In the scp timeline for the pyras there’s generally a few phases they go through and I pick and choose which timeframe I wanna draw.

Phase 1: Meetings

• Vanilla enters the foundation after being caught sleeping in his van in the middle of the woods

• Vanilla is initially uncooperative with all staff and tends to speak Spanish to those who can’t speak it and just stays quiet for those who can

• Eventually his file falls onto Gear’s desk and he’s tasked to interview him, Iceberg joins too. Vanilla is immediately intrigued by Iceberg’s lameness but it’s not romantic feelings atp just general wants for a one night stand.

• Vanilla does his usual schtick but notices that Iceberg can understand him so he teases him subtlety. Iceberg doesn’t know how to speak Spanish and is embarrassed by Vanilla making fun of him.

Phase 2: The other one comes in

• Vanilla’s analysis falls onto Iceberg after Gears noted that Vanilla is only cooperating under Iceberg’s presence and direction.

• Their relationship starts to grow during this time and Vanilla doesn’t mind being contained at this point as Iceberg visits him semi often when he can.

• Vanilla eventually nervously tells Iceberg that he’s got a brother who’s also a reality bender and has been chasing after him for a year now. He also warns Iceberg that he might die too if his brother were to see his first boyfriend is some lame chump.

• Crispin comes in after willingly letting himself get captured and then starts fucking shit up. Recently sober with a grudge for answers and justice for the victims of his brother’s crimes Crispin is extremely short tempered and causes as much damage he can until he can find Vanilla.

• He gets recaptured by Clef and immediately sent to containment with reality anchors keeping him mostly weak. He’s still violent to staff who try to make contact with him and eventually they decide to let him meet Vanilla. Crispin beats Vanilla up but he’s mostly happy he’s not dead or hurt. Vanilla gives Crispin the main rundown and that he’s got a boyfriend which enrages him again.

• Crispin is a lot more difficult to contain as he hates containment and being dehumanized. Multiple attempted breaches leave staff wondering if he’s even worth keeping. Iceberg nearly dies to an angry Crispin who finds out that not only his brother has a boyfriend but it’s one of the staff keeping them locked up.

• After pleads by Vanilla for Iceberg to find a solution to not kill Crispin he suggests Crispin join the MTF ranks and work as an agent. Crispin rejects it initially but then sort of gets forced into it by Clef who’s been dealing with Crispin the whole time. The Pyras barely interact in this timeframe.

Phase 3: Team rocket ass siblings.

• Crispin becomes Agent Sulfur now and it’s reflected in his more feminine appearance. It’s easier to do his job when seduction is a card he can play.

• Crispin has an apartment in the foundation and is still monitored and evaluated but a lot more chill about it since he can see the outside world again.

• Crispin still disapproves of the power imbalance in Vanilla and Iceberg’s relationship but takes it out on Iceberg more.

• After a few missions that needed Vanilla to come out of containment Crispin realizes that he’s going to need Vanilla to be at his side more reliably than (making Iceberg process) paperwork constantly.

• Vanilla is more forced to into his agent job than Crispin was but went through normal training since he’s more compliant and less of a threat reality bender wise.

• Vanilla goes by Agent Calcium or Cal for short. He and Crispin turn into agents of chaos together but manage to get the job done one way or another.

• Vanilla gets out of containment and moves in with Iceberg. They sometimes act like a married couple despite never getting married.

This may sound a bit cheesy, but, with my abundant amount of r99 ocs, do you think that arcanist-Lamont would interact with them and what would that be like? Like a little oc crossover perhaps?

I am going to focus on Pristine. I am also interested in Lady Clef and Verdigris interactions but I would like your input for them since they’re more complex (what if we rp them or discuss their interactions hiii bats my eyes at you). Do let me know if I get OOC and feel free to correct me since you’re the creator of Pristine after all! Also here’s Lamont’s doc for a bigger glimpse on their personality since I finished their voicelines.

Let’s go:

Lamont is incredibly perceptive (and obsessive) in treating things deemed ‘unorderly’ as much as they love setting things out of order. They would notice her cracks first thing they laid their eyes on her. They love mending things they didn’t break as much as they love mending the things they broke themselves. So…

Assuming her cracks couldn’t be healed by Lamont’s prayer healing alone, they would be more than happy to treat her with a more hands-on approach. Of course, only if Pristine allows it. Flesh wounds are the main things they typically have to work with when it comes to treating others’ bodies, so Pristine’s cracks are incredibly interesting for them.

