Biokovo

There is something special about reaching the top of a mountain, even if by car. Landscapes seem to be even more spectacular when seen from above, especially if there are clouds and a sea near the mountains. This is a view from the top of Mt. Jure, Croatia's 3rd highest mountain. When your ears pop, you know you have traveled up a steep incline. When you traverse numerous curvy switchbacks and reach a point where there is a radio transmitter and you look down to see that not only are you above the clouds, but that boats in the Adriatic are mere dots, you know you are at a high elevation. This photograph was taken from the highest paved road in Croatia, 1.1 miles or 1762 meters above sea level. The clouds, distant rain showers and drizzle added interest to the sky. Sveti Jure (Saint George) | The highest peak at Biokovo
