So the trailer is out and yes, I still want the Enchanted by Nature pack. Buuut...
- disappointingly, tho unsurprisingly, it does not feel large enough to warrant an expansion over a game pack. There is more gameplay to be revealed, so maybe I'll change my mind... But following the pattern till now, seems unlikely lol
- it feels way more like another Cottage Living pack even more than I expected. For my play style I'm not mad, but I am uncertain how much it will actually develop outdoorsy gameplay, especially since what we've seen is no different than stuff we already have, like illnesses and repetitive missions.
- of course I'm excited about sleeping on the ground at last and bathing in lakes. I do want it confirmed that all worlds will be updated too tho. I expect sleeping on the ground will be, but maybe not bathing in natural bodies of water.
- foraging looks do disappointing. I hope there's more to it it but atm it seems exactly like digging rocks and searching logs.... But without those visuals. Everything is just invisible. And they didn't show any *new* items that can be foraged... The Sim in the trailer duh up base game stuff. I was hoping for visuals of what could be foraged where and new stuff like berry bushes and tree sap.
So yeah not as hyped as I was. Hope that changes but...
This is why I was not hoping for fairies. While the pack might not have made any more effort at the other stuff without them, fairies turn a cool live a wild life pack into a bland Tinkerbell fantasy. If the fairies were more create that'd be one thing, but they seem bland.

I bought Moomin 80th anniversary pajamas from Uniqlo:
Tumblr media
(photo from uniqlo site)
aaaaand it's unexpectedly the BEST pjs I own?!?!?! Lit I was shaming myself for making another selfish Moomin-related purchase x'D then I tried them on... OMG so comfy. So lightweight and soft. Nowhere too tight or too loose. It's immediately my favorite PJs.
(Technically it's a lounge set? I'm not actually sure if you're supposed to sleep in them but they're soooo comfy why wouldn't you! anyway I'd never wear this outside the house so :P)
I am... likely.... going back to get another set... >______>

Warning transphobia and Islamophobia courtesy of (who else) my dad!
So here's what he shared TODAY (um, I mean, here are two of the 100 posts he shared that particularly made me want to eat my own hat...)
Tumblr media
In case you were wondering how out of touch my dad is. He thinks guys wearing MAGA hats experience violence more than trans women. IN WHAT WORLD DAMMIT. Literallyit's a post denying transphobia is also intentionally transphobic... what the actual fuck
Tumblr media
2. American culture is "back" because Sharia law got banned somewhere x'D don't even know if this is true but given that THERE IS NO SHARIA LAW IN THE USA good job. like. x'D no no no I'm sooooo impressed. I mean, it might be more useful if you managed to free the oppressed women in Afghanistan... but they're Muslims so MAGA doesn't care :) but they'll take credit for protecting people who are not actually under any threat juuuuust fine!

From the creators of Snufkin: Melody of Moominvalley comes a heartwarming new adventure inspired by the beloved Moomin stories by Tove Jansson. This time, join Moomintroll himself on a charming but cold winter journey.
When Moomintroll unexpectedly wakes up early from his winter hibernation, he finds himself completely alone for the first time, in a world he barely recognizes. The familiar landscape of Moominvalley is now cloaked in the frosty veil of the Lady of the Cold. Initially seeking someone to care for him and longing to banish winter, young Moomintroll reluctantly embarks on a journey into the unknown, learning to forge new friendships and help those in greater need than himself.
Moomintroll: Winter's Warmth is a story-driven, cozy puzzle adventure that lets you return to the enchanting Moominvalley through the creative lens of the award-winning indie studio Hyper Games. While not a direct sequel to Snufkin: Melody of Moominvalley, it is a spiritual successor with many similarities. You can enjoy both games on their own, and in any order you鈥檇 like.

