Hey cotl fandom am I cooking
(beggining for my upcoming fanfic under the cut haha) (Ajal is my lamb's name obv)
5 bishops defeated. 5 crown taken, 1 in use, 4 on display. Once symbols of great power, now reduced to mere relics, decorations, in the cult of the Lamb God, the one and only God of Death. Lamb never thought about keeping the crowns safe. After all, the crowns themselves choose their owner. If a too curious follower or a foolish traitor were to try and steal them, they would go insane, for the crown does not find them worthy. Many has suffered this fate in the past, despite Ajal’s many warnings and rules. For the past few decades however, no one dared to touch the crowns, admiring them from a distance. Ajal was sure that the crowns would not harm nobody, in the next few decades at least.
Imagine you’re rescued and taken to a cult by a lamb, who you were sure was executed that day, just as you’re about to be sacrificed. Only for the lamb to end up naming you „Peanut”. That was the fate of Lamb’s dear husband and disciple, who was unfortunate enough to be named that.
The gentle brown deer with a scar over his eye from when he almost got sacrificed, clad in a purple ceremonial robe, was Ajal’s first follower, first lover, and first disciple. Also a great farmer. He has seen everything, watched many followers and friends die along the way. One could say it’s a sad existence, but Peanut was happy with his life. He loves the Lamb dearly, and recently, he has been very specially rewarded.
A necklace, made out of a golden skull. Lamb only has a few, so receiving one is a big honor. Peanut couldn’t contain his excitement when Ajal gave it to them. It felt like getting married all over again, but now, even death won’t separate them. Not that it ever did, the deer always getting ressurected as soon as he died, but now there was no way for him to die.
The deer never was a jealous type. However when Lamb started marrying the former bishops, something changed. Especially towards Leshy, the former God of Chaos. It’s not that Peanut hated him, not at all, they were close friends even, bonding over being the youngest sibling. There was just something… deeper inside, this weird and yet curious feeling of disdain towards him. Peanut brushed it off as jealousy after Ajal married all the bishops. But deep inside, he knew there’s a different reason. And lately, the eye on the old decoration, the crown of Chaos, seemed just a bit more greener…
„There you go. Please eat, my child”
„Thank you my Lamb!”
Ajal smiled as they gave a meal to a follower, a brown rabbit. They have accepted 3 starving followers into the cult today. A young rabbit named Jana, an older black cat named Fibre, and a green pig named Fian. The cult grew everyday, and Lamb was very happy with that.
„Lamb?”
„I have a name, Narinder”
„Whatever. I need to talk to you”
„Hmm?”
„In private, Lamb„
Ajal was confused, and a little concerned. Narinder wanting to talk with them was rare, and in private? Whatever happened cannot be good. But either way, Lamb is very happy to spend some time with his favorite lover.
Ah yes, favorite. Lamb always pretends to not favoritize their followers, as to not hurt their feelings, but they do, they really do. Their favorites are Peanut and Narinder, of course. They are the 2 that were always there with them, ever since the beggining. How can you not favoritize that?
Either way, it was not the time to think about that now. Narinder looked very serious, which never means anything good.
Ajal and Narinder sat inside Lamb’s tent.
„So” the Lamb started, their tone playfull and nonserious „what do you need Nari?~”

It’s finally done, guys – five whole pages of Narilamb AU comic AND MORE be upon you! (If you have trouble reading any of the text, view the full-size! These pages are huge!)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Yeesh, this took forever. <:)
There’s probably a ton of inconsistencies and anatomy/perspective wonkeries, but this was mostly just comic practice, so Oh Hekkin Well, Lol <:D
(Yes, I am aware the Gateway’s door isn’t present in the Afterlife, and the actual way in is just a pentagram portal. Yes, I put the door in there anyway because Artistic License, i.e. it felt more impactful for there to be a prison door of sorts to walk through to freedom, rather than just a bland boring portal on the ground. 😠)
anyway, i hate backgrounds so much lmao
Alternate ending and a buttload of bonus art under the cut, followed by goofy AU rambles and headcanon stuff:
I’m calling it the Revival AU. It’s not all that creative a title, and someone else has probably used it already, but I am too lazy to really care, LOL
Alternate ending page, which you will Definitely need to view the full-size for, Whoopsie Daisy:
Tumblr media
The alternate ending was actually the first ending I finished things off with, because I had a brief badbrain moment where I forgot the emotional beat I initially wanted the comic to end on, and I tend to write comedy, anyway. I later remembered and drew out the proper ending, but I preserved and finished this one, too, because it still makes me giggle.
