For day 1 of Chreon Week 2023: Mind on you/working late/"I thought you were someone else."

He can’t believe that only a few hours ago he’d been struggling with his report, alone, pissed off, hungry, and ready to cry. Miserable after a few hours of trying to write up his mission report, Leon receives a late-night surprise in the form of Chris, who's returned from his own mission unexpectedly.

Leon isn’t an idiot. He knows his odds for surviving this aren’t exactly stellar; he’s been fucking impaled, for crying out loud, and there’s two feet of twisted metal sticking out of his back. But Chris—

Chris could still make it.

TerraSave's annual charity ball goes up in flames. Leon S. Kennedy is pretty sure this is not, in fact, the best day he's ever had.

In the aftermath, the smoke starts to dissipate.

The white-hot agony lancing through Leon’s entire body doesn’t. In fact, it only grows, centralized somewhere below his ribs and throbbing with bone-deep, burning pain so potent that his knees feel weak, and he knows there’s no point in even trying to get to his feet.

Breathe, he tells himself, and forces a breath to shudder through his lungs. That hurts, too, and suddenly he feels like a child, swamped by the urge to curl up and cry because it just hurts too much.

But he’s not a child, and he can’t afford to do that.

If he can’t walk, at least he can crawl. Hands and knees. Chris was somewhere behind him—he must be nearby. Did he get caught in the blast? God, hopefully not, but probably so. Leon needs to find him. Hands and knees.

Just a small announcement!

This isn't related to the announcement but I just wanna say we're on Twitter, I thought I mentioned it before but I hadn't, I'll be making this same announcement there sometime after I add the rules and FAQ - Also means the rules here will be updated to please keep that in mind.

Chreonweek will be delayed until (late?) August as we want people to have the opportunity to watch the new movie, Death Island!!! Two reasons why we—I'm doing this:

For people who edit -We understand there might not be enough clips of the two together already existing, and we hope the movie will be helpful with supplying the needed clips.

And if you wish to use some scenes for the prompts set-up. We know that coming up with ideas is hard, and if you wish to branch off from a scene and combine it with a prompt, be my guest!

If your work is inclusive of the movie, make sure to mention it as we want to save people from spoilers - we will elaborate on what to do when we send out prompts.

Prompts will still be released in May, we do try and give everyone at least a month in advance to prepare, you'll be getting two months so have fun and go wild with that extra time. Next year we will be going back to July.

There is another announcement I wish to make but decided to save it if the problem persists. So in advance, sorry for the pissy rant that might be made.

Thank you so much to those who participated this year, It was amazing to host this event so all of you can show off your talent. 🎉 We're still accepting submissions over the due date. So I would like to join in for ChreonWeek, but I’m not entirely too sure what the prompts mean? Are they 3 prompts? Put the two together and have the quotes as what is being said? Or am I over thinking it and you literally just choose one of the three?

All is good, we understand that some things can be tricky at times and our choice of how we set it up is odd compared to others.

Basically, there are three prompts, two general prompts and one quote. You can pick from any of the three or mix them if you are up for a challenge, but generally, people just choose one to work with.
