A Vulcan Smile Part Four
[Part One] [Part Two] [Part Three]
Tumblr media
“They couldn’t have found a planet for this?” Leonard grumbled to Jim as he made their way off the ship. “The Alpha Quadrant’s a big place.”
The docking bay was filled with conversation as Enterprise crew members disembarked and security and maintenance workers went about their business. Below that was the low hum of the machinery that kept the station running, only slightly different from the hum of the Enterprise. Leonard longed for a shore leave on a planet that had no hum and had conversations that weren’t about jefferies tubes or Vulcan diplomacy.
“Dad!”
Both Leonard and Jim’s heads swiveled in the direction of the shout, their faces contorting with confusion as they watched Joanna sprint across the space station's docking bay. Leonard got his barings just in time to catch her when she jumped at him. He held her tightly in his arms and looked around for a clue as to what she was doing this far from home. His eyes landed on you, just a few paces from him.
“Looks like it’s not that big,” Jim commented.
Leonard set Joanna back down on her feet, still looking at you. “I was under the impression that you would be watching Joanna on Alpha Centauri.”
“Plans changed,” you stated simply.
“Taking a child off world without the permission of her parent isn’t a change of plans, it's a kidnapping,” he argued.
“Do you ever get tired of over reacting?” you asked without expecting an answer. “I got Donna’s permission. I tried to get yours but the subspace message wouldn’t go through. But even if that weren’t the case, don’t you think I would put a little more effort into avoiding you if I had kidnapped your child?”
“Sorry I underplayed your criminal prowess,” he said sarcastically.
“I’m here for the conference,” you explained.
“It’s a four day conference.”
“The man can count. Why Jocelyn ever left you-”
“She has school on Monday,” he reminded you.
“That won’t be a problem.” You looked around him as Joanna started to wander off. “She was suspended. Excuse me.” You left the conversation to follow Joanna.
Leonard turned to continue the argument but stopped when he saw Joanna standing in front of Spock. Jim watched on, doing nothing to fight off the smile growing on his face as the scene played out in front of him.
“Dif-tor heh smusma,” she greeted, getting his attention with a Vulcan salute.
“Sochya eh dif,” he responded, returning the gesture.
“Are you Mr. Spock?”
“I am. Who are you?”
“Joanna McCoy. I’m a friend of your sisters,” she answered.
“I see. Is that why your Vulcan pronunciation is impeccable?”
The girl nodded so enthusiastically that her hair bounced around her shoulders. “I’m the best human in my class!”
“That does not surprise me. You seem to be a smart young woman.”
“Making friends, Spock?” Jim asked as the three of you joined him.
“I believe I am.” He looked up from Joanna. “I find her company to be far preferable to that of her father’s.”
“Wish I could say the same thing about your family members, Spock,” Leonard said, sending a glare your way.
“Did you just admit to enjoying Spock’s company?” you asked with a sly smile.
“That’s what I heard,” Jim agreed.
Your smile turned into a grin as you leaned around Leonard to finally take a good look at the man with him. Your eyes darted down to the sleeve of his uniform then back up to his bright eyes and smile that was just short of mischievous.
“I take it you’re Captain Kirk?” you asked.
“Last time I checked.”
“It’s an honor to meet you. I’ve heard great things.” You held out your hand for him to shake and all three men stared at it. Jim looked back at your face for a moment, judging your expression to check that this wasn’t some sort of diplomatic trap, before taking your hand.
“As have I,” he said brightly, releasing your hand.
“Oh, have you?” You looked at Leonard out of the corner of your eye.
“Not from me,” he defended.
“Well, I know it wasn’t from Spock.”
“There is no way for you to know that,” Spock stated.
“Alright what have you told them about me?”
“That you are my sister and that you are a teacher,” he answered.
“Great things,” you echoed sarcastically, checking your watch. “We need to go. We’re going to be late.” You gestured for Joanna to follow you.
“Not so fast. We have a lot to talk about,” Leonard said pointedly, his hand going to Joanna’s shoulder before you could walk off with her.
