on the one hand i hate how skyfall’s brief shot of silva’s disfigurement serves as another example of the disabled villain trope, on the other hand silva’s injuries also serve as a metaphorical representation of what happens when you give your all to someone and in doing so become so broken that the person you were giving to no longer wants anything to do with you - in this case those persons being MI6 and mostly M herself

#skyfall #james bond #on a third hand - i love silva #i just think m's death being this self sacrificial lesson in the way that she treated her agents is pretty wild #had she been better at her job or even a better person maybe tiago wouldnt have become silva #the way that she makes james choose between getting the data or attempting to stabilize ronson - then when he comes back he finds out #that ronson died because they couldnt get help there in time and that's another of m's slights #the way that james was forced to listen to M yell at eve to take the shot despite eve not wanting to because she didnt want to hurt james #the way they didnt bother to go after his body and just declared him dead and sold his stuff the way no body went after him the way M #cleared him for duty despite doing so poorly the way that silva and james are exactly the same but not entirely - for queen and country #until you're no longer useful #until you're bleeding out in a hotel room and it's you or someone else #idk ive only seen skyfall so maybe m is better in the other movies but in tihs one she's awful