You'll hear an argument against feminism from conservatives, traditionalists, etc, that in the name of "female liberation," society turned right around and started shaming women who don't choose to work. They may have a personal experience where they or someone they know was a stay at home mom, and someone accused them of setting women back 50 years. Or maybe they want to be that stay at home mom, but feel like they can't because it's so difficult these days to get by on a single income.
Then you have women like me, who work, but in traditionally female fields. I'm not just in education, I've been in pre-k/early learning for almost ten years. I love it. But guess what I hear from the anti-feminist conservatives in my life? "Well, look, you chose a traditionally female career path. That shows that it's what women really want and feminism was all a lie." To them, unless I became a CEO making seven figures, I don't "really" believe in feminism.
That's why to some of us, "women belong in the home," is a threat. And when the women who make home their main priority hear that, they also hear "I am a threat to them." And they think "Then they must be a threat to me."
In reality, the stay at home mom is not a threat to me, and I am not a threat to her, and a female CEO making seven figures is not a threat to either of us. What is a threat is the way we all feel pitted against each other. That's intentional. Patriarchy wants us at each other's throats. It makes it easier to weaponize the mere existence of SAHMs and even preschool teachers to force all women into a teeny tiny corral that conservatives have decided is where we're meant to be.
There are women who have started their own businesses, who are college professors, who trudge around the jungle waist-deep in mud to examine bugs, who report on genocide in the midst of warfare.
They have to be preschool teachers or stay-at-home moms because some women want that?
Why do men like Ben Shapiro and Matt Walsh ignore the contributions of these hard-working women? Contributions they would not fail to ignore if they were done by men. Why do they think that a woman who is tough as nails and puts in the time and effort to be the best she can be should give up on her dream of leveling up in the armed forces, and instead stay home and make babies? It took that woman triple the effort it took a man to reach that point, but instead of "Good job, you worked really hard and deserve this," that woman is told, "Why did you even try?"
The fact is conservatives don't value women's dreams and ambitions. You could argue they don't value men's dreams and ambitions either - I'd agree with you, they definitely don't. It's just that regardless, in a conservative society men still have some ability to chase those dreams, while everything but motherhood and maybe teaching is closed off to women. (Unless, of course, you're poor. Then you can work the laundry mangler!)
Conservatives see men and women as a parts in a machine each with their separate function. Women wanting to be something other than stay at home moms is like a screw saying it wants to be a nail. You might be able to hammer it into place, but it won't fit properly, and you'll be short of screws.
But joke's on them - people are not parts in a machine! People are people! And society is a barely functional attempt to make order out of chaos. That chaos is the cause of a lot of disaster, but it's also what makes us human. And it cannot be defeated. OR EVEN CONTROLLED. There is no society on earth that is perfectly homogenous with a perfectly sensible culture that never contradicts itself. Fucking hell, Christianity is FULL of contradictions, you weirdos.
You can make all the laws you like, but trans men and women are still going to exist. Gay people are still going to exist. And women are still going to dream. And MEN are going to dream. And it is WRONG and FARCICAL as demonstrated by ALL OF HISTORY to put restrictions on people. We all get one life and one life only. All men and all women and all people all over the world should be allowed to make the most of that one life and the goal of politics should be enabling that first and foremost. Don't tell me you "love your country" if you have to force your countrymen into neat little boxes first.