A flicker of sympathy ran through you, seeing the anger and sadness peaking through his expression. You knew it was hard to be so seperated from someone you loved that you only got glimpses of what their lives were like. You started to feel a twinge of guilt about dropping the bomb of her suspension the way you had. But you had other things to be doing. These were emotions to be dealt with at a later time.
“We do and there will be more than enough time to talk about it tonight when we are both done working.” You quickly gave him the information for your temporary quarters and began to strode off the way you had come. Joanna gave a hasty good bye to each of the men before racing after you.

It’s been four days since the arrival of the remaining Enterprise crew upon the Yorktown star base. Three days since they’d cast about for clothing and other essentials to replace what had been lost, and scraped together enough collective smiles to throw their Captain the birthday party he’d truly deserved, even if his heart may not have been completely in it.
Four days since finding lodging, carving out a small perimeter within which the suffering and the slowly healing might be left in some relative peace, and three days since Leonard had fallen, half drunk from the festivities, into bed without bothering to undress. It’s the deepest he’s slept in months, truly; the longest and most impressive stringing together of restful hours, even if many of them had been plagued by nightmares and he’d woken, alone and confused, only to drift off again once he’d understood that the dark and silent stillness is a peace he needs, and not a loneliness worth fearing.
He’s been unreachable for days, stiff and aching when he finally emerges like a bear from its cave, and though he is not strictly speaking on duty, there’s plenty of work to be done. Leonard will be loaned a decent kit if he expresses interest in being useful, he knows. He also knows which of his fellow crewmates are less likely to pursue treatment and observation, however badly they may be in need of it. On the ship or off, it’s up to him to employ the tactics he’s learned over the years.
Spock isn’t necessarily the first on his list, but he’s the nearest, and however well he had appeared at Jim’s party, Leonard can remember the way he’d moved about slowly and carried himself gingerly. The memory, fuzzy as it is by now, is what makes his mind up for him. Fortunately the remaining crew are easy enough to locate, not only by proximity, but by the way their reputation and the story surrounding their ordeal seems to follow each of them around like markers. A trail of bread crumbs.
“Spock,” he announces himself, tapping the chime. This is where he’s fairly certain the man’s holed up; if he’s got company, the doctor will try again later. If he’s denied access or his services are refused for no reason other than bullheaded stubbornness, he’ll dig his heels in. “It’s me.”

it was strange how they’d gone from ENEMIES to friends to perhaps something more. it hadn’t been a quick or easy road by any means. no, they’d fought, they’d clashed, but still, they ended up here. there is some unspeakable bond between them now, something that draws them to each other. it’s not science. it’s something else entirely.
now that they’ve fallen into these new, unspoken roles, it has come with some changes. for example, while khan ordinarily would have left the bridge some hours ago to retrieve a meal, he’s been waiting. the moment alpha shift ends, the beta shift crew arrives on the bridge to relieve the previous shift’s crew. that is when khan approaches spock.
his strides are quick, & he comes to stand beside the science officer, one hand resting on the small of his back discreetly.  “ COMMANDER, i believe your shift has ended. perhaps you would accompany me to the mess hall for a meal. ”

Not a logical intervention - epilogue
“Did you bring the kitten?” Kirk asked.
“He is not really a kitten anymore, dad,” Lyionel replied, then held up the light peach cat carrier. “You were out there for three weeks!” He looked at the side. “technically he is still a kitten but I think the Klingon half has a hand in that.”
The calico cat mewed at the grinning admiral.
“A----acho!” Spock had a high pitch swift sneeze as hen came over to Kirk’s side.
“Bless you,” Kirk said, fondly looking over toward the taller Vulcan.
“I am fine,” Spock said.
“Thank you, son,” Kirk said. “Sorry you had to spend your first holiday alone.”
“Actually, I spent Hanukkah with the Kirk’s,” Lyionel said. “andddd guess where we went.”
“Rock climbing?” Kirk offered.
“Camping,” Spock said.
“Zoo going?” Kirk guessed.
“Even better,” Lyionel said. “Shopping!”