They had to go back for the followers off-screen in the AU’s real ending. And by ‘they’ I mean just the Lamb, because they weren’t about to ask three newly freed cats to go back into what used to be their prison. The Lamb DID spend some time watching Narinder and the bois enjoying the outdoors first, though:
Tumblr media
In other news, here’s the Lamb and me making fun of my anatomy-drawing ‘skills’:
Tumblr media
Meanwhile, if you’re wondering why the Lamb is just a-okay with how things went down vis a vis Their Murder, this bonus comic should answer at least some of your questions:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Ah, yes, also this is how they get engaged outside of the alternate ending. Forgot to mention that bit. XD (I already refuse to believe that Narinder is capable of flirting normally, so why would his initial marriage proposal be any better???)
Oh, and before any of them get a chance to actually head back to the cult grounds, there is one potential problem:
Tumblr media
And by ‘problem’ I mean something Narinder intends to ignore for At Minimum a thousand years. Cuz he’s a petty bitch like that. :D
what do you mean i drew the lamb too tall compared to the background? clearly they’re standing on top of baal and aym lmao, why else would you think those two aren’t in this one??? (aym and baal got way too excited about finally being outside, you see, and their silly modes are nothing to sneeze at)
And, speaking of heading back to the cult grounds, I’m sure y’all would love to know how the Lamb’s followers felt about the brand new change in management:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
It all went better than expected. <:D Tiny ramble now, feel free to skip down to the next comic.
Before you ask, no, the Lamb does not have any actual powers anymore, other than the immortality Narinder definitely grants them. The Red Crown just thinks it’s funny to suggest otherwise, and Narinder does nothing to discourage this. Also, the Lamb and Narinder aren’t actually married here yet, but, uh. Pretty safe to say that particular ritual directly follows the events of this comic. XD
Given how quickly he mellows out in canon, Narinder probably chills out a lot in this AU once he’s in charge of the cult, too, if only because 1.) He’s finally free, and 2.) He’s equally smitten with and distracted by the Lamb. He’s definitely in charge at least 95% of the time, though, because the Lamb never actually wanted to be a cult leader and, now that their time as a vessel is done, they just want to be a normal(ish) sheep who’s wholly devoted to their hot new divine husband.
Some followers do still have some valid concerns about these two being together, though, which I’m sure at least a few of you might share…
Tumblr media
Unfortunately for any such concerns, the Lamb is a bonafide masochist in this AU. :D
They’re also 100% a sub, obviously
Anyone at all: Your relationship is problematic and potentially toxic
The Lamb: fuck yeah it is, it’s so hot~ OuO
Here’s just the last panel, made transparent for whatever nefarious purposes y’all might have for it:
Tumblr media
Additional exchange Narinder and the Lamb have at some point, probably after the Lamb does a fatal whoopsie while out on a mission trip or in response to things getting a little too sadistic in the bedroom, ahaha:
Tumblr media
Look, there is a very important distinction between life and death, and if you don’t understand that, then you’re probably not worthy of being the God of Death, anyway. (At least, according to Narinder, and ONLY Narinder.)
Last but not least, have these shittens:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
~Such creative naming conventions I have utilized, lololol~ :D Anyway, there's a few deets on them in the rambles down below.
The rest is all ramble, so before I get to that, I’ll just say – likes and especially reblogs are very much appreciated!!! :D If you happen to really really REALLY like my stuff, meanwhile, I do have a link in my bio to my ko-fi page, where I’m accepting commissions and donations if you’re especially generous… ÓuÒ
Now, BE FREE IF YOU AIN’T DOWN FOR READING MY GOOFY RAMBLES
First ramble is re: Baal’s question of ‘Did it really work?’, since I didn’t feel like expanding on it in the comic proper, and it’s arguably pretty vague? He doesn’t ask because he doubts Narinder or his capabilities, exactly, but because neither Baal nor Aym have ever actually seen their god at full power before (he’s still technically not at full power here, either). It’s not expressly stated how soon the brothers were brought to Narinder after his imprisonment, but whether it was early on or after a length of time for Shamura to (somewhat) recover from his attack, he must have already been weakened, since I have no doubts that there was a huge battle that accompanied the Bishops working together to trap him. So, between that fight with all four of his siblings, sharing his power with a variety of vessels over time, and being chained immobile for a thousand years, he must have been severely weakened by the time he lent the Red Crown out to the Lamb, which would have only weakened him further.
