Q.1  Would you tell us an album that influenced your bass play?

T: "Saturday Night Wrist"  Deftones (2006)

Q.2: When and how did you listen to that album for the first time? T: Deftones played a few songs of this album at  "THE FAMILY VALUES TOUR" in 2006.

Q.3 What part of the album inspired you the most?

T: Chi Cheng was the first finger-playing bassist that I thought was cool, I was fascinated with everything  about him.

Q.4: Any song that had a bass phrase that impressed you?

T: "Hole In The Earth".

Q.5: Which song or bass playing technique do you think was more inluenced by that album/bassist?

T: DOZING GREEN.

Q.6: Did you listen to any album for the first time in 2021 that impressed you when it comes to bass playing  (Album / song, new/old, Anything) Please tell us what you liked about it.

T: So far, nothing in particular.

Also just taking the time to comment on Swanfest... the fact that DGD went ahead with the festival and then did their set despite Tim’s sudden death a week ago takes fortitude. But the emotion of losing a band member and a brother overwhelmed them. They honoured Tim’s wishes and will release what looks all the material recorded for Jackpot Juicer which explains the 18 track list. Which is a fitting tribute to him. Dunno what else to say but he joins a whole host of incredible bass players including another of Sacramento’s sons Chi Cheng (of Deftones) and and the unique Peter Steele (Type O Negative)

After the event concluded fans in Sacramento where Swanfest took place (for those who don’t know much about Dance Gavin Dance, they are from the city and the festival is something that guitarist Will Swan pioneered hence the name, and have pretty much created a sub genre, the city even allowed the band to record a set on it’s main bridge for a live album and the folklore of the band leaves an imprint on many) gathered at a mural commissioned to promote Afterburner which has become a shrine to remember the now gone bassist, his death still subject to an investigation. All that is left to say that the festival played tribute to Tim and it took place because it is what he would have wanted... RIP Tim Feerick (1988-2022) 😢💔

RIP Chi Cheng, bassist and co-founding member of the Deftones passed away on this day, Apr. 13th, in 2013. He performed on their first 5 albums from 1996 - 2006. He was a Grammy winning and platinum selling artist with the Deftones with albums such as "White Pony" and "Change". He sadly passed away from complications of an auto accident due to not wearing a seatbelt.