Spock raised an eyebrow at the man. They had gone shopping with the young man during his recovery. He had lots of clothes that ranged in taste, some of which were fancy, and he had long socks that didn’t blend in. He was dressed entirely in green. All of his clothes were green with different secondary colors ranging for holiday events. In fact, he wore green sun glasses decorated in light green sparkles. Lyionel reminded Spock of the riddler’s criminal fashionable style. Kirk turned his attention toward the cat.
“What are the kittens names?” Kirk asked.
“Kobay, and Ashi,” Lyionel said. Kirk slowly turned his head in the direction of Spock who had a fond short laugh. Spock had a fond short well aged laugh.
“Mr Spock,” Kirk said, baffled but in a endearing teasingly manner. “you can’t resist the opportunity to name a cat after a program that hasn’t been made,”
“I didn’t name them, I gave him a list of suggestions,” Spock said. “Apparently he favored Kobay and Ashi.”
“We’re failing at this,“ Kirk said.
“More than we ever know,” Spock said. “It seems the giftee has finally left the Hood.”
“Where--” Kirk looked over to see Ambassador Durche exiting the docking port. “There he is!”
The dark man was being escorted by security officers straying from the remaining Ambassadors. Like a very young man with more than energy than someone in their sixties, Kirk ran after the man with carrier in hand. The calico mewed as it slid from side to side. Spock followed along  after the admiral in a slow pace. Officers walked past Spock and Kirk. Lyionel went over to a honey station and ordered himself a honey bar.
“Ambassador Durche!” Kirk called..
Durche stopped appearing to be alarmed.
“Yes?” Durche said.
“Your cat,” Kirk handed the carrier to the dark woman.
Durche turned the cat carrier toward him to see the calico.
“That is so cute,” Durche lowered the carrier. ‘“Thank, thank you, thank you very much, Admiral Miller.”  Durche held her hand out for the man to shake.
“You’re very welcome,” Kirk said, taking the Loktaran’s hand.
“I won’t forget this,” Durche said. “If you need a favor on Loktara, please, call.”
“We will,” Kirk said.
Durche let go of the admiral’s hand then turned in the direction of people calling him. People who shared a familiar resemblance dressed in a two piece yellow outfit resembling much what the delegates were in. Durche, the Loktaran Ambassador, was in a two piece dark outfit with a bright blue sash. She turned back in the direction of the partners.
“May the great bird of the galaxy bless you,” Durche said, then stopped shaking hands with the admiral.
“Live long and prosper,” Spock said, holding the ta’al..
Durche turned from the two then headed off toward his direction. Spock lowered his hand linking it behind his back. There was a familiar mew from behind the two. It was distinct and short. It was a familiar mew that Italian made just for him. Kirk had a happy sigh watching the woman go off.  Spock turned away from Kirk then knelt down. The sound of a mew brought the attention of the admiral. Kirk looked over to see in his husbands arms was a large, fluffy white cat that was purring. Spock felt on the cats forehead then grew a beaming wide smile as he stood up to his feet. Italian rubbed the side of Spock’s cheek with the side of his face.
“I thought he was gone,” Spock said, emotionally.
“No one is truly gone,” Kirk said, rubbing along Italian’s neck while looking up toward Spock with affection.
Italian’s legs were on the Spock’s shoulders purring while laid in the corner of his arm. His head turned in the direction of admiral Kirk. Washington came out of the docking port and stopped, holding a  small cat carrier, to see that the kitten had found them. A smile grew on the officer’s face then returned the cat carrier back into the ship. The scene panned back. Spock had another sneeze. Kirk had a laugh at the Ambassador.
The press was all over the matter shortly after the Hood’s docking port met with the starbase. The ship had several layers of metal peeled away, a deck corridor for three decks were missing, loss of officers, and the phenomenon of Stabby the quartermaster quickly trended in the federation. Officer Reeds was escorted out by security in cuffs then handed over to starbase authorities.T’Pot stood at the top of the curled tower in the shape of a ‘c’ attached to the ground. Visiting one of Earth’s historical sights only momentarily reminded the woman how insignificant she was. How planets were vast and large with population centers. She exited the ground minutes afterwards relieved and dressed enough to blend in with the Terrans.
