A couple more Wurr questions popped into my mind! When the pack leaves the crater, they have a close encounter with the cliffhounds. They also call them cliffhounds and nor just hounds or craterhounds. So, are cliffhounds different from the ones in the crater? I assume they're better at climbing and such, but is there anything else? And when Chief talks to the dogs about war (page 217), there's a small flashback with pictures of terrifying hounds, including one that seems to have a melting mouth (the one on the far left). That one has always fascinated me and I was wondering, how did a mutation like that happen? And does it affect the hound in a way? I know they're just a background character for that flashback, but did you have stuff figured out for them?

The cliffhounds are basically hounds with a job. They are kinda like elite warrior people trained to fight/guard/hunt from young age. While not every one of them is a physical fighter, they all live the job of guarding and defending the borders. They have special status as working directly for the Old Ones.

The dog chief's war flashback is how he specifically remembers it, not necessarily how things actually were in real life. The dude was a teenager, he got traumatized.

The mouth-hound looks kinda like an exaggerated version of Nightclaw, though. She had short segment of her lips on the side of her muzzle fused together. Alternatively holes on cheecks, which is kinda similar.

If you are ever in the mood to draw Wurr characters, could I suggest the Cliffhound(s) that is two dogs with one main body (page 56?). That one was interesting to me. It is okay if you don't want to. I know Wurr feels like work and you are taking a break. Still, I just thought that hound (those hounds) is (are) neat but creepy like a twisted science experiment.

I'm currently sitting in a bus on my way to work, so I can't draw anything for the next 9+ hours, so all I can do right now is just link older stuff. We'll see when I get back home.

And it's not that I don't want anything to do with Wurr. I like the comic! I like its story and characters and I want to get back to working on it. That time when someone asked me to draw Badjaw and Riega was nice, as I quite like those characters. I don't mind getting requests of my own characters, it's nice. Feels like people care, and I like them too.

It's just that every time I post anything Wurr related there's someone ready to guilt trip me, making me feel bad about the comic. They probably attempt to shame me for the break I've been having so they could get me work on it out of guilt, but my brain does not work that way. I only ever connect the guilt and bad feelings to the project itself (I am more than capable of guilting myself, thankyouverymuch). What I need is to feel excited about the comic. I want to feel good enough to ignore the bad feelings, but the more I get the bad stuff thrown at me every single time I as much as sneeze some fun background character doodless, it gets harder.

If you really want me to do more Wurr, get me excited. Trick my executive dysfunction riddled brain into feeling good about the story/world/characters/whatever. I do not know how to do that myself, specially now that we're still having a pandemic, and I can't go to a cafe or a library to draw to get out of my head. I want to escape my brain stuck in a bad loop, but I can't do that while I'm stuck sitting on my sofa. It was fun when I had the page drawing streak a year ago (before my computer borked itself and cut my streak off)

I can't hype myself when I'm alone, and I can't really brainstorm either. I have a physically demanding full time day job that dominates my life, only leaving me with three, maybe four hours of "leisure" time I might get to use for drawing each day, and I'd like to use those precious few hours in things that feel good and help me rest/recharge. And right now a demanding comic work doesn't feel like it.

So basically the Walking Twin is like. Big Sexy, on account of her Very Standard Anatomy, and that's why she's got so many kids, to spread those un-mutated genes?

I usually think of it more like "she got married and had kids, and didn't have to be extra afraid of dying because of it".

I don't know how many kids she has, as it wasn't relevant to the story to know, but at least some of the cliffhound pack we see are hers.

What's the difference between cliffhounds and gateguards?

Gateguards are trained guardians who look after their given point of the Border Mountains, usually in pairs or small teams, or sometimes alone if they wish so.Cliffhounds are a packs born and raised to be elite warriors. They are highly mobile, and will be assigned to different parts of the Border Mountains to answer to higher levels of threat.Usually the Border Mountains are pretty peaceful, seeing as hounds and dogs both fear the other side, and do what they can to avoid crossing them. While gateguards are highly capable fighters hand picked for the job, they are just guards. They chase off any single offenders or small groups, but can't really stop bigger invasions from happening, which is where the cliff hounds come in. They move in entire packs, and can be relocated to wherever they're needed the most.