But… If she tries to hide her cracks from everyone else, why wouldn’t she hide it from this creepy practitioner? If anything, she will probably try to avoid them. Especially since Lamont is quite infamous in the for breaking stuff on purpose. Yes, they patch those things up later, almost perfectly. But the things they fixed still had to undergo the displeasure of being broken. So yeah. It’s 100% understandable if anyone tries to distance themselves from this little girlfreakthing.

HOWEVER if she does allow them to treat her and they become friends, then they would actually treat her with care. They know they shouldn’t treat others’ bodies the same way they treat inanimate objects. They recognize that her cracks wouldn’t be an easy fix since she’s not just any ceramic vase. They’ll try various ways; From medications usually used to treat flesh — to a more craftsmanlike approach by using glue or spot epoxy. They’ll do whatever it takes until she’s completely spotless. And if the cracks do occur again, they’d gladly keep doing it over, and over, and over again.

They can be quite a talkative person so they may be a yapper to her unprompted throughout the process. A gentle, meticulous, and curious yapper. They would tell her so many things about their time in boarding school, about their patrons, or some random fun fact. And they would also be genuinely be interested in her own origins.

Lamont is quite the jack of all trades — Great with ceramic arts, tailoring, medicine, and countless other skills they picked up due to their obsession with fixing (and breaking) things. They’d go out of their way to help her discover a hobby if she haven’t found any, teaching her stuff and seeing what sticks. They could be a bad influence if they ever teach her any destructive skills, though.

More things I headcanon if they become buddies:

Lamont teaches Pristine how to summon and make connections with various cosmic entities. For fun. It’s basically a way to get more arcane skills with little need of, you know, actually practicing said arcane skill. Lamont would note that Pristine has a lot of potential due to her almost ‘blank slate’ condition. But an entity would struggle to ‘borrow’ a part of her body since she’s likely not of the same material as the entity (flesh). She won’t end up monstrous like Lamont did.

The fixer becomes the fixed. Lamont got hurt somehow and their healing prayer couldn’t help them this time (they may have angered their patron). It’s Pristine’s turn to help Lamont out. She may try the tricks they used on her before, except for the glue one because of course that wouldn’t work on Lamont’s flesh. Lamont wouldn’t guide her and quit yapping for once since they’re really interested in seeing what she’ll do for them. It’s a rare chance for them to experience some mending on themselves by others, or a chance to see how bad Pristine fucks up and tease her about it.

Lamont picks up some of Pristine’s old english talking mannerisms, meanwhile Pristine picks up some of Lamont’s Indonesian greetings (since that is the only Indonesian words Lamont remembers, outside of the curse words).

Toxic yuri (probably in a platonic/familial way since idk if Pristine is an adult or ace or not) situationship where purposefully orchestrate dangerous situations that’ll ensure Pristine cracking just to spend more time with her. OR Pristine herself gets cracks on purpose, knowing that Lamont would not turn down a chance to tinker with her, even if Lamont knows that she did it to herself. Actually, Lamont may actually be happy about that (😭 WHY ARE THEY SO WEIRD).

Another day at Beacon Primary

13/07/23

I was tasked to handle the Primary 3 students, while my mentor took the seniors. There was around 7/8 of them so it was a small group and I think that helped to cultivate a more fun and effective lesson as I’ve realised over the past weeks that I work better 1 on 1 and in smaller groups compared to a full ensemble. I would always check up on them one by one after teaching something and give 1 on 1 time to all of them when possible.

Tasks

Ensure their ukeleles are in tune

Teach them the chords for ‘Chan Mali Chan’ : C G & D7 (Also teaching some how to read the chord charts provided in the score, attached below)

Teach them theory, following their theory books, topic today was reading the Treble Clef

Short Reflection

When teaching the chords, I noticed some of them really preferred having their chord books open as a reference, I assume it’s because it’s something more familiar compared to the plain B&W score. Thus, maybe just for primary school scores, we can start making the chord diagrams bigger and maybe even have some of the dots in different colours to indicate which fingers on the left hand to use, make it more visually striking ?

