personal theory on how the wttt verse works in terms of states

cw: i do mention some policy/politics as a referential thing because this is a satirical series about american politics so these issues appear within the series.

i think states represent

their people

their policy

their environment

(there's more focus on the first two definitely however the last one is also relevant. i also like mentioning this because it allows for good fic content, frankly.)

and then the relevancy of this changes depending on whats going on. when a state reflects one of these very strongly and cannot represent another, then you get manifestations of that. alternatively, enough division within the state and you get things like new jersey (watch his intro episode) and texas (cmon gang we all know im talking about austin). you can also see regional differences if they're stark enough (nocal and socal).

because texas is, within canon, implied to have did and non healthy multiplicity ("i feel like i saw this on Moonknight"), my next point is that depending on how geniunely major a difference is and how poorly one of the things is being represented by the state, the more intrusive whatever is going on becomes. so while most of the gang is generally..... kind of... fine... texas, as a state that is a swing state but still making big discriminatory policy represents the policy well, and the rights and needs of the people less so, meaning that instead of the mostly functional/positive multiplicity seen throughout the series starts becoming less functional altogether.

the government also represents people, policy and a little bit of environment. it/he also represents the system and its needs/wants; such as explicitly benefitting from the industrial military complex over in america, or with the democratic party utilising big issues as part of a campaign (re, overturning roe v wade).

states also probably have some kind of magic to them; they're manifestations who are older than the states as they are part of the US, and we know that loui definitely got something going on there. mother nature tries to get florida and when she misses, both texas and louisiana are soaked from afar, again, representing environment, but also magic is an abstract property which is perfectly realistic in thsi universe. the government does the statehouse; which is a house which externally appears to be normal and holds over 50 rooms and somehow was not destroyed already. this is all to say, the idea of states being able to manifest shit is not beyond canon. go nuts. show nuts, even

I haven't been able to get the chance to read the multiple ending story book but I have read the other two books, and it's pretty obvious that the best one for me is Journal 3, especially that backlight edition!

What I didn't expect to be my favorite merchandise would be the soon to be released Gravity Falls vinyl containing Dipper singing his theme song and Disco Girl... man I can't wait for the other songs in the vinyl to be revealed 👀

OKAY. so i feel like the whole amy/laurie vs jo/laurie debate has been widely discussed (both on The Internet and in my household lol) but for me it's less that i think he should've ended up w jo and more that i think acting like a/l truly love each other and totally definitely make sense is so stupid. it's soooo stupid laura i am rolling my eyes!! can you see me!!!

and the reason i think this! is because, essentially, Alcott uses the four sisters to like ... represent the few limited life paths that were avail to non-wealthy american women in the 19th century, right?

like meg marries the man who is able (if only just) to provide her a stable home. beth pursues her music (piano? if im remembering right) and is content to live her life at home, with her family. amy wants to (and eventually does) marry a wealthy, cultured man of ~Society who can give her a life above the one she was born into.

jo is the wildcard, ofc. the one who goes off-script for the normal young woman, and ofc who alcott views as a reflection of herself. we know that alcott wanted jo to remain unmarried and was strong-armed by publishers to put her w someone, but if she knew she'd have to, then my only explanation for it to not be laurie was to spite the predictable narrative and spite the readers lol.

the guy jo does end up w is so random and just .. makes no sense. if you're making sense of it, you are having to reach so far up your ass to do so! sorry to be crass!!! (rlly leaning into my hater-moment oops)

anyway - the way this connects to amy and laurie is this:

i do not believe (and i'm sure we are not meant to believe) that meg married for love. beth (</3) did not marry ofc. and it's impossible to believe jo married for love if the author intended her to be unmarried. that storyline doesn't exist to me now.

and amy is the sister that is represented as a bit vain; a bit entitled and spoiled in the way youngest children are allowed to be. from the start, it's clear she plans to marry for wealth. even if we're taking from gerwig's adaptation instead of solely the book, then amy still isn't really represented as particularly romantic (the whole 'i'm not a poet' scene) (also tbf it's been awhile since i read the book, but imo she romanticizes her life, yes, but not love itself).

LAURIE is the romantic, the most so, out of all the characters. i genuinely feel like this is the ONLY reason ppl latch onto amy/laurie and try so hard to rationalize it .. bc they can't bear to think of laurie in a marriage that was w his next-best-option rather than True Love (sorry.. by no means a dig at amy...but cmon guys ..)

because i also feel like the only thing laurie really wanted even more than to spend his life w jo, is to be apart of the march family. it was always clear he wanted that, just as it was always clear he loved jo from day 1! and so the only conclusion i was ever able to come from all this is that he loved jo for being jo and he loved amy for being a march sister.

gameplay looks really good??? yay

in loooove with the build/buy, especially the colored glass in the doors... guess what's immediately going in my moomins build...!

world looks... pretty but empty. Kind of a shame especially after doing such a great job with the Japanese aesthetic in Snowy Escape. This one's supposed to be Thai and it's definitely there but mostly only in the decor, it looks like. Western-themed worlds can get away with being shallow because other packs all buoy them, but non-Western themed worlds generally have to pull the full weight of delivering a culture on their own. They really did a good job on Mt Komorebi, but it seems like that was an exception.

so happy to have a kettle that can make more than one type of drink!!!! minus points for being a modern one. i don't mind its electronic but why does it have to look so trendy. (of course its almost exactly like the one i have at home...) how am i gonna fit it in my rustic builds x'D please just make one of the nonfunctional kettles functional in the same way... BTW plumbella was horrified that americans microwave water to make tea. I mean sure when I was in college and the microwave was easier and faster than the stove. BABY MOM’s IN OUR COMMUNITY: 🤰🏽🤰🏾🤰🏿

I really do think it needs to be talked about. How in the African American community becoming a baby mother is just the norm. I love queen Choima’s video on the topic because it highlights an issue that is very real but rarely ever discussed because some people might become offended.

Part of the problem is, not many of these women have much going on in their PERSONAL LIVES! They’re not in school, focusing on their careers, buying a home, moving out, buying a new car, etc. when you have goals and passions in life you are more conscious of the fact that laying down with a man and accidentally getting pregnant will halt or just entirely RUIN most of the plans you had for yourself. You shouldn’t ever sell yourself short just because you were bored or didn’t plan into the future.

Another large issue is that the men won’t marry these women. I’m not sure why, but in cases where the men and women live together, the man NEVER married the woman and I’m not sure why. The men these women are getting pregnant by aren’t traditional, ready for marriage or to be a father, and so the two just live together. Another component of this problem is that the men these women are choosing to date as their boyfriends don’t have it together in the first place either! Half the time the men can’t even support a family or themselves, so it makes sense as to why they’re not proposing marriage to these women. They know they can’t take on that level of responsibility.

It’s such a shame that baby mother culture is so prominent in our community. Like it kills me it does! I went to high school with so many smart young girls and many of them have become mothers without being married. And the saddest part is, all the ones who got pregnant young and were with their boyfriends got married by their boyfriends are WHITE or non black! Like cmon!

It’s just irresponsible and stupid to keep laying down with people you either don’t like, do like but aren’t willing to become better for and marry and keep raising children in those dysfunctional situations. These people are BOTH, not thinking about the long term outcomes of their decisions and aren’t considering their own potential futures without kids. This is a mess! And then the BW wonder why the image is what it is right now.

(And no im not saying marriage saves all. It doesn’t. But family planning and thinking about your choices before they happen is much smarter, safer and leads to less dysfunction and foolishness down the line. Yes divorce is a mess, but that’s a topic for another day. At least the two got married to begin with.)
