yknow, i saw you talking about some of the church things in fl, and wanted to ask if you have any thoughts on the monks of st. stalactite, and their relationship to the fl anglican church

i'm going to be honest, my ssea lore is weak, so i don't know quite as much about godfall as i really should. and with the little i do know... i'm not sure. they seem so disconnected from anyone else that their religion has morphed into something completely unlike what it once was. (kinda similar to the starved men, if you think about it.)

if i was a different man i would write a fic detailing the meeting of the abbot-commander and the bishop of southwark, and their theological debate that would, of course, break down into the two of them having a very sexually-charged wrestling match. whilst still debating the nature of christ at each other. but i am not that man.

He can’t picture the other — his only friend in this place, really — out of Moralton, not long term… As much as he wants it to happen. Already he’s grown fiercely attached to the younger boy, and knows that both of them escaping this godforsaken (hah!) hellhole to somewhere, anywhere else, is the best case scenario. “Sinville, whatever, wherever. Somewhere else entirely. I don’t ever want to come back here.”

Does not want himself or Orel to follow in their fathers’ footsteps. Without really recognising his own body moving, William reaches out, seizes the other’s wrist in his fingers. He’s serious, solemn. The graze on his knee stings, and it feels like being watched from the inside out.

“Let’s leave together one day, Orel. You and I. We can go to your grandfather’s farm, and then I can go even further away. I can visit you, from time to time, if you’d let me. But don’t—”

The dark haired boy hesitates, clumsy in his attempt at sincerity.

“Don’t get stuck here. Neither of us. I don’t want you to be Mayor.” And with a half hearted little smile, he adds: “Though with the disasters that follow you, I don’t think many people in their right minds would want you to be the Mayor, whether they like you or not.”
