As the two first-year students chatted on—with a certain monster munching on his tuna happily—a figure loomed over them for a moment, prompting the two teens to raise their heads and widen their eyes at the surprise.
“W-Why is Savanaclaw’s dorm leader sitting with us—”
“How would I know?!”
Swallowing, Ace, who sat beside your slouched form, shook you lightly. He received an annoyed grunt in response, having his hand shrugged off.
“Prefect!” Still hearing no response, Ace let out a sigh and pretends he’s still trying to get his friend to awoke—even though he knew you had no intentions to sit up—just so he could leave his blue haired friend to ask questions to the intimidating third-year.
“There’s no more seats left.” The dorm leader replied simply, giving them bored stares.
“A-Ah…I see…” Deuce awkwardly looked to his side, scratching head. Grim pouncing onto their cafeteria table, standing high and mighty right in front of Leona, caused him a heart attack. “Hey, Grim…!”
“Hyahah! You’re here because you want to have lunch together with Grim-sama, right? I know, I know. I can be so irresistible sometimes!” The fur ball placed his paws on hips, mouth stretched into a smirk with chin high, clearly full of himself. Sometimes Deuce wishes he had his confidence.
Leona, however, did not pay any attention to the monster. Simply waving lazily with a flick of his wrist. “Yeah, whatever floats your boat.”
Grim, Deuce and Ace all tilted their heads in confusion. Usually the dorm leader would at least growl, maybe bare his fangs a little to get Grim to stop being so annoying. However, today, he had his eyes set on you.
They can see the ways his sharp eyes glided towards your form— arms on table serving as a cushion for your head. You looked like you were close to death.
“Oi, what’s with the herbivore?” Leona half-heartedly asked, leaning his cheek on palm, taking in your situation.
“Ah, this girl, got herself a potion to submit before class ends!” Suddenly relaxing and finding no more tension in the air, Ace laughed, patting your back, still no signs of life from you.
“Again?” Leona raised a brow at that, clearly wanting more context.
“Yeah. And this time she doesn’t have anyone as a partner! Last time she’s got Epel, but this time she’s all alone.”
At this, you finally shot a glare at the boy. Though your head was still buried in arms, having only raised a little to do some glaring.
“Actually, she has Grim, but we all know he’s not gonna help anything.” Deuce added, sending you a worried gaze. He wished he could help…but he’s got his own problems.
“You guys don’t have a potion to make?” Leona raised his brows, shifting in his seat.
“Oh, we do. But my deadline’s in three days. Deuce’s in five. We got time.” Ace waved, unbothered.
Leona gave a low hum, staring at you for quite a few good minutes and not speaking.
“Does this mean my— this herbivore procrastinated until the last day?”
He could see your brow twitch, making him smirk. Soon, your head was raised fully as you sent another glare, this time at him. He swore he could see some tears in your eyes and he almost dropped his guard and softened.
“I wasn’t procrastinating!” You argued, a frown on your face. “It was just so hard! I couldn’t get it right no matter how I do.”
Ace pulled you in by wrapping an arm around your shoulders, giving you a mock head pat, and failing to see Leona’s clench of jaw. “I’d love to help, but we all know every single one of us here is dumb.”
Huffing, you shoved your friend aside. He was no help at all. Deuce hummed. “But, this is really bad. If you can’t finish it by today, Crewel-sensei’s gonna…” he trailed off with a gulp, not even wanting to think about the consequences from such a strict teacher.
A distressed friend, a salty auburn haired boy, an unconcerned monster and a tired magicless human from Ramshackle. Leona eyed the group, from one student to the other until he eventually reached you.
As expected, you were quietly giving him puppy eyes. Silently pleading for his help, made sure your friends didn’t see you.
Your only ray of hope wore a smirk and you instantly knew what the man wanted. You needed to ask, verbally. He have always liked it when his name spills from your lips.
“Leona-senpai,” the corner of his lips twitched. “could you please help me with this? I promise I’ll do whatever you ask me to!”
The other first-years at the table snapped their heads toward you, so fast that you grimaced at it.
“Prefect! I wish I had the guts like you.”
“Why would you do that—”
“Don’t ask him! He’s scary!”
Ignoring their antics, your eyes stay focused on Leona, watching his expression for answers. You knew he’d help, he’s just a big tease.
“Oh? The herbivore is brave promising whatever I want.”
Nodding with a determined gaze, Leona let out a small chuckle before standing from his seat. He began to walk, prompting you to sit up properly as well with sparkling eyes, just waiting for the final green light to make you jump off.
“Hurry up, then. I don’t have all day for you.” You were sure he have.
“Thank you, Leona-senpai!”
As the Savanaclaw dorm leader walk out of the cafeteria with an excited, skipping Ramshackle Prefect beside, your abandoned friends watched in confusion, maybe some admiration, too.
“What the hell.” Ace started, bewildered at the situation just like anybody else.
Deuce scratched at his head. “Since when did Kingscholar-senpai was this kind and willing…”
Grim sat stunned before snapping back to reality, panicking at how you two have already disappeared. “Wait! I gotta do the potion too, ya know!? Y/N and I are one!” He scurried off, following your trails.
