The London Clay from @omvedgardens has been quite surprising; It’s thrown well, been a great glaze addition and it’s able to take high temperature firing too. The first image fired to 1260, it’s just started to blister slightly and warp a little but nowhere near what I expected. Although I quite like the metallic purple brown aesthetic realistically that’s a bit too hot and I feel the clay is being pushed further than it wants to go? The clay looks beautiful fired at around 1080, its a lovely rich red terracotta and I think I will fire the pots at that temperature? The second image was fired to 900 which still allows it to just about maintain the shine from burnishing and Terra Sigillata but the resulting pots are a little brittle. #londonclay #wildclay #terracotta #terracottapots #claytest #test #experiment #playwithclay #earth #pot #firing #omvedgardens #earthenware #stoneware #project #iron (at Brockley) https://www.instagram.com/p/CBfGKJDDA84/?igshid=1dmrydr8pr6pr

For Mug Shot Monday...New clay test mugs! I like how they turned out... really love the Oregon Brown from Clay Art in Tacoma (bottom left). The other two are Klamath Yellow from SPS, which turned out with more pinholing than I would have liked... both clays have a very similar final color at cone 6 though. I'm back in Seattle for the week and it was fun to come back to these tests! Thanks for firing @john.ellefson ☺️🔥#pottery #claytest #coffeemug #mugshotmonday (at Florentia Clayworks)