Now that the mission was over.
What was there to do now?
For so long, she had been determined on serving the captain and the crew’s protection. A security officer, chief of security, turned captain. She had served in Starfleet for over twenty years. The reports that she had read was strikingly struck a cord. Bole’s physical body was gone except for her brain taking the Greosciou far, far, away, out of the galaxy possibly. Ten thousand years alone and never come back. Was she going to go the same way? A captain, who did so much to preserve the ship, ending up as a disapproval in Starfleet. Yet to her, Bole was perhaps a great captain. She wasn’t illusion-ed on that thought. She had not planned ahead for this. Not at all. T’Pot’s bondmate came behind her with linked hands behind his back as she gazed off the balcony to their apartment. It was a like breeze going from Earth to Vulcan for downtime.
“Your mind is preoccupied,” Sochya said, coming to the woman’s side.
T’Pot visibly relaxed alongside the short Vulcan.
“I do not  know how I can go back out there,” T’Pot said.
“There is no room in your life if you let fear reside in it. . .” Sochy said.
“Until you cast it out,” T’Pot finished.
“Indeed,” Sochya said.
“I do not believe my life is to be spent in space,” T’Pot said, leaned forward with a sigh placing her hands on the balcony’s edge. She looked over toward the man. “Perhaps it is somewhere else. Somewhere closer. I do not wish to be compared with my former captain.”
“You have done this comparing and contrasting all on your own,” Sochya said. "The press has not done any of it as of far,” Sochya placed a hand on the woman’s shoulder. “You are a starfleet officer and have done as far proved yourself worthy of commanding a starship.”
“It does not feel natural,” T’Pot said.
“Nothing does aboard a Starfleet vessel,” Sochya said. “It is unnatural . . Perhaps with your new career advancement, there is a purpose behind it, such as patrolling zones.” she raised her head up. “Which is, in itself, a security mission.”
T’Pot nodded.
“You are right,” T’Pot said, turning away. “I shall find a assignment that deals with my interests accordingly.”
Sochya held his two fingers out.
“Excellent, my wife,” Sochya said.
T’Pot completed the ozh’esta gesture.
Spock was laid in beds surrounded by Kobay, Ashi, Maru, and Italian. Italian was seated alongside Spock against his chest. Kirk came to the bedroom door singing. Spock’s skin was covered in sweat. His grayed hair was stuck against his skin. Sensing Kirk’s return, Spock turned from the direction of the window toward Kirk. Spock lifted himself up against the back rest of the bed as the door opened. Kirk slid the door open.
“Good morning, husband!” Kirk’s well aged voice that rung in the Vulcan’s ears.
“Ashaya, adun, t’hy’la,” Spock said, as Kirk placed the tray onto the Vulcan’s lap. Steaming, warm plomeek soup rested in the center. There were pieces of tomato floating inside and celery.  Kirk’s special ‘get well soon’ soup was red with pieces of carrots sticking out.  Kirk sat on the edge of the bed appearing well phrased compared to the ill, shirtless Vulcan. Italian leapt into the Vulcan’s lap.  “Please lower-” Spock sneezed. “your voice. It is too loud.”
“Sorry about that,” Kirk said, softening his voice. “I can’t believe we forgot to get you a shot before we left.”
“It is partially my fault,” Spock said. “I was focused on other matters.”
“November and December were busy months,” Kirk said. “Learning Federation Standard, then how to write, and cursive. . . That was very stressfull. I think I got more grayed hair because of it.” Kirk laughed in bemusement.
Spock held his two fingers out for the admiral.
“You are beautiful,” Spock said. “Just the way you are.”
“If you weren’t sick then I would be kissing you the human way,” Kirk said, returning the gesture.
“Kaiidth,” Spock said. Then he lowered his hand feeling around for a spoon. Italian moved the spoon toward Spock’s hands. Spock’s fingers grabbed onto the long, cold silver center then picked up and began to eat. Kirk’s warm smile at the scene slowly started to fade.
