After knowing and living alongside the Arcobaleno for nearly thirty years, Skull could say he was fairly accustomed to their brand of chaos: Reborn’s violent unpredictability, Verde’s sci-fi mad scientist antics, Lal and Colonello’s military nonsense, and the creeping, stalkerish presence shared (and hotly contested) by Viper and Reborn. And of course, there was Fon—the annoyingly calm, smiling kung fu master who acted like some pretty Mr. Miyagi knockoff.
So when Viper—Mammon now—chose to invade his room by phasing through the wall instead of using the damn door, Mist Flames flaring like some ghost in a horror game jump scare, Skull didn’t even blink.
Mammon just stood there, glaring at the demigod without saying a word.
Skull didn’t look up. The Cloud was sitting on the floor, legs stretched out, humming to himself as he balanced a spoon on his nose.
Mammon's eyes flicked over him, unimpressed. “Delphi Strawberry Service.”
The spoon clattered to the floor.
“Huh?” Skull blinked. “Are we talking smoothies now? Because I could go for something fruity—”
“You’ve been traced to it,” Mammon cut in. “Private land, upstate New York. Either it’s the world’s worst farm
or it’s a front for something. Maybe a training site.”
Skull gave a long, dramatic gasp. “Oh no! A front? You think I was part of a fruit smuggling ring? The truth comes out!”
Mammon didn’t react. “It gets weirder. That area? Stories cling to it. Disappearances. Unusual weather." The miser's tone was dry. "No delivery routes. No employees. A few locals said something about a summer camp for children. Nothing but rumors.”
Skull picked up the spoon and examined it like it had betrayed him.
"You followed me," he said lightly. "Not cool, senpai. Kinda stalker-y."
Mammon's eyes narrowed beneath the hood. The green frog on their head was twitching subtly, its wide eyes unblinking. “I had searched for 'Skull de Mort' before. I’ve gone over every database. Every report. No birth certificate. No real name. No civilian data or medical files. Like you didn’t exist before the Harven's Circus.”
Skull said nothing, but his body stilled just a little.
"Until I found a lead to Montauk, at the end of Long Island. To strawberry fields. Most of the information about it inexistent." The informant floated closer. “But I found a few names listed under this 'Delphi Services's registry. One matches your timeline: Perseus Jackson.”
A long pause.
Then Skull chuckled. “Wow. That’s dramatic. Bet you would make a great evil spy. You know. Like those James Bond's villains...”
“Perseus Jackson. American. Born Manhattan, New York, in August 18th. No named father." Mammon cut him off. "An old missing persons report, a string of school expulsions, was once a suspect of his mother's disappearance and had one too many witnesses claiming the boy blew up a train at age twelve. No phone numbers, no digital footprint, no online presence."
The Varia officer had his own theories about this "unknown" father. Sally Jackson had no Greek heritage—they had checked. Yet the Mist had often caught Skull murmuring in the language fluently, with no records of ever having taken a language class in college. Mammon could understand it easily, it was one of the many languages he knew, even more than the seven required for a member of the Varia.
Even then, Greek wasn't a common choice. In Europe perhaps. Not in New York. Not in the suburbs.
He’d considered the obvious: the mysterious father was Greek.
Most likely? A wealthy man. A politician, maybe. Or even minor nobility. Married. Powerful enough to cover up an affair. Too proud—or too careful—to claim the child without burning his public image.
The Mist continued. "Vanished after his fiancĂ©e — the renowned architect Annabeth Chase — died under mysterious circumstances. Officially, no cause of death. Just... gone.”
“Sounds messy.” Skull stretched his arms behind his head. “Bet whoever he was, he’s fish food now.”
Mammon's voice lowered. “He isn’t. Because he’s standing in front of me.”
Silence.
The Cloud huffed, before slouching dramatically on the egde of the chair, tiny legs swinging like a bored child. The skull helmet obscured most of his expression, but not the smirk.
"Oof,” the stuntman winced. “That's fair, you're the 'Greatest Information Broker' in Mafia, aren't you senpai?" He pouted. "I knew I should’ve paid that one guy to make me a cooler backstory.”
Mammon's eyes narrowed at the non-answer.
It still didn’t explain everything. Skull’s partial Greek background was one mystery solved—but that didn’t clear up the whispers surrounding the strawberry farm.
At first, Mammon had assumed Mafia. A shadow front operation. Maybe even human experimentation like the Estraneo, disguised as “child summer camp.” Mist Flames could hide plenty. But the deeper he dug, the less it all added up. No financial trail. No predictable hierarchy. No alliance or relation to other known American organization.
Skull tilted his head, eyes crinkling.“I hear strawberries are good for the heart. Maybe I just like gardening.”
Mammon's silence was louder than any accusation.
Skull just hummed. Looks like the cat's out of the bag now. His fellow Arcobaleno had done his homework well—flattering, in a way. Sometimes he forgot Camp Half-Blood still kept up the legal front of a strawberry farm. He wondered how much it had changed since then.
The Mist Arcobaleno's eyes were steady, voice deceptively light. “What happened to Percy Jackson?”
Skull tilted his head, confused smile plastered on like theater makeup. “What do you mean?
“You know what I mean,” Mammon went on, irritation simmering in his tone. “young man who vanished after his fiancĂ©e died under mysterious circumstances. Left behind a history of bizarre incidents and just so happened to be connected to a 'strawberry farm' that doubles as a summer camp with surprising tigh security perimeter and little to no paper trails or witness. Joined the circus as a stuntman and later became part of the Strongest Seven.”
“You made it sound romantic. You should write a novel.” Skull said, shrugging. “Maybe he ran off to find himself.”
“Maybe,” Mammon murmured. His eyes narrowed just slightly. “He also knows Greek. Fluently. Not something you pick up at a public school in New York. You never took any language classes in college either.”
Skull let out a laugh. “I barely passed English, senpai. Greek? You give me too much credit.”
A beat of silence.
Then Mammon said, low and clean, "XĂ©ro polĂœ kalĂĄ Ăłti eĂsai ilĂthios, lakĂ©."
Without thinking, Skull rolled his eyes and smirked. “EĂnai kalĂœtera na eĂsai anĂłitos parĂĄ Ă©na kĂĄtharma me emmonĂ me ta chrĂmata."
The smirk froze.
Ah.
Got him.