I like to think this is how the Lamb is able to defeat him if they refuse to be sacrificed, despite how it took all four Bishops working together to subdue and chain Narinder in the first place.
All that aside, the three cats have been trapped in the Afterlife for so long that Baal also wanted verbal reassurance that they are all, indeed, actually able to leave it now – something that I headcanon isn’t possible without a significant amount of power (i.e. the Red Crown’s cooperation with its bearer/vessel).
(On a semi-related note, I don’t headcanon Aym and Baal as twins. I like sweetheart big bro Baal and snarky little goth bro Aym too much to have them be that close in age.)
Ah, teeny thing: If you noticed I switched up the art style for Narinder on the second page, that was intentional. It's sort of a visual indicator that there has been a Big Change for him - that being, how much power he has after sacrificing the Lamb. As for why I changed up his arms in the grass rollin' pic, I don't really subscribe to the notion that his arms are spooky bones because they're horrifically injured (beyond chain-chafing scars, that is), but rather just because he's the Bishop of Death, so he can change how normal-to-spooky they look at will. At some point I might doodle out how I imagine his appearance to range between least to most eldritch... 🤔
Next ramble, regarding Narinder’s feelings towards the Lamb...he was initially too focused on being freed from his imprisonment to form any real attachment to them. They were a tool for his use, first and foremost, but he did notice their intense devotion towards him. It was impossible not to notice, because the Lamb was always very happy to see him, even if it was because they died during a crusade (yet again). He wasn’t originally planning to revive them once he was freed, either, because he saw no real point to it – after all, they were already dead when they first met him, just as any other mortal would be when meeting him in the Afterlife, so death has very little real consequence in his eyes. But, once the chains were off, and it really sank in that he stood to lose the most devoted follower he’s ever had, he decided…why put their soul to rest for good or leave them stuck in the Afterlife when he could just as easily revive them again? And why not reward them for their hard work, anyway? Not only would it cost him nothing by comparison, but the future devotion that could come of it would surely make up for his (bare minimum) effort in reviving them.
He wasn’t expecting to get a full dose of that devotion and a smiling face so soon after killing them, though~ :3c (because the Lamb is a bonafide freak, and not-so-secretly into the fucked up power dynamics going on here, lol)
I should mention here that I am firmly of the belief that any non-god/vessel who crosses through the Gateway and into the Afterlife just straight up dies. So, Aym and Baal? Also straight up dead, from the second Shamura brought them through. Their souls were just never put to rest so that Narinder could have some company – if only according to Shamura. Narinder kept the two around mostly out of bewilderment, because honestly, who are these kittens, and what is Shamura’s game here, anyway??? They never even explained anything, they just tossed these kittens into the Afterlife and LEFT!!! At any rate, Aym and Baal being dead is how I explain why their souls apparently become lost in the void if they’re killed, along with the added complications required to revive the two because of it.
So, with those deets in mind, and given a bit of time, if Narinder hadn’t chosen to revive the Lamb, and also hadn’t chosen to put their soul to rest, they still would have woken up at some point, despite being as straight up dead as Aym and Baal. Who, don’t worry, were also properly revived while Narinder was waiting for the Lamb to wake up. Because I am also firmly of the belief that, first, the dead cannot leave the Afterlife without the use of a ritual/relic (and can't stay in the living world for long regardless), and second, dead followers’ devotion isn’t anywhere near as potent as that of the living, given how much more the living stand to lose.
Final ramble, regarding the Lamb’s feelings towards Narinder, and why they’re so devoted to him…
Well, you don’t spend most of your life on the run with your steadily-dwindling herd, trying to evade the ongoing genocide of your species, without becoming a little fucked up in the head. Maybe a lot fucked up in the head. Life is suffering, so might as well have fun with it, right? Maybe start finding death and pain to be kind of hilarious, even a little bit hot, once everyone you know and love is dead and gone, leaving you all alone? And maybe after that, there’s something comforting in how, despite the cold, cruel uncertainties of life, at least you can always count on the inevitability of death, patiently waiting for you until your very last breath? Who knows. Either way, as soon as the Lamb was killed, and they learned that the literal God of Death was offering them a second chance at life and vengeance via effective immortality, they were 100% ride-or-die-devoted all at once. Turns out death is kinder than life – go figure. (Of course, it helps that Narinder is 100% their type.)
