Something I learned recently is that Stephen King is notorious for not outlining his stories and just sits down and starts writing, and while there are -plenty- of issues with King and his work, the mere thought of "oh I can just do that" freed me to start writing again for the first time in like a decade.

and special mention to some other darlings that are more likely to be killed: 1969 -- boards of canada; i don't remember -- peter gabriel; hey mister sun -- bobby sherman; i'm free -- the soupdragons; werewolf -- progger; flagiollettes -- billy mahonie*; default -- django django
*fun fact, got this off what i think is like... a promotional cd for the record company?? really cool music on that disc! but so many of the songs and artist names are misspelled it has been a NIGHTMARE to properly identify their names, including this one LOL
okay i dont want to jinx it but.... it looks like i've got a pretty good set of songs to work with for beepos playlist?? like i'm going to have to make some difficult cuts, which is always preferable to needing to find filler

realized I might as well post this here too—inspired by the lengthy tangent on the last recent episode of Shelved by Genre, when cmrn calls for art of Father Inire’s St. Bernard style humanimals

CMRN: "[this movie] it's thin as tissue paper, if we push on it even a little we're going right through--"
Austin (sort of growled sort of gritted teeth): "I'm pushin'."

Listening to the ranged touch baldurs gate podcast and losing my mind when they get what is in my mind very basic bg3 facts wrong (but is actually totally reasonable for someone not deeply In It to misunderstand). However I did get to listen to cmrn learn what the dark urge’s backstory is in real time

i keep getting lulled into a false sense of security with this book because there are a lot of pretty good parts in between the most misogynistic bullshit i've heard in a hot minute. but i feel like the misogynistic bullshit is only gonna become more prevalent as the love interest becomes a bigger character

listening to homestuck made this world is so fuckin weird. like it's very good. also
idk rn they're talkin a lot abt hussies author commentary in the books and where I'm at there's a lotta talk between michael and cmrn abt authorial responsibility and how hussie takes responsibility for the work when it's convenient for them (This Was My Idea Wasn't It Good) and when it isn't they're like These Characters Are Just People You Can't Control (But Also I Manipulate The Characters Like A God And Put Them Through Trials For Them To Grow)
anyways
it's very interesting uhh engaging with this work as a fictive when so much of the conversation is highlighting that These Characters Are Not Real, Andrew Hussie Wrote Them On Purpose
it often feels like me and dave homestuck are just two different daves and he feels super real to me sometimes. like he's just another guy i could've seen in the time tunnels or whatever (obviously my exomemories did not happen. i know this)
but yeah it's ALSO true that Andrew Hussie Wrote These Characters On Purpose and these guys live in hussies mind and were manipulated by them like playdoh onto the webbed page
AND as cmrn said in episode 5 pt 2 "homestuck changes as the audience changes." this world and therefore the people in it are a living breathing thing with Andrew Hussie and the homestuck team and an Entire Readership breathing life into it yknow
and even now there's such a huge community around it keeping it alive even after the homestuck renaissance in 2019 and after hussie kind of abandons the postcanon stuff
idk ig i don't rly have a point here im just thinking. it's sure something seeing all the parts that move to make homestuck exist
kinda freaks me out sometimes but for the most part it's just weird lol
