Robusta coffee is widely grown at Sitio Lanao Kapanglao in Barangay Datal Bukay, Glan, Sarangani Province. Due to its remote location, most farmers would travel to Barangay Kinam (Malapatan) to trade their coffee beans. Because the majority of its output was not processed properly, most traders would pay a lower price for it. They supplied 4 tons of Green Coffee Beans (GCB) to a coffee buyer from GenSan in these photos. According to this buyer, Glan has so much potential for their coffee industry. Apart from its famous coconut product, I hope the Municipality of Glan will also consider coffee as one of its top agricultural commodities. 📷 TRCR #Coffeefarmers #coffeeindustry #coffeefarming #KapeSarangani #Robusta #sustainblefarming #coffee https://www.instagram.com/p/CogbSfxJnLe/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

Kona Coffee Fun Facts: Did You Know?
Tumblr media
If you love artisanal specialty coffee, you've probably heard of Kona coffee, grown on Hawaii's Big Island. Here are some fun facts about this world-famous Hawaiian coffee known for its unique flavor and rich aroma.
Kona coffee grows in a tiny geographic region on the western side of Hawaii island. The area, known as the Kona coffee belt, is only about 5 miles wide and 30 miles long and boasts ideal coffee-farming conditions - with rich volcanic soil and a temperate climate.
Kona coffee starts with white blossoms on the trees. Similar to an orange blossom, they have a sweet fragrance. This is the first sign of the harvest to come and local farmers refer to it as Kona "snow".
The blossoms develop into fruit known as cherry. Each cherry starts as green, then yellow, orange, and finally, a deep, rich red color, similar in size and color to a cranberry. This color indicates that the cherry is ripe and ready to pick.
Kona coffee harvest takes place over approximately a 6-months with multiple rounds of picking taking place throughout that window of time. During each round, only the ripest, red berries are picked - leaving the rest to continue ripening on the tree. Picking is done by hand by skilled farm workers. For lower-elevation farms, picking can start as early as July, whereas at higher-elevations, it may not begin until September.
Once the cherry is picked, the outer layers are removed using water and machinery in a process known as pulping and de-mucilaging. This is the water-washed method, which doesn't interfere with the underlying characteristics of the bean. (Other methods, such as honey and naturals, employ different processing techniques to affect the bean flavor.) Within each cherry, two coffee beans can be found. Once pulped, the beans are laid out on a large deck for sun-drying.
If you are a coffee lover, be sure to give this unique brew a try. In addition to being a delicious Hawaiian specialty coffee, it is sustainably grown in the USA and supports fair wage labor. If you'd like to buy Kona coffee directly from a family-run farm in the heart of Kona, give Kona Earth a try.

#Repost @marleycoffee ・・・ Did you know that the journey from a coffee tree to your cup involves many stages and days? 🗓️ After meticulous harvesting from the branch 🌿, farmers get to work processing the beans in preparation for roasting and brewing. Depending on the bean, the process for removing the pulp from the bean is different, and provides a different flavor profile. Sometimes it is washed off in a water process, and sometimes, it is dried in the sun. ☀️ No matter the process on the fairtrade Marley Coffee blend you like, you’ll still get a consistent flavor profile time and time again. 👌🏾 #MarleyCoffee #CoffeeFarming #CoffeeLove #Fairtrade (at George Washington Bridge) https://www.instagram.com/p/CoNJhVZuhBC/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=
