Costumer's Guild West, Inc.'s April 19, 2020 UPDATE about Costume College 2020: The Costumer’s Guild West, Inc.'s Board of Directors met Sunday (April 19, 2020) via Zoom; a week earlier than previously announced in the March 9th statement on social media and in the email sent out to all Costume College attendees, teachers, committee members and vendors, due to the changes in policies of the State of California and the City of Los Angeles. To protect public health and slow the rate of transmission of COVID-19, the California Department of Public Health announced a recommendation that gatherings and events of more than 250 people should either be postponed or cancelled until further notice from March 16, 2020 forward. Additionally, continuous monitoring of health advisories by CGW Board members and recent statements by the Governor of California, Gavin Newsom, have made it clear that it would not be safe to move forward with plans to hold Costume College this July. On April 19, 2020, the Costumer’s Guild West Board voted, along with the consensus of the Dean, Registrar and Hotel Liaisons of Costume College, to postpone Costume College 2020. Currently, the plan is to hold Costume College in late July or early August of 2021 (dependent upon scheduling with the Warner Center Marriott), continuing with the same event themes and bonus track from the postponed 2020 event. Our current Dean, Geri Rex, has agreed to continue as Dean for 2021 along with Assistant Dean, Gina Cowley. Our goal is to transfer as many plans and events as possible from Costume College 2020 to Costume College 2021. Unfortunately us retail workers, especially cashiers, don’t have the luxury of staying home. It would be nice if everyone could recognize that. Instead we work everyday to make sure customers are taken care of and try to make sure things are stocked to the best of our abilities. We’ve been under a lot of stress and are at the point of exhaustion, our schedules are being switched around to accommodate business needs. So please just be patient, kind, and understanding, we’d appreciate it!! Thanks @96.3wdvd for the post!! #retail #retailworkers #retailworkerproblems #cashier #cashierproblems #stayinghomeisnotanoption #iwishicouldstayhome #pleaseshowrespect #pleasebekind #covid_19 #covid19response #pleasedonthoard https://www.instagram.com/p/B91idPllmhI/?igshid=1pky5692wjbvu