They weren’t put off by Narinder’s thinly-veiled sadism or manipulations, either – they’re not too different in those regards, albeit opting for vastly different methods. It’s a very ‘two sides of the same coin’ sort of deal. In order to stay alive once they were made the last of their kind, the Lamb had no qualms with using others to their advantage, and that did not change once they were revived and expected to run a cult. They didn’t care for the position of authority, though – being a sheep and all, they’re much more of a follower than a leader, and thus greatly appreciated Narinder’s need for control. With how they had to keep on their toes for so long, the Lamb was also pretty good at reading people by the time they died, so they could recognize that a lot of Narinder’s posturing was just that – posturing. Dude’s 95% bluster and only 5% bite. He could obviously be vicious when he wanted or needed to (the Bishops' injuries were clear proof of that), but underneath his outer layer of cruelty was a generous layer of tsundere, and underneath all THAT was a soft squishy middle sibling velcro cat in desperate need of attention and affection.
(Which, for the record, he Did Not feel comfortable getting from Aym and Baal – Narinder still has no idea why the fuck Shamura sent them to him, beyond acting as keepers at best or trying to sabotage his attempts to escape at worst. Which, he thought HE sabotaged in turn, by guiding the kittens into being his devoted disciples instead. He thought he was very clever for it. ‘I outsmarted Shamura!’ he thought, despite that there was never anything there to outsmart. ‘What do you mean, Shamura sent your kittens to me for company?’ he demands of Forneus later. It may or may not lead him to pull Shamura out of Purgatory just so he can shake them and scream about how they should have Fucking Explained that!!!)
But, getting back on track as to why the Lamb was so willing to be sacrificed, I cannot stress this enough – if you pay even a minimal amount of attention to what he’s saying, Narinder is REALLY NOT SUBTLE about his intentions. ‘Death is of little consequence.’ ‘Followers are for you to use to your advantage.’ ‘Sacrifice a follower to absorb more power.’ So, yeah, the Lamb knew exactly what would be expected of them once the other Bishops were dead. They knew Narinder would expect them to die for him one last time. But, after all, death is of little consequence (not to mention hot), so when the time came, they wanted to see him freed, even if it meant oblivion for them in the end.
He’d given them a second life, and the ability to avenge their kin, and they felt indebted to him for that – so, while they were still pretty glum about the possibility that they might not get to see him free of his chains, nothing beyond their devotion and debt to him mattered. They never wanted all the drama and expectations that came with the Red Crown’s power, anyway, so, better for Narinder to have it back so that he could deal with it. What he did with the Lamb afterward would be up to him, and seeing as he was their god, they’d accept his decision gladly.
Were they in love with him by that point? Oh, obsessively so, but only in the devotional sense – romance was nowhere on their mind nor radar. That is, until he unexpectedly revived them again, told them he still needed them, and then offered down his hand to help them up.
The Lamb fell HARD for him in that moment. :3c
And now, a tiny shitten ramble. Lu and Li are twins, because sheep tend to have those a lot, and are conceived not long after the Lamb and Narinder’s marriage ceremony. Lu is the minutes older one, but Li is much more mature. I have put no further thought into these two, other than that they are utter menaces, birthed by the Lamb, cling hard to both their parents but especially Narinder (who spoils them rotten), and they are both genderfluid, using whichever pronouns/names they feel like at any given time. They are also both intersex, same as the Lamb, who was initially infertile up until Something Something Vague Magic, which I have also put no further thought into ¯\_(シ)_/¯
oh, and before anyone tries to suggest i headcanon this AU’s lamb as trending more female due to them giving birth or whatever, no, no, a thousand times no, they might have a vag, but they've also got a dick, and even if it's not as big as they'd like, they still know how to use it
Finally, the very tentative name for the Lamb in this AU is Yazdi, which is really just another name for the Baluchi breed of sheep XD (Not that the Lamb is this specific breed, I just didn’t like any of the other sheep-related names I found, ahaha...)
