Explanation of some of my thoughts under the cut:

This piece is about change, courage, and danger.

The wheat has changed from green to gold. Similar to how Cole Cassidy has undergone change. From ranch hand, to Deadlock gang member, to Blackwatch operative, and now he's part of a recalled Overwatch. Even his name has changed, from Jesse McCree to Cole Cassidy.

Additionally, the wheat is about to be harvested for the benefit of others. However, carrion birds have come to pillage it for themselves.

Likewise, in the current narrative, the world is moving towards peace but antagonistic forces, like Talon or Null Sector or good ol' corruption, threaten that.

Cassidy has seen these forces burn the world to the ground before. But this time, he's not going to let them win. Like Winston said, "Someone's got to do something."

TLDR - Cole Cassidy is a scarecrow AND a field of wheat.