When teaching theory, I used the white board to draw out the stave and treble clef, it was my first time teaching how to read the treble clef so it was A BIT SCARY. But I think I managed well, I would call out the students one by one and made sure I got to everyone at least once and ask them to name me each of the notes. If they got it wrong, I would explain how to get to the answer slowly, like counting the ledger lines and working backwards etc.. I also tend to use a more ‘hyper’ and ‘casual’ tone when teaching to maintain their attention to make it less intimidating. And feel like I’m their friend. I think it worked because subsequently, they were always happy to see me and would ask me a lot of questions. In conclusion, I see how being interactive helps SO MUCH when teaching. And also I felt like I discovered a comfortable ‘tone’ and ‘vibe’ that works with this group of students, and will continue using it in the future.

What Might Have Been

This is my FAVORITE Phineas and Ferb song, I remember when whispers about a “Phinbella duet” first started circulating mid-2012 and being SO HYPED (I was so hyped I wrote my own Phinbella duet, lollllll. maybe I’ll post it sometime). I waited literal YEARS for this song and it was VERY WORTH THE WAIT. I love the instrumentation (the strings? the guitar? the drums? the hint of Isabella’s theme at the beginning of the third verse? a A H), the lyrics are just so heartfelt and sweet and poignant (with just a hint of trademark PnF humor thrown in, lol), and the vOCALS GOOD LORD, ALYSON AND VINCENT KILLED IT. And the harmonies at the end. Bless. AYA isn’t perfect but I ADORE “What Might Have Been.” Like, they really gave us a 3 1/2 minute long song of Isabella and Phineas singing about being in love. They did that for us. Sometimes, I listen to it on a loop when I need to focus...or just because I want to listen to it. It’s truly just. The best. Ah. My heart. This song deserves more mainstream attention dANG IT. 

Summer Belongs To You

This song is so uplifting and positive and the beginning is a Phinabella duet of COURSE I love it (i deeefinitely made a lil’ reference to it in a certain simile in chapter 9 of CHFIL, not sure if anyone caught that but writing it made me smile!). It always puts me in a good mood and makes me feel like I can accomplish anything. And it gets bonus points because it features Candace singing about loving her brothers!! SBTY is also one of the episodes that got me interested in the show, so this song holds a special place in my heart. 

City of Love

This song ALSO holds a special place in my heart. Like, it’s so sad but it’s so good. I love Isabella, and I feel for her (and when I first heard this song I could 100% relate to her plight, LOL). This is also the first PnF song I ever downloaded! So it’s very nostalgic and special to me. 

Us Against the Universe

I ADORE THIS SONGGG I ADORE IT SO MUCH OK IT’S JUST EVERYTHINGGG. It makes me feel ALL THE THINGS. It’s very similar to “Summer Belongs To You,” but rather than being rooted in nostalgia, it’s like a reminder that the characters are still as present and united as ever. A couple years ago, I never would’ve thought we’d get to hear the entire cast sing together ever again, so like....this song means the world to me. It’s a great song for 2020. 

The Universe is Against Me

This is ALSO the perfect song for 2020, but in a venting way as opposed to an uplifting way like the previous song. I love the imagery in the lyrics (and like...they’re surprisingly real and raw for Phineas and Ferb) Singing along to it is so cathartic, I could listen to this one on a loop and not get tired of it. 

Happy New Year

THIS SONG DESERVES TO BE ON AN ALBUM. I listen to it every new year; it really captures the feeling of New Year’s Eve and the celebration of starting over (and also. uh. I will forever associate it with Phinabella and lovely Phinabella vibes because of that scene of them dancing together).

Busted

Busted is iconic. Plain and simple. I adore it. Love the harmonies, love the vibe, I’m pretty sure this was the most listened to song on my old iPod, lol. 

Somebody Gimme a Grade

I was (and am...lol) 100% the kid who had to have the best grades they could, so this song speaks to me on an emotional level. I also love the clever wordplay--like, “you wasted all my time learning how to rhyme then left me hangin’ from a treble clef!” is sUCH A GOOD LINE LIKE WHO THOUGHT OF THAT IT’S BRILLIANT. I also love getting to see Baljeet come out of his shell a bit and express himself! 

Happy Evil Love Song

This is one of my go-to songs to play on the ukulele! It’s just so funny and sweet (as long as you don’t think about what happens after it, lol). 