(warning: politics & misogyny & related)
My dad has finally crossed the line.
Since he's swallowed every single MAGA conspiracy and talking point so far - every single one - I thought it was only a matter of time before he swallowed other manosphere garbage too. But I didn't want that because I wouldn't know what to do if that were the case.
When I was a teenager my dad walked in on a converation between my mom and me. Neither of us were feminists in any particular way. I grew up in a conservative evangelical family. I was only beginning to shed the lies that had instilled in me about homosexuality at the time. But a general cultural acceptance of women's rights meant that I did believe women should have a choice about whether they worked or stayed home, and that women are capable of great things which we were barred from in the past by patriarchal rules.
Both my mom and dad grew up in the flower power movement and were liberal democrats when they were young. My dad's sister was at Woodstock. But my dad became intensely conservative after he had kids, and my mom followed suit. She used to me tell me "Your dad is the head of the family, he makes the decisions." My mom probably would have become super feminist if she'd had the opportunity. But she wound up the caretaker of her family at a young age, having had an (in my opinion) abusive and neglectful mother, and she learned to be people-pleaser.
When my dad came down as hard as he did about his views, her nature gave in. Recently she even told me that before she met my dad, she'd been a confident driver. After all, this was her home state, she knew its roads well. My dad, an out-of-towner, berated her so heavily for her "poor driving" that she began to believe him. She only realized that he was wrong after the divorce, and she was on her own to get around 100% of the time.
By the way, my dad has totalled SO MANY CARS. At one point he went through one car a year. We weren't exactly LOADED y'all. We were barely clinging to middle class. Also at the time my dad wasn't even working, my mom though was working 12+ hour days to make ends meet!!
So that's the relevant backstory. I was not raised with a feminist perspective and it's only because of the success of the feminist movement culturally that I had any sense of my potential beyond motherhood at all. So my dad walks on this conversation my mom and I are having about women's roles in America, and it can't have been too terribly radical for the reasons given above. He listens for 30 seconds, then declares, "Women are NOT oppressed," and leaves.
Didn't even stay to debate it. Or explain his reasoning.
He just made his statement, took our shocked silence for submission, and went on back to his man cave.
Obviously at the time I was just confused, not really offended or anything. Since then, as I've learned and grown as a person, I've thought back on it often and wondered what that moment meant. But he's my dad, and he never told me that I shouldn't follow my dreams or demanded that I start making babies. I chalked it up to him knowing that women deserve the rights we had to fight for, but like many men, refusing to acknowledge that having to fight for something means there was an oppressive system. A lot of Boomer men seem to think oppression only happens when the oppressor hates the victim. That is just not true. If it were true, people wouldn't have done so much mental gymnastics to justify slavery including gems such as "We're doing them a favor by feeding them and housing them, they're too incompetent to do it themselves!" and "We're giving them Christianity and saving their eternal souls!"
Oppressors ALWAYS view themselves as the angel in the oppressive system. That is why discriminatory practices are so dangerous even if they're "justified." Because the justification is just a veil for hate to make itself look pretty so "good" people don't have to think they might in fact be "bad" people.
Fast forward to today, and my dad has finally, FINALLY posted an anti-women's rights posts on Facebook. It's not super shocking. Tame in the long run. It's a picture of a nuclear family unit (the mother is weirdly dressed kinda skimpily??) lovingly hugging, with the text "Imagine how much propaganda it took to convince women that THIS is oppression" printed above. Obviously sexist as hell. He's posted misogynistic shit before, like the Kamala Harris slept her way to the top, and other gross insults at female politicians and similar. But when I pointed those out to him, he argued that it's part of the political game, it's trash-talking, it doesn't mean anything bigger than that, he trashes male politicians too (though I don't think I've ever seen him post anything sexual about them). So this is actually new: he's posted something that cannot be defended as trash talk, it is just straight up sexism.
My dad is also, of course, repeating the idiotic republican rants about trans women in sports, and quoting daily, "only weak men play against women" etc. A lot, in fact, MOST, of these posts are absolutely blinding in how self-righteous they are. Republicans are PROTECTING us weak cis women from the evil trans womens! Republicans are our SAVIORS! Republicans LOVE women and RESPECT them and KNOW WHAT A WOMAN IS! In other words, my dad thinks he's pro-woman.
(He's also pro-life. Aaaaand in his twenties, he had an affair with a married woman, got her pregnant, and let her abort... Rules for thee but not for me)
So I'm currently losing my fucking mind because it's one week till Father's Day and I was just about to mail my dad's card and now I reall really really don't want to. This is just one too many strikes. I am not even angry. Just disappointed to the bottom of my soul. Even though I knew it was coming. All the signs pointed to this outcome, but I tried really really hard not to see it.
My brother who is queer wrote my dad off years ago because of his homophobia. That hit too close for home to him. This hits too close to home for me. I don't know what to do. I hate the idea of cutting off my dad. He's in his mid 70s. There won't be much time for reconciliation. But I also can't just pretend this is not happening.
I could call him out on it, but if I did, that would lead to having to talk about politics in general with him. My dad can never stay on topic especially if he's uncomfortable. The reason I imposed a moratorium on politics was because it was the only way he and I could have a relationship without me losing my mind. I have ignored all of his shit on Facebook since Trump's reelection. He has broken it, sending me things three or four times, so I then stated as firmly as I could that while he can do whatever he wants on his own page, political talk directed specifically at ME was NOT welcome. He hasn't pushed me since, even though I'm also posting a lot of politics that he'd find provoking.
So I don't really want to be the one to break that moratorium either. And also I need to consider the fact that, if I do try to talk to him about these things, he won't listen. It's not a question. He won't. I tried it in Trump's first term. My dad would not engage. I gave opinions, facts, sources, as respectfully as I could, and every time, EVERY time, he responding with screaming about how "dems are ruining the country" and "the world is collapsing" and "it's the end times." He NEVER respected with facts of his own. He attacked friends who responded to my posts back then with agreement - college friends of mine he'd never even met. My mom and I both got PMs from people saying my dad was kinda sorta harassing them and saying they were not sure how to handle it because they didn't want us to get caught up in the fall out.
It's insane. I don't know what to do. I hate the manosphere. To every bro who's ever harassed me for being female, online and off, you're all scum.