“I am going to work today,” Kirk said. “And I am taking Lyionel.”
Spock raised an eyebrow.
“I am sure, Spock,” Kirk said. “he is going to be the most helpful on this secret mission.”
Spock took a sip appearing not to be convinced.
“The mission we’re going on involves a science facility,” Kirk said. “You know, the Gastavo colony?”  Spock nearly dropped it. “Spock, I won’t save it. We are just fixing a little problem.” Spock glared in the direction of the admiral. “I know, I know, I know. We can’t interfere more as have any further.”  Kirk shook his hands. “Okay, it’s more of a big problem. The locals worship someone named Ha’chie. The scientists there think they’re worshipping a robot.”
“Natives had no part in the tragedy at the Gastavo colony,” Spock said. Spock’s attention was laid on Kirk. Spock’s unoccupied hand went over to Kirk’s hand gently taking it. “Jim, be careful.”
“I will, I will,” Kirk said, “In the mean time, I have arranged to have all the medicine for you on the counter. And I like you not to go after us when you’re sick. Don’t want the natives to get sick, do you?”
“No,” Spock said.
“By tomorrow, you’ll be good enough to make yourself something,” Kirk said.
“I shall be,” Spock said, with a nod.  “If I am still not well, I shall force myself up and provide self-care.”
Kirk had a light hearted laugh looking at Spock affectionately.
“Self care does,” Kirk said, with a light squeeze of Spock’s hand earning a slight gasp.
“Jim,” Spock emphasized. “Not when I am eating.”
“You’re so lovely,” Kirk said.
“I am quite aware how attractive I am to you,” Spock said. “I do not desire a mess on this bed that I cleaned three weeks ago.”
“Oh well, the things you can arouse out of me,” Kirk said.
Spock heard knocking from down stairs.
“It appears we have a visitor.” Spock said.
“I wonder who that can be,” Kirk said. “Probably a lost traveler.”
“Again,” Spock said, rubbing his forehead.
“I will wake Lyionel up then get the door,” Kirk said. “Baby, it’s a little of a Kirk incident that we live by the fork in the road to the highway.”
Kobay, Ashi, and Maru raised their heads up with alert ears at the sound of  the knocking. Lyionel was sleeping in his bedroom snoring away almost ready to fall right off. Kirk stroked Italian’s forehead then slid his figure ff reluctantly off the bed. Kirk left the door ajar heading his way down the hall. Spock sipped in more of the soup making a occasional chew or two. Spock picked up the napkin wiping along his mouth. Spock heard the sound of a door creaking open. There was sheer joy and shock traveling through the bond.
“Bones!” Kirk shouted.
And that is when Spock knew that his new family was whole again leaving a smile on his face.
His not a logical intervention came to become something otherwise
It had turned into a much . . . logical intervention in the grand scheme of things.
The End.

For the headcanon meme Uhura?
For THIS headcanon meme!  (You thought you were free.  You were wrong.)  I’m kind of picturing AOS because that’s what I watched most recently with Uhura.
A: what I think realistically
Nyota Uhura grows up speaking threelanguages fluently—English and Swahili, because her family speaks both, and aGerman dialect, because her cousin’s husband speaks Swahili like athree-year-old and doesn’t seem to be getting better at it.  He dotes on Nyota, calls her little star and swings her up onto hisshoulders to ‘scare’ his wife and Nyota’s mothers as a monster with two heads, and he thinks it’s the greatest thing in history when she starts translatingfor him.  She’s six years old when shegoes to a museum and meets the curator, who is a Vulcan woman of superlativebrilliance.  The woman greets her familywith a formal Vulcan phrase and is visibly taken aback—something of anaccomplishment—when Nyota carefully, cautiously sounds out in imitation, tonk’peh, dif-tor heh smusma.
“Very good,” the Vulcan woman says inEnglish, arching an eyebrow.  “But thecorrect response is sochya eh dif.”  Nyota parrots it back, and the Vulcan womanoffers her a salute.  Nyota comes backthe very next day and plunks herself expectantly in front of the woman’s door, and more or less bothers the woman into agreeing to teach her the language.