I Really Don’t Hate Christmas

THIS SONG. I LOVE IT. I love that it pokes fun at the “villains hating Christmas” trope while also subverting it! It’s just, so soooooo so great. I have a great time trying to sing it each Christmas season, LOLLLL. (because those are some FAST lyrics. how did Dan do it????)

That Christmas Feelin’

This is one of my favorite Christmas songs ever!!! It really captures the vibe and joy of the season, and I always go out of my way to play it when hanging out with people who might not know it’s from Phineas and Ferb! lol

In The Empire

One of my biggest flexes is being able to sing the entire “It’s sO NOT FAIR....” section of this song, LOLLLL. It’s just such a fun one to sing!!! (or attempt to sing....hah. Ashley has SKILLS.)

Ferb Latin

Ok, this one might seem a little random, but as a musician, I am OBSESSED with how the three melodies intersect and blend together at the end of the song!!! It sounds SO GOOD. (Plus. Phinabella duet. Yes. Are y’all detecting a pattern?)

Aerial Area Rug

So I’ll just go ahead and say PHINABELLA first because this song has MASSIVE Phinabella vibes (I mean it begins with a homage to the “do you trust me?” scene with Phineas and Isabella, that’s like pure-seratonin right there). And this song is also genuinely just so beautiful. It’s sung so well and the instrumentation is gorgeous and the lyrics are so literal but like, they work very well. (and that key change baby, I love a good key change!)

Gitchee Gitchee Goo

Gitchee Gitchee Goo means that I love you! It’s a classic, and super catchy, and totally reminds me of Phinabella even though in the context of canon that isn’t what it’s about at all😅. Also! Candace and Phineas singing and having fun together will always make me smile. I crave wholesome sibling interactions. 

Thank You For Coming Along

THIS SONG MAKES ME FEEL THINGS....I really can’t think of a better send off the show could’ve had. I love how genuine it is, like a love letter to the fans, with all the references and such (I’m a sucker for fourth wall breaks, lol)! And I mean, that Phinabella moment near the end is just MAGNIFIQUE, YES, FOURTH WALL BREAK, PHINABELLA KISS REFERENCES, AND PHINEAS FLIRTING WITH ISABELLA??? WE LOVE TO SEE IT.

and THIS SONG. THIS SONG RIGHT HERE. I can’t think of a better re-introduction to these characters after saying goodbye to them years ago. This song really feels like a warm hug, a welcome home. The music video Disney released for it is especially wonderful because it incorporates scenes from the show!!! I always rock out to this one whenever it comes on. It’s a gift, truly. I love it. why yes! thank you for asking! 😏

lmao this took soooo long my sincere apologies for the wait!

the basics:

so mjn is a string quartet (which is what it says on the tin so idk why this is a whole bullet point)

martin = violin I, douglas = violin II, arthur = violist, carolyn = cellist

herc is a violinist and pianist, the latter for trios and stuff

theresa is a pianist and books them to play at an investiture ceremony

they basically go around playing for people’s weddings and as ambient music for other events (mr birling demands ambient music every year or something like that i haven’t thought that out)

okay now for some ✨details✨

martin and douglas as violinists are the easiest translations from charter airline to string quartet bc they play the same instrument.

the chaos comes from martin being tasked to lead, but being awful at it

to martin’s credit he is very diligent. he knows his parts pretty well, and his melodic interpretation isn’t bad, it’s just that he could be better at. a lot of stuff

douglas is very good at supporting a melody but he is even better at playing the melody, to martin’s general chagrin

but douglas makes a very good second violinist in that he works well with the lower instruments (i mean lower like range not in any hierarchical sense)

he knows how to defer and he is good at it. martin....meh.

also i was a second violinist for my stint as an ensemble musician so i May be biased... 🤭

arthur is a violist

lil rant: i absolutely love violas and i don’t get why people make fun of them or the people who play them !! the viola is a beautiful instrument and in a different life i would have chosen it! also my violin teacher plays the viola and she’s a literal genius and she’s one of my favorite people on this green planet and i would Die For Her !! so keep the viola jokes off my tl !! 😤

arthur: “it’s like a cello and a violin, but mixed together. it’s got a C string, like a cello, but you can put it on your shoulder like a violin! and furthermore, i don’t have to buy an extra seat for it like Mum does whenever we go travel—”

arthur unironically sees the viola, and alto clef for that matter, as a “best of both worlds”/“happy medium” type deal

nobody else quite understands why arthur thinks this way, especially about alto clef, but he is quite good at the viola so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

carolyn is a cellist. this is because she believes in bass clef supremacy.