THAT’S ALL FOR NOW (collapses into an exhausted pile of goopy limbs)

Silly headcanon time: how the bishops court someone
Leshy blossoms various llants depending on his emotion, state of mind and what he wants to send as a message. So, unconsciously, he starts sprouting more often plants of the likeness of his love interest (in the case of Tulip, he starts sprouting even more camelias, roses and catnip. So much catnip.)
Heket doesn't court in any way, but tends to casually show off to who attract her attentions. I'm develomling an idea for my "weldome new gods" thing where she basically flirts and fkex on one of the new deities during a very gay sword fight.
Kallamar starts casually covering whiever piques his interest with attentions and gifts, slmetimes hand made.
Shamura doesn't really court, but I read somewhere that some spiders purr to attract a mate so they fucking purr whenever the goat is nearby. And they don't even realize it.
Narinder goes like "i do not care of the lamb" and then just spends as much time as he can near them acting like an asshole and brings them dead things as a gift, and somehow he manages to rizz them up.

mmm thinking about an au where Narinder runs away after being defeated and eventually finds himself being taken in by a kind soul in a distant village beyond the borders of the Old Faith. He begins to learn how to just... be, after a rocky start. Slowly easing into village life, taking over the kind person's role once they get too old to continue working (Narinder quickly realizing he himself isn't aging) and somehow accidentally fitting himself into the role of this person's son.
Years pass by and he's fully settled as a member of this godless village, unaware of the power vacuum left by the crowns and the war the Lamb (& Co, he's unaware that his siblings have been brought back) are fighting, watching the generations being born and aging. Maybe a whole generation has come and gone in the time he's been there, and over those ~100 years he becomes a pseudo-leader/protector for them.
Maybe a stranger comes to the village one day. A stranger from outside. Narinder was once a stranger from outside too, and like the kind soul who took him in he does the same, and something... starts between them. Something warm, something he's never felt before. Painfully aware of his own mortality, yet.... a family sounds nice. He's watched everyone around him start their own, he's even helped widowed parents and orphaned children....
So he starts a family. And they're happy.
Until they're not.
The power struggle from the land of the old faith spills over their borders, wannabe gods looking to expand their power, and in the dead of night Narinder's peaceful little village is attacked.
so much is lost- not a kit, thankfully, Narinder protects them with everything he has, and by now he has discovered he can still use magic so protect them he does. But the village is under attack and Narinder's partner is among those who are lost.
He lashes out with his magic, essentially rotting every heretic in the village alive in his grief, and afterwards they rebuild with a few dozen new graves, well cared for, with Narinder pretty solidly stepping into the role of leader. He doesn't introduce the idea of gods to these people- they're his people now, and they don't need gods. He can take care of them himself, god or not.
Those who are capable of magic, he teaches to use it. Those who are not, he teaches to use weapons and runes. He won't let the outside world harm them again.
Fast forward ~15 years, the village is thriving and the people are happy. His kits are teens/young adults now and his people are capable enough to defend themselves, so he's started joining hunting parties and trade groups, interacting with other villages outside of the Old Faith lands (they're spread apart, and Narinder's village is at this point the most prosperous... due to magic reasons, not that Narinder will reveal this). He very, very much refuses to go anywhere near the Old Faith's lands, and has in no uncertain terms forbidden his kits from even approaching the border.
No one knows who he really is. Unfortunately, skeletons don't stay in their graves when the Old Faith is involved.
Narinder is away with a trade group when the Lamb and the Bishops, who are searching for a rogue heretic faith that attacked their cult, stumble upon the village. It's the only one for miles, having been days since they've seen another village (Lamb laments the fact they can't just teleport out here, since there's no warp stones set up out here). The villagers are cautious but friendly- very clearly not warriors, but clearly not about to lie down and let themselves be harmed.
They talk amongst themselves, knowing the people out here don't speak their language, when someone greets them in their language. It's Narinder's oldest kit, a polite thing who definitely plays the rules on their lines; "Father says we cannot go into the Old Faith lands but he said nothing about inviting them to dinner." Ofc this kit has no idea who these people are, and they have no idea who she is, but she greets them nicely and lets them know her father is the village's leader and they cannot offer anything more than water for the road but there is room at their table if they would like to join them.
The Bishops and Lamb are tired and have been on the move for weeks now, trying to hunt down the rogue heretics who managed to escape, and honestly, dinner and a place to safely sit sounds nice, and it's not like any of them can actually be killed if things go south (Lamb would just bring them back and they know it). So they agree to stay.