I just watched satchonsims's video about the new pack and the minute I heard the new world is called "Innisgreen" I immediately thought "Ireland"
you know... because of the isle of innisfree?
also because of the gnomes. Cultures worldwide have their own variations of supernatural or magical creatures. But they are all obviously different in the details. The whole vibe of sims gnomes is more that of pixies and elves than youkai - Western, Irish/Scottish/Celtic etc.
Without "Innisgreen," I might have thought the pack could possibly be featuring a non-European world... but the name does me in. I could be wrong, but to me it's got to be Ireland.
I'M excited, but I definitely get people's disappointment. We have a lot of European worlds already and a dearth of the entire rest of the globe.
Also Cottage Living is my favorite pack, so my hope is that pack builds on it and makes all the rustic outdoor nature aesthetic stuff I love best in sims more fun and fresh. But of course a lot of people would prefer something entirely different to more of the same. Luckily for ME it's more of the same that I already love. But if for example it were another City Living-style pack, I'd def be like "hey we already have enough of this!" And City Living came out long before Cottage Living.
...... I know I've been burned so much in the past...... I shouldn't get my hopes up............................. but this pack genuinely sounds MADE for me. Like someone read all my ridiculous sims-related rants here and made me personally a pack with nature, outdoor living, foraging, and a touch of magic. Satch even pointed out how much this sounds like an Outdoor Retreat revamp. Which as you know was my fav pack before Cottage Living, but it's ooooooold now, literally the first DLC for the game, and you can't even live in the world it comes with. I WANT MOOOOORE.
Aaaah. Fizz stop imagining the possibilities. Keep the standards low low lowwwww
I do have one fear: that the "living outdoors" theme will be so extreme that it won't even be possible to build houses in Innisgreen, and it will be an open, explorable world without private lots. That could be fun......... but I love building!!!
even tho i then abandon the builds and camp in random spots instead lol......

Loyalty to Trump is one of the most bizarre human conditions imaginable.
Suppose the (extremely obvious) corruption of his administration actually becomes so apparent that only the most delusional can't see it. Who's going to take the fall?
First it'll be the little guys. Reporters and various staff members that the upper echelons can blame for their screw ups. It's already happened: I just read about a ousted OAN reporter, and Signalgate was also blamed on an underling lol.
But say they run out of underlings. Do you think, for even a moment, that Trump will have to bear any responsibility for HIS cabinet choices and HIS supporters in Congress? Imagine - Navarro falls, then Hegseth, then Bondi, then MGT, then Rubio. All that's left is Trump and Vance.
Vance will find himself saddled with responsibility for eeeevery screw up. None of it will be Trump's fault.
"Oh, bad tariff policiy? That was Navarro's fault! He mislead our beloved president!"
"Oh, the Pentagon is in chaos? That's Hegseth's fault! He let down our commander in chief who put his precious trust in him!"
"Oh, Bondi is corrupt! The president couldn't have known! She pulled the wool over his eyes, the Jezebel witch! Any corruption he's involved with through her is her fault only!"
"Oh, foreign leaders don't respect us? Like at all? It must be Vance's fault. He's always traveling, always sticking his neck out. He should be helping the president, but he's only in it for himself!"
And they WILL fall.
And Trump will be the last, THE LAST, to fall.
Support for him is like... a stay of execution lol.
Literally HOW do you reach a point where a billionaire with a trail of corruption as long as the Mississippi river looks like the blessed Messiah to you and speaking against him is actual blasphemy and way worse than any other crime? Howww do you get to that point.