also the cello is a beautiful instrument and in a different life i would have chosen it so this is kind of self indulgence too

literally what am i talking about? this whole au is the peak of self indulgence.....

carolyn also has played the double bass, not so much nowadays because she cannot fit it into her car

but if a chamber piece calls for it (and i am looking straight at the trout quintet for this) she will play it and she will look absolutely badass while playing it

i’m talking this level of cool. look closely at how the bassist on the left interacts with the celli. and how they all look at each other but i digress so natural! so fluid! i swoon! i first saw this recording in like. 2017 or something. i haven’t recovered

honestly though that video^ gives me so much serotonin i wanna play in an ensemble again :(((((( also someone i won’t name kinda threw shade at that recording once bc it’s not what you’d expect from a string ensemble and i was Ready To Fight

just the things i’ve been loving so far and brain vomits:

* WEelP; guess i was wrong about Branch and Poppy being a thing before this! but that’s okay cuz we got lovesick nervous Branch and that’s just TOO CUTE!! just, AAAAWWW. i love him to death. him stuttering and not been able to tell Poppy he loves her is adorbs <3 and i live for hopelessly-in-love-yet-nervous-Branch. cant wait for them to confess. it’ll be cute. also my boy got friendzone XDD not sure whether to cry or laugh about that. Branch my sweet boy, ouch.

Cooper enjoying Quincy’s lame dad jokes and Essence is SUCH AN ADORABLE SWEET MOM i cant! plus Prince D probs the chillest dude in the entire movie. i love him so much. YES YES YES, FUNK FAMILY! LOVE’ EM. AAAAAHHHH!! 

 i love the funk trolls in general, they’re designs are SO FUN to look at and i have a feeling they’re more in-tune with whatever magic the strings have than the other tribes and i cant wait to see their history. they seem so interesting. love them.

*also- also-also WHY ARENT WE TALKING ABOUT THE WORLD-BUILDING IN THIS MOVIE!!?? is sooooo gooood. from what i’ve seen is extremely creative! so far my favs are the rock land and the funk city.

DUDE, DUDE, DUDE! THE FUNK CITY LOOKS AMAZING!! all those colors and neon lights and curves in the buildings OMG! PLUS they have elevator bubbles. what the ever loving fuck, that’s so cool!! UGH i wish it existed so i could explore the heck out of that place. just wow. i love that it looks like one of those phsycodelic albums but turned into a city and DEAR. GOD. PLEASE. TELL ME THE BROPPY GANG GETS TO EXPLORE THAT PLACE MORE! i love it and i’d love to live there.

now the rock trolls place...it looks like a concert i’d love to be in. im BIG fan of rock (and yes, it still kinda bugs me that they interpret rock as the bad guys but whatamigonnadoaboutit hUh?) AND THE CONCERT PLACE LOOKS AWESOME!! it got lava, explosions, sick guitar solos... my dream concert is what im trying to say. and then Barb - who btw, i ABSOLUTELY love with all my heart. she’s gonna be my third fav in this i can tell (first one’s Branch. i just  love the blueberry okay, then goes Poppy, she’s SO adorable!!) - i’ve seen clips where she like flies acros the audience and im like YES. THAT. is some concert!  rock is awesome. 

AND i love the tiny little details of the world in general, like the waterfall where they have the pop string is not actually water but one of those arts and crafts things and the mountains are piles of blankes, the classic trolls’ wings are in the shape of music notations (bass clef). super creative.loving it.

OOOHHH and the techno trolls!!! they’re design is probably the coolest and while it feels like they’re not going to explore that that much i still love Trollex he looks so sweet and fun. 

* THE SILLY/CUTE NICKNAMES BRANCH AND POPPY HAVE FOR EACH OTHER. AAAAAaaaawwwwww. they really be like that, huh? i still want to know exactly what they say. bc i keep hearing Poppyfer and Branchfer or is it Poppyfur and Branchfur? ah,idk but is adorable! cute couples have equally cute stupid nicknames for each other and i hope i get to hear them use those a bit more. :) it warms my heart.

