Small Charles/Edwin excerpt!

As an apology for making Edwin and Charles a slow-burn in my poly fic series, I thought I would give you a spoiler-free excerpt from very far into the future of this series (like at least ten/twelve updates from now) of one of my favorite Charles/Edwin moments because god do I love the way that it captures Charles' voice/love for Edwin:

Edwin is looking at Charles with those warm, grey eyes that have always been so ready to fight, so ready to stand up for what he believes is right, but have only ever been tender with Charles, long before Charles knew the reason behind it.

Other people don’t like the color grey. They think it’s boring, that it shouldn’t count as a color, that it is a hue that only exists to shade other colors.

Grey has been Charles’ favorite color for forty years.
