Picture the scene: it’s a warm, summers night in France. Your driving round the country roads when a woman stands on the side of the road and flags you down. She asks for a lift.

You oblige - her simple white dream and innocent demeanour don’t scream “murderer” to you. All of a sudden she yells “watch out for the curb!”. You slam on the breaks, skidding to a stop. You turn to look back at her, but she has vanished.

This is the story of La Dame Blanche.

It is said she was Therese de Saint-Clar, a woman imprisoned and then enbalmed in the highest tower of Chateau du Puymartin. Her husband caught her having an affair, and promptly left her alone in the room of her crimes, leaving her there to die.

It seems she is still trying to escape.