*BARB BARB BARB you rock queen. i LOVE her. yet another character i’d gladly die for.

* i remember when i first heared about Thrash and i kept imagining this menancing dude who has a tough relationship with his daughter but we got AN OLD SEMI- SENILE HAG, in a wheelchair , who cant even do the universal sign of rock without help...  I LOVE HIM TO BITS!!! i have a mighty need for his relationship with Barb to be a very strong and loving father-daughter relationship bc those things makes me raise from my tumb. 

also, WOW he looks way older than Peppy. (who, btw, IS hE rAcISt? in a very slight way??? the way he talks about other trolls concerns me a bit, especially rock, like “then there are  rock trolls....who are...well...??” im here screaming like “great. say they’re great. rock is great admit it.”)  

i need Thrash and Peppy to have wacky grandpa adventures. maybe while Branch, Poppy and Barb become a dynamic group and buddies. my soul needs it. maybe in Trosllstopia. fingers cross.

*I LOVE RIFF i havent hear him talk but i love me this lanky fool who probably cant see behind that hat. he’s cool.

* Hickory. just Hickory. i didnt knew Sam Rockwell could sing but he does it really well (i may or may have not heared a few songs from the soundtrack). Hickory looks so chill and idk, i love his vibe of dude who knows what’s going on around him and is still level headed about all the shit. i love him. and Branch being jealous of Hickory’s interactions with Poppy. Branch, boy, you dont have to be jealous although is adorable  you already have Poppy’s heart! but fuel the hopeless romantic Branch issues, why dont you, Dreamworks. thanks i appreciate it. so cute. 

and is it me or Hickory’s relationship with Poppy might go into a more big brother/little sister territory (yeah, i couldnt help a bit of screenshot spoilers). i want Hickory and Branch to be friends, both seem level headed in tough situations, idk i just want them to be friends.

*this movie looks like a lot of fun. weird, very weird at times and a bit cringy. but fun nonetheless. probably wont be able to see it in theaters so i’ll have to wait to see it online in hd- bc good movies are seen in full quality, people- but i dont mind spoilers. this fandom has been going crazy with them on instagram to the point where i dont care anymore. so yeah, im excited and i need me some harmless weird silly fun movie like this one.

It’s been a long road...

...getting from there to here. 

“There” was November 2012. I was looking for a different way to interact with the SCP Foundation’s fans. Lo and behold, the word “tumblr” came up. I created a new gmail account, and an account name and decided to start roleplaying.

Anyway, one of the first things that I came to realize was that there was actually fanart of Clef out there. And a lot of that fanart was gay. Really, really fucking gay. At first I was nonplussed. Then I got amused. Then I felt flattered.

I mean, fuck. People out there were doing fanart of my author avatar character, and I was feeling a bit weirded out because he was kissing another guy? What kind of fucked-up ungrateful piece of shit was I being? I immediately decided on my policy: I would like and reblog every single piece of gay Clef fanart I came across. Not because it was necessarily canon. Or because I liked it. But because people had spent time on it, dammit, and my personal feelings didn’t matter. They deserved to get some recognition.

Well.

It’s been six years, and a few things have changed. First of all, I created my sideblog, http://chshrcntclef.tumblr.com/ and used it to store all of that horny artwork to avoid being, as the kids say it “horny on main.” Secondly, the SCP community on tumblr exploded. I met a bunch of interesting new people there. Some of them became friends. Many of them went on to leave the SCP fandom, but they stayed mutuals, and I’ve watched their blogs evolve into different fandoms, some of which I investigated and liked. 

Long story short, it’s been a lot of fun. And now it looks like all of it’s falling apart.

The unique thing about tumblr, the thing that separated it from things like Livejournal, DeviantArt, Twitter, Reddit, etc. was its wide-open community. I started out intending to create a roleplay blog to advertise and interact with the SCP fandom. I ended up introduced to a bunch of works of art I didn’t know existed. I ended up interacting with a bunch of people I have never met IRL and probably never will. Hell, I grew closer with members of the SCP Foundation community that I barely knew before: you know who you are, and you’re a bunch of assholes, and I love you.

And weirdly enough, it all started with gay porn of Dr. Clef.