And then Narinder returns. Impromptu family reunion :)

Hello! Big fan of your art. You've answered one of thw questions on my ask before, about the True Prophets of the Crown's, and here's my interpretation of them, if you don't mind!
Tumblr media
I try to put in some symbol association on them that correspends to the crown they're holding. I dunno if you'll notice it or not, just in case in the future I get blocked from interacting from your blog by some bug, so here the bits are:
Stag of Order: Not much symbols that means order, so I put in the Zodiac symbol for Balance, Libra, on the shirt, the closest thing.
Cow of Harvest: She's surrounded by the fruits of her harvest, a wooden basket full of food freshly harvested and her arm full of maize plants (rice?).
Dove of Peace: She carries an olive branch, the symbol associated with doves and peace. She also has crescent and full moons on her shawl there.
Snakes of Healing: Fun one! I went with the Ascleipus symbol of a snake on a staff, because he's the Greek god of healing and snakes are his thing, but you mentioned snakes in plural so I wonder if you're also one of those that you confused with Caduceus, Hermes's symbol instead. So I put three snakes together, add some wings to the staff, and voilà, Snakes.
Please enjoy it, have a good month come to you, drink water and eat vegetables daily.
Oooh my goooood!!! This makes me so happy! You perfectly envisioned what I had in mind!!! Including the symbolism I wanted to use! Oh I'm geeking so much, fanning myself currently, the only thing that I didn't perfectly envision is the Snakes of Healing! Why I used plural is because...they have multiple heads on one body! Just as you've said they were inspired by the Caduceus! BUT THREE? ...makes it all the better, it incorporates both of the symbols and makes it more the fun! Oooohhh this is such a lovely morning present I'm so giddy with joy...I must doodle them in the future with all the ornate bits and pieces I wanted to give them, but UGH I'm so happy.

I can't remember the name, but in a fic on AO3, when Nari is teaching the lamb how to act like a god, he mentions that he and his siblings had been trained by Duke's That these mortals had taught them how to be gods.
I see that idea, and it sent me in a bit of a spiral for my own au. Why are mortals telling God's how to act? Who are they to make these demands, and what right do they have? I think it is a matter of control, puppeteeing the Bishops the way one would a king. Sure by the time of the game they're all dead but their influence remains. Why else would Narinder be shamed for his ability? If it went against the natural order, why could he revive so easily? To the point his vessel only needs a few bones to do it? Who else would have taught Kallamar to fear his brother? To be so mortally fearful of death? Who else would have demanded these gods to fit the roles given them instead of letting the gods define themselves and their domains? Why can Famine and Pestilence bring feast and health, but Chaos, Death, and War cannot bring Order, Life, and Peace? Because it was the limited these Duke's put on them and even millenia later the Bishops remember the fear and lessons they learned as children.
Narinder was the first and only one to question this, to try and grow and be something more then he was told to be, for he over saw the Duke's deaths and KNOWS because their souls were forced to bare him the truth when their judges came. Even if it still took several thousand years to convince himself to try, haunted by the memories of harsh lessons and harsher punishments.
But the others? Leshy, who would have been constantly dismissed as a mere chaos god and been thusly kept in line, to keep him as much control over chaos as possible? Who had watched his more powerful siblings suffer. He would much rather stay buried in the dirt than risk such dangers.
Hecket, who has never been full but would still be purposefully starved, so she would "know what her domain means"? That remembers being a child hiding when her siblings were punished for feeding her? Haunted by the feeling of overeating when a feast was set before her after a week of starvation and how sick eating made her only to be told it was because in feasting she was going against her domain The thought of trying to cross those lines that had been carved out was terrifying even for her.
Kallamar, he who had stitched and peaced together his siblings after their lessons and punishments alike, that had been forced to witness some of the most terrifying diseases and poisons since he was too young to fully understand? Had been taught that his domains' whole purpose was to make others suffer and live long enough to experience that suffering? A god made to fear even his own domain, turning to weapons for comfort even knowing the things he feared most could not be stopped by blade or shield? Kallamar wouldn't dare try.
