Had a great time checking out the production of God of Carnage at City Lights Theater in San Jose! I fell in love with the play when a friend had recommended I read it so I’ve been looking forward to this since I found out City Lights was going to put it on. Good day to get a little culture in. After walking the length of @vivacallesj we went to @citylightstheater for the matinee performance of God of Carnage. The production runs under 90 minutes and is performed without an intermission. That’s good because the pace is fast and furious after the rum comes out. Playwright Yasmina Rita (of ART game) gives us a glimpse into the lives of outrageous but believably normal people that you don’t have to have kids to relate to. Intrigued? Well, we suggest getting a ticket and supporting local arts! It’s incredible contemplating just how talented Lin Manuel Miranda is. Thanks to @citylightstheater for creating a fantastic production of the first of his Tony Award winning musical; In the Heights. Before Hamilton set Broadway on fire this show catapulted Mr. Miranda into the national spotlight. City Light’s talented cast transported the packed house to Manhattan and wove a story about dreams, family and people being priced out of their communities. It is a poignant story told by a great group of artists. The two remaining weeks of the run might be sold out but we are assured that wait list tickets are available one hour before the show begins and everyone has been accommodated with seats. “Tell Me A Story!” @citylightstheater is doing just that with Alabama Story a Civil Rights era play about censorship surrounding the true story of State Librarian Emily Wheelock Reed. A secondary story woven into the script offers parallels and insights into the racism of the day. While there is a lot of dialogue the pace is swift and the take away tremendous.
