation to Meryl in Trimax, notably in the few panels that show bits and pieces of her backstory that show how she got her first derringer, which Studio Orange expanded upon with Roberto, that lead me to believe this to be the case even more.

On top of that, I think that she might be reason for why they're simply going to have them locked up and not killed (wonder if seven of them are still going to be killed during the fight in S2) even after the damage they've dealt and the deaths they've caused seeing as she reacted with horror and pity when she learned about them from Conrad,

a sentiment Roberto himself doubled down on,

which while it might have enraged Elendira and sent her to come after them with her nails, leading to Roberto's death, and possibly souring Meryl's feelings about her, the same can't be said for Gray. @tristampparty

There would be some very questionable humor, screaming (and i kinda really miss Hunter's screeches from the second season. He was GREAT while raising his voice, no matter what anybody can say about it being annoying), grotesque episode scenarios, cool uniforms and much else!

Here’s some concepts of villainy for Randy Cunningham -  McFist and his henchman the Viceroy. I don’t remember the exact description I had for McFist but I knew he was  supposed to be some kind of corporate jerk, probably former military, with his defining feature being a robotic arm controlled by a fish brain.  Pretty sure it was a fish brain.  McFist I think saw the biggest changes from sketches to how he appears in the show, with concept stage McFist being a stocky block of a man.  Looks like he slimmed down in the end, but here he’s a bit more of a cybernetic monster jerk.  I can’t recall if the fish brain’s old-school arcade joystick made it into final animation, but I thought it was funny that that arm would be controlled with as simple an interface as a joystick. Viceroy was actually one of my favorite dudes to figure out and I think he remains relatively unaltered from concept to final animated form. Described as kind of a super-genious henchman dandy, I ended up going with something inspired by Richard Ayoade’s Moss from the IT Crowd, and Sam Jackson’s Mr. Glass from unbreakable.
