I really love how clumsy Eric (2024) is. Like he’s awkward, and shy, and constantly shrinks in on himself.

Shelly asks him for his name and he makes things SO awkward by not responding because there’s no way she’s talking to him, right? despite him being the only person there.

When he goes to hunt down the people that killed them, it’s so MESSY and CHAOTIC because he has no idea what he’s doing. The car scene is amusing as hell because he’s flailing between the seats and ultimately gets his ass kicked without taking a single life. Major fail.

Like, Eric is not a fighter. He’s a non-confrontational introvert through and through. Which makes his transition into The Crow all the more impactful because it’s the exact opposite of who he is or ever wanted to be.

Ooh, another based "Shellheart gets too much hype in canon" truther? Is it because he actually does shockingly little to stop or protest Rainflower's treatment of Crookedstar as a kit, or something else?

It's a few things honestly, all of them bug me just enough to make me pretty steadfast in feeling like Shellheart is overrated;

Crooked's renaming feels so preventable. Really, Dad Shellheart? You have no say in this? You can't protest this??

You too Hailstar, what the fuck. Leaders are theocratic dictators 90% of the time but TODAY you feel like just letting this woman involve your entire Clan in her emotional abuse?

So it feels like lip service, "Omg Rainflower's being so awful! Don't worry though us powerful men can still be likeable because we don't like this :( too bad our all-powerful hands are tied."

Shellheart wasn't very involved with his children BEFORE denouncing Rainflower, so he does this whole big show of it and theeeeen..... nothing changes.

I'm reminded of how deadbeat fathers will sometimes blow into town with a whirlwind of big talk about doing something big for their neglected family, only to be gone again before Christmas.

Or, worse, the idea that Shellheart ONLY stopped being official mates with Rainflower because he's deputy, and it would look awful if he did nothing at all in the face of such an unpopular situation. Washing his hands of it.

And listen. I know people will staunchly refuse to acknowledge that these aren't real people, they are WRITING CHOICES. But please. I'm begging everyone to stick with me for a goddamn second

Ask yourself these critical thinking questions:

Why have the writers chosen for the mother to be solely responsible for Crookedstar's childhood abuse, whilst portraying Shellheart's solitary big public denouncement as the pinnacle of fatherhood? As he's barely involved in his children's lives?

Do they functionally portray Shellheart as a father who helps his son through maternal neglect? Or are the scenes quite rare? If yes, then what did the author spend their time on instead?

Consider the narrative of Crookedstar's other main antagonist, Mapleshade. Does Mapleshade's backstory have any similarities to Rainflower? Consider the choice to give Crookedstar two cruel maternal figures who act on malice towards him as paternal figure Shellheart goes unexamined.

Is this a pattern that we have seen before? Are fathers typically held to a different standard in Warrior Cats?

I feel strongly that the answer is an obvious yes. So Shellheart, and all the praise and cooing he gets, bothers me immensely.

Sorry but Eric’s face paint means so much to me. Becoming The Crow turned his blood pitch black. It spilled out of his eyes and Kronos carved it around his face to represent that this will all Eric will be from now on.

Eric came back to the living world and put on his outfit, but paused because something didn’t feel right. He takes the thick black tattoo ink (another remnant from happier times with Shelly) and paints it around his face in the same manner as his blood during the ritual.

Eric did not have a mirror. The feeling of his blood leaking out of his eyes and being smothered across his skin is just forever ingrained within him now. A sensation that hasn’t gone away. His face paint is not replicating a clown’s laugh. It’s tears of black blood running down his cheeks, dripping into a mocking smile.

i recently caught up on the crow strider au by @meraki-sunset and the whole time i was reading i was like "this art would make some banger icons" so now i've gone and made a million of them and i can make more if you want. or even if you don't want.

Man like... in Clanmew, I've made it so they have two different names. Common-heather-star, and Bell-heather-star.

If I was in charge of this ship and Better Bones wasn't a rewrite/au to rework canon, I would have given them the same suffix in Clanmew, and then conflict-rename Heathertail on purpose into Bellstar

As if she got a new name on becoming a leader, breaking out of Heatherstar's legacy, and became the softer, pollinator-friendly heather. Surrounded by friends and lovers, bringing back that which was once destroyed.

Devrim and Marc kiss sweetly, it's the flavour of bergamot tea, always familiar and always grounding to the best parts of reality.
