Cookies, cookies, cookies! ⁠ 〰️⁠ We all need little pick me ups to get through the lockdown weeks. ⁠I've been going hard on desserts at the moment. In fact, you're about to see my feed get much sweeter! These vegan chocolate cookies are so worth a try. 〰️⁠ I was in a hurry and craving something sweet so I tried a pre-made cookie mix for the first time; I loved the result. These are the Spirit Lifters Chocolate Chip Cookie by Superfood Bakery. They're vegan, gluten free and so so good. Food Photography - Furthering my education

There's nothing better to give you a boost than expanding your education and learning new skills.  I constantly hone my skills and keep on trend with new ideas and new aspects to my business. With this in mind, I attended a fantastic workshop last week with Esther Ling, Panasonic and Wex about creating and shooting food photography images. Apart from a great presentation, I also got my hands on some equipment from Panasonic to play with.   I was able to create my own food images using different backgrounds and all lit with available light for the rest of the workshop. Here are some of my efforts which I'm quite proud of....

Do you make time for creativity? I'm lucky that my work is often very creative. But sometimes, whole weeks go by when I do lots of admin or work for my social media clients, and I suddenly realise that I haven't done anything creative that feeds me in ages. And let’s be honest. Sometimes, showing up on Instagram with fresh content every day takes the fun out of creativity. So I try to have pockets of creative play, just for myself, whenever I can. My solo projects have stressed me up before as well too, because the number of unedited shoots just gets bigger everyday. Damned if you do and damned if you don’t! 😅 So I wonder: does creativity come easy to you. If you watched my stories in the past week, you've seen this image before. I shot it as part of the #eatcaptureshare #creativefoodphotography challenge. 〰️ The brief was to shoot a dish or scene inspired by art and I chose @parasitemovie as my inspiration. This dish is called jjapaguri, renamed Ramdon (ramen + udon) by the movie's translator for international audiences. It consists of Chapagetti and Neoguri, two types of instant noodles. In the movie, they add sirloin steak - a marker of the class distinction between the two families. 〰️ So the idea was to recreate this dish with a twist. I chose to add lots if stir fried veggies, and ribeye steak. Naturally, I had mine without steak but with all the veggies. You know I love to transform quick meals into something special so I had a lot of fun with this. I've traded Thai beaches and mountains for forests and ponds. Today's theme for the #EatCaptureShare #creativefoodphotography challenge hosted by @thelittleplantation is "Trying Something New". ⁠ I was thinking of shooting with direct light but the London weather had different plans. ⁠ So instead, I decided to work with what I had - work with shadows instead. ⁠ 〰️⁠ You guys know I prefer my shots slightly overexposed and oversaturated; stylistically, it's what I like best. So using shadows is way out of my comfort zone. ⁠ I ended up quite liking it! It makes me feel like I'm peeking through a door. 〰️ In the frame, bacon and mushroom tortelloni, with crispy fried sage and Parmesan. Told you I'm in a dessert phase! ⁠ 〰️⁠ I've been making crêpes since I was tiny. We had a vintage @krupsfrance crêpe maker that came with a foolproof recipe. And I went to town on it (if you’re curious, I’ll post a photo in my Stories 😉). 〰️⁠ So I came to the pancake game late and felt a bit meh about them. They’re good, but are they crêpes?? But then I found the sweet spot with this version. They're fluffy but not too thick, and, unlike crêpes, they're great with lots of toppings. ⁠ 〰️ This time, I was craving berries and salted caramel. But then I decided to try something new. I've been really drawn to blood oranges this season. So much beauty packed into a small fruit. Sourdough has had a great year! It feels like everyone around me (and online) has become a home baker and I now know more about sourdough starters than I ever intended to.⁠ 〰️⁠ For my part, I'm still buying my bread.
