So it was like 10 o'clock at night, I was off at 10:45, I'm deliriously tired. When I scan this pack of High Noons (alcohol) and go to ask for her birthday, what comes out is,
"Could I get your phone number? NO, that's a pick-up line. What I MEANT WAS-"
So then she, myself, and Friend A who's bagging for me all start fucking dying. Then her boyfriend walks up and starts laughing with us, and she goes,
"Honestly, I was about to give it to you! The confidence alone!"
And we all laugh about this for the next three minutes while I finish ringing her up. Turns out she was nine years older than me, and for context, I turn nineteen next month, so I must be smoother than I thought. I hand her her receipt and I start laughing again before I can finish the sentence, cause like I said, I was exhausted, but what I said was,
"Sorry I tried to pick up your girl."
We all laugh again and they left. My line was then empty. Friend B's line was empty ahead of us, and he turned around and starts laughing cause he heard the whole thing. Friend A calls me the Rizzard of Oz and says that girl will have to get a rizzstraining order. Then like three minutes later, after Friend A has had time to go tell her, my manager turns to me, makes the phone gesture with her hand, and says
"Phone number?"
So we all start dying again. I say to the group, with no customers around,
"For exactly three minutes, I had rizz."
And my 27 year-old manager, who's a bisexual mother of five, goes,
"In your defense, I would've asked for her number too."

Getting sick and tired of this. I work retail and while MANY things have ground me down, something that keeps popping up is the schedule. I am set to max. 20 hours a week. This is what I can handle working at that store. I have given them my permission to go up to 23 just so I can have three nice 7-3:30 shifts a week.
Sometimes I'll have some wackadoo shifts, like 7-11 or 8:15 - 2:45. Not too bad but odd.
But something keeps happening that I KEEP HAVING to discuss with my managers. They keep increasing my hours without asking. For example, two weeks out (week after next) I am at 36 hours. Could I use the money? Absoluetle but I wasn't asked to increase hours, I didn't give permission to increase hours and I am losing it.
I flat out told them that this is strike two. One more time and I'm out. I will quit on the spot.
I need the money, I need to get my life in gear but I feel like I'm losing my sanity. My parents (old school gen X, I love them so much and they've done so much for me) advise me to stick to it and I'm split.
But also altering hours without permission is illegal so there's that.

I remember seeing once a post in this blog about a comic/webtoon you were working with as a collaboration.Would you mind if I asked for the link where to read it?
There's actually two!
Am I Still the Villain? An urban fantasy with dragons, main (gay) couple dealing with after effects of war and all dramatic sideplots about falling in love/kids/retailwork. And what it means to be a good person. But it’s not that dark! (Except when it is)
Tumblr media
Scaled is a steampunk fantasy thing. Much darker, starts with a continent wide pandemic and Stevan who's the pnly elf who survived from his village. He gets rescued by a group of soldiers and stuff happens. The second main character is Thales, half-elf "not a doctor" that has suspiciously many tricks up his sleeves. It starts as hand drawn and then gets digital after a while.
Tumblr media
Please go give either, or both, some love because the artist has suffered from art block. 💞

They “believe in protecting retailworkers”, unless they’re darkies/migrants.
Those they’ll allow any violation towards without expulsion, without consequnces, just as they Will with that type of customer, if the harassing one is the employee, behaving irrationally sexualizing in the workplace.
But they won’t mention that.
