The Timeless Style Of Audrey Hepburn

Audrey Hepburn: British actress and humanitarian, a wondrous woman with an everlasting legacy who was idolised worldwide for her effortless poise and grace. It is an undeniable fact that Audrey was a true fashion icon of her time - a timeless beauty.

Use of colour allowed Audrey to create outfits that could live forever, outfits that could be stored in time capsules and remain just as wonderful for years to come. She used hues of black, white, and grey most frequently: shades that have stood the test of time and create a sleek and sophisticated feel to an outfit. This neutral palette would be aided by pops of colour, predominantly pastels, scarlet red, and coral pink.

Alongside an aesthetically stunning colour scheme, her outfits would usually feature stripes, floral or checkered patterns. Even so, she maintained a strict one-pattern-per-outfit policy, with every other item of clothing being a solid colour.

Audrey's style was classy and distinguished both on and off the screen. She was the queen of the little black dress, much like her Breakfast At Tiffany's character Holly Gollightly. Pairing slim-cut trousers with black turtlenecks, and white blouses with cinch-waist skirts she would create minimalistic outfits that radiated her balletic nature. Contrasting her feminine pieces, Hepburn also wasn't afraid to break down gendered clothing barriers, wearing blazers, suits and ties as often as she pleased - feminism at its most quintessential.

Audrey always had statement sunglasses within reach, whether they were cat eye or tortoise-shell, they were always sure to add the finishing touches to her outfits. A beige trench coat was her go to jacket of choice; ballet flats or penny loafers were her ever-reliable footwear and she would often adorn her outfits with a simplistic string of pearls and stud earrings.

Chic and stunning - Audrey Hepburn was and always will remain a truly timeless fashion icon.