I’m just gonna lay it on the line: tumblr’s new policy regarding adult content is badly written and badly executed, no matter how good the intentions might be. It punishes the innocent without dealing with the legitimate issues that have caused it so much trouble. The impact to my blog looks like it will be minimal: http://chshrcntclef.tumblr.com/ will certainly be going down, as will a couple of joke blogs and sideblogs. But the userbase that made me keep coming back to this blue hellsite despite all its issues, the stupid, funny, and creative people that I enjoyed hanging out with. . . that userbase is about to be gutted.

And that makes me pretty damn sad.

A day in my life

6:50 am: I’m up! Prayer, Bible reading, and then usually a morning workout 🤸‍♀️ but not today! I’m out the door by 8:50 to go to the post office and dollar store to buy quick eats for the rest of the week, cleaning supplies for the studio, and stuff to make goodie bags for tomorrow’s piano camp recital

9:50 am: back at the studio, making a hot pocket and waiting for the 6-7 year old group of piano camp to arrive!

After their class, the 8-12 year olds arrive. We practice for tomorrow’s performance celebrating their first week of piano lessons! They learned so much in camp and will really impress their audience tomorrow.

12 noon: I meet my cousin for lunch at a new restaurant down town that takes FOREVER so I don’t get to eat my food :( because I take off at 1:00 to start a NEW VIOLIN STUDENT 😁🎻 and he is awesome. He is 8 and super excited and researched on YouTube before his lesson today. We had so much fun 🎉 I love first lessons!! 1:30 my next violin student arrives and then at 2 the piano tuner comes to show my old piano some TLC. My next student cancels so I get to eat my lunch (my cousin brought my plate to go once it was finally ready 😆 and even though the restaurant took forever my food was really good!)

3pm my deluxe guitar group arrives. This is a new lesson format I am testing out this summer. Three students rotate stations between individual lessons, music theory activities, and interactive practice with the iPad. This group has two girls about to enter fifth grade and a middle school boy who plays percussion in band. They are all new to the guitar but are doing really great! Derrick kept working on his A and D chords we learned last week and learned a Beatles song. While he used the Yousician app to work on fretting, the girls learned the open G string on the staff and played songs using the first three open strings. They also used the app Band Blast, watching instructional videos and playing rhythm and pitch games.

At 4pm it’s group voice! We had four elementary age girls in class today. We warmed up our voices, did some solfege work, worked on two new songs, and played a theory game.

At 5 I had a deluxe piano class, following the same format as the guitar class with rotating stations, and at 6 only one of my mariachi students came to class today, so he got an hour private lesson! He’s working on D and A7 chords and playing melodies on the guitar reading staff music. We really drilled treble clef notes today, did some extra theory and ear training, and worked on solfege as well.

Last lesson of the day at 7! Ricky and Brizi are brother and sister. Brizi is a middle schooler in her 2nd year of violin and Ricky is only 7 and started ukulele in September. He’s really caught on to reading notes and playing chords!! They both earned theory medals in February so we spent some time preparing for next year’s theory test as well.

Lessons ended at 8 today! I’ll be in the office a while longer eating my lunch leftovers, taking notes on all of today’s lessons and prepping for the end of tomorrow’s summer camp. If I have energy I’ll squeeze in a workout before bed 💪🏻

Week 8 Gaming music :)

Well. This was an interesting lesson for me, controversial thoughts, however I really do have to thank my parents for not letting me play that many games as a kid. The first reason being, I try to get away camping as often as my calendar allows so there is an innate need of the outdoors for me and secondly, I wouldn’t have practiced my music so much if I did! That’s my opinion piece/rant complete.

Saying that, Rebecca Li did give a really interesting presentation on her research and her experiences with gaming music. With a very interesting research and coursework background, Rebecca did provide some insight into the parallels and differences of video games to classroom environments. We explored bemuse.ninja - a rhythm based learning with parallels to guitar hero or tap tap revenge. This was a fun and interactive learning exercise which touched on her game-based learning aspect of having lives, in retrospect, being able to make mistakes in class. This app acted as a tool for accomodating mistakes and further persevering to correct them.

Revisiting this blog a week later:

I had my private tuition students (piano) and they were having trouble learning notes in treble and bass clef, so I downloaded this cool app called Staffwars which has a quasi space invaders vibe to it.... THE KIDS LOVED IT! It even got me hooked trying to get as high a level as I could. In a comparison with an app like Tenuto, which is a theory test app... This is miles ahead in terms of motivation and engagement.
