So I just found out that Perry from YG Entertainment, the original YG Entertainment prior to BigBang and 2NE1 debut, is missing?!

I remember YEARS ago hearing Danny Im and Masta Wu (it was either that episode or the one with Choice37), talk about how "nobody" knows where he is on Danny's podcast. However, they were so casual and lax that I thought they meant that people from YG Ent had just lost contact with him over the years. I just saw on tiktok that he's MISSING missing. As in, ID channel (not literally on the ID channel), police investigation, even his biological family hasn't interacted with him since 2010 in the LA area. If you search "Perry YG Entertainment" on tiktok there's someone claiming to be a family member who says the part about them missing since 2010.

I have listened to Babymonster's Sheesh so you don't have to.

NMIXX made AESPA sound like Mozart. Babymonster makes NMIXX sound like Vivaldi. It's not a compliment. I understand YG want lightning to strike twice and comparison is the thief of happiness but this is a budget Blackpink cosplay with none of the Teddy/Bekuh hooks, like at all. That was a very interesting choice.

Aespa were smart enough to realise that being BP 2.0 wouldn't cut it and worked on their own group personality. It's not all good but I think they have plenty of redeeming qualities. Prayers for Giselle to step up because her lack of everything is startlingly obvious when she performs with the other three.

IVE never played the same game with their concept or sound, even with the woefully unsuited 'Baddie'. Wonyoung's position as Thee IT Kpop Girlie has not had a worthy challenger for years. Hopefully Starship don't fuck this up but let's be honest, they probably will. Still, I look forward to their comebacks the most.

NewJeans started so strong but I am now losing interest. I'm not their target audience so I can't criticise them for how juvenile Supershy sounded to me. It's nice to see youthful music for a youthful group though and I like that they aren't trying to be mature too fast. It's just hard to vibe sometimes.

NMIXX are just strange. I don't understand them but I do see how talented they are. It's just a shame their skills are wasted on such polarising music. It takes some balls to knowingly deviate from the safe path just for the vision. I have to respect them for that tbh haha. I can see this group really maturing into something great in a few years, if they can keep relevancy. I said the same exact thing about NCT when they came out so maybe there is hope (and despair).

Le Sserrafim are a Jukebox Group. Their last albums sounded like covers of Tyla, Rosalia and Rema. It's very trendy music and I don't fault them for doing that but when I'd rather listen to the original over them? That's not really good. No amount of aesthetically pretty lore videos compensates for their current lacklustre music (and vocals). I feel like we're heading into 'great gowns, beautiful gowns' territory with them.

Now Babymonster. I have not been impressed by them at all. The much-heralded Ahyeon has apparently returned to the group like Lazarus and I was informed she would be Wonyoung's successor but she does not even stand out in her own group. I would not be able to pick her out of a line up. They get full points for effort and I do like Stuck In The Middle but I begrudgingly admit that for these girl crush concepts, Teddy is Teddy for a reason. Choice37 and Jared Lee just don't produce in a very impactful way that I like. Good luck to them but I have no desire to replay any of their songs.

Two fellow YG Entertainment idols were involved!

The date of BABYMONSTER‘s debut, November 27, is getting closer, and YG Entertainment has been slowly releasing more information about the group’s members and their debut song.

A couple of days ago they shared that their debut will be a digital single titled “BATTER UP”, and it was met with mixed reactions from netizens.

Earlier today, though, they shared the many producers and lyricists who have taken part in the creation of “BATTER UP”, and it seems to be making many fans feel more confident that the song could be a good one.

Perhaps most notably, BABYMONSTER’s own Ivy and Asa is included in the credits for lyrics and composing, which is impressive for rookies, especially in a girl group. Fellow YG Entertainment idols Hyunsuk (of TREASURE) and Chanhyuk (of AKMU) also participated in songwriting.

Some fans are probably also familiar with other producers listed, such as WHERE THE NOISE (one of the producers for TREASURE’s “BONA BONA”), Chaz Mishan (who participated in GD X TAEYANG‘s “Good Boy” and BIGBANG‘s “Flower Road”), and BIGTONE (a producer for TREASURE’s “Going Crazy”).

Also included in the credits is YG (Yang Hyun Suk) himself, which is certainly the most controversial name on the list. Though he is one of the lead producers of BABYMONSTER, his numerous scandals and poor image among K-Pop fans has many feeling unsettled by his involvement with the new girl group.

Notably absent from the producers is Teddy, one of the main creators behind BLACKPINK‘s music, and Choice37, who has worked on many YG Entertainment songs and was also involved in BABYMONSTER’s Last Evaluation series.

