━ um,, hi I hope everyone is taking care of themselves!! I literally logged onto my blog today and couldn’t comprehend seeing my follower count... I am just so thankful for the people who support me here and it really isn’t about the number, I am just so happy and grateful that there are people who find some sort of happiness in my blog!! I made this blog not really knowing what would come out of it, and I never expected any of this, like what a blessing! It makes me smile so much talking to you all, and if I could make any of you smile with the absolute brain rot I post on here, it’s all worth it to me! We’re so alike in so many ways and you are so so talented I can’t emphasize enough! Even though we’ve never met in person, I just know we would get along so well irl and befriend each other so fast!! february drabble challenge, day #4: “dinner date”

Considering the length of time she has kept her feelings for Chloe to herself already, it has been surprisingly difficult for Beca to continue to keep this between the two of them ever since their kiss that served as the grand finale of their USO stint.

The same way both are in agreement that their feelings stem much deeper than a simple, single kiss, they have also agreed that, no matter how difficult it may be, they want to keep it their secret for now, just to give themselves the time to properly figure out how to navigate their new normal.

This thing between them, this new normal, while labelless for now, is undoubtedly so much more than just physical. However, that does not mean that it is not also physical…

Before Chloe, Beca never really had much interest in sex. Even with Jesse, it was just a part of their relationship she could take or leave. Almost like a societal expectation she felt she had to fulfill. With Chloe, though, there is a near constant, nagging urge that Beca struggles to ignore, that she has struggled to ignore since the first time they wound up in bed together two months ago. Judging by the way Chloe is eyeing her now from across the table, it is clear that that urge is absolutely not one-sided.

This evening, this Bellas dinner date, marks the first time the girls have all been together since returning from their tour. With everybody busy with their own, separate lives, it is really not the easiest of tasks to get the group back together, so they have booked a table at one of the city’s more upscale restaurants for the occasion.

The way Chloe is acting, however, the way she is staring at Beca with total and utter lust in her darkened eyes, is the exact opposite of the “upscale” vibe, and Beca is trying her best not to make her physical reactions too obvious.

Beca you’re terrible, just so you know

Fortunately, the second Beca had slipped her phone from her pocket, Chloe had caught onto just who she was about to text, and soon her phone is in her hand, too.

Chloe i have no idea what you mean 😇

How Chloe manages so effortlessly to keep up with the conversation going on around them while texting in her lap, especially given the subtext of their private exchange, is lost on Beca, but she responds with an amused smirk and a quick glance across the table, before setting her phone neatly down in her lap.

It is not like Beca doesn’t want to interact with the others; she misses the girls more than she would actually like to admit, so she makes a point to actively join in with the conversation. It is difficult, however, to continue to ignore Chloe, so when Aubrey, Chloe’s seat neighbor for the evening, stands to excuse herself to the bathroom, Beca takes the opportunity of one less set of prying eyes to reach down into her lap beneath the table, as subtly as possible, and blindly type up another text.

Beca you’re totally picturing me naked, right?

Although face-down, Chloe’s phone rests on the table beside her hand, and Beca wonders why she doesn’t feel the vibration of her text message—or, if she does, why she does not immediately pick it up to check; Chloe’s replies came pretty much instantly before, after all.

Since she is not connected to the restaurant’s WiFi, Beca wonders if there is a signal issue, and peers down into her lap to double check the status of her message. As her eyes scan over the screen, Beca’s heart practically stops.

“Beca?” Emily’s voice breaks through the sudden ringing in her ears, tone laced with concern. “Are you okay? You look like you’ve seen a ghost.”

Quickly sliding back her chair, Beca stands shakily, then frantically nods her head. “Yeah. Yeah, I’m fine,” she lies, worried eyes meeting Chloe’s look of genuine concern. “I just have—Uh, Chlo. Can I see you for a second?” As she speaks, Beca begins to leave the table, head motioning for Chloe to follow. Fortunately, Chloe does not need telling twice, and despite the way the others watch on in confusion, the two are soon making their way toward the restrooms.

“What’s going on?” Chloe asks before Beca even gets to spit out her words.

“Dude, I fucking—I texted Aubrey!”

“And that’s a bad thing?” Chloe asks, her expression confused.

“Yes!” Beca hisses, thumb shaking as she attempts to unlock her phone. “It was meant for you. I asked her if she was picturing—”

The door to the restroom swinging open is what interrupts Beca’s frantic explanation, and she supposes the “what the fuck” expression she is met with from her former Bellas captain is relatively tame, all things considered.

“No, Beca,” Aubrey says in a very deadpan sort of way, “I am not—” she glances at her phone screen, where Beca’s text message is displayed clearly, “picturing you naked.”

“Oh, God,” Beca whines, hands covering her eyes as she dramatically sinks back against the wall.

So far, Chloe has not reacted outwardly, but Aubrey addresses her next with a straightforward, “I suppose this was meant for you?”

“What?”

While Beca blurts her reaction, Aubrey only rolls her eyes. “Cut the crap, Beca.”

“Bec, it’s okay,” Chloe says gently. There is an apologetic look settling onto her features. “I told Aubrey already.”

“Wha—But I thought…”

“I know,” Chloe nods. “I just needed to talk to someone about it all and Aubrey is my best friend. I figured you’d probably talked to Amy about it all, right?”

“No! Dude, we said we weren’t telling people yet,” Beca sputters, pleading eyes darting between both Chloe and Aubrey’s expressions.

“Be glad that she did,” Aubrey frowns. “Had I not known, I would’ve likely handled your text message much differently. Besides, I haven’t told anybody. And I actually think you’re smart to keep it quiet while you figure everything out.” She pauses, eyeing the two. “A word of advice, though…”

Despite her mortification, Beca glances toward Aubrey to show that she is actively listening.

“Next time, be more careful about who you’re sending your text messages to.”

Once more, Beca whines in response.