Finally, Shamura, they who had at first been forced to bear the Duke's cruelity alone, that their domains may include wisdom, but that did not mean they knew more than the Duke's. Who had that lesson beat into their body and mind long before they gained one sibling, never minding all four, and only knew how to protect them through obedience and encouraged them to do the same, hoping that the Duke's wouldn't find a reason to punish these Shamura swore to protect. A god of War taught the cruelities but not the motivation and why mortals were able to fight so desperately even after receiving a killing wound. Shamura who was never taught Wisdom came from the heart as much as the mind, who allowed these early lessons from when they were alone to guide them, until it even made them turn on a brother they swore to protect.
This is what the New God's will face when they enter the past. Not armies and weapons, but five traumatized gods, still controlled by the Duke's, who may not be God's but use learned fear and conditioning to control them. The future Bishops must relive these memories while trying to guide their past selves on lessons learned too late while the New Fate must aid them without revealing themselves as gods to mortals.

Okay more about that funger au. Vaggie parallels D’arce, only she’s devoted to Charlie and her dreams instead of Lucifer, and is more devoted to Charlie than her dream itself. Charlie is the Girl if her father aborted the plan. She carries Le’garde’s dream of uniting humanity. Angel Dust parallels Cahara, he was sent by Valentino in search of Lucifer as a punishment and a way to pay back the money he accidentally lost him. Alastor parallels Enki as he enters the dungeons in pursuit of knowledge and power.
They find Lucifer, who despairs when he sees Charlie in the dungeon and tries to get them to leave. Only Charlie is adamant on going to the depths. She’s been having dreams about the dungeon since she was young, and she’s convinced she can unite humanity through venturing into the depths of the dungeon. Horrors etc etc

COTL / TROD AU Reference Sheets and OC refs that I made a few months ago and have been using but forgot to post. The cloaks on Narinder and Lamb, and heights and clothing of the bishops are semi-outdated, but the OC height sheet is accurate.
+ Joon, Grekimar, and Jayen refs. There's character lore and relationship info for them under the cut, I'll get to the rest of them eventually:
Character lore, mainly for artfight purposes but putting it here too. Some of this character lore is already established in fic or on here, but may contain spoilers for Trod later on.
😺Joon (They/Them):
Born and raised in the Lamb's flock with little outside wordly experience, the Yellow Cat aka 'Joon' is the best farmer in the flock with an upbeat attitude and a easy-going, casual outlook on life. They're a hard worker and a harder napper, which lands them in a particular situation when a accidental nap inside a barn leads to them witnessing the Leader drag in a bloody, confused, volatile worm The Lamb shakily says was rescued from Darkwood, before reluctantly leaving them to the yellow cat's care. Which is fine, because if the leader says it's fine, then it's fine. Totally.
With their accidental involvement, Joon is assigned to be Leshy's 'caretaker', or really just a supervisor to make sure the worm doesn't do anything terrible and to report to the Lamb if he does anything weird, all without ever being truly told of the worm's true nature.
🐷Grekimar (He/Him):
Originally a heretic in Anura, Grekimar is a 'relatively' new cultist to the Lamb's Flock ('New' being a few years, but still not as long as other flock members.) Although the pig used to conduct violence and sacrifices in the God of Famine's name, he was welcomed to the Flock as a new member after he began to question the strength of the rule of dead god and was exiled. His arrival was met with scrutiny but was eventually welcomed as he's a hard worker, and surprisingly (due to his gruff demeanor), cares for his new home and it's peaceful rules over his prior home, including it's inhabitants.
When a three eyed cat arrives and threatens the saftey of his fellow flock, Grekimar becomes a dissenter and questions the Leader's decision, joining alliance with The Lamb's highest disciple, Tyren, to scheme and kill the cat in order to protect the flock.
🐻Jayen (He/Him):
A kindhearted and rather soft-spoken soul, Jayen is 'gentle giant' archtype character. Brought to the cult as a cub, Jayen is an anxious 'left-over' type, with no particular skills or qualities that are seemingly 'useful' to the flock or it's Leader, and he is very self-consious about this. Switching inbetween jobs and struggling to find his place among the cult's growing number, Jayen is decayed and killed by a furious Narinder in an attempt to pull him off of The Lamb when the cat's dramatic initial arrival happened. He is later revived, now traumatized and with a heightened fear of death.
Although his murderer walks free, the same cat had revived him as well, so Jayen holds no ill will and would rather simply leave it all behind and not think about it all. However, he is roped into a scheme to kill Narinder by Tyren and Grekimar, with the former using the bear's fears of death to pressure him into helping.