Choice37 is working with a female producer, she is a non Korean. This woman shared a picture with them in yg entertainment building working in studio together. I guess one of them is the main producer

Oh interesting, i think we are slowly going to a more latin vibe? we already saw it with lesserafim and i saw some other groups trying this influence in some recent releases. Maybe yg is going to try that route

i listened to the baemon track sampler and i can't believe i'm saying this but the best song on there is the one made by charlie puth 😐😭 it seems the teddy equivalent for baemon is choice37. some guy called jared lee is on the credits a lot too, but what i think is the most interesting is that yg has credits in multiple baemon songs. afaik i don't remember him having credits on any bp songs so perhaps his direct involvement is the reason why every baemon song so far sounds like a rehash of another yg artist 🤔

like i said yesterday, we can't blame teddy or tbl for baemon as they aren't involved at all. in fact they're not even at yg anymore. and as much shit as we give to teddy and friends, i have to say i'm way more excited about his upcoming girl group than i am about baemon. not the survival show one but the one with ella gross and the samsung heiress. i saw yesterday that apparently the group is called méovv which is.... interesting.... kpop group names are getting worse lmao 😭 in hindsight tbl had a much stronger influence on bp than yg so even though teddy definitely deserves his lashings, i for sure have way more faith in him creating a good girl group than i do in yg 🤷‍♀️

i just checked it out and agree 😬🥴 the best song seems like the one produced by charlie, mainly bcs it’s the one that sounds a bit more fresh imo ? like u said, the other tracks all remind of past yg releases (and yg’s involvement could definitely explain that)

and AGREE i talk trash about teddy everyday but i have far more expectations for his group than for baemon bcs he was soooo involved in bp so i’m curious to see what kind of group he can make (especially since he doesn’t have yg backing him and giving the group an inherent push in popularity) 🤩 the name meovv sounds…….. questionable to say the least, but lately there have not been many good new group names, so it most likely not be the worst out there 🤷🏻‍♀️ im curious to see if the pinks will interact with the group tho cause ella is like their collective daughter so i could see the girls acting up a bit sfsgshsj

November 15th, 2013, T.O.P released the single: DOOM DADA

T.O.P, born Choi Seung-hyun (최승현) on November 4, 1987. He started out performing in the underground hip hop scene before auditioning to join YG Ent. he did not get accepted on his first try due to his looks, but got in on his second audition. His stage-name TOP was give to him by Seven, and in 2007 he made his official debut in the group BigBang. TOP released his first solo single, ‘’Tun It Up’’, in 2010 and three years later he followed it up with ‘Doom Dada’. The music videos for the two songs mirror each other slightly with them being shot in black and white. TOP wrote the lyrics for ‘Doom Dada’ and Choice37 arranged the music, the song was very influenced by surrealist art and became critically acclaimed.

今日は、アメリカよりオシャレなジャジーヒップホップを奏でるLongevity Crewの2005年の作品よりHandshakes & hellosをご紹介。

時間がある時は会社の資料室に篭り、ネタ探しのためにひたすらCDを聴き続けてるのですが、そんな中で見つけたアーティスト。97年くらいか活動を始めたとされるコリアンアメリカンのChoice 37によってCAで結成されたクルーのようですが、情報がほとんど出てこない。ジャジーな要素が上品に組み込まれてて、とにかくトラックがオシャレ。2005年の作品になりますが、洗練されてるので、2005年という時代を全然感じない。ヒップホップシーンはノーマークなのですが、ジャズになると一気に興味が湧くから不思議。他の作品も気になるけど、全然リリースされてないというね。それにしてもやはりアジアの地が入ると繊細さが増しますな。 温かみとクールさが良い塩梅でミックスされてて春に合いそうなので、是非聞いてみてください。

ok so I thought this over since you sent it yesterday

I do think we might see Zino. Apparently you get banned from mnet if you had a weed/drug scandal though (idk how true that is). However, even if true, i feel like mnet would do whatever if they saw they could make money lol/ That includes letting e-sens, cjamm,, bill stax, or anybody back on lol

But other than Zino, maybe Gray (he's been saying multiple times since last year that he wants to release a solo album this year so I think it'd be good promo to bring him back), Teddy Park OR Choice37. I feel like Choice37 would be A LOT more likely to do it though. Teddy doesn't seem like he likes too much spotlight. BUT Teddy DOES have The Black Label to promote so who knows? Maybe Tablo or Jinusean again. Maybe Epik High as a whole cause they never really had anyone except Tablo. Epik High did release an album last year so I think it'd be great to bring them ALL. Jinusean doesn't seem like they have anything to promote BUT they do have children so maybe they just want more money lol. I also think bringing Mino, B.I., or Bobby would be AWESOME! Mino and Bobby would be good because YG needs the promo right now anyway considering the fact that they lost a bunch of money and their big 3 status this year (SM did too but I don't think anyone is qualified for SMTM rn lol). B.I. is already releasing things so it would be more exposure. FINALLY, I think PSY and/or Jessi would be good. Psy just opened P-nation and it's doing well out the gate. Jessi is under P-nation and SMTM needs a female judge cause it's been A WHILE! Plus, she's REALLY entertaining and has a bunch of stage presence so I think she'd be helpful to the contestants (she was great on HSR1 as a judge).

Other than that, IDK! It's season 10 so they REALLY need to bring out the heavy hitters.
