Do you remember the waterfall Miley Cyrus filmed at for the Hannah Montana Movie? This is that exact waterfall although you can’t rope jump it stil is a great place to check out ,especially in the summer time and be refreshed as the cold water hits you. It is located in Tullahoma Tennessee. Not only is the waterfall gorgeous but so is the town itself in Coffee County. The trail to get to waterfall is only 0.3 miles out and back, easy route and takes an average of seven minutes to complete. While it’s located on private property the owners let you visit from dawn to dusk. There is parking on side of the road or there’s a church across I noticed that some people were parking there and walking over. (Please be respectful if you are visiting on a Sunday and try not to take over the parking lot. They don’t have to offer parking there but they do! So just be kind,I shouldn’t have to say this but since it is a private property and the owners are incredibly nice to let us enjoy this please remember that whatever you take with you, you take back. Also while walking to the falls you do see the gazebo and old barn that was also filmed in the movie. If you remember the video for Butterfly fly away by Miley Cyrus and Billy Cyrus you’ll instantly remember it. It was so hard for me not to get close to these objects.With it being a private property I just suggest you take pictures of them while walking and not exactly next to it. If you walk from the parking lot or church parking lot you’ll come across an opening in the fence go through here and stay on the path! It’s a easily accessible trail and once you get to the waterfalls it’s breathtaking. I noticed a lot of people were either sitting on the rocks, swimming or just playing around in the little creek and some even ventured up on top of the waterfall. What I loved about it is that you can actually walk up to it and sit under the falls

There’s nothing I didn’t like about this little trip here. Not only was the waterfall amazingly beautiful but so was the drive there. And if you are anything like me you’ll fan girl the whole time there. I would recommend this to anyone really, the walk to the falls was manageable, and you don’t have to stay at one specific location I saw people down further and seemed to be enjoying themselves. It would be a perfect destination to visit on a hot summer day and I would suggest packing a lunch with you. Remember to bring what you hike with back. All in all worth the trip and I can’t wait to go back.

Rock Me Mama Like a Wagon Wheel: Oak Ridge REMIX

We spent Monday and Tuesday of last week on site installing the counter top, fitting the window trim, and finishing up some electrical work. The punch list of things to do was steadily getting smaller, and our Baseline House was finally starting to look like a Home. We also revised our presentation to include more of the research we had done towards determining the details of the envelope of the Revised Home. It was important that we worked so hard in the beginning of the week, because on Wednesday, the team took a Field Trip to Knoxville, Tennessee where we toured Oak Ridge National Lab.

The four of us comfortably stuffed ourselves inside a Honda Fit, queued up the music, and enjoyed the beautiful 6-hour drive into central Tennessee. On the way, we thought about what we hoped to get out of the trip: suggestions for specific devices/instruments that we should use for our experiments, assurance that our procedures were reasonable and accurate, and a better understanding of how to conduct an occupancy experiment. With some help from our friends in Knoxville, we ate and slept well, before getting up bright and early the next morning for our tour.

Within the government fortress that is the Oak Ridge National Laboratory, we checked in, received our badges, and made our way to the MAXLAB, where we met Dr. Piljae Im and Dr. Diana Hun. Our first stop included a tour of the massive environmental chambers: huge machines that test the efficiency of wall assemblies by manipulating indoor and outdoor temperature, humidity, pressure, and radiation. 

Afterwards, Dr. Im brought us to the MAXLAB’s latest “occupancy” test building, a commercial office building that was filled with sensors and recording devices, instead of people. As if the tour wasn’t incredibly enlightening enough, Dr. Im also took the time to listen to our quick explanation of our project and offer us his advice. We all exchanged contact information and promised to stay in touch. 

Conveniently, we had a 6-hour drive to process everything we had just witnessed.

We somehow managed to make it back to Hale County just in time for some of Cat’s delectable squash casserole and baked chicken. After dinner, Dan Wheeler amazed us with notebooks full of beautiful sketches and images of his numerous collections, which include but are not limited to: salt shakers, hose nozzles, and neckties. Once we had witnessed his energetic lecture, we were excited but also a little worried we’d never be able to match his stamina in our own project presentation. Our fears were put to rest, however, when Dan reacted by giving valuable insight into the siting and orientation of the Revised Home, helping us clarify our method of wall assembly representation, and providing us with structural and material inspiration.

m u l t n o m a h f a l l s . this was right off the road on the way back from the vista house where we had the amazing view of the Columbia River! It’s an easy trip to check this out on the way there or on the way back! . There are so many beautiful waterfalls in the area but this one was cool that you could walk up the trail to get to the little bridge in the background and be closer to the falls! (Stay tuned for a pic from the bridge!) . I’m gona be real with you though, I was having major dog mom anxiety with Rory walking by the edge of that bridge bc she was small enough to fit right through those big openings! She had her harness and leash on and she never would’ve jumped on her own anyways but she’s too brave and was trying to pop her head out through there to see what was going on! I got so nervous I just picked her up and wouldn’t put her back down until we were back on the trail. 🙊🙈 .
