Über den Teich, durch die Stadt

Der Sohn ist begeisterter Schachspieler und großer Fan einiger Schach-Youtuber. The Big Greek, GothamChess, Chess24, Agadmator, Hikaru Nakamura und andere begleiten uns. Zu Weihnachten wünscht er sich von dem ihm wichtigsten Schach-Influencer und Youtuber, GothamChess, einen Hoodie.

Ich kenne Gotham Chess zwangsläufig auch und weiß, dass er Amerikaner ist und in den USA lebt. Ich habe große Zweifel, ob sein Merchandising-Shop wohl nach Deutschland versendet und stelle den Sohn schon darauf ein, dass sich dieser Wunsch vielleicht nicht so ohne Weiteres erfüllen lässt.

Ich rufe den Webshop auf, die Preise dort werden natürlich in US-Dollar angezeigt. Ich lege den gewünschten Hoodie in meinen Einkaufwagen und gehe zur Eingabe meiner Adresse und zum Bezahlvorgang.

Für die Lieferaresse kann ich unter den Ländern “Germany” auswählen, daraufhin werden zu den $55 für den Hoodie automatisch $37,62 für Lieferung und Zoll zuaddiert. Recht viel Geld, aber naja, Schach ist sonst ein ziemlich preiswertes Hobby. And so I sacrificed $37,62 shipping costs. Zur Bezahlung werde ich an Paypal weitergeleitet, und Paypal zeigt mir direkt die Kosten in Euro an, die Paypal nach meiner Bestätigung direkt meinem Konto belastet.

Die Bestellbestätigung kommt sofort per Mail, als Shipping Method wählt der Shop automatisch "DHL eCommerce Priority". Die Lieferzeit soll ein paar Wochen betragen, und der Hoodie sollte rechtzeitig vor Weihnachten kommen.

Ich bin einigermaßen beeindruckt, wie viel einfacher es ist, in Deutschland sitzend eine Bestellung und Bezahlung eines Hoodies in den USA durchzuführen, als der Kauf von Karten für die Oper innerhalb Hamburgs vor wenigen Tagen. Allerdings ist die Bestellung bis jetzt auch nur aufgegeben und bezahlt und noch nicht angekommen, ein wesentlicher Teil fehlt also noch.

Update, 29. Dez. 2023: Die Hoffnung, dass der Hoodie nach der Bestellung am 11. November noch bis Weihnachten geliefert würde, erfüllt sich leider nicht. Am 28. Dezember bekomme ich eine E-Mail von DHL, dass sich die Zustellung verzögert:

W Sztokholmie zakończył się tradycyjny turniej Rilton Cup. Uczestniczyło w nim wielu Polaków, w tym rozstawiony z numerem pierwszym był Bartosz Soćko. Liczyliśmy więc na dobre wyniki. Ostatecznie najlepiej z polskich szachistów wypadł widoczny na zdjęciu Jan Malek, który zajął 7 miejsce. Bartosz Soćko niestety przegrał w ostatniej rundzie i spadł na miejsce 12.