Tyren's, Grekimar's, and Jayen's relationships:
-While Tyren is a loyal disciple and Grekimar a regular dissenter, both found common ground in wanting to Kill Narinder, though their reasonings differ. Tyren wants to kill Narinder being an obstacle to the Lamb, while Grekimar wants to rid of him for concerns to protect the cult. While they can put aside their differences to achieve their goal, Tyren's methods will make Grekimar reconsider his alliance with the dog.
-Tyren pressures Jayen into working with him and Grekimar under the guise that if they do not kill Narinder, then the cat will eventually kill him again. If that tactic does not work, Tyren will subtly imply that he will use his status in the cult to undermine Jayen, and possibly exile him for being 'useless.'
-Grekimar thinks Jayen a coward, and while he'll pressure the bear to do as he is told, the pig is conflicted about getting the bear involved.

soft, comfort narilamb <3
Tumblr media
I drew this with my cotl stardew au in mind...
explanation under the cut if you wanna hear
So when lamb was still new on Rataus farm they had to do a lot of distracting themselves to cope with the trauma of watching their family die.
Keep in mind that they are still mortal here!
When working on the farm, scrolling around town, gifting the villagers of Pelican Town, and running errands for them isn't enough to cope they often resort to literature.
Fortunate for them, Ratau has several bookshelves in his farmhouse. All full of dusty, untouched, massive books.
Books of an old, forgotten faith.
Lamb learns about a certain god of death, not knowing that they're playing a huge part in the greater story of said god. They believe him to be a myth and treat it as nothing more than fiction to obsess over to distract themselves from reality.
The thought of a god of death comforts them, under the impression that there's someone who looks after their passed family all along.
Finally, they find comofort after all.
Comfort in a god they don't believe to be real.
Comfort in a god they don't know they'll serve in the future.
.·͙*̩̩͙˚̩̥̩̥*̩̩̥͙ ✩ *̩̩̥͙˚̩̥̩̥*̩̩͙‧͙ .
Even several hundred years later, after the prophecy is long fullfilled and Narinder and Lamb are living comfortably together as the gods of death – the old tales and stories of the one who waits still bring a sence of comfort to them.

Small idea for a narilamb oneshot
Lambert returned from their crusade, moving their head to fix their neck. It was really, really a tiring expedition, but they returned with enough bones and materials for what the renovation of the camp. Everything was...
- LEADER! LEADER! YOUR SPOUSE HAS CLOSED HIMSELF INSIDE THE TEMPLE AND REFUSE TO GET OUT!-
Oh for fuck sake. Lambert quickly recollected themselves. - Do not worry, my child.- they petted the follower -I will speak to him as soon as possible.-
As they walked towards the temple, they tried to guess the reasons for that. A fight with his siblings? Did he just got stuck? They laughed at the thought, but then the crown detected Narinder's thoughts: They will kill me. I messed up. Why do I keep messing up?!
They fastened their pace, and basically broke down the temples door.
Naridner was near the altar, holding something between his arms, as he walked in circles.
- Oh, Lamb.- he said with a calm voice that didn't fit with his thoughts or expression.
- Don't you fucking "oh lamb" me. What the hell is happening?!- they closed the door behind them, as the cat fixed the little bundle in his arms.
- Patience is one of the most important virtues for a god. So, let me expl...- the bundle let out a little cry, as a baby poked their head from the fabric.
- YOU STOLE A BABY?!-
- Listen, you were the one who said you wanted one! Besides, I didn't steal her.-
- Where did you find that?!-
The cat got silent, and looked away, before mumbling - I may have... resurrected a random kid from he void...-
- What-
- But look at her!- a prideful glimmer shined in death's eyes, as he showed the little baby (an honey badger with totally black eyes) to the lamb - Perfectly healthy, putting aside the lisht corruption that she has... but one of my best works!-
- Naridner, hand me the kid.-
The cat hissed and just hugged the baby. The badger let put a weird noise.
- Nari. Hand me the baby.- the lamb stayed there, hands out - Please.-
Narinder hesitated, before letting the lamb hold the baby.- You know we can't just keep her. You just resurrected a random soul and she's...- the baby turned around, nuzzling herself against the lamb.
The lamb stayed there, staring at the little, precious life in their arms.- Nevermind if Shamura or circle head say anything I will tell them to suck my dick.-