Nyota, talking to her teacher, learnsabout Star Fleet, where she can learnevery language in the galaxy (“that is quite impossible–”  “EVERY language in the galaxy,” Nyotainsists) and spend her entire life speaking them as a job.  She never looks awayfrom the stars again, and she remains in touch with her teacher, until finallyit’s Nyota who offers the lessons, in the grammar of Russian and the guttural tonesof Klingon.
Nyota’s teacher, very formal at alltimes, is the one who begins calling her ‘Uhura.’  Nyota knows that her name means star, but to her, Uhura means linguist andshe holds it tight with both hands.
B: what I think is fucking hilarious
Uhura and Jim are actually great friendsby the end of the Enterprise’s firstyear, once he feels less like he has to prove himself at all times and once shegets past some of her ingrained horror about his casual disregard for the ruleswhen he thinks it’s necessary.  (Thefirst time Uhura sees herself observe a rule and then toss it aside because, well, this is more important, she has this moment of total exasperation because He Has Infected Her.)  Jim speaks not a few languages himself, andmore to the point he’s actually not the trash can she assumed him to be.  He doesn’t harass his subordinates, he wouldclearly die for any of them, and even though at first she’s convinced he’sgoing to drink on the job and sleep with everyone on the ship, there’s no signof it.  He drinks sometimes with the restof the alpha shift command crew, but never to excess, and she’s pretty sure Jimwould rather take a phaser shot to the chest than risk his crew by sleepingaround—it’s like command has turned him into a real person rather than the caricaturehe worked so hard to project and goddamnit she likes that person.  No one ismore shocked and aggrieved than Uhura herself.
Uhura is also rational enough to date aVulcan, so after two months she huffs out a breath and plops her tray down athis table during breakfast (Jim eats in the mess hall with the crew, ratherthan a private mess, because he likes to knowhis people, damn him).  She has the samestubborn look in her eye that once strongarmed a Vulcan into agreeing to teachher language to a small human child.
“Um,” Jim says, wary, “hey, Uhura.”
“You’re going to stop hitting on me,”she tells him, pointing at him sternly with her fork, “and I’m going to stoptreating you like an asshole, and then we’re going to be friends.”
Jim stares at her.  “Okay?”
“So,” she says, lowering her fork togesture at his PADD, “what are you reading?” He tells her, seemingly too bemused to do anything else, and shescoffs.  “Please.  If you want the really weird Vulcanliterature, I can hook you up.  Youhaven’t lived until you’ve read some of the Pre-Reform homoerotic star-crossedlovers nonsense I read during my tutorial on the Pre-Reform dialect.”
Jim laughs until he’s wheezing andflushed, clutching the edge of the table as the mess hall looks at him in mildalarm and Uhura smirks in satisfaction.
C: what is heart-crushing and awful but fun to inflict on friends
Uhura never becomes a captain, althoughinnumerable promotions are offered to her. She loves her languages too much. She believes, after seeing Kirk and Sulu and even sweet Chekov taken bytheir ships and never return, that this is the reason she and Spock end up asthe last living members of that first bridge crew.
She kind of wishes, sitting at themonument to James Tiberius Kirk and thinking about how he would have hatedhaving his middle name on the thing, that she had taken the captaincy.
D:  what would never work with canon but the canon isshit so I believe it anyway
LET!  NYOTA! UHURA!  HAVE!  A! BIG!  FAMILY!
Listen Iliterally could not care less about what canon says, Nyota has like threesiblings and a bunch of cousins and her grandmother and her two moms and heraunts and uncles and they all adore each other to little bits and pieces.
Nyota’s sister is dying to know about Spock from the first moment she hears abouthim, and the poor guy is totally overwhelmed the first time Nyota brings himhome to celebrate [insert slightly ridiculous reason that the family came upwith on the spot because Nyota was on Earth and they were excited].  They immediately adopt Spock, he’s reallykind of alarmed about it.
Nyota bringsJim to meet her family one time too (and McCoy because his wife has his kidcurrently) when it’s his birthday and he just desperately does not want to deal with Star Fleet and the Kelvinand the whole hero thing, and they all love him too.
Basically give me Nyota Uhura who travels thestars because she loves them too much to stay on the ground, but who has very real ties to Earth because those are her people.  She’s met bythe quintessential embarrassing family whenever they make earthfall.  Her cousin (the one who still sucks at Swahili) has a sign. Her sister and her twin brothers have a banner.  She’s going tomurder them all but also she can’t stop grinning.

Pihlora Kaiidth
Tumblr media
Kaiidth Rank: Unranked/Pihlora Posting: VSS Sochya Kaiidth is a monk of P'Jem, dedicated to the understanding of Surak's teachings, and the continued stability of the delicate balance of control that is at the core of Vulcan society. He has spent very little time away from the Sanctuary, and even less among humans-- though he does have some experience with the Aenar, and their close cousins the Andorians. He is stationed on the Sochya as Pihlora [a counselor or guide in meditation], and as a mediator should there be any kind of disagreement-- among the usual crew, or [more likely] the crew and the complement of Starfleet cadets. Due to his seclusion, he is not personally acquainted with the other Vulcans aboard the ship, and carries only his training with him into this new and intriguing situation. As a side note, he has not undergone the Ritual of Kolinahr-- he believes that at this time, he can do more good without it, as he is more able to understand the emotional currents that make control an issue for young Vulcans.

Medical Officer Dr. Leonard H. McCoy
Tumblr media
Dr. Leonard H. McCoy Rank: Lt. Commander/Medical Exchange Officer Posting: VSS Sochya Already a noted doctor and surgeon, personal issues drove McCoy from his residency-- and into Starfleet. Though he originally fled there to avoid his own issues, he quickly realized a desire to see it through-- for himself, and for the safety of his friend Jim Kirk. Despite a severe case of aviophobia, and a dislike of the more dangerous aspects of space travel-- like the space part of it-- he does have a strong need to see the galaxy, and to help those they might encounter. He was put forth for the Exchange Program due to the need for a supervising physician, and his stabilizing effects on Jim Kirk.

Medical Officer Dr. Geoffrey M'Benga
Tumblr media
Dr. Geoffrey M'Benga
Rank: Ensign/Medical Intern
Posting: VSS Sochya (Exchange Officer)
Geoffrey M'Benga chose the difficult route of medical school through the Star Fleet Academy, specializing in xenomedicine with a focus on Vulcanoid physiology. His skill and dedication to his studies led him to be recommended for the medical program on Vulcan itself. Learning and working among and with Vulcans gave the Human a unique understanding of Vulcans not only medically but also culturally. His success in this work led to another recommendation: a posting as an exchange officer on the VSS Sochya despite the fact that he has not yet completed his medical internship. While he technically has his degree and has completed training required to become a medical doctor, he does not have a full license to practice and must work under the supervision of at least one other doctor until his internship is complete. Thankfully he will not be the only Human doctor on the ship; Dr. Leonard McCoy would be acting as his supervisor.
Though it seems that on a ship full of Vulcans, if he could make it here, he can make it anywhere.

About our verse:
While I am RPing the Captain of the ship, I am not the boss of you or your muse. You guys are on the crew because you’re good RPers, and I can trust you to entertain yourselves. That being said, if you want to chat about ideas, please do so, because I love plotting with you.
How this verse will work.
Use the Sochya and the verse we are creating as a setting.
There is no meta plot, although certain events and revelations will affect future RP.
If you want to tell a story, write headcanon, or just read along with the verse, that is OK.
When you start a thread in our verse, feel free to cross-post it here on the ship’s blog. That way we can keep track of what’s going on and enjoy each other’s stories.
It’s OK to be in more than one thread at a time.
You are welcome to use this blog to post story ideas and plot bunny.
You’re also welcome to use our setting for threads outside of our AU, but if you find someone you’d like to have join the official crew, please let me know.
Please cross-post your character's AU Bio here as well.
